Rate this book
This is book one of the duet Dr. Stanton series.

If happiness is a gift.
Then Cameron Stanton is my Santa Clause.

I can’t tell you the exact moment I fell in love with him.
Only that I did.

With every glance, every touch, every minute…. he stole a little more of me.

They say that all men are created equal.
Well that’s a blatant lie!

I know because I met Gods gift to women in Vegas,
I pretended he was my husband to get rid of another guy.

He took our fake marriage seriously and it became his personal goal to consummate.

He spoke to me in French and I lied to him in German.
His laughter was addictive.

But I thought what happens in Vegas would stay in Vegas.

Until it didn't.

Dr. Stanton turned up where I least expected and my lies came back to haunt me.

The attraction is palpable.
The secrets unchangeable.
I need him more than air.

**I started to heavily skim after 45ish%, so please take this with a grain of salt and this will not be in my typical review format**

This just didn't work for me.

The premise was fun and interesting, the sex was hot at first, and the kid was cute...and those are my positives.

Now for the big things that didn't work for me...

- I didn't like the h. She made stupid decisions, and she was judgemental and not all that likable!

- I didn't really like the H either. I didn't mind him so much at first, but then he would say something that would make me not like him (like his comments about kids). When he found out her secret he was then a pompous jerk that said and did hurtful things and ran majorly hot and cold.

- The dishonesty. I hate when a mc keeps a huge secret from the other mc for completely selfish reasons, and we get that here. I stopped fully reading at around 45% because they were going to spend a weekend together reconnecting and she was deliberately keeping a huge secret from him because she knew it would mess things up for her. .

- I didn't like the side characters. The H's brother was totally eye roll inducing and I just wanted to smack him! The interactions between the h and her best friend that lived with her felt unnatural and weird tbh. I'm not sure if it was just the dialogue, but it just felt...off.

- The language discrepancies. It was blatantly obvious that the author is not from the US because of the many uses of word differences and slang from what I think is the U.K. I get that the H was supposed to be Australian, and that could explain many of his dialogue differences -- but what about the American side characters and h?! Why make the story be based in America if not making it accurate in how things are said in America? I can ignore some things without issue, but there was so much that I felt the need to say something about it -- and because this is becoming one of my pet peeves as it just seems like lazy research on the author's part IMO.

Those are the big things. I don't mind stories that have , but I need the mcs to act in a honest and mature way to make it work for me.

I know that at least one of my GR friends really liked this, so it could just be me being overly picky 😉

The one star is for the first and only good chapter.

This book shit the bed so much It's like it was two novels. The first chapter hooked me in, it was cute and playful, sexy as hell with two characters flirting madly, it had enough angst to carry the story. When then the author jumps five years in the future, gives Ashley a kid, a ton of insecurities I don't know. She was a whole new character, then you add in Cameron who has changed into an immature yelling judgmental moron.

Both of them are constantly judging the other, accusing of this and that, all stupid shit that just annoyed my eyes off. And the reactions to every situation are just ludicrous and over the top.

He pushes her buttons, she pushed his, he gets mad at every little thing, she has her day made when someone else asks her out ( like, erm, okay... the right reaction you're going for in a romance novel )

She was terrible at her job, not sure why the exclusive mans club was even used as a plot except to show Cameron as a dog and have them constantly in screaming matches with each other. And the way Cameron threatens her at every turn as a parent and belittles her in front of the kid, not hero material whatsoever.

Heroine's drink gets spiked and taken to hospital, hero continues to tell everyone she took an overdose, and his inner dialogue is more worried about the sort of people she hangs around with rather than her well being. I go back to my reactions statement, everything these two do they react so wrong in a judgmental over the top way. It's exhausting to read.

Oh, and then he gets custody of the kid. He does everything he can to take her kid from her. My eyes were rolling so hard at this point but I didn't even feel bad for Ashley, neither are likable.

And just when they get back on track ( I have no fucking clue how ) he overreacts AGAIN and takes off AGAIN. I just wanted to punch him in his stupid junk. This guy is the biggest tantrum thrower I've ever seen.

