Protecting Emma

Rate this book
Emma Kincaide’s life is falling apart, and she needs to find a place to sort out her thoughts – to take a deep breath and get her life back in order. There’s no better place for that than her parent’s old cabin on Stonewall Mountain. Emma spent almost every summer there as a girl, and she knows she’ll be able to find some solace there while she works everything out. Little does Emma know that Stonewall Mountain changes in the winter. The air becomes colder and bloodthirsty, human-like creatures roam the woods. When a chance encounter brings Emma face-to-face with Jake Blackthorn, the boy who broke her heart all those summers ago, Emma realizes that the mountain holds more secrets than answers. As old passions ignite, Jake and Emma find themselves in the middle of a war Emma never could have imagined – and a powerful foe that wants to keep her and Jake apart.

This book contains mature themes and language and is intended for readers 18 years of age and older. It is a short story—a complete romance with NO cliffhanger. The publisher has included several bonus novellas and short stories as a thank you for downloading this book.

There isn't exactly a shortage of these sort of books, and the storyline as such writes itself thanks to 'Buffy' etc. Unfortunately, while it starts out with a really nice arc of suspense, the second half reads as if the author ran up against either a word limit or a deadline.

I found this as a free download on Amazon. It's a short story and several other short stories are included with this ebook download.
