Fear keeps the truth away from his brothers. Fear and pain keeps him away from the man he loves.

Hawks MC member Maddox “Beast” Lawson had a difficult time growing up. Tired of being ridiculed because of his effed-up brain-to-mouth connection, it was easier to say nothing at all. Living in silence worked out just fine until that b*tch called Fate took his hearing, not only that, but she also threw him into the arms of the man who refuses to acknowledge that one hot night they shared.

Jay Conger, Knife to his brothers, loves pussy. Licking, fingering, screwing, he’ll take it any way it’s offered. After one surprising night with Beast, to say he’s freaked out is an understatement. Hell, even bananas have taken on a new meaning, and thinking about a certain someone’s body is too much. Unable to think straight, Knife is at an impasse, not only with his traitorous desire but with his heart.

Both lives are going to change. Only will it be for the better?

enjoy my rambling, incoherent thoughts of this book😌 mainly Knife just making me lose all my brain cells.
🍌 not this bitch deep throating a banana to see if he could handle sucking dick💀💀 send help.

🍌 the fact Maddox’s inner voice when he signed was still exactly the same as his biker voice, like ain’t, nothin’, lookin’ was so funny to me. how does one interpret him dropping the “g”s on present participles when he uses ASL😭

🍌 this was good until the surprise baby rocked up and ruined everything :// i usually love a baby in my romances bcos it makes it cuter... but there was already so much shit going on, so adding a baby to the mix was just annoying lmao. it sidetracked some really good storylines, mainly Maddox’s deafness.

i seriously wanted to:

description

🍌 if the author had focused solely on Maddox coming to terms with becoming deaf rather than have a million other side plots, this would have slapped pretty hard, ngl. bcos, idk if anyone can enlighten me, genuinely curious, can a person who is assimilating to their deafness learn ASL fully in less than a month?? i have doubts... so his storyline felt rushed when it had a lot of potential.

🍌 Knife knowing about his dad drugging, exploiting and abusing women for reasons not fully explained (i assume trafficking by the way it was put) yet did nothing for nearly two decades. all bcos “they were homeless hookers and at least they had a roof over their heads for a while.” i imagine most victims of abuse, trafficking and the like see it that way😌

🍌 Knife getting his arse crack and ball sack waxed bcos he googled shit about what being gay meant and he came to the conclusion to have Mrs Chang wax “his jungle” who he in turn called a cunt and a sadistic bitch bcos it hurt so bad. it was honestly therapeutic to read.

description

🍌 Mrs Chang was the real MVP of this book.

🍌 Knife chopping carrots for his infant daughter while wondering if he could cope with a carrot or something of a similar size up his arse felt illegal in someway, idk how it just did.

🍌 the mafia, MC, baby mama and maniacal father side plots were 🥱 gimme the good disability rep and the juicy best friends to lovers arc any day.

🍌 they were actually pretty cute as a couple once they had their shit together... well when Knife had his shit together. bcos when Knife was all in, he was all in and it was super sweet honestly. him “claiming” Maddox shouldn’t have been as cute as it was.

🍌 i never find it attractive or even understand it in a romance, when the hero doesn’t let their love interest masturbate bcos their partner’s body and sexual desire belongs solely to them?? i find it bizarre lmao. like Knife was genuinely fuming that Maddox was masturbating lmao. like...

description

🍌 not Maddox being selectively mute but finally speaking when he and Knife have sex for the first time💀 we found the cure ladies and gentlemen!!

🍌 the grand finale... Knife wanting to have a sword fight with Maddox using their dicks. like these men just declared their love and are about to have sex for the first time, and this bitch goes ”If I wasn’t in such a mood to take what was mine, I would have asked for a sword fight.”

that is all folks.

Hear Me Out was an okay book and I really liked the gay-for-you aspect of it. Jay and Maddox had some amazingly hot scenes together that I loved reading. My issue that made it an only okay book was that it seemed like there was a little too much going on throughout the story that took away from Jay and Maddox's relationship. I wanted to see more of them together so that I could actually feel a connection between them, but that never happened.