He smiles sexily.
She smile sexily.
It was repeated throughout. How much sexy smiling can two people do!
It's not even worth mentioning the formatting issues, I was too overwhelmed with the shocking plot. It should have stayed as a smut only, the smut at the very beginning worked really well.

If the book would have continued in the same path as chapter one promised I could have loved this story. As it didn't I struggled to even finish it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2! Dr. Stanton (stand-alone). Forbidden affair with Doctor Stanton turned roller-coaster second chance at love & family!

“I swallow the fear in my throat as his cold eyes hold mine.
“Go to Hell,” I whisper.
“I’m the gate keeper of Hell, baby. Welcome home.”

Dr. Stanton (stand-alone) opens up to the past, a passionate one-night stand, with consequences.

Fast forward five long years, Ashley Tucker aka Ash has moved across the country to start her internship. Imagine her shock when her new sex-on-a-stick boss, Cameron Stanton aka Cam, Dr. Stanton is also the father of her child.

Their attraction is still intense, and they embark on a forbidden office romance until Cam learns the truth. The story goes one to follow as they sort of their past; Feelings of betrayal, need for vengeance, with lust, denial, jealousy and more…

Seven words to describe Cameron Stanton aka Cam, Dr. Stanton:Charismatic, complex, commanding, hard-headed, possessive, obtuse, and aloof.

Seven words to describe Ashley Tucker aka Ash: Independent, stubborn, secretive, broken, conflicted, immature and strong.

Dr. Stanton, told from dual POVs, is very much a second chance romance with elements of forbidden and enemies-to-lovers. The sex was intense and addicting, their connection palpable. It’s a battle of the feels with Ash being stubborn and secretive while Cam is going to be a brute at times possessive, bossy and unreasonable torn between needing revenge and wanting to tie Ash to his bedpost.

“Our eyes lock and the look he gives me feels like it could get me pregnant. I’m not even joking. Get here, straddle me, and ride my fucking cock are its precise words.
Well, that’s what it says to me anyway.”

I enjoyed this, but definitely not as much as Mr. Masters and Mr. Spencer by the same author; however, that makes sense, as those books are later books and you can tell Swan has found her stride more in the interim.

The story line was good here, but there were things about the writing and other details that kind of irritated me. Example: Swan used the phrase "her face fell" or "his face falls," quite a bit throughout the book - and incorrectly more often than not. Someone's face falling has negative connotations - they are disappointed, sad, or suddenly upset. But Swan used it in instances where the emotion was supposed to have been positive.

There were also a lot of Queen's English words or phrases used by characters who were supposed to be from the United States...which is not a big deal, but still.

Also, I didn't love how certain things played out...namely, the way Ashley was portrayed and her actions as a mother. They just didn't seem authentic.

Overall, a good smut read...already finished book two.

5 What Happens In Vegas Stars

 photo party_zps7ybn6zln.gif

What a way to start a book!! Hot-As-Hell

Ashley is in Vegas for a bachelorette party when some nasty sleaze won't leave her alone, she grabs the first guy who walks past and tells the sleaze it's her husband. It just so happens the guy she grabbed was a drop dead specimen who was really cool about the situation and played along.
6 cocktails later...........
 photo grippingsheets_zpsds4ibk1g.gif

God, the chemistry was so of the charts between these two as they spend the entire night doing it like rabbits.

But then shit hits the fan the next night when Cameron loses his phone with his mystery womans phone number in it. Worse still she never got his and he doesn't even know her name.

5 years later with a toddler in tow and after a failed engagement Ashley is determined to start a new life filled with opportunities in LA while she does a 12 month internship with a famous heart surgeon. Who is this famous heart surgeon? Of course it ends up being her hot one night stand from Vegas. Sometimes what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.

 photo cameron_zpsmx1oorr3.gif

As soon as Cameron recognises who she is he try's to explain about the phone but due to her 'situation' (being a single mum) she lies about remembering him and the way she did it had me pissing myself. Ashley has to get a job as her internship pays next to nothing, she gets a job at a very exclusive men's club but only works the bar. This later causes some problems but nothing I found to serious.

