Newly-Minted Regional Alpha, Aeson Silverman hit the jackpot. Power, prestige, and wealth, he’s got everything a wolf-shifter could ask for.

Or so he thought…

Being the Alpha is not the playboy lifestyle he’d imagined.

Despite devastatingly good looks and an impressive wit, he can’t seem to get Emma MacBride, the hottie doctor from another pack, to give him the time of day.

Unfortunately a bruised ego is only the beginning of Aeson’s troubles.

Someone has been poisoning the minds of other territorial Alphas, systematically pitting neighbor against neighbor. And the moment he takes control of the Long Teeth territory the rising storm of dissension finds a way into his pack.

Allying himself with the powerful Olde Town pack, Ace chooses comradery over aggression and invites warring neighbors to join him for a meeting to establish peace.

Diplomacy comes with a reward earning him a date with the elusive doctor MacBride.

But every choice the young Alpha makes is under scrutiny and when his peaceful summit ends with the death of a high ranking wolf, the fate of his pack and his leadership hangs in the balance.

Three and a half
You would imagine that being made Alpha over a pack of wolves would be easy. Well when faced with your own family not to mention other Alpha's coming into your territory it's not exactly a walk in the park and that's exactly the problem that Ace is faced with. As an ally of the Olde Town pack he's been asked to host a summit to determine if scheming Alpha Leif should forfeit his life. Clearly Leif has those loyal to him but can Ace keep control over the proceedings? Dissent and treachery seem rife and then there's the tricky problem of the attraction Ace has for the cool doctor who has arrived. Emma isn't exactly bowled over by Ace as he struggles to impress her and challenges him at every turn. Yet when a body is discovered it's time to set aside prejudices and work together before more bodies start to turn up!
I thoroughly enjoyed this authors Chronicles of the Uprising series and it's a huge recommendation from me but I'm a little disappointed by this take by her on wolves. I realise that this book connects with others that I've not yet read but it just lacked something for me. I think it's possibly that the characters felt human and there is very little that sets them apart as shifters. I'd expect a wolf to have amazing senses such as hearing and smell so when something bad happens they could react quickly but no villains just creep about which meant I couldn't believe in their 'otherness '.
It does have suspense running throughout and the overall plot held my attention with an evil manipulative villain and the surprises kept on coming. Ace is still feeling his way and I liked that he occasionally struggled with his new mantle. What I really didn't like was the romance that felt forced. We are meant to believe this couple have chemistry and frankly I didn't detect any so even though I could empathise with Ace unfortunately his scenes with the prickly Emma just left me cold. Plus the end felt extremely rushed and that's possibly the only time that I believed that these characters had a animalistic blood thirsty side.
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Really good

This was a really good book, there was a lot to it. I loved the twists and turns, the mystery to solve. I also liked how things went slower between the two falling for each other, in most other books it's instant everything. Just all around great read.

This is a thrilling, fast paced story that's an excellent mix of intrigue, action, suspense and romance. It will have your heart racing with excitement as the conspiracy builds and lives are lost. The author did a great job of combining the different storylines and characters from her other books, while still ensuring it is a stand-a-lone read that is just as exciting and understandable to new readers as it is to old. I loved the personalities in this story, but Emma is definitely my favourite, though Jay's humour and loyalty makes him a close second. You can not help but like Emma, she is sassy, caring, independent and strong, but also has faults and vulnerabilities that soften her sharp edges. I enjoyed the slow burn attraction between her and Ace, it created great chemistry and made you want to see where it could lead in the future. This is an exciting, heart pounding story that leaves you wanting to read more about this world and its characters.

I haven't read any of the previous books in this series. So I am new to it and the author's writing. I was interested in the book because of the intrigue promised in the blurb. The romance part was just a bonus. This was an interesting take on wolves and I enjoyed it as a short read. Yes, it was a rather fast read!

The characters were inked a bit differently. The wolves weren't always full of alphaness. They had the right mix of human and animal traits. I actually loved that idea though I did hope Ace was a bit more dominant than Emma. Comparatively, Emma seemed to be more Alpha than Ace in the starting. But near the end, he grows into his power while Emma becomes more human. I think Emma had a very good facade of nonchalance. She was more posing but it was very convincing. I love her growing more into a person with more heart.