While I did like the parts of them that we got, it just wasn't enough for me. Call me greedy, I guess. The story did keep me intrigued though and it was nice to catch up with these characters again.

I've never read any book from this series before and I picked this one purely because it is m/m with a deaf hero. Though I feel the story didn't put much emphasize on 'Beast' being deaf. His deafness is kind of a non-issue because before long every brothers seems to learn sign language and Beast can read lips. Go figure.

Anyway, the highlight of the book for me is Knife. I never thought I would love him that much but he is so hard to resist. His POV is the fun factor in this book and I crave reading his inner thought that never failed to make me laugh.

Beast had been crushing hard on Knife for the longest time, but he dare not come out as gay and freak everyone out. Knife is a total manwhore. After an incident on a hotel bed together, Knife freaked out and avoided Beast for months, weeks? Knife is a total asshole for ignoring his best friend, but it was too much fun to see him obsessing over Beast despite being in denial of his feelings. The worry and jealousy is just priceless.

There isn't much emphasize on the MC business beside the unresolved stripper getting beaten up issue. But we did get to witness Knife being a total hardcore when it comes to dolling out punishment. I'm bloodthirsty like that.

As a MC series, the plot and story arc is weak, but romance wise, I'm in love. I realize I can read about Knife and Beast for another book or two because this book is simply too short to satisfy my thirst for them both. When Knife finally decided to take the plunge to explore things with Beast, he was all in and it was delicious to see his alpha caveman style stacking claim on his man. I want more!

So, after reading Wreck Me Forever I was still in the mood for a MC book and have had this tbr for a while. I enjoyed it for the most part, not as much as Wreck Me Forever but it still kept my interest. I do think I missed out some on not having read the rest of the series but since it is mf, I probably won't unless I start reading it again.

I liked both Knife and Beast and loved when Knife finally got his head out of his ass and they got together. I was kind of bummed it went into the surprise baby category just so they could become a family but whatever. It was still an enjoyable read. Again, though, I don't think this is a down and dirty MC book so don't go into it expecting that. There was very little club business though I wish the beaten strippers storyline was at least wrapped up. This is why I hate reading MM books in the middle of a MF series. Please make them standalones!

1,25 stars for being so eye-rollingly stupid it was hilarious.

I can't quite believe I actually finished reading this. Based on the synopsis, I was hoping for a hot story between two rugged men, sprinkled with a few table spoons of good ole angst. What I actually got was one part (unintentional) hilarity, one part aggravation, zero parts hotness.

First of all, the writing was bad. Like, completely. Nothing about this was believable, not the characters, not the setting, not the dialogue - nothing. And I don't mean it wasn't realistic, because shit like werewolf romance can be believable if written well, even if it has no ties in reality. This was just so disappointing all around. Corny, cheesy, baaad.

The writing was also repetitive as hell - I'm pretty sure Knife and Beast are gonna have some serious issues with their necks, what with all the throwing their heads back and laughing. Also, the swearing. I swear quite a bit myself when I'm pissed, but when you use the words fuck and fucking as punctuation marks (or you know, just inside the words themselves too, completely illogically, cause why not) they just sound stupid and lose all effect. There are also so many other curse words that would spice up the language a lot better.

The characters were caricatures of "tough guys" taken straight out of the imagination of someone who's never dealt with people who brag about shit like slitting peoples' throats (here's looking at you, Knife). The world was so full of hypocrisy - the men worshiped their 'women' or 'old ladies' (which, by the way, are some really vomit inducing ways of referring to your partner) yet at the same time they did nothing but slut shame the rest of the women in the background.

The only scene where I forgot to roll my eyes and actually laughed at intentional humor was the scene where Mena went as moral support with Knife to get manscaped. Other than that, the whole book was a heaping pile of clishes. The end.

I read this a week and a half ago and I can’t remember the plot. I do remember the OTT characters and dialogue. Alpha males all the way.

I did, however, enjoy the narration.