Ashley is keeping a HUGE secret from Cameron and as the relationship gets more serious she is at a loss on how to tell him. What will he say? Will he leave? Keeping this secret was the only thing I hated about Ashley, I could never do that.

As for Cameron/Dr.Stanton I found I hated to love him and I can see many things he says and does in this story will make some people angry. It didn't take away anything from the book for me, if anything it made for a more intriguing read.

One thing for sure, this book is full of......................
 photo dramadrama_zpsm3avixj5.gif

Along with the drama came some insanely hot sex, friendships, fighting and romance all bundled up in one well written story. This was my first read by T.L. Swan but it won't be my last.

Oh man. What did I just read?

The hero is controlling and abusive. It was sickening to read this novel. The beginning was so sweet. The hero and heroine's chemistry was off the charts. But then post main "drama", the hero becomes so abusive. The thing is, you don't need to physically hurt another person for it to be abuse. Abuse comes in different shapes and forms, and emotional abuse is one of them.

In the last 10% of the book, there is this scene where the heroine sleeps for too long and she is late to meet the hero. He is furious and he tells her through clenched teeth that she has some explaining to do when they are alone. If that is not threatening behaviour, in light of the way he treated her throughout the book, then I don't know what is.

“Obwohl, wenn jedoch ich in Deutsch ficken ist, wenn I’m in meinem besten,” I whisper as my arousal hits a fever pitch. Translation: Although, when I fuck in German is when I’m at my best.

ajajjajajaajajaj omg i'm crying so hard right now.. every German would understand why 😭😭😭 google translate is calling - they want their position as worst translator back

“Sie sollten sehen, was Sie sagen, deutsch meine Bruchstelle ist,” he whispers as he pulls out and slides home again. Translation: You should watch what you say, German is my breaking point.

what is worse than German dirty talk? when an authors butchers the language so much you won't even recognize that it is dirty talk 🤣

This is the kind of thing that’s so good because it’s also so bad. Basically it was the good kind of bad. And yes the there is a good kind of bad- the one where you can let go of all the things that make it bad and just enjoy the good.
I gave myself a headache writing that.

Confession: I kinda am into the whole accidental/secret baby trope. Don’t know why, don’t ask, I have issues.

Anyway, no point in doing a lengthy review. I’ll let this one be a guilty pleasure.

BTW, I totally read the second book as well. (It was like a long epilogue, which means I got to read all about them making and having babies- I wasn’t gonna pass on that!)

I need to start this review by stating that I love T.L Swan’s writing. I honestly do. Every other book I’ve read by her has been 4⭐️ at least. The Mile High series is one of my favourites and Mr Masters is just *chef’s kiss*

I have never given a negative review like this and I feel guilty for it, but I have never hated a book like I hate this one. I read this maybe 6 months ago, and I’m no less angry about it now then I was after finishing it.

Dr. Cameron Stanton is… there are too many adjectives. He is the LITERAL FUCKING worst. I HATE HIM, the controlling, entitled, pompous, cruel, misogynistic, mother-shaming, god-complex, spoiled asshole. And the fact that the FMC forgave him makes me hate her too. How can A FICTIONAL MAN and WORDS ON A PAGE make me this angry???

I think I can’t get over this book because I cannot believe the average rating. I worry for the women who loved this MMC. This is the type of man you want? You might as well marry a mafioso (a fictional romance one that is. And yes that still may be a slight exaggeration since they.. ya know, murder people, but that’s how much I hate Cameron fucking Stanton).

I need to end this review by repeating that I do indeed love this author!!! This book was just one GIANT trigger for me 😂😂😂 sorry

ALL THE STARS!!!!

Wow this book played with my emotions!!!! I swear I have never cried (yet) while reading a book...but this book ALMOST got me. It was so emotional and angsty and passionate. Gah it is definitely one of my favorite reads so far.

This book was written in 1st person. Mostly dual pov, however a third character had a pov like 2 times.

Okay this review will not give away any spoilers! I know most of my reviews have a complete plot review, but I really don't want to give away all the special emotional details of this book!

