What an incredible short devotional. I'm not a big fan of devotionals because I find them shallow but this devotional that rich in its contemplations. Knowing a little about Susannah Spurgeon I am encouraged by her love and dependence on the Lord. She also knew what true suffering was like and encourages believes who are facing their own trials. Highly Recommended!

Comfort for Suffering Saints

I can and will read this book over and over again. I began this book in the midst of a dark season of depression and hopelessness over my chronic illness and infertility. Reading this could not be more timely. Susannah is a true spiritual mother and writes from the truths of scriptures as if she is encouraging you in person. A short read with tons of quotes that are true gems to memorize.

I initially bought this book to slowly work my way through, but I couldn’t help but keep reading! What a treasure this book is for the weary and afflicted Saint! This will remain out so that I can regularly come back to Mrs. Spurgeon’s wisdom and insight from God’s word. I will read again and again. I’ve already ordered her other book “A Carillon of Bells” and am greatly looking forward to diving in.

This was an exceptional book by Susannah Spurgeon during a time that the Lord was having me learn more about the refining fire. It was a wonderful supplement, and I found her teaching and guiding me through some difficult times with this one. Understanding that our times are in His hands and He disciplines whom He loves was a huge blessing that I gleaned from this book.

A powerful and beautifully written book. Susannah Spurgeon writes with the wisdom of her husband, Charles Spurgeon, but with a woman's touch.