MM Romance
MC Bikers

DNF @ Chapter 23 of 31

🎵Included for free with my Audible subscription
🎵Narrated by: Stephen Dexter & Claire Alain

I had picked this up because I wanted to hear more of Stephen Dexter & this was free in the plus catalog but this book is god awful and the narration is abysmal. It doesn’t even sound like the same guy? And then the other narrator is a woman that was only at the very start so I have no idea why she is there at all.

So these two biker guys have some kind of random half asleep hump fest at a hotel months ago that destroys their friendship. Knife can’t figure out why he can’t stop thinking about it because he’s all about the pussy. (His words) But of course now he can’t get hard for women anymore. 🙄 His inner dialogue is all about how much he likes pussy and is not gay and a lot of homophobic bullshit and he was incredibly unlikeable until he learns he has a daughter and is given full custody. Then he became a completely different person because of how sweet he was with his daughter. Beast loses his hearing while they aren’t talking and once Knife finds out, he makes sure to learn sign language and moves in with his estranged buddy. I’ve been listening to this on and off since the beginning of November so I can’t remember exactly how or why they started living together but they are raising the baby together as friends and mc brothers.

A lot of drama happens that has to do with the baby that frankly made no sense while Knife decides he needs to stop being a pussy (again, his words) and get his man. Beast has been madly in love with Knife for years so of course he’s eager once Knife gets his shit together. BUT with the exception of the prologue with their weird hotel hump session, there’s been no smut in this at all and this storyline is not strong or interesting enough to be lacking in that department. It’s also pretty cringy because we have Knife deepthroating a banana in the kitchen to see if he’d like having a cock in his mouth and whenever he sees anything phallic like a carrot or other vegetable, his inner dialogue is all about how it would feel to have a cock inside him. 💀

When I went to look at reviews after I DNF’d this I realized I had commented on my friend’s review ages ago and my comment was in reference to her being grossed out by their “sword fight” just after saying “I love you” for the first time. How I wish I would have looked at reviews before attempting to listen to this trash. This is now the second book I’ve read this year that has had sword fighting and even if I didn’t get to that part, thankfully, knowing it exists is bad enough. 💀 Two times in one year is two times too many. Yuck.

Omg. I have so many issues with this, I can't even.

First off, I'm Australian. I can't stand books about Australia that use stereotypical Aussie slang and colloquialisms that don't ring true. But here? There's just none. This book is so obviously geared toward an American market it's lost any type of character relating it to the country where it's set. To say that's disappointing is an understatement. Especially when authors like N R Walker do it so well. It just makes me wonder why the author bothered. Apart from mentioning Sydney and Ballarat this book could have been set anywhere.

The plot is all over the place. It's like Days of our lives, Dynasty and a really bad episode of Home and Away (fellow Aussies will get that reference) all rolled into one. Need something exciting to happen? Alright, let's bring in a baby. It looks like one of the bikers and she comes with a letter so that's all you need, right? No tests. No lawyers. Nothing. Presto. You have a kid. Instant character building.
Have a deaf MC? That's ok. It'll only take a few lessons for the ENTIRE MC to be able to learn fluent sign language. That solves any problems with having to worry about communication or actually writing about the struggles of a deaf man. Easy.
Need some humour? Let's get out the stereotypes again with some casual racism towards an aging Chinese woman who "forgets" she no longer works at a "massage" parlour. Hilarious.

There were some parts I liked. I did finish it after all. The "mine" moments between the men are something that I love in MC romances. When they finally get their shit together and are figuring it out was sweet and true to their characters. But they were few and far between.

This book frustrated the hell out of me. And I had to wait till 92% for them to, you know. I wanted a gritty MC romance but there was just too many holes and coincidences for this to be rated higher. This is my first book by this author, and my last unfortunately. But I would assume that if you've read and liked her stuff before that this book would be a different experience for you.

As I always say, to each their own.