I didn't see this book being majorly hyped on goodreads, which is completely shocking to me!! I definitely recommend this book too all readers who enjoy emotional contemporary romances! The plot development was amazing. It definitely had me on my toes the entire time. I did not find one dull moment during the whole book! Also, the characters are so beautifully created and unique in their own way. Ashley is such a strong protective mother, but she is also a hopeless romantic with a great sense or humor. Cameron (Dr. Stanton) is very intelligent and dedicated to his job, but deep down he is looking for someone who stimulate his mind and sees him as something deeper than arm candy. Oh, and the smut in this book was a definite 10/10!

“Ashley Tucker my all night fucker!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🤎🖤❤️💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😍😚😉🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Ashley Tucker - She is in a sticky situation with a man that makes her nervous in a Las Vegas bar, so she grabs the first guy she sees and tells the dude that he is her husband. The handsome man plays along and they spend the rest of the night as husband and wife.

The Hero: Dr. Cameron Stanton - He is an Australian living in Los Angeles who is in Las Vegas with his billionaire brother and plays along with Ashley as her husband. He asks her to stay another night or two but she refuses. They make up stories about who they are and what they do for a living, they speak to each other in French and German. He asks for her number and saves it as “Wife”.

The Story: Cam cheats in a card game and nearly gets caught by one of the players, who upends the table along with his cell phone, before getting Cam kicked out of the casino. He is pissed off about losing the number of his “wife”, but still goes to New York the next weekend. He sits in a bar, staring out at the street hoping to somehow see the woman that has taken over his mind all week. Cam knows it is crazy but he is a player who doesn’t ever think twice about the women he takes to bed, but can’t seem to get her off his mind.

Five years later Ashley and her four year old son Owen move to a new town. Ashley had dreams of being a surgeon when she found herself pregnant, so now she is just trying to get through her final year of medical school residency at a hospital in Los Angeles before becoming a family doctor. Her ex fiancée having left her and stopped visitations with Owen, so she is exited to start a new life. She wants a part time job at a nightclub to make ends meet. She finds that she is working at the same hospital as the man she met in Vegas and they still have explosive chemistry.

The book is told in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Elena Wolfe and Stephen Dexter. I love both of these narrators, Stephen does a fine Aussie accent and Elena has an age appropriate voice and sounds intelligent and feminine. I just loved the sexual tension in this book. It was so hot! The steamy parts were off the charts, hands down the hottest scenes I have ever read.

I know I have said this before, but I just love T.L. Swan’s ability to have a book about a romantic relationship between two people that spans over 700 pages (18 ½ hours of audio) and not have the story be boring or repetitive. There isn’t really any side storylines other that the quirks and hang-ups of the main two characters. It is just them figuring out their relationship and there is some fun along the way. Cam is quite the dirty talker, he and Ash are into role playing which is great. The supporting characters are terrific as well.

this is one of those train-wreck books...
so bad, but you can't stop reading them...

the couple has a lot of steamy sexy times during which they speak to each other in French & German...
my French is not that good, so I can't say is that correct but the German part is just WRONG!!! why not check with some native speakers??? because using google translate is not going to cut it... awful!!

that almost made me dnf it and give it a one-star because at times I am tolerant and shit but sometimes I am that bitch...

This has to be one of the worst books I have read. First I've got to tell the author that if you don't know French or German, Google translate is NOT your friend. The use of this two languages is not correct and its really annoying. Second I very much HATED Ashley. The author writes her as a brilliant woman but I never saw it. She makes stupid decisions and blames the hero of her actions. This trend is irritating that despite the heroine's actions, the hero has to apologize and beg for forgiveness. Cameron, the male main character, starts really good but as the story passes he loses force. Also the book is really long and could use much better editing. And finally although it says it is a standalone book, I felt parts of the story missing that could make better understanding of the story as a whole. I cannot recommend it.

2 This author’s writing style is just not for me

The book was promising. I liked the premise. The beginning was hot AF and I was really into it, then I got into the heart of the story.

There were just way too many problems with the couple.

The book was too long

The book had angst, where it was really annoying a lot of problems could have been solved if they just talked to each other.

