Why does this author like cheating so much???!!!

I wanted this book so bad and now after finally getting my hands on it, I was disappointed that it didn't received a more expanded plot.. I wanted to explore more this romance between Tyler and Jade, but if Penelope considered that this romance had to be a novela, I totally respect her decision.

I don't read many novellas, but when I found out this one was free I jumped on it.
So... we met these two characters in Neighbor Dearest. They're Damien's brother and Chelsea's sister and the first time they saw each other, Tyler made an ass of himself, getting weirdly awe-struck by the gorgeous Broadway actress... with his girlfriend just a few feet away.
As far as novellas go, this one had good pacing, although I felt like the ending was a bit rushed. The fact that Tyler was with someone else for most of the book didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. And I highly appreciated how he broke up with Nicole before doing anything with Jade. It made up for the emotional affair, given how much time he'd spent chatting with Jade behind Nicole's back.
Tyler: By the way, I saw our nephew today.
Jade: How is he?
Tyler: He called me a dick.
Jade: OMG…I just literally spit out my drink.
Tyler: Careful. You wouldn’t want to have to take that Snuggie to the dry cleaners. That would be embarrassing.
Jade: LOL. Okay…Little D is only a year old. There is no way he called you a dick.
Tyler: I swear to God. It was his first word. Chelsea was there and confirmed it. He looked straight into my eyes and said, “dick.”
Jade: What did you do?
Tyler: I nodded and said, “Touché, little man.”
There are a few plot twists that helped deepening their connection and I was glad that they had the time to get closer, talk and develop a friendship before diving into relationship territory. So when they finally got together, it didn't feel awkward. There wasn't a 'real' separation, but rather a small misunderstanding that was easily resolved and, being an ambitious woman, I totally swooned over how Tyler resolved their long-distance relationship issue.
All in all, it was quick, sweet, fun with a sprinkle of sexy on top. It doesn't of course measure up to Neighbor Dearest and all that texting filled lots of pages that just flew by so that in the end it felt even shorter, which is why I gave it four stars instead of five. Still, I highly recommend it. This writer knows how to handle all the elements without anything going missing or feeling lacking.
"There are only two choices. We do nothing…or we do everything. I don’t feel like there’s an in between with you, Jade. I feel like I went from zero to a hundred from the moment I first saw you."

This is a story about Jade and Tyler, Chelsea and Damien's siblings in that order and what really happened to Tyler during Christmas. LOL.
This is me! Oh my gosh, I just found the male version of my life story! It was like my alter ego in another universe. It was so short tho, that made me sad :(
Tyler was awestruck when he first met Jade, talked gibberish, dropped his beer, acting like a loon and so on. Well it was the same for Jade actually, she just hid it better.
After some time Jade accidentally sent a friend request to Ty and they became close, but the problem is Tyler has a girlfriend. What makes matters worse is that they are hitting a long term kind of relationship, we are talking about years of being together people.
Fate having a sense of humor, brought them together under sad circumstances making them both realize that they want each other so much.
I really got what they are saying and I can definitely relate. First, it really dumb to drop someone you have a relationship with for a long time, two, you say you are not having an affair but the real term would be your having an emotional affair with somebody else and last, against all odds if your mind says something rational but your heart tends to say a different version, drop everything and prepare for shit.
Im gonna do my best to defend this from cheater-haters cause they really ain't cheating. They were honest and Ty even had the courtesy telling Nicole he wanted out. Nothing even happened between them while Nicole was still in the pucture, it was just they were attracted to each other so much they can't deal. And I'm glad they pushed through, cause I'm coming from experience. The thing you'll regret the most is when you'll be the one standing in front of 'em and asking yourself why your not that person who they are with.

I was sooo happy to get this novella about Tyler (Damien's brother) and Jade (Chelsea's sister). Both Damien and Chelsea are from Neighbor Dearest and we found out in their book that both Jade and Tyler are actors.
It was sooo funny when Jade and Tyler first meet. I loved his reaction and I loved how Damien gave him a hard time.
This book was the perfect example of how a dual POV is necessary because I sooo needed to know how Jade felt!
Unfortunately, they both have obstacles that prevents them from being together. I was a little surprised at how long it took Tyler but when he decides on something, he really decides.
And just as soon as I was getting into it, it ends. But it was a great read and if you've loved the other two books in the series, I really recommend reading this!

Historia cortita sobre dos personajes secundarios de un libro de Penelope Ward que no he leído. No me acaba de convencer el proceder del protagonista masculino Ty durante buena parte de la historia, me parece muy egoísta. Entiendo que eso te pueda pasar, pero no me gusta cómo lo gestiona el personaje.