This was a hoot and a half. Thank you Fatimama,

A hearts, unicorns and rainbow love story about two alpha, really scary, tatted up MC gang guys who fall for each other. Correction: The now deaf as well as mute Beast has secretly luh-hoved Knife (Beast/Knife, told you alpha) for years to the point he has sacrificed himself and had sex with women just to be Knife’s wingman. All Beast really wants is Knife, a kid or two, a white picket fence, and a soundproof shed out back in case he needs to torture and murder someone.

Things got awkward when things got awkward one night between them and now Knife doesn’t know if he’s hetero-, homo-, bi-, or just confused.

Things come to a head, unfortunate turn of phrase, when Knife’s heretofore unknown six month daughter gets thrown in the mix, and they go live with Beast. There’s a whole side plot there I’m going to skip over as it’s convoluted and merely serves as filler as now it’s Knife’s turn to convince Beast he’s on board. Hmm, another unfortunate phrase.

Laughed my head off at the scene where big bad ole Knife has to get hugs from a biker babe because he’s getting manscaped aka waxed. Welcome to our world, brother.

For a while I thought these were the wussiest biker bad boys ever until they used Beast’s shed.

Lots of chin lifting which I thought was just a KA thing.

I have mixed feelings about this story... I liked it and it frustrated me at the same time. Some behaviors had red lights flashing in my eyes and some opinions had me rolling my eyes, but I still read every last word of it. The possessiveness of these guys was pointing towards an unhealthy and suffocating relationship, but at the same time I wanted to see what they'd do to stake a claim. Talk about can't make up my mind!

I enjoyed the story, overall, but I won't be recommending it to others because of the mixed feelings mentioned above which won't let me strongly support an argument in favor or against the story.

One of the MCs looses his hearing at the beginning of the book and we follow him along in his journey to adjust to the changes in his life and to finding new ways to communicate with those around him. I think the pace with which everyone got the grasp on sign language was way too fast, but I had to put that aside and chalk it up to timeline limits.

In the end, I'm glad a read this book as it was interesting and engaging, even if it had too much going on at times.

I really enjoyed this story. I haven't read any others in this series and even though there are a lot of characters who obviously have had their stories told previously, I was still able to follow this fine. It worked perfectly as a standalone. I loved Beast so much. What he went through was heartbreaking, and I love how much this story showed how tough that was, but at the same time that it wasn't the end of the world. That if you are strong enough, you can overcome anything. Knife took a little longer to warm up to, but his bravery and love shown bright by the end. This was funny, sweet, hot and incredibly honest. I would absolutely recommend to any MC romance fans who enjoy m/m.

DNF at 20% The writing just wasn’t for me. The dialogue felt super cheesy. Plus it felt like the book started partway through the plot and I was missing something. Which is obviously because this is a series but it’s labeled as a standalone and I don’t read MF so I couldn’t go back.
I was going to push through and finish because I actually paid money for this book… but then the baby showed up and I was out.
No baby was mentioned in the blurb.
I don’t alway mind a baby, but it felt like way too many side-plots shoved in here. We already had Beast coming to terms with his hearing loss and Knife’s abandonment, they needed to reconcile their lost friendship and Knife needed to come to terms with his sexuality, and now the baby (and baby-mama) drama? It was just too much.

OMG I had tears rolling down my face more than once from laughing so hard while reading Hear Me Out. Two words. Hot wax. That right there even now I am being to laugh all over again just thinking about it. Okay so anyways. Hear Me Out is a sexy m/m romance about two tough ass bikers that you just can’t help but love.

Beast aka Maddox just lost his hearing and is trying to be able to move forward and not let this bring him down. Add to that that his best friend Knife aka Jay, and him haven’t spoken in months after something happens between them. My heart was breaking for Beast because you could tell the pain he was in and not only from the loss of his hearing. Knife was freaking out about what had happened between him and Beast but at the same time he couldn’t stop thinking about it and not necessarily in a bad way either. When something forces Beast and Knife to live together you hope that these two will be able to work through all the tension and chemistry between them.