I hated the storyline of a “secret” oh my god, to hear the inner monologue of the Heroine talking about how she needed to justify in hiding her secret was just driving me bonkers.

I fucking hated the Hero. Cameron is the worst kind of person and I’m sorry, but when he I gave upon them and I started to skim.

I’m not sure if I can try another book, because at the end of the day, the writing style was just not for me.

But yay for the sex scenes!

Total DNF for me!

It's hard to like a romance if you don't like the Main characters. It's even harder, when you can absolutely not stand them!
Both h and H were egotistical, selfish jerks with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

Also, if your characters are speaking a foreign language (and are taking pride in it), make sure that they are using that language correctly or in simple terms: Google Translator is NOT the way to go.
When H and h first met, they dirty-talk in French and German. Since I'm fluent in German, let me tell you, what they were saying didn't make any sense. For example: "Obwohl, wenn ich in deutsch ficken ist, wenn I'm in meinem besten." (It's supposed to mean "Although, when I fuck in German is when I'm at my best") Google translation at it best. Just so you know, it doesn't work if you only translate the words without considering grammar and sentence structure. Do it properly or don't do it at all.

I didn't plan on such a rant but stuff like that shows lack of research and that totally bothers me to no end.

Sorry to say that I can't recommend this to anyone.

2.5 - 3*

This book started incredibly well unfortunately the rest of the book didn’t live up to its early potential.

I can’t stress enough how great this started. The chemistry and sex between these two was amazing and I was hooked.

One of my issues was I hate it when the story revolves around a secret. I hate any book where a simple conversation could clear things up. This happened here and it annoyed me no end.

Ashley showed so much promise early on but she turned out to be annoying. She made bad decision after bad decision. She was judgemental and just plain awful at times.

Cameron also annoyed me but not to the same extent. His mother however is a real piece of work.

I’m a great lover of epilogues so I’m moving onto that next. Because what can go wrong with a HEA epilogue?

3.5 stars.⭐⭐⭐

I would have to give this book 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐ for the first half and a solid 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the rest of the story.
Honestly, it really did take me a little while to settle in to this book (after the "scorching" hot intro) and also to relate to these characters but at some point about midway through I totally began to feel the "magic" and everything snowballed for me after that.
It was overall a sexy, steamy, emotional and angsty read. This author continues to enthrall me with her stories of "messed up" alpha males and the women who fall for them.
I also read the second book "Dr Stanton The Epilogue" immediately after this one and I have to say that it was simply adorable (loved it) and very low angst which always suits me.

This book was so bad it's not even funny. I don't even know where to begin. Let's start with things that bother me in general when it comes to books. Poor research is always at the top of my list. If you're not familiar with the medical profession, then maybe you shouldn't write MCs that are doctors, and if you still want to, then research is your friend. So many inconsistencies that made no sense. The heroine is apparently still in Med School (in NY) but currently in an a "cardiology internship" (in LA). Cause ya know, the author didn't research and that's not how it works. Anyway, this cardiology internship is totally treated as a 9 to 5 job in the book, with zero late nights or long shifts at all (I know my doctor friends as laughing right now). In fact, she has so much time that she works as a bartender/stripper at night (more on that later).

Other things that bother me are continuity issues and badly edited books. This one had many as well, ages and dates never matched. They have a patient named Gloria that in one part they mention she's 92, then they mentioned that she had been married to her husband for 74 years before he died, then later on she says that it has been 22 years since her husband died. You do the math, if she was 94 and her husband died 22 years ago, when she was 72, then how the hell were they married 74 years? Such as mess!

The author is also clearly not American but set her book in the US and chose to make one of her characters American. However, the American character uses a lot of British/Australian terms and words like "bloody hell" bloody this and that. It's super annoying. The dialogue is also super juvenile, they both sound like teenagers all the time.

Now let's talk plot, this book started strong, with the characters having a wild one night stand in Vegas but then got terrible as the pages went on. The book was very all over the place, like the author wanted to do so much but accomplished nothing. Both the heroine and the hero are very unlikeable. The heroine is a med student/med intern, but apparently doesn't get paid enough so she also works at a gentleman's club that is supposedly very exclusive. The hero is a member of that club as well. She has a kid resulting from their one night stand, but refuses to tell the hero about the kid for half of the book. Her behavior is super erratic but when the hero tries to step up, she acts all offended. My head is spinning just thinking about all the stupidity in this book.

