Love. Magic. Fate. Best-selling romance novel author Karmina Joan writes about these things. She believes that every person has a purpose, that every soul has a destiny to fulfill. She thought hers was simply sharing her stories.

Her story unfolds with Cupid, the Angel of Love himself. He brings with him a mysterious vessel and a message from on high. It turns out Karmina has a bigger purpose after all—a mission that will make or break humanity as we know it.

As Cupid teaches her the tricks of his trade, Karmina unknowingly gives him something unexpected in return— something the angel of love will find oddly familiar. This may become the one flaw in an otherwise perfect plan that destiny had in store for them.

Does love truly conquer all or are there limits to what humanity can do in the name of love? Witness as Karmina struggles to find the answers before time runs out on true love.

> I can now honestly say that the book version was way better than the wattpad version. Binasa ko silang dalawa in a span of 2 days (if hindi ako nagkakamali) para ma-compare ko sila ng maayos.
> Nasabi ko na better yung book version kesa sa original version kasi siguro yung wattpad version was written a few years ago and the book version was edited and proofread.
> Mas malalim yung story sa book. Mas naging malalim din si Mina tsaka si Cupid.
> Sobrang magkaiba yung story na 'to kesa dun sa Wattpad Version. Ibang iba. AND this one is shorter.
> Since shorter ito, hindi siya gaanong complicated unlike dun sa wattpad version. This one's precise. Stick sa storyline ni Cupid and Mina and Mina's mission.

Overall, maganda siya. I liked this one better. Mas marerecommend ko 'to kesa dun sa Wattpad version. I also learned that both versions are now posted on Wattpad with the sequel (on hiatus).

I can guarantee you, the tale in the pages of this book is as beautiful (or even more than) as its cover.

Karmic Hearts is Jhing Bautista’s best story, to date. I read Karmic Hearts back when it was just a Wattpad story. I was already a reader of Jhing prior to this and how can I not be intrigued with KH? The plot itself just screams “READ ME!” and so I did. I was so excited to see how she’ll venture into fantasy because she’s trying out something new this time around. Her past stories leans more solely in to the romance genre. I’ve read most of her Wattpad stories and so I can say that I was able to witness her growth as an author. Especially with Karmic Hearts. I saw how she took the challenge with KH, explore deeper into fantasy and create a masterpiece of her own.

With that being said, yes I read it in its original form and I noticed some differences but I won’t dwell on that. In this review I would like to just focus on the strengths of the published version. I think I fell in love with it even more.

I’ll start with Karmic Hearts’ book cover. With other Wattpad stories turned pocketbooks, I can pass up in buying the physical copies of it. But it’s not the similar case with this one. I already love the story in itself but when they revealed the cover, I knew then that it is a must to buy one. I would never get tired of saying that Karmic Hearts has got to be the PopFiction (PF) book with the most gorgeous cover. How would you top that one, PF? A big bonus of being able to capture one of the powerful scenes between Cupid and Mina too. Gorgeous cover and when I popped open the book I was welcomed with two enchanting illustrations. Because of those illustrations, I found myself crushing on Cupid really hard. Why does he have to be that handsome and fashionista?

I’m also glad that when PF decided to publish it, they took some time to have it translated in English because I do believe that it is worthy to read by a wider range readers. Actually, I hope PF will do that with their future releases so that these authors can have more readers and exposure.

I know some people are not fond of Wattpad and are wary of the contents on that portal. You definitely have the right to feel that. In my years of being registered on that application, there are times wherein I’m faced with a hard time looking for stories that genuinely captured my attention from plot to its delivery. But I swear, Karmic Hearts, is one of those Wattpad stories that deserves to be acknowledged and published.

Karmic Hearts is a well-done fantasy infused with philosophical thoughts and true to life scenarios. Love may play a big part but this isn’t just like the typical cliché stories. KH digs deeper into love and relationships. Bautista’s take on Cupid, angels, strings of fate and other elements were refreshing and engaging. Once she started laying out her fantasy world, it couldn’t be helped not to fly through the pages of the book. I found myself immediately invested towards Mina’s mission, Cupid’s existence, the world and their relationship.