The promised intrigue was delivered with triple times the effect. I loved the way the author played it out. The power play and the resolution had the story go fast. It was a surprising twist at the end which satisfied me as a reader. The only problem I had was the beginning. The story felt sluggish in the starting. There was too much of the explaining of Who's Who and other incidents though it was needed to have a clear idea of the world and the characters. It picked up when all the packs converged at Ace's place. Then it was a race to the end. The romance didn't overshadow the intrigue. It was light and suited to the plot but not the characters, as in wolves.

All in all, I can see myself reading more of this series in the future.

I received a copy for reviewing purposes which doesn't affect my review in any way.

My one line review : A surprisingly twisted intrigue with a light romance.

My rating : 4/5

My reread factor : 3/5

The writing is on point, Katie Salidas creates an interesting, entertaining, and unique story. The only thing that usually doesn't click with me is the characters; I usually find them annoying, but I enjoy the story and Katie Salidas' take on werewolves that I tend to overlook that I don't care for some of the characters. Being Alpha has some really great suspense and intrigue, and it's great to see a different wolf pack. Emma is the lead in this book, and I didn't really like her from the previous books, and that continued into this book for me. I do like that she is smart and strong, but she just rubs me the wrong way a lot of times, and I hated the Brady scenario. Emma and some heavy players from her pack travel to join up with some other pack leaders to discuss enemies, and situations that need to be dealt with. Aeson is the pack leader being host to the other pack leaders, and once he sees Emma, he likes what he sees, and has hopes to begin something romantic with her, but she's a tough nut to crack, so their connection stalls out a few times. When enemies up their game, Aeson needs to prove that he is a strong alpha, and discover the enemy creating the chaos. I liked that there are chapters from Aeson's POV, I found him likable, so I enjoyed those chapters. This book felt a little unfinished to me, and I'm not sure if there's going to be another book, but if there were I'd like see more of what happens to these characters. Good read about werewolves!

Emma is the doctor from the Olde Town Pack. After their battle with rival packs she is responsible for the care and evaluation of a captured Alpha who seems to have twisted skills of getting into other wolves minds. She is horrified by Leif and is glad when they take him to the council meeting for a trial.
Aeson is the new alpha of the Long tooth pack. He is enjoying the wealth and power and women his new position brings. However he has been chosen to host the council meeting and trial. This is something totally new for him and he is nervous and stressed. It doesn't help that when he meets the Old Towne delegation, his wolf takes notice of Emma. He wants to impress her so he shows off his power and territory. Emma is a high ranking wolf herself so she is not impressed with his show. She is attracted to Aeson but he is acting conceited.
Wolf politics are making this council meeting difficult and when delegates turn up dead, Emma and Eason have their hands full figuring out what is really happening. Emma gets to see the real wolf behind the alpha and she is definitely interested.
This a great story with lots of twist and turns. I really liked Aeson and Emma. I voluntarily read a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

I loved this story! This was great to catch up with these characters again. This is part of the Olde Town Pack series but I haven't actually read the previous 2 books, I've read the Little Werewolf series. The series cross over each other but the books can be read as a standalone. I had no problem reading this book without having read the other Olde Town books, but I plan to, and while I had more enjoyment because I already knew some of the characters this can be read by itself. I really enjoyed the book and the characters. There is plenty of action and intrigue as we try and figure out who is behind what and what is going to happen next, along with a little bit of romance. I thought it was all blended together well. I was drawn in from the beginning and didn't want to put the book down once I started it. I had to figure out how Ace was going to work things out and the connection between Emma and Ace. I was engaged because of the characters as soon as I started reading it. The story is really well written and flows well. I really enjoyed the story and can't wait to read the next book and find out what happens next with these characters and between Ace and Emma.

I enjoyed this book. I've looked forward to another book from this author and this one was a good combination of some of her series. Aeson is the new alpha and with the title has come a multitude of headaches. Once he meets Emma, all he wants to do is impress her. There is a lot going on and Aeson has to keep his focus or he risks a lot more than his heart being broken.
I wasn't a huge fan of Emma. She was in love with someone who wasn't for her but also just kinda seemed fake. I loved the other characters coming back in and how this wasn't just focused on romance, but on pack, loyalty and laws. Pack brothers are close and I enjoyed watching how they relied on each other, though politics and everything swirled around them, it didn't stop them from having each others' backs.
It was a 4/5 for me. A good wrap up to the series (unless the author decides to *hopefully* write more!)