Anyway, at one point I just didn't care if they were together or not. This was a mess, with very unlikeable characters. I cant really recommend, don't waste your time or money.

I'm trying to figure out why I stuck with this book. It started out good, but then holy hell did they turn into the most immature douche's ever. Cameron was a raging, controlling lunatic. Ashley made some of the dumbest choices ever. If he ever tried to take my kid away without any actual facts I would never forgive him. Looks are not everything. Cameron's family were lunatics with the exception of maybe Natasha. I stuck with it cause it was like a train wreck you couldn't stop watching. I know the author is not American (which is fine), but if you are going to base your books in America and most of the characters are American, then the terminology needs to be American. No one here says bloody, operating rooms are called that and not theatres. People call each other and not ring each other, etc. You get my drift. I really can't believe I wasted my time on this and it needs formatting fixes for kindle. Sorry for my rant.

This is probably my worst read of the year.

This was an awful experience for me.

I have read one other book by this author (Mr Masters) & have come to the conclusion that my standards for men must be ridiculously high because the average rating for both books SHOCK me.

I have so many things to rant about so warning you now, this review will be full of spoilers.

NOW…

The disrespect in this book by the MMC (Cameron)to the FMC (Ashley) was SO FUCKING DISGUSTING.

*insert character profiles*

MR CAMERON STANTON

• Throws tantrum and revs away in his oh so shiny & expensive car whenever he does not get his way.

• Threatens Ashley if she does not leave her job working at a bar in an ‘exotic’ club that he will leave her…then proceeds to punch his car window when she refuses…yes, punch LOL.

• Has no composure (WHATSOEVER) when arguing with her in front of other people. He grabs Ashley physically constantly & tells her things like “Shut the fuck up” in front of people.

• The most disgusting thing he does is take their son away from Ashley whenever she does something he does not like. He calls her a stripper and a hoe who does drugs (she was DRUGGED and nearly died) AND THEN…the cherry on top?

HE SERVES HER A COURT ORDER FOR FULL CUSTODY OVER THEIR CHILD AND MANIPULATES EVIDENCE TO DO THIS

Yep. Ashley literally breaks down sobbing & crying. YET, WHAT DOES SHE DO?…. she takes him back. Even after she literally says (direct quote) ”I will never forgive you as long as I live”.

MISS AHSLEY
(idk her surname or did not care to remember)

• She is a compulsive liar. (Hides the fact that they have a child together LOL) which is the ONLY benefit of the doubt the MMC gets from me. Still, this does not excuse his actions after.

• Naive and massive pushover who constantly takes her abusive man back because he apparently is a sex maniac who she cannot seem to resist.

*yawn* no dick is ever that good.

OMGGGGGG NO WAIT. CAMERON TRIES TO GET A LAP DANCE FROM ANOTHER WOMAN WHEN THEY ARGUED BECAUSE HE NEEDED TO GET HIS MIND OFF ASHLEY.

Guess what her response is to this?

My poor, beautiful man is in pain and the overwhelming urge to fix him takes over

You cannot make this shit up! Oh, then she gives him a lap dance and almost fucks him. He is practically a cheater (evidence is TWICE in this book).

I cried (I am embarrassed). I think I was emotional at the time & for some ridiculous reason felt attached to Ashley & the way Cameron treated her awfully made tears come to eyes at 4am. Maybe I just wanted to sleep but anyways.

Here is another quote from this oh so swoon worthy, delicious, romantic, gentle & kind male love interest:

He walks over, emotionless. “Get up to the room now before I strangle you in public,” he growls

& Ashley deadass says this at the end of the book…

There is still a power struggle between the two of us at least once a day. I have to admit Cameron usually wins, simply because I can’t be bothered fighting with him anymore. I’ve stopped sweating the small stuff

The “small stuff” includes threatening her, taking her son away and just literally taking away autonomy that the woman has.

