Not worth the read. I skimmed most of the end. A Christian book about a mother’s death and her son meeting a woman who was a victimized an attack. Romeo the dog is a main character.

A very heartfelt, touching, tearjerker book! This is the first book I've read by this author. It was extremely interesting to read the man's point of view regarding his deep grief at losing his mother to cancer. Usually, you think men "just get over it" quickly but Jax deals with his grief through the whole book. It's especially hard for him because he also lost his father when he was young, and his 3 younger sisters think that he will just take care of everything after their mother's death too. It becomes too much for him! I think it brings home the thought that we all need to lean on someone at times, but Jax didn't have anyone. That is, until he meets Gwen, his neighbor, who has gone through a traumatic physical attack a year previously and is still living through the aftermath. They decide to help each other emotionally, and of course, grow closer. There is a strong faith element. Neither one is particularly close to God at this point. I loved that dogs played a big role in the story too! A very emotional story that I loved!

If you have ever lost someone important in your life and have asked the questions, then this book will give you some of the answers and solace. If you have lost yourself and been afraid and have asked why me? then this book will again give you the answers and the strength to move on. This is a gentle moving romance of a young 24 woman who is scarred and scared and a 3o year old ex-playboy who is beautiful, genuinely nice and learning to love for the first time.

Some of the details towards the end do not match up with things that happened at the beginning. Not a big fan!

Such a sweet book. I absolutely loved it. A light book read, even though it walks through a time when a man is dealing with the death of his mom. Was very moving in a good way.

Sweet story about Jax a police officer in a small town with 3 sisters whose mother dies of cancer and whose father died when he was 11. He struggles as his sisters always looked to him to fix everything and he’s overwhelmed. He finds support in the arms of Gwen a woman new it town and feeling the aftermath of a physical attack along with his Mother’s very loyal expressive dog. Can he overcome his doubts and fears? can Gwen learn to trust a man after trauma?
+ author describes trauma with compassion
+ also caring about her character’s struggle with trust as an act of Faith
+ love the canine characters

this is my first title by this author. I was open and didn't know what to expect. Sometimes it takes me a while to enjoy a new author or get into a new book, not so this time. I was hooked from the start. I cried, I smiled and loved the characters. They were real, flawed and relatable. I look forward to more of her books.

I don't know why people would rate this anything less than a three. It is a very good read. Brought tears to my eyes in the first chapter.

A story of faith, brutality, self-improvement and love. If they'd left out a lot of the religious mumbo-jumbo it would have been a lot better
