Desperate to save her coffeehouse from ruin, the last thing Leia Bellamy needs in her life is a man … especially when it’s the same one who deserted her after their shotgun wedding when she was 20 years old.

But eight years have passed, and the young ensign she loved is now a hardened warrior and Navy SEAL, Lieutenant Aidan MacDermott.

When Aidan returns to Annapolis for the promotion ceremony of his former SEAL commander, all Leia wants to do is avoid him for his two-week stay… a taller order than she can manage since he’s part owner in the ice cream shop next door to her coffeehouse.

Aidan barely resembles the man who reluctantly broke Leia’s heart solely to protect her dreams of a future—a secret he never revealed to her.

But the truth comes out when destiny—and a lovable dog—seem determined to give Aidan and Leia a second chance at love.

When Kate Aster was in fifth grade, she wrote her debut novel on a spiral-bound notebook–a science fiction which ended with the tragic destruction of all humanity.

Fortunately, she’s gotten a lot more upbeat.

Now preferring romantic settings and blissfully happy endings, Kate just released her eighth book available on Amazon.

Kate is an avid snorkeler, “beach read” fanatic, and margarita connoisseur. She is so grateful for the support and positive reviews from her readers. Thank you!

I really didn't like the book. It was just weird that he left and moved on and acted so nonchalant about the whole thing. They were married for goodness sake. Oh well. Just not my type of story. Both of them had other partners and it was just too new adulty for me. I didn't even care if they stayed together. Skimmed the last 35% of it. Just wanted it over.

I am such a sucker for second chances and Aidan and Leia barely counted as a first chance 8 years ago. But destiny, fluke, or Devine appointment takes place and spending a little time together has wheels turning once again. I could definitely understand the reasons for Aidan's decisions 8 years prior and I also understood Leia' years of anger. But I so badly wanted their puzzle pieces to finally fall into place. I just couldn't see a way for that to happen. (Been there, done that, puzzle never happened.) So glad that for the outcome of their story! This does have an HEA, but it's not an easy one. Their puzzle has a bit of a different shape. I'd love to see a novella for a continuation of Aidan and Leia's story! Wonderful characters, awesome description of people, places and things! I've really enjoyed this series!

5 stars! I just just about everything that Ms. Aster writes and when I saw that this was a second chance romance, I knew it was going to be a winner... and I couldn't have been more right! I just adored Aidan. He left Leia 8 years ago because he thought he was doing what was best for her, and I could completely sympathize with him. Leia has made her dreams come true despite cutting ties with some of the most important people in her life. She was funny, independent, and determined. When these two finally reconnected, I couldn't get enough!

I liked the plot of this novel a lot, and the romance progressed at a perfect pace. A great military romance and a fabulous addition to the series. Can't wait for more!

Eight years ago Leia Bellamy and Ensign Aidan MacDermott were married for less than 24 hours. Leia has since opened a coffee shop and learned that she can only rely on herself. Aidan MacDermott learned that he needed to prove himself... so he joined the SEALs. They are brought back together for one week.

Why I started this book: Aster spins a good yarn about life with a Navy man and living in Annapolis.

Why I finished it: Swift read, perfect beach book.

I enjoyed this book - both characters have appeared in other books in the series. The cast is familiar and while you wouldn’t need to read the rest of the series to enjoy this it’s probably worth doing so to fully understand all of the characters back stories.

Taking place in Annapolis, Aidan and Leia take a second chance at their first love. Are they able to get past the previous hurts and move on to a future with business setbacks and the possibility of a change in lifestyle in the air?

finally!

At last Aidan and Leia get a second chance after they were so cruelly torn apart. Aidan gave her up with the best of intentions but Leia neither knew nor cared she was heartbroken and hadn’t forgiven or forgotten him. Fate gave him another opportunity to win her back and he’s determined to take it with both hands. All the gang are included and it’s a wonderful conclusion to a fabulous series.

Love, love, love and Crabby coffee too!

I have fallen in love with Annapolis! I have read every single one of Kate Aster's books and she gets better and better! Her characters are well developed and so amazing that you can't help but fall in love right along with them! Or in the case of Aiden and Leia, fall in love all over again !!

This book is all about second chances. Leia and Aidan are fantastic characters. I absolutely loved the growth of these characters, the writing is wonderful, the plot/story pulled me in from the first page. Two thumbs way up for Kate Aster. I've loved every book of hers that I've read and love this one just as much.

never enough

For real! These are the best stories ever. Each one gets a bit better as you get to know more and more of the characters. I’m so glad one came out free and I got it because now I’ve read all but #2 and that one is next. So yes, you can read them out of order and still understand them.

I have loved all of Ms Aster's books - they are of the feel good variety.

I enjoyed this as much as the others - Aidan was an excellent H, at times I was a bit annoyed with Leia but her flaws were understandable. All round a good read and a worthy addition to the Tribute Books.

Good second chance story

I liked this second chance at love story for the most part. I didn't really like the reason for their first split, I found it unrealistic, but I liked the development of their present day relationship.

great read

I truly enjoyed this read as well as this series. I liked Joe Shey as an occurring player through the whole series. While some of the characters changed I liked the common thread, kind of endured himself to you almost like a fatherly figure giving advice.