Ashley also praises Cameron for deleting all the girls he used to fuck from his phone…’I never asked him to, he just did it’ As if this is not the bare minimum? But ok?

In short,
this was a terrible story that cannot be classed as romantic or even that hot. The smut was overshadowed by the toxicity. I do want to read more books from this author JUST to see if I will ever truly enjoy one. For now, I am questioning everyones standards for men if they truly believe this a romantic & heartfelt story (sorry not sorry).

update: it’s 2am and I just thought about how much this book angered me.

This book started soooo well and then went to hell in a hand basket.

As soon as it skipped to 5 years in the future it just all went wrong. The strip club plot was pointless, Ashley became this really awful person who lied and made the worst decisions ever and was just generally annoying and Cameron... he was scary and not in a good way. I can usually overlook a lot of f**kery by men in books because it's fantasy and not real but this guy was next level awful.

Spoilers below on what was bad...

Both characters are so flawed in the worst possible way. I just couldn't believe how a book that started SO well could take such a turn and end up like this where I was rolling my eyes and about ready to give up because by the end, I really hated them both!

This book! This. Fucking. Book. I loved it! Looking for a story that will get your pulse racing, heart pounding and panties melting? This. Is. It!

Dr. Stanton is gripping, compelling, intriguing, captivating, you name it... I forgot that I actually had a job to do while reading it. I was supposed to be proofreading, but I was so taken by the story that I had to read it first and then go back to proof.

TL Swan really brought her characters to life. Cameron and Ashley had such an amazing chemistry, you could just feel the electricity buzzing between them. Their story is swirling with steamy swoony romance, secrets, lies and broken trust.

Can and will the characters forgive and move forward?

The details allowed me to paint a perfect scene in my mind, and every emotion leapt from the pages. The joy, lust, love, anger, pain and anguish- I felt it ALL. I may have even cried 2 times. Maybe. lol! The angst kept me on the edge of my seat, clutching my poor heart.

There were moments that I wanted to back hand Cam myself- like I was literally seething with anger towards him. But as more of the story unfolds and true intentions are revealed, he redeems himself in my eyes and once again he’s back to the unbelievably swoony and deliciously sexy character I grew to love.

TL Swan knows how to craft a story that will draw you in to its web and never let you go, like a spider to a fly. I was so engrossed in Cam and Ashley’s story, I didn’t want it to end. I'm a re-reader of books I love and Dr. Stanton has found a place amongst my list of favourites.

I received this book as an Amazon bouncy box prize giveaway from an author page on Facebook. I went into Dr. Stanton completely blind. No spoilers or anything had been given to me and I was unfamiliar with Ms. Swan and her writing style because I hadn't read anything of hers before. Right off the bat, I began proofing... because it is my default setting... and I was enjoying the book, the first chapter is quite hilarious, you know?

However, I didn't realize the book was over 600 pages long...and that the author is obviously not a native of the US...even though the main characters are. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that *I* am an idiot for proofreading an entire book that the author will never see my notes on. And I made *A LOT* of notes... there really needed to be a more thorough editing done, and there was issues with formatting, as well.

Now, back to the review...this is interesting for me... because I was *in* it... until I wasn't and then there was no way I was ever coming back. And I can't really say anything else without a spoiler, I feel. And I dont do spoilers, lol! I can just say that as a nurse... there is a definite doctor mentality. And I think that Ms. Swan nailed it with Cameron. There were some hot and sexy times too.

I thank Ms. Stephie Walls for her giveaway that allowed me to win this book! Overall, with everything considered, I'd give this book 3 stars.

Somehow I found myself reading another book by this author hoping that this time might be a ‘hit’ and not another ‘miss’ like the last book of hers that I’ve read. Well, I can’t say “I told you so” to myself after I consciously and decidedly picked this book up. 🤦🏻‍♀️

The book started out strong and I thought the accidental pregnancy trope would work really well with the main characters’ story. It did for a while until… it did not. 😓 It just proved that not all books with kids can be so interesting and deserving of an average rating at the very least — because even poor four-year old Owen cannot salvage the tragedy that is the love story of his parents. 😒💔