I absolutely LOVED Hear Me Out. I am behind in this series but was able to read this as a standalone but I do plan to go back and read the ones I haven’t yet. It had been a while since I had read a book by Lila Rose but that will be corrected immediately because Hear Me Out reminded me why I love her writing in the first place. This is a must read for any m/m romance fan I think you will not only love it but laugh at certain things just as much as I did.

Omg this book is fantastic and so funny and I laughed so hard in many scenes! This is an M/M book and both Hs belong to an MC. So it may not be for everyone but for those who just want a nice romance regardless of gender, this book has it in spades!

Beast has been secretly in love with his best friend Knife for over a decade. Knife has always been with women and never thought about being gay. One night, some touching happened which freaked Knife out and he avoided Beast for 2 months. During that time, Beast became deaf due to an accident.

Knife was so confused coz he actually can’t stop thinking about Beast and being with him sexually. In one scene, he was eating a banana and started looking at it differently. In another, he was checking out a carrot coz he was thinking how would he become a ‘bottom’.

There are many many funny scenes. Knife was so jealous of the other men who constantly asked Beast out. Aside from that, Knife’s realization that he loves Beast and it’s not about gender was just awesome.

Once Knife accepted that he is love, he went all out and he wasn’t ashamed or scared to tell anyone that Beast is his man. I just really loved how matter-of-fact he was to tell Beast that they are together for real and Beast was so shocked coz he never ever expected Knife to love him back.

Give this book a try :) this is so romantic and funny! :)

Friends to Lovers with a twist

I was very excited when I came across this book in group rec. A deaf man and hearing man fall in love who are part of MC. Color me intrigued, gotta read.

What I loved:
- author took care with handling hearing vs not. Her research shows.
- loved the character Maddox. How he just wanted to be loved and accepted.
- well paced writing that kept me engaged

Things to consider:
- this takes place in MC world so two graphic scenes. If violence is a trigger, be forewarned

I will say the character Knife turn around to a softee seemed...ah...too much for me? I don't know, still on the fence. Also, I did the unthinkable; I entered the series midway. I know these are interconnected standalones, but I would have enjoyed it more if I saw the world build. *thats on me not the author.

Definitely found a new to me author to read.
Recommendation: Read it

Enjoyed this read. While it's part of a series, it's the first book I've read from this author and it was easy enough to read as a standalone. There was a lot to like about this storyline- particularly the loyalty of the brotherhood. Maddox & Jay ( Beast & Knife ) were tied at the hip until one moment left Jay fleeing Maddox wondering what the he'll happened. Jay needed time to reconcile with new emotions and laid low. Meanwhile poor Maddox learned he's become permanently deaf and not only has he lost his best friend but he's life has spiraled out of control. This is their story ... must say I found some humor in many moments and I loved Jay for his courage in taking what was his !

I love a good MM reads and when you put HOT ALPHA BIKERS in the mix lets just say WOW Lila Rose has such a beautiful talent of writing any type of love story , Hear me out has got to be my favorite by her and I can't wait to read more in the series and any other story . This just makes me want to be dry humped by a sexy biker so jelly of these guys the chemistry between them is smoking hot with steam just coming out of my kindle . Poor Beast the first page really broke my heart because of his helplessness was so happy that he had the support and love of his brothers and their old ladies . Knife is adorable he has his awesome moments but he made me silly grin a lot so be prepared for lots of laughs in his point of view . It's great to see into both of their heads and knowing what thoughts they have going and what they really want . Beast and Knife are perfect with their protectiveness , love , naughty talk , and what they do for one another in and out of the bedroom .

I loved this book!

Maddox was struggling with losing his hearing, losing his best friend Jay and being gay all at the same time! And the worst of it all? He lost Jay because he couldn't keep his feelings in check, why did he have to sleep with jay when jay is as straight as they come? and why did it has to hurt so much when Jay literally ran from him after?

Maddox is a sweet, big alpha, muscle man who wants it all. A man, a family someone to love him. When Maddox goes deaf he thinks it is the end of the world. But the Hawks all step up and is there for him. It is amazing to read about how all these badass men rise up and are there for there friend, there brother. They all end up learning sign langued for him and they fight with him to make his life easier again.