Philosophy worked its way into the story. There are a lot of lines that hold a solid punch. and are definitely quotable quotes. Even my grandfather who saw my book and borrowed it for a bit liked a certain line at first read. He even asked for the book again just to read that particular line. It’s this one:

“God blessed humans with free will. It means that you, humans, have the power within you to live your lives the way you want to. But ultimately the power has limits. Do you know how powerful freedom is? Every action has a consequence. It’s a ripple effect, so you really can’t blame God for everything.”

I won’t talk much about the story in specifics. Eventhough, I love to blab about the cool parts because there were lots of it in there. But I really want to keep this review as story spoiler-free as much as possible because I want you to have the same experience with me.

Mina’s reactions towards all these were authentic. I can see myself in her position and reacting the same way as she did. She’s bursting at the seams with questions and I love her hunger for clarity. I thoroughly enjoyed the arguments and discussions that Mina and Cupid had. It mostly revolved around legit concerns and thoughts that we have. I love everything about the mission. It entails a grave responsibility but going through it in Mina’s eyes (and learning new stuff along the way) made it a cool reading experience. In a sense, it’s magical.

“All I ask from you is that you don’t forget me.”

Cupid, I just love him. He’s a guy (I mean, Angel) with the perfect sense of humor, playful at times but knows how to take his responsibilities (he learned about this through the hard way, huh) seriously and swoon-worthy. Though, I ache for the things that happened to him the past. I want to give him a big (big big) hug. All he did was to love someone…

There were quite a number of side characters (angels and humans) and I’m happy that they were not just used to help move the plot along. We were given time to get to know them and for their characters to be fleshed out in for a limited amount of time. They definitely added an additional flavor into the story.

There was a certain aspect in the story that was predictable to me. Probably for you, as well. But it made me all the more stick to reading it because I want to know how everything will unfold.

“You told me that it’s the journey that matters, not the end. Why are you so concerned about the ending?”

It made the tension between Mina and Cupid even thicker and I was just craving (and praying) for some miracle to happen and make things right for the two. With just a few pages left, I was worried on how this tale will end. But Bautista pulled out a twist and everything fell into place.

It’s a great ending.

But I wouldn’t mind for this to have published sequel or a side story from the same fantasy world. Remembering Cupid, the sequel, is actually an on-going story on Wattpad and picks up where the book ended. I’ll gladly wait for updates on that one.

Jhing Bautista nailed it. Karmic Hearts nailed it. No matter how long the time we spend with our loved ones, as long as we’re happy – it’s a time well spent and worth treasuring. Every single second should be lived to the fullest and treasured.

If you’re trying out PopFiction for the first time, I highly recommend to pick this one up! 🙂

First of all, thank you to Pop Fiction for hosting this blog tour for Karmic Hearts especially to the Content team! You guys are the best! Please do check the other blogger’s review that I’ll be linking below.

Okay so let me tell you that I was once an OG Pop Fiction books reader and collector! I’m so happy that Pop Fiction has thought of this idea to publish books that truly satisfy our hearts and make us feel kilig through the books that they publish! And to the authors? I love you all for many such amazing stories that we all needed!

I feel complete. When I finished reading Karmic Hearts the only thing that I could say was, it’s the book I have been waiting for all of my life! It’s so beautifully written and every word made me fall in love with the story more. How do I move on from this? I need more! These kind of books is what I live for, it’s been a long time since I last read a book from the Pop Fiction collection and this book rekindled my love for them. Will definitely buy more!

Stories about destiny, fate and love. I’m all about that, call me hopeless romantic or whatever I still believe that all of us is destined to find our soulmates they may or may not be in this life time but I’m sure they’re somewhere out there.

Karmina’s character? Never a dull moment, I love her persona! She was willing to take risk’s just to see the people she loves(her “prospects”) have a happy ending even though at first her’s was a blur. Cupid’s character? Don’t get me started! AHHH just swoon! The moment when he first appear in the story, I was already dead because of his smile! I was glad that even the minor characters had there own spotlight in this book, it was nice to see the development from each minor character’s story. There where moments that really touched my heart. Love can be all kinds, love never dies even in the time of death. It flows through a person’s soul and never leaves.

I was just in awe, the plot of this book was everything! That twist at the end, got me! I don’t want to tell myself that it was over. I just can’t put this book down. I wish it never ended, I wish I can read books like this forever. I highly recommend this book to you guys! If you want to believe in love again READ THIS. If you’re new to the Pop Fiction-verse, this book is a great way to start your journey, so pack your bags and head out to the nearest bookstore near you!

