Something wicked is feeding off the living in a secluded part of Wonder Falls. In the farmlands, the police find the body of a local named Archie Jones. People jump from "Suicide Bridge" fairly frequently, but the Greenstone witches think something is peculiar about Archie's death. With no marks on his body and horse tranquilizer in his system, they suspect murder.
When Cath, Bea, and Aunt Astrid visit the farm, however, they discover something more twisted and sinister than plain old human murderers...
Wow! What a great story. It got so intense at times I had to put it down for a few minutes before I could continue reading. Cath, Bea and Aunt Astrid are drawn into a paranormal adventure that is truly horrifying. Be prepared to be scared. There is also fun, humor, food (unsure of the vegan stuff) and a hint of romance. This story didn’t frighten me as much as the one with the black eyed children. That one truly gave me the heebie-jeebies. I certainly wasn’t prepared for the ending in this story. I wanted so much for Cath to fall in love with Tom, but now I have to wonder if Blake is still in the picture. Hopefully, the next book will find Tom the winner.
Fun to visit with this group again. The shop is always an interesting place. This time some black magic is stirred up. Cath gets herself into a tight spot. Lots is going on in this story. it was an interesting read that kept me entertained. I received this book from the author.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I am a huge fan of this series! This is book #6 and the fast-paced action starts almost immediately! This book reads like a horror story, very freaky! A great read from beginning to end!
Enter the world of the Greenstone family in Wonder Falls, and you never know what manner of beast or creature will rear it's ugly head. You know for sure that Cath will communicate with animals telepathically, Bea will heal people and creatures with her hands and heart, and Aunt Astrid will see beyond the normal world into other dimensions. After that all bets are off-except-these women will risk personal safety to rid this dimension of evils that are worse than we can imagine. Amongst all this is love of family, pets, and friends.
When a well known customer rushes into the restaurant late one night during a terrible storm, Cath thinks she has hit a person in the road and is in shock. Partially right, the Greenstone women hear the story of a detour gone wrong with a bizarre creature in the road who was trying to get in the car. The next day the research begins to figure out what this is and why it is there. What follows is finding out about a long list of suicides on a bridge in the area, as well as a small farm completely enclosed within a larger farm. When Cath and Bea go on a fact finding mission, they expose themselves to the evil and horrors who now have them in their sites.
The Greenstone women are supported by Bea's husband Jake, and a new suitor of Cath's, Tom. Although in different towns, both men are police officers. For the first time, Cath has a boyfriend who understands her special abilities (being a witch without ever labeling it that) and respects what she and the other family members do. It is nice for Cath to have someone who is supportive for once after her past history with Jake's partner Blake.
This book was exciting and well written. I had to stay up late to finish it! While some things were the same as always (Cath communicating with her cat Treacle and other animals) others were new. I enjoyed the library visits, the tailing a truck, and the family meals that were described in more details. Solving the mystery of what is going on was interesting and by the time it was unravelled, gruesome! If you like witchcraft and don't want to read about a fluffy or giggly witch, then now is the time to give the Wonder Cats Mystery Series your attention. You won't be sorry!
I truly enjoyed this book, can't wait for the next one. I really did not want to read it this way, I have not read any of the others except for the first I did have all these books in my Kindle but they just disappeared somehow! Anyway this was really good and interesting some strange things go on at the farm.
a review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own
Un-fur-tunate Murders is Harper Lin's sixth novel in the paranormal mystery series featuring Cath, Bea and Aunt Astrid along with their magical cats. The ladies of Wonder Falls must investigate the happenings at "Suicide Bridge". This story is full of mystery, suspense and of course plenty of comefy. This is definitely a page turner. Get your copy immediately.
I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Really enjoyed this book in the Wonder Cats Mystery series. Interesting dilemma for Cath, Bea and Aunt Astrid to solve. Cath has a new love interest who seems to be very well suited to her. Treacle was integral to solving the mystery and we were introduced to some other animals that helped Cath when needed. Interesting twist at the end with Blake and setting us up for some new situations in the next book. I really like this series.
I love these stories!!! The Greenstone witches have to really do some magic to figure out just what is going on at the "Suicide Bridge" besides people dying there. Along with their magical cats these witches are in for another dangerous adventure. I received ARC of this book. The review is entirely voluntary and of my own opinion.
Cath, Bea, and Aunt Astrid are once again investigating a series of strange happenings. What they find is enough to make you look over your shoulder. This series just keeps getting better and better. I cannot wait for the next book. I received an ARC of this book for the purpose of an unbiased review.
What a brilliant build up of smoldering tension, although each book of the set of six is complete in itself, the continuity is maintained throughout. There is more than enough genuine scary strands weaving through the building tension To keep the light burning all night long. Bring on Book 7. Now!
Sixth in the series, and I am still enjoying it. Although the books do seem to keep getting a bit darker with each one. When the witches visit Suicide Bridge, they find evil on a nearby farm which they must try to banish. Cath Greenstone ends up hiding in a derelict attic hoping to evade their notice, while her cousin Bea calls for help. Her latest boyfriend looks like a keeper, but she still has some feelings for Blake. If you are interested in the "romance" angle, it is probably best to read these in order, to keep her love life straight. Luckily (for me) the romance is a fairly minor part of the stories so far, as her two suitors mainly show up to help or for family gatherings.
When a patron of the Brew Ha Ha almost crashes her car into the cafe and comes in terrified the three witches know something is up. Someone is summoning a demon and creating an area so dark and twisted supernatural parasites are infecting the locals and people are dying. The witches and their familiars are on the case, but when Cath rushes in she gets herself in more trouble than she can handle.
Wow this was crazy! Whatever that monster was, it was bad! From the first chapter I was so curious to see how the story would go and to find out more about the monster because it was really intense.
Tom has become a more important character! I knew it would happen, but it’s really cute to see. Blake annoys me so much, like he was dating Darla and now had the guts to be sad when Cath is with someone else?? Get a grip man.
The ending kept me on the edge until the last minute, I think it was definitely the most anticlimactic ending so far.
I did like this series from the start, but the more I read the better I found it. I know it’s not a literary masterpiece, but I always have fun and enjoy my time in these books.
A must read. If you haven't read any of these boos, get started today. Cath, Bea and Aunt Astrid are at it again. The excitement starts on the first few pages and continues throughout the entire book. When things aren't what they seem to be, Cath has to investigate. With the help of her new friend and her family things get interesting. Suspense, mystery and the usual comedy this book will keep you turning the pages.