But the most amazing one of them all is Jay. He finds out Maddox is deaf and even though they are not talking he get this need to learn sign langued so how else to learn it if not for youtube?
Jay is a stubborn, proud, alpha man who has a lot of trouble coming to terms with he may want his best friend.

Through in a baby, attempted kidnapping, some fucked up parents, some funny intimate waxing and you have the perfect book.

Eh, just okay.

It was pretty hard to get to like Knife. I had to really work at it. But mostly I was distracted through the whole book by the unrealistic deaf/sign language/lip reading issues. Sign language is a new language. It has all new linguistic rules, it's not something you can master, even if you are suddenly deaf in your 40's in a matter of weeks, let alone read lips so well. For everyone around him to just pick it up and never have trouble communicating sugar coats the trauma that losing your hearing would cause for everyone, especially Beast.

Additionally, this is the second m/m book I've read from her and the awful, awful, inhumane parents plot is over done and one dimensional.

5 BADARSE BIKER STARS!

Holy Swoooooonn! I just read the most AMAZING MC romance that’s chock full of passion, thrills, and angst galore! And the kicker? It was a smoking hot M/M!

HEAR ME OUT was so SHOCKINGLY GOOD, I want to shout with glee!!!! The extraordinarily gifted Lila Rose is a new-to-me author but I can see why her Hawks MC series is a fan fave. This book is so sweet and poignant and funny and gritty and raw...and you can FEEL the love between the heroes as it flows off the pages and seeps into your heart!!!! It is just so darn entertaining and she TOTALLY nails the badass biker vibe too!

Even though I am relatively new to the M/M genre, there was something about this mouthwatering cover—and powerful blurb—that called to me. In particular, I thought it was very provocative to have an M/M romance set in the MC world, and this book more than surpassed my EVERY expectation!!

In a nutshell, this is a sweet and sexy friends to lovers story featuring best MC buds Jay "Knife" Conger and Maddox "Beast" Lawson who had a falling out after a shockingly torrid—and totally unexpected— interlude in a Sydney hotel room. Beast had been secretly in love with Knife for the past decade and a half but… gasp!...Knife was straight and loved p**sy! So to say Knife was freaked out after their lusty encounter was an understatement. He ran off in the dead of the night and froze Beast out completely, shattering both their hearts in the process.

Now a few months have passed with nary a word from Knife, who avoided Beast like the plague, but when a life altering trauma implodes Beast's entire world, Knife knows he can no longer stay away from his friend in times of trouble. And Knife has a heck of a time controlling his red hot jealousy when he sees other “arseholes” vying for the affection of the man who has consumed his every thought—and starred in his filthy x-rated fantasies—ever since their one night together. But even if they wipe the slate clean, can these two men truly go back to being “just friends?”

Wowweeee!!! HEAR ME OUT possessed me, electrified my heart, gave me warm gooey feels, and was sizzling hot to boot!! Combustible chemistry between the main couple is a MUST of course, but I always need more than steamy sex to keep me satisfied, and thankfully this book is emotionally driven TO THE HILT!

I LIVED and BREATHED this book, and thought it had a perfect blend of sweetness, swoon, hotness, humor, and angsty feels throughout! This novel not only a TOUCHED my heart and TICKLED my funny bone, it was also infused with a nice dose of riveting MC drama to keep the ADRENALINE flowing.

Omgggggg! Beast and Knife were pure MAGIC together, and their slow-burning relationship played out in a Refreshingly. Unique. Way! I delighted in the delicious push-pull between these two impossibly hard-headed macho men, which was both lol funny and profoundly moving, and my heart burst at the seams with affection for them even when they put each other—and us!—through the wringer while trying to define what they truly meant to each other. And the sex (when it FINALLY happens) is filthy hot!!!!!!

