Kevin Breaux has yet again brought me into the world of Sabrina London. This second book of the series definitely delivers with all of its promises. This book is a lot longer than the first book, but it kinda has to be. So much happens in this book that it feels like I started it so long ago. I will say straight off—you don’t need to read the first book, but I highly recommend it. It will help with a lot of questions you’ll have about the species and backstory.

Something that I noticed right off is the title—the first one was One Smoking Hot Fairy Tail, and this one follows suit by starting with “two.” With this pattern, we can of course assume that the third book will start with “three,” and so on, but I also appreciated the “polluted” part of the title, which added a nice little foreshadowing.

This book picks up right where the first one left off. We start with Cade going to see Moselle and Jackson at the hospital right after Moselle called him. What he finds is much, much worse than he expected. This book was so action-packed that it was sometimes a bit hard to remember what was happening with whom, but after a while it was easier to keep up. Because this book uses several POVs, we switch from one action-packed scene to another pretty frequently. This allows us to see what’s happening to Moselle, Jackson, Sabrina, Cade, Weston, and everyone else.

There is so much action in this book. Honestly at first it was confusing to have to keep up with everyone, but then I really liked it. Breaux is really good with the plot lines and with the creativity. The world-building is great in this series (as it tends to be with all of his books). I love that with Breaux you can count on him to show and not tell the world and history—in a good way. Many times authors struggle with telling the readers about their world and creatures, but Breaux does it in such a flawless way that we learn more about them without being bombarded with details.

Once again, I absolutely despised Jackson. Not only is he annoyingly naïve, but he also messes everything up with Sabrina’s friend group. I thought I’d like him more in this book, because he’d annoyed me in the first too, but I really didn’t. He considers himself to be on the same level of importance as everyone else, when he really isn’t. He frustrates me because he is a wrench in the gears of this book. While I’m sure that is his purpose (though the ending hints to him being much more important later on), I still didn’t find any sort of attachment to him whatsoever. Which honestly goes to show how good the author is. Any author that elicits that much emotion from me is a great one.

Sabrina, again, is pretty much self-centered and wants what she cannot have. While towards the end of the book she seems to accept her responsibility more, all she really seems to focus on is herself and her needs. I am interested in her storyline, but not really in her. She seems really egotistical and doesn’t really seem to care about the consequences. While Moselle and Cade seem to understand the gravity of the situation, Sabrina seems to find the time to focus on sex and booze, like always. Even when one of those threaten her relationship with her friends, she doesn’t seem to care. I know that she is young and Cade and Moselle are much older but that doesn’t seem like a good enough reason and I hope she matures a lot soon.

Cade is a character that I feel more attached to, just because he seems to be more aware of the danger and with everything that’s happening. He actually has a plan to defeat their enemies, and cares about everyone. I’m super interested in his and Leanne’s backstory and am hoping we’ll get more of that in the next book. However, sometimes I get a little tired of the Confederate pride that he’s got going on. When Joe pointed out that vampires are racist I kinda giggled a little, because it’s pretty accurate. Besides this, however, he is a pretty cool character. In the first book we really didn’t know much about him and we got to explore him more in this one. What I find interesting is that he causes so much strife for Sabrina because she refuses to accept what he has already told her. She thinks that she can change him. But Cade has been pretty straightforward about who he is and has never told her that he was going to stay.

Joe is a minor character but a very interesting one. Slime and fungi beings are absolutely brilliant of the author to create. I love that idea and I love the part they play in this novel. I’m looking forward to seeing the part that they play in the next novel (because we know at the end of the book that they will play a big part in the next novel).

I feel really bad for Moselle. All she tries to be is herself and she seems to get the losing end of the stick. She didn’t chose her life. She didn’t ask to need others’ life forces to survive. She just does the best she can. And she gets highly judged for it. I understand said person’s reactions, but she seems to get no compassion. However, I’m intrigued by the last scene with her in it. The author had been building this specific bit up, with her fixation on the staff and things like that, so I’m excited for her storyline.

One of the characters I’m most interested in is Dunyasha. She highly intrigues me and I have an immense respect for her, mostly because of all the build-up that she’s gotten. She’s the only female character that isn’t highly sexualized by both the other characters and the narrator that it’s refreshing. However, that might be just because she’s in the book for a short amount of time.

I am a little disappointed with a certain story arc with Jackson, but I trust the author enough that I’m sure the reasoning will come to light soon.

All in all, this was a good book with amazing world-building and characters that have flaws but serve a very distinct purpose. While at times the book seems a little long, the action and plot will keep you turning the page to find out what happens next. I recommend this book to people who love myths with a twist, lots of action, great storylines, and don’t mind profanities and descriptive NSFW scenes.

I was lucky enough to recieve this book from the author himself Kevin James Breaux by email and under strict instructions not to send it to other people (which I didn't)

The cover of the book looks amazing as did the first book (I wish I had them on my shelf 😂)

The book starts off right after the first book (which is brilliant as there isn't a gap between each book) action from the onset between every otherworldly creatures imaginable. As our plucky group seem to go their own way and do their own things they're immediately thrown back into surviving and helping each other.