Jhing Bautista has captured my heart with her story, thank you for making this wonderful piece of art! I absolutely enjoyed every moment of reading your work!

Interesting. Intriguing. It keeps me on reading the story as I feel the fluffy, light romance building in my chest! I mean, I never expected that I would like the story. I had a hard time reading the first few chapters but before I knew, I already at the last page of the book and I have the feeling of wanting it more? It is indeed a great story that I never expected that I would like. The writing style stays true to its form and it just keeps on getting more engaging by the time I keep on reading.

From the few chapters in the beginning to the middle chapters of the story, I could feel the love, the awareness, the acceptance of loving. Mina, the protagonist, falling in love is an understatement. It is so compelling because of Jhing Bautista, the author herself, wrote a good story and whenever I’m thinking my reading experience, I felt joy, happiness and hopeful. It feels like a little bit of everything in their balance state.

Karmic Hearts is a good read and it keeps me more absorbed than more pop fiction books that I’ve ever read before. The story makes me more curious. Here I thought, that the book is a usual love story with full of clichés, but it wasn’t. I was wrong all along. It is full of faith and courage, full of stories and lesson, and above all, it is full of longing and living through love even if it was painful. In addition, it made me more curious and read more. How could she end a book like that? I would never satisfied with this! I want more and I would definitely keep on wanting more.

It’s not about the ending. What’s more important is the journey, how they got to where they wanted to go.
I was a bit satisfied how things turn out even at some point, I got irritated with Mina. She’s the embodiment of dense, slow, and insensitive. I don’t exactly understand her at some point but I’ll just believe that’s one of the traits of women that guys wouldn’t understand. Ever. However, Cupid is the definition of sweet, humor, and of course, love itself. It was good to see people falling in love in the story but it was better to see two characters falling in love more without them realizing it. For that, I would like to thank Jhing Bautista because this is the perfect ending that I could think of for the book and I didn’t expect how Karmic Hearts would end. Very satisfying.

One more thing, I would like to commend the author for executing that ending well because I really didn’t see it coming. Anyway, you better read Karmic Hearts guys. I wasn’t a fan of light romance before this but it changes how I perceived love and it taught me some aspect of love that we incorporate in our life that everything has a purpose, that everyone leads to something, that love is in you – in us.

Promise me that no matter whom you meet and fall for, you’ll remember that I loved you first.

It's been a while since I had a great time reading a book. Lately I keep starting a book but I was too lazy to finish it (book slump is worse) but then I saw Karmic Hearts and it suddenly catch my attention and I was like "I want to read this book!" I got lucky to be part of this book tour and since it is my first time reading a PopFiction book, I don't know what should I expect. I was excited and nervous at the same time.

Karmic Hearts is the kind of book that I would love to re-read again. I really enjoyed reading it to the point where I had a hard time putting the book down so I needed to find a place where I can finish it without anyone bothering me. I end up in PaperMoon at SM Mall of Asia, I ordered coffee and I knew it was the perfect moment to finish that beautiful book. Anyways, back to my review, I enjoyed each characters so much. Cupid and Mina are a perfect match, their chemistry was impossible to ignore. I loved Cupid from the beginning he's charming and funny meanwhile Mina is the serious type but full of curiosity. Without them? I'm not sure how will my review end up. LOL. I loved the flow of the story, it was an easy read and it has a little flash backs from their past lives. The book was a bit predictable since Cupid mentioned about the love of his life, but aside from that,  I don't think people will guess what will really happen because it has a bit of twists and turns too. The ending was heartbreaking and happy ending. Well I thought at first it will be heartbreaking, but I'm glad for the twists.

I do have a question though, will there be a part two of the book? Or a Cupid side story at least? I am hoping there is one because this book deserves a series. Karmic Heart is beautiful, not just the cover but the content as well. It caused mixed emotions to me as a reader. (PS. I hugged the book after reading it I just loved it so much!).

Lastly, thank you to the publisher for giving me a chance to be part of this tour. It was a great honor.

Full review posted at Amaterasu Reads

Fair warning, this is the first Pop Fiction book I've read. I tried to keep my expectation at a minimum, but right after I've read the summary for Karmic Hearts I knew I just had to read the book.