Jaded & Tyed es una novela corta y rapida ( la lei en menos de una hora ) que tiene como protagonistas a Jade y Tyler, personajes secundarios en Neighbor Dearest.
Cuando descubri que este libro existia me senti bastante curiosa, no imaginaba como la autora desarrollaria la historia para juntar a esta pareja pero lo cierto es que la lectura me dejo un sabor amargo al terminarla.
Honestamente me senti incomoda durante toda la lectura, en parte porque todo me resultaba demasiado precipitado y forzado pero tambien porque la situacion que se da en esta novela me parecio desagradable y fea, ese hecho junto con la rapidez en la que se desenvuelve la trama le quito todo lo agradable a la historia ( que ya era poca desde el comienzo, en mi opinion ).
En resumen, el unico aspecto positivo que le encuentro a esta pequeña novela es lo agil que es de leer, ya que lo que narra no fue de mi agrado y la pareja protagonista me parecio muy fantasiosa e irreal, quizas si hubiera tenido un desarrollo mas amplio hubiera sido un mejor libro.

To be very clear, I would want to give this a 1 star but due to the love I have for Penelope's writing and funny dialogues and of course the appearance of my favorite couple Damien and Chelsea I won't be harsh with this one. And if you're wondering why this story is not for me, here's why:
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
-right from the end of Neighbor Dearest I can already tell that Tyler was having some attraction going on with Jade (ie: tounge twisted scene) and it seems cute for some other people but knowing how he and Nicole actually lasted a year and even said the words I love yous was already a hint that the relationship was good but this has to happen? Really???
-Chelsea's reaction. Considering she had been cheated on or to be specific, left in order to be with another woman she still was supporting the relationship her sister and Tyler was having which was exactly how her past relationship was.
-Insta-love. I get that insta-attraction is a thing but daaaamn saying things like Iloveyou in a span of few conversations and some few meetups is just so unlikely and weird. I mean that might be what happened to him and Nicole but *le sigh* lets just say "they're different"
-Jade. She had been with relationships ending with guys having a relationship with other women and swore to never have that again and yet here she is now. Le face palm.
-I feel bad for Nicole. She seemed really cool and whatnot. She even is really sweet and loyal to Tyler. I appreciate how Penelope does not make the "other girl" less hateable though.
It could have been better if Nicole wasn't in the picture in the first place. We didn't even see from her POV. I just don't enjoy the whole cheating thing being interpreted as sweet and some shit like that. I just don't enjoy this type of things.
Some of the things I found enjoyable in this story though was charcaters from Neighbor Dearest appearance specifically Little D and his first word and the dogs, the Tyler with zebra snuggies and the knowledge that their last names were alcoholic drink.
I'm not hating on Penelope's writing, btw. Just ranting my feelings out. Still love love loved Neighbor Dearest!

Who wouldn't love a quick little romp through the mind of Penelope Ward on a drizzly day like today? I wouldn't! This was a newsletter gift, maybe..I truly don't remember how it landed on my Kindle but it was an irresistible little novella that didn't take long to read. Short and sweet with just the right blend of 'from the first moment' fascination between the lead characters that, for certain circumstances would be unwise to act upon. Anticipation, heat and longing. Both trying to ignore that instant attraction between them.
What a fun way to spend a an hour or two! But of course, I knew it would be that way with a little treat like this from a go to author who's work I throughly enjoy, every time!

I know this was just a short novella but man oh man, it read more like an amateur short story with no substance. Jade and Tyler are both actors - she on Broadway in NYC and Tyler with a smaller career in San Francisco. They are connected to one another through his brother and her sister's marriage. Tyler has a live in girlfriend but it doesn't stop him going all googly eyed over Jade when he first meets her. Cut to a year later and the two are in constant contact on Facebook keeping it a big secret from everyone. Although there is no physical cheating, it most definitely falls under the realm of emotional cheating.
As for the characters themselves, there's hardly any real development of them. Neither are noteworthy and the story is so rushed that the whole thing seems like words to fill pages. Know this was a freebie but story is story is story and this one hardly qualified.