The story goes between each character as you're following them through their own eyes. Each character is unique and have their own special abilities. Sabrina who is a fairy now has a bodyguard called Weston who is an air spirit and she is about to sign a record deal trying to live a normal life. Jackson who is human and Moselle who is a mummy are in her subbasement keeping safe. Then there is Cade who is a vampire (my favourite character) now has to go back to his family to sleep before he turns into a ghoul. I like how the book is set in modern times which is really relatable (not set hundreds of years ago as nobody can relate to that 😂) as Hollywood celebrities were being name dropped.

The background of each of the characters have been really well written (mainly in the first book) but you do discover more of their past in this book also. Which helps you understand the characters that much more. Kevin introduces new characters in this book also which didn't come as a suprise. The new characters fit in really well and felt like they had been there from the beginning. I especially like Joe if Cade wasn't in this book then he would've been my favourite character.

I'm not one who usually reads books with vampires, fairies and mummies but these books have piqued my interest. I need to discover more books like this.

I can't recommend this book enough. If you like reading fantasy books then please pick this one up. You won't be disappointed (obviously buy the first book 😂)

I can't thank Kevin enough for sending me this book I really do appreciate it.

Kevin does it once again! I love that the characters continued to develop through the second book! Often I find that the character and their background was thrown in my face too fast during the first book, this is not the case.
Just when Sabrina escaped danger once, and with her wings in tact, she finds herself once again in harms way. This time by an entire race of beings that lurk beneath us daily. Tensions rise between friends in this book, but will they once again defeat the evil thrown in their path??
With his amazing visionary techniques, Kevin once again brings a whole new world to life. While reading intense scenes I often found my heart racing. I not only read the book, I lived it.
Each character has their own story line, but astoundingly they all blend well together. There is no clash between them with one in the spot light. They are all well developed and with great detail. At the end of this book Sabrina takes charge to do what she must to save not only her friends, but the world. She shows her true strength. Moselle is more in touch with her ancient past. Cade knows he must be with his clan and is more aware now than ever. Jackson is left knowing he is only human, but he longs for what he cannot seem to have. I love these characters as if they were my own friends.
Overall, this book kept me on the edge of my seat and when I finished I actually yelled no! It leaves you wanting more...wondering what happened to each character. Where will they each go? The only good thing about the ending is that I now know there will be another book! Kevin is a prime example of a great author who knows how to not only grab your attention, but keep it.

Brilliant second book in a great series. I love the characters and now this story has added more to their own stories and this will only increase with the next story in the series.

Kevin is a brillant writer and each character is unique as is their setting. Kevin's writing is witty, clever AND very naughty at times. As this book is the second of a series you already know the characters but you now begin to see perhaps another side to their character you perhaps didn't see before and often you are thrown. Kevin really has added and moulded his creations further and you can still see his deep care for each of their situations.

The storyline is fast paced and you are instantly thrown into the story and into each characters dilemmas. You want to know what is happening so the book is hard to put down as is the first of the series.
Definitely a read as is One Smoking Hot Fairy Tale.

Kevin Breaux has done it again! Very well written novel. You have to read the first one to understand the characters relationships and this book goes into so much depth and discription. I completed it in two day, the fastest I've ever read a book. I could not put it down. He starts with all together then each chapter is about one person and they all come together meeting up near the end in attempt to destroy this unworldly they have encountered. There was mention that Sabrina might be pregnant by Jackson...this left me wanting to know more about their future. I'll be waiting for the third book. This review is completely unbiased and I have not received a free copy I purchased my copy from Barnes and nobles. Keep up the fantastic work Kevin.

Great follow up. Longer. More action. More sexy-sex. I loved all the backstory and building. These characters make so many mistakes. And it makes the story so interesting. I am really enjopying the series. Great work.

I thought this story was over the top! It was better than the first in The Water Kingdom series of One Smoking Hot Fairy Tail, which I thought was great and refreshing from other fairy stories I've read. It starts off where the last book left off. All the main characters were brought back. Each chapter is full of surprises, with action, danger and very vivid. I was pulled into the story from the start and it was hard to put the book down to the end I didn't want it to end. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I highly recommend this series!

Two Polluted Black-Hearted Romances begins where One Smoking Hot Fairy Tail ends. It is best to read them in order to avoid confusion. The story is set in Los Angeles a city that is changing rapidly. Buildings are sinking and it thought to be earthquakes but Caleb, Sabrina, Moselle and Jackson know differently. They are on the run from wraiths, assassins sent when one of the supernatural errs. Caleb and Sabrina have been separated from each other and from Moselle and Jackson. All of them are worried that some of their friends did not survive, but each has found a way. The danger to them comes in an unexpected form and as it nears, they find themselves drawn to each other. Jackson, the only human, finds his reality continually shifting and is not sure he can live with that shift. Then he finds Sabrina and his goal becomes her. The world is changing rapidly and everyone will need to adjust and be a part of the coming battle.

Two Polluted Black-Hearted Romances is fast paced with more than a few twists and turns. The danger is real and comes at them from all sides and from unexpected sources. Just when they thought it was safe, more trouble and danger came their way. There are more than a few casualties to these changes and not necessarily fatal changes. I thought the end was intriguing and cannot wait to read the next one to see what comes next.