I have a tendency to swoon over stories about Love, Fate and Destiny. So a story about a girl seeing red strings? Meeting Cupid? With a writer as the character lead? Count me in.

I must admit that I initially had a hard time reading the book. There were grammar and spelling nuances that distracted me from going further faster, and I had trouble connecting with Mina initially, but I powered through for the sake of the story and I am glad I did. There is something magical in the way the story unfolded, and I found myself flipping through the pages until I reached the end. And WHAT. AN. ENDING.

There's something about Jhing's writing that sustains your curiosity and makes you want to read up to the last page.

Staying true to the title and the plot, Karmic Hearts is a story about all forms of love and all the trials and tribulations that comes along with falling in love. It can be tricky to have a mix of the myths, red string, fate and destiny but Jhing Bautista makes you believe in it. If you don't, then this story will make you want to believe. What a heart warming story, and I am glad my first Pop Fiction book reading experience went really well.

Life is unfair. You should get used to it by now. I loved the book, the story. Knowing the characters and the plot, it may sound cheesy and impossible but isn't that the use of books? To bring us somewhere new, somewhere enchanting.

You may also say it's cliché, but aren't all love stories meant to be like that? I loved the story but most of all, I fell in love with the characters. It's so magical.

Cupid, I know you may be real or not but please give me a successful love life.

Favorite quotes:

"Who cares if I can't taste this chicken? At least I'm enjoying it. It's the same way with you, Mina. I can't touch you. I can't hold you, but it doesn't mean I can't be happy with you."
"I love deeply. And I don't know if it's because of my nature or it's because of you.
"Pink camellia. It means I'm longing for you. Always."
"Orange blossoms. They mean eternal love."

April 2019
Of course younger me didn't know that love always involves pain. If you don't want to get hurt, don't love. Hurting doesn't mean it's not successful.

This is one of my favorite stories from Wattpad. I like how the author described Cupid as someone who can have human-like feelings. I remember shedding tears for this one as I read the heartbreaking parts. I actually shared some quotes of this book on facebook that time. I also envied Mina for having Cupid by her side, loving her. It is a wholesome, must read and a really wonderful story that I will recommend for people to read.

FEELS. AAAAAAH REREAD COS THE BOOK VERSION IS DIFFERENT FROM THE WATTPAD VERSION.

It wasn't full on romance. You'd just feel cupid. Ariana Grande's Ghostin is a fit for this.

I just want to say I loooooove this so much. Mina and Cupid. Huhu

it was cute ☺️ i just realized now how wrong cupid was when he tied his gold string to her 😅 but nevertheless, i loved the ending and i feel like it was the most fit ending for them 🫰🏻 it was kind of sad when they part ways but i hoped for them to end up together, and i think they did 🥹 the fact that he was always looking for her in every lifetimes 😭 that is just love right there 🫶🏻

liked it but didn't absolutely loved. the tjing that irked me the most was the writing style. it was not showy enough so that I could evoke the feelings, specifically, at the end of the book.

if it had a more "magical" or more "vivid" writingg style, it would've been a favorite

Considering that most Wattpad books at this era is jeje or corny (gangsters, bad boy, nerds era), Reading this story is quite refreshing and perfectly done. I haven’t read the wattpad version yet but this published version is heart catching. Romance is not my genre especially in books because I find some of the words cheesy and almost unrealistic but this book gives me a message that I should read romantic books more.

I've read some of Ms. Jhing Bautista's book published under pop fiction. "The filthy rich bitch" and "Dama the princess bitch" the first two are okay but not as impressive as "Karmic Hearts".

I like how it was written. I love how she gave life to the idea of red strings and how she explain it solidly in the story. Usually, most of the novels with fantasy genre from wattpad have a lot of loopholes which left a lot of questions in my mind while reading them and it is disappointing when you don't get the answer even after reading the book but in Karmic Hearts most of it are answered .

To be honest I'm not that impressed especially with the ending I saw it coming I know what is going to happen next and i was actually disappointed how it turns out. When her cousin didn't marry whom she was suppose to marry I assumed that she ended up with her soulmate.

Overall it is a good book which is written in a professional way. Its good to read a book which is relaxing sometimes.