This was a short novella featuring Jade and Tyler. Overall, I enjoyed it, but I wasn’t totally on board with the timing for how things went down between them. It just seemed unnecessary to add that layer of drama with Nicole. It only made Tyler less likeable and Jade into the very thing she seemed to despise based on her history. I think it was especially hard to see them like this because I loved both their characters so much in Neighbor Dearest. I did love seeing Damien and Chelsea again though and giggled when Little D’s first word was revealed. This one was emotional at times, but I’m glad that we did get to see more of these characters, even if it was just a quick novella :)

Quick and fun read!
(just watch out for the red flag - see below)
This is a short and sweet follow on from the amazing Neighbor Dearest, featuring Jade and Tyler (sister of Chelsea and brother of Damian), but it can easily be read as a standalone.
I fell in love with both Jade and Tyler while reading Neighbor Dearest. They were there for Chelsea and Damian during their dramas, an integral part of their lives, but actually never met each other until a spine-tingling meeting at the end of the book – and it’s almost a year until they ‘accidentally’ but oh-so-naturally get in touch once again.
Obviously there was an instant attraction between them, and that’s still very much evident even all this time later, but Damian is in a committed relationship and Chelsea lives on the other side of the country. But that doesn’t stop them from engaging in some absolutely fantastic banter that is fun, natural and highly entertaining. And as they get to know each other, they grow closer and strong feelings develop, and I loved watching them fall for each other.
They have a lot to overcome in order to be together and their journey has some ups and downs, and I loved that Ward was able to inject so much into such a short novella.
This would have been an easy 5 stars, but I was SO incredibly disappointed in Tyler for not breaking off his relationship sooner. Nothing physically happens between him and Jade while he’s with his girlfriend, but there is a definite attraction there – they both admit it and they talk about it, all while he’s in a relationship! – and let me tell you from somebody who has been on the other end of a partner having an ‘emotional affair’, it hurts just like the real thing, and I wish it hadn’t happened that way for them when it could have been so easily avoided. I would have respected Tyler a whole lot more if he’d broken it off with his girlfriend when he realised how strongly he felt about Jade. Grrrrr.
But if you can get past that, this one is a great read.

Esta novella deixou-me novamente com o coração cheio. Depois de reler o antecessor deste, tive de voltar a pegar neste, já que fazia mais sentido ler tudo seguido e assim reavivar a memória.
A Jade, melhor amiga da Chelsea, e o Tyler, irmão do Damien, quando se conheceram, têm uma história bastante engraçada para contar: a figura que o Tyler acabou por fazer quando colocou os olhos nela pela 1º vez.
Só que o timing não era o deles, já que ele estava comprometido. Mas depois de alguns meses e ao carregar num botão de "aceitar amizade", começam a falar um com o outro, e tudo isso faz mudar a vida destes actores, que vivem em lados opostos dos EUA.
Mas quando o amor é mais forte é necessário fazer escolhas. E alguém terá de arriscar tudo.

5 Short & Sweet Stars!
The only thing I would have changed about this book, would have been the length! However, beggars can't be choosers, and I NEEDED this story after falling in love with, NEIGHBOR DEAREST! Oh...and it was FREE! :-D
Tyler and Jade's relationship started off unconventionally, no doubt. A strong mutual attraction happened before they knew what hit them. It's hard to pinpoint a specific moment an "emotional affair" begins sometimes. As it's not always clear or intentional when your getting to know someone your attracted to, and in this case, they just so happen to be in-laws. Each situation is different. Although, if either one had been married, that would have been a whole different scenario for me!

Sweet
I'm glad Jade and Tyler got their own story. This was a quick listen, but entertaining nonetheless. I liked how their friendship started and how things moved on from there. Ty was sweet with Jade, there for her when she needed someone the most.
I felt kind of bad for Nicole- I'm sure she thought Ty breaking up with her came out of the blue. I'm glad he did break up with her though, before things progressed with Jade.
Like Neighbor Dearest I enjoyed the ending the most.
Jacob Morgan is always great to listen to, no matter what. I liked the emotion Andi Arndt brought to Jade's character, and she does a good job with her male voices.

Este libro viene a ser como un Spin Off de Neighbor Dearest. Los hermanos de Nicole y Damien y son: Jade y Tyler. Tyler desde que vio a Jade quedo en estado de shock jajajajaja.. y eso para un bocazas como él ya es mucho. De ellos surge algo segun para ellos prohibido y bueno Tyler tiene novia, claro que no es la situación para esto, pero las circunstancias dan un giro inesperado y acá vemos que pasa entre ellos.

As much as I loved some of the dialogue in this novella (especially the FB messages- they were hilarious 😂), I really disliked the ‘emotional cheating’ aspect of Jade and Tyler’s relationship.
Sure enough, sometimes we can be with people that were not destined for, and thus fall for the ones were meant to be with, but I still felt really bad for Nicole.
Other than that, it’s a funny and witty novella that’s quite entertaining.