I loved both these heroes madly…yet Beast totally OWNED me! I hurt SO BAD for him and rooted for him every second of the way!! Emotionally scarred from a crippling speech impediment and then forced to deal with a traumatic hearing loss, he lived his life shrouded in silence. But he was no victim, and oh how I rejoiced when, through the Hawks MC , he finally found the family he’d never had growing up. They offered him acceptance, belonging and unconditional loyalty— "You’ll always be a part of Hawks, and there will always be a place for you." —and in return he’d lay down his life for the club.

Speaking of the Hawks, one of the main draws about MC romance for me is the fierce bond between the brotherhood, and Lila Rose knocked it out of the park on that front! The club members truly had each other’s backs, no matter WHAT sh*t went down, and it warmed my heart how they were there for Beast and Knife through thick and thin. And for the record...I had a MAJOR girl crush on Dive’s Old Lady Mena, who served as the club den mother and was an amazing pillar of strength for all the bikers!

As for Knife, even though he was a self professed dick at times, he had a real tough upbringing too and possessed such a huge marshmallow heart I wanted to hug him hard!. I thought Ms. Rose did an exemplary job of showcasing the inner struggle of this uber Alpha straight man who falls inexplicably in love with his gay best friend. Knife’s ways of coping with his confusing feelings—as well as a life altering little bombshell of his own—was achingly sweet, poignant and infectiously charming!

Ultimately, HEAR ME OUT is an extraordinarily crafted story about love, acceptance, the bonds of brotherhood, triumphing over adversity…and finding happiness where you least expect it. I laughed, cried and swooned throughout, and this is an absolute MUST READ for M/M fans who crave their heroes big and broody and 100 percent badass!

Thoroughly enjoyed the next addition in the Hawks MC: Caroline Springs Chapter. Lila once again spun a beautiful, heart warming tale of two guys coming together against the odds and just making it work.

The chemistry between the main characters was hot and intense and the banter between everyone had me chuckling in a way that only Lila can do.

Can anyone say Hot Wax??

Lila Rose you are a star!! This book was amazing, it was rough, gruff, dirty and absolutely hilarious. I just love Beast, have since you introduced him in Dodger's story and he has just grown on me since. Finding out about his troubled childhood and why he does not speak, my heart just went out to him, I just wanted to give him a big hug and kiss and tell him i loved him because that is what he is clearly lacking in his life. You then think it is not possible for one person to suffer anymore, then he loses his hearing and I was ready to cry.

Knife was a total and complete ass. Beast and Knife, best friends for 20 years, and all because of one incident he stops speaking to him. I was so glad the other brothers gave him a bit if a hard time when he was trying to get info on Beast instead of going to see him, he needed a real kick up the ass.

Watching Beast struggle to come to terms with being deaf was heart-warming and I was so happy that he had Mena to help him through this transition. He was feeling useless and thought he would be cast out by the only family he ever had. Add on to that his depression over losing his best friend, the man he has always been in love with, Beast is tearing himself apart. However, Hawks never leave a brother behind.

Knife's struggle with coming to terms with the fact that he is attracted to Beast was freaking hilarious. Some of the things he says had nearly peeing my pants, and lets not forget the beauty parlour scene. You cannot feel sorry for him after the way he treated Beast, but the way he acts completely jealous, and then tries to take himself out of it is brilliant. The funniest moments definitely come from Knife.

There are some jaw-dropping moments wrapped up in this fantastic read. You need to read this installment of Hawks MC. MUST READ for Summer 2017.

To Wishy-Washy

While I really liked the cover of Hear Me Out, the story was lacking something for me to totally get into it. Separately, I liked Beast and Knife's characters, however together they didn't have a whole lot of chemistry.

It was a shock for a big, strong man like Beast to be weakened by his total hearing loss. He was use to not speaking, but not hearing anything was a totally different ballgame. His friend Mena stepped right up to help the big guy out with sign language, as well as the other brothers in the club.

Once he's more settled with the hearing loss, Beast tries to explore his feelings for Knife. While it didn't seem like a secret Beast was gay, Knife was a different story. I couldn't tell if he wasn't accepting that he was, or knew he was but overcompensating because he was with women still. He had a sexual moment with Beast in the past, however let quite a bit of time go by before acknowledging it or even reciprocating. I was as confused as Knife most of the time.

