I love quick reads that I can relate to and get something out of! Each chapter was a reminder of how tough it is to be a teacher, and then Aaron Hogan gave suggestions as to how to not let it get to you. No, great teachers are NOT perfect. Yes, great teachers DO make mistakes... but what happens next is critical. The chapter that hit me in this one was "Value Vulnerability." It will be my focus for the next school year! He's also inspired my next blog post...

If you only read one PD Book this summer, make the THRIVE choice!

Teacher Myth is a book that administrators and teachers can make the most of. It demystefies what a great educator should
"Look" like, and proceeds to discuss with passion, heart, and vulnerability what truly making an impact in students and fellow teachers' live looks like. Aaron Hogan crafted each chapter to stretch educators beyond our comfort zone by facilitating reflection with not only guiding questions but invitations to put in writing thoughts, goals, names, and changes we wish to make to help ourselves, our students, and our fellow teachers grow holistically. If as an educator you are constantly challenging yourself to become a better version of yourself, or if you feel stuck in a rut, or alone, if you wish you had some safe space to explore where do you go from your present level of teaching or leading, if you are looking to influence others, to change the culture of your school, to improve relationships with all stakeholders, this book will fit your needs perfectly and help you on your journey.

Will take a slower reread as I mostly skimmed but during the year when things get tough that’s exactly what I’ll need. A reminder. High, high 4.

I have to say I would much rather read education books without an acronym. That's the missing one star, more or less. This was a good read. Many 'great' teachers are perceived as much because of they have developed a deep repertoire of content and instructional strategies. They have asked questions and know who to ask these questions. This book is a sound reminder to learn not only the science of teaching, but the art of it. This would make for a great mentor-mentee book study.

I really liked this book. It was interesting and I learned a lot from it. This book took you through step by step and taught you how to become a better teacher. There were a lot of stories and experiences that were examples and different ways to connect with students, which I really liked. I loved that it brought up again and again that teachers aren't perfect or should be perfect. I'm a bit of a perfectionist myself, so having someone out there telling me that it's ok if not everything works out all the time is reassuring. There were so many good lessons that can be taken into all parts of life, not just teaching. There were also so many good quotes that were impactful to me. I'm glad I got to read it and would recommend this to other people! All in all, it was a pretty short and fun read.