It was great how you can read this as a a stand alone even though it is the 3rd book in the series due to how the past story lines are touched on with enough info to know what has happened without going into too much detail to detract from the book. The characters are well developed and I like how you can connect with them as they also have times of doubt and vulnerability. I think the way Ace and Emma are attracted to each other but are completely hopeless on how to act with each other was great especially as they are both strong and intelligent people. I enjoyed how this book was not just a love story but also carrying on with the underlying story about the packs needing to work together and deal with issues that effect them all.

I haven't read the the first 2 books, but I most definitely will be now!

I was given an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review.

My favorite book thus far in the Olde Town pack series. The other books in the series have been pretty sexy and this one is more of a mystery/suspense. The plot makes it work so well I love it! The chemistry between the two leads builds as the intrigue and action flow for a fantastic combination that I could not set down. Emma is my favorite character so far, strong, smart, and reeling from a broken heart as she tries to unleash her inner cougar. Young alpha, Ace has his hands full but manages to find time for a little flirting while crap hits the fan all around. Heart pounding action and a sweet flirtation for a great read with characters I want to see more of. My voluntary review is based upon an ARC.

Suspense, mystery and romance.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Katie Salidas got it right--designing/writing all the characters, their personalities and attitudes so that all their reactions seemed realistic but did not spoil the building suspense. That suspense was almost a character itself--the mystery, the deceptions, the villainy were as much characters as were Leif, Emma, Regina, Brady, and the charming Tito. Emma's concerns over her growing feelings for the shifter Leif also contributed to the book's success. Would finding a solution to the mystery--or not, affect a potential HEA? You'll enjoy the characters and plot as much as I did! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

I love this bridge between the Little Werewolf and Olde Town Pack series. It's like Game of Thrones for werewolves. There's so much going on within the pages of this book, I don't even know where to begin. There's the fallout from the failed overthrow of the Olde Town Pack, but when all's said and done, that's just the tip of the iceberg. With non-stop intrigue and action, the budding romance between Ace and Emma could have easily been overshadowed. Instead, it acted as a catalyst to bring the pair closer together. I can't wait to see what happens next for my favorite werewolves.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

My new favorite wolf story!
Being Alpha is crazy good, suspenseful, & downright addictive!
Once I began I could not stop. Salidas has a way of doing that time & time again. Her stories contain the perfect balance of adrenaline pumping action, mystery, & unforgettable characters with the newest adding sizzling romance & suspense. Even the shady ones have you thinking about them long after its all said & done. I highly recommend this book!

The Perfect Book

I was very impressed once again qith this added book to the Old Town collection. It must be hard for an Alpha not to have a woman grovel at his feet. This is the perfect book that shows that that once in awhile love doesn't automatically happen.

I actually enjoyed a story where people find each other throughout the story, but with the war going on around them will they come together before it's too late. Come and enjoy this story with me, you won't regret it.

Until Next Time.... Tabi

First let me say that I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book, but it in no way influenced my feedback. I always leave an honest review.

I so enjoyed this story. I have not yet read the first 2 books, but I do have them now. It's kinda funny the way Emma puts the breaks on Aeson. Then add some psychos and it makes for a gr8 story.

I really enjoyed this story and look forward to more, I recommend this read 5 Thumbs up.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that it wasn't too easy to figure out who behind everything. The romance is slow and building. No insta-love here. I love that they didn't jump on each other and there is no conclusion to them yet. It leaves something for the next book to look forward to. The mystery may be solved but there is more to these characters that the readers can learn later. I also loved that past characters were part of the story as well.

Phenomenal! This is the third book of the Olde Town Pack Series and has all the things we like in a book: action, suspense, intrigue and romance. Being Alpha is a fast-paced paranormal romance that will take you on one hell of a ride. Highly recommended!

Katie Salidas' "Being Alpha" is the third tale in the Olde Town Pack series. Such great storytelling! So many twists and turns. A great paranormal. Emma & Ace are both such complex characters. Lots of overarching stories throughout the series. I have no idea how Katie Salidas weaves such a complicated web, but it ensnared me for sure!