While I enjoy some heavy angst in my reads, this wasn't it, but just plain wishy washy. Knife not knowing what he wants and letting Beast keep guessing got old. At one point, I wanted Beast to forget about Knife and move on with his other options.

The book is well written and the fifth in a series. It's the only one I've read and again, felt lost when it came to backgrounds and supporting characters. The Hawks MC boys seem interesting, however I won't continue until I've had a chance to start from the beginning.

I now see why people highly recommend reading this MC series of Lila Rose's. This is book five but you can read it as a standalone, it is my first read of this series and of her books. It was also my first M/M book which took me down a different viewpoint, which I surprisingly found myself enjoying.

I was enthralled by this intricate storyline, that encompasses something that I have to deal with on a daily basis and that's dealing with deafness. No I'm not totally deaf but I felt every struggle that the main hero (Beast) had to overcome; especially when he found out he had lost his hearing. My heart just broke for him because he was constantly thrown curve balls one after the other which tested his strength and will to be a survivor.

The storyline has amazing layers to it that keeps you hooked from the start. The characters Beast and Knife have an angsty chemistry, which they deny at every turn but this just makes you fall in love with them even more because they are just adorable goofy guys. The bonus though is the off the charts, hot sex between these two..... fanning myself.

If you love the fight in relationships and overcoming real life issues then this book is for you.

Hey hot cover!

I will admit, I wanted this book, based soley on the cover lol yep, I’m one of those people. I’ll also need to say, I hadn’t read any of the other books in this series; and while I was curious to know the who’s-who of everyone…. It didn’t take me out of the story at all.

First, we have Beast, a.k.a Maddox, who as I understand in a previous book had a motorcycle accident that a couple months later, has him losing his hearing. He also wasn’t much of a talker, having a speech impediment as I understand, but freaked out and panicking, he goes to get himself checked out, along with a brother’s wife, Mena. Mena, was so incredibly sweet and supportive, I’m really thinking about going back and checking out the rest of the crews stories.

After finding out he’s deaf with no chance of his hearing coming back, he takes it about as hard as anyone would I’d think. Drinking himself into a stupor and doing it alone since the guy he’s been in love with for ages and fellow brother has been avoiding him. A hot night together had ruined things between them because the other guy is straight. That other guy is, Knife, a.k.a. Jay.

Now, Jay, I can understand his hesitation and needing to get himself together a bit after such an experience. Being confused and all that, but, I kind of wanted to punch him after a little bit too, because I knew how badly he was hurting Beast, especially because Beast really needed him.

We see the crew rally and stand behind Beast, letting him know that whatever he’s going through, he doesn’t have to do it alone. I loved that, I love the brotherhood of these MC’s, everyone had everyone’s back in this and again…. I just love it. Beast gets his head out and starts facing reality, taking ASL classes and learning to live with his impairment. He even tries dating, which makes Knife reeeeally mad, but still not ready to own up to the feelings he’s having for Beast. He’s still confused and working things at.

It isn’t until another bombshell is dropped on Knife, in the form of a little girl….his little girl that things start getting better between the two guys, since Knife needs to get out of the compound and have a place to live with his daughter, he shacks up with Beast. It’s rough for a while, both of them learning how to live with their feelings while not being on the same page. But, eventually, it all clicks into place for Knife.

I loved that, I loved it because not only was it hot, the two of them together, but, Beast deserved it. He loved Knife, and had for so long, I was so happy to see things work out for him. There were some ups and downs; club business and family issues and dating and jealousy…. But it all got worked out in the end, because at the end of the day, they’d faced it together.

And, if you don’t read this book for anything else… there is the most hilarious waxing scene with Knife and Mena, that had me cracking up. So random, but so, so funny.

For someone who’s never read this author or any other book in this series, I’ll say I really enjoyed this one. 4 stars from me.
