Thrilling adventure for black ops Jason King, as the fight turns to those supposedly working with him
Awesome adventure as Jason King continues his fight as a black ops specialist. He has tried to retire before, only to be drawn back in to the business, but this time he goes through so much evil and killing that he feels he will truly be finished. If he can make it out of this opportunity alive, that is. Great to see Jason find someone he can be with forever, as soon as he finishes his current contract. The characters are all well described, they feel like friends, and in every scene I feel myself right there with them! This last op is very tough, and Jason's body takes a beating. Can he finish and find a life he wants? Turn the pages for an exciting ride...
First book in Jason King series, Isolated, has a good balance of story and action. After that, the author seems to be not interested in telling a good story but only hard hitting action. The author could have done so much in the Jason King series conclusion but he just chose to sacrifice story with mindless action sequences. Following last book, King, Isla and Slater are running away from Black Force and Russians. That's it. That's the story. Going to try Slater series now.
Matt Rogers gets better and better. And this Book 6 is not the "end" of the series of Jason KING, but rather the "beginning" of the series of Will SLATER. The author writes incredibly fast-paced action, and the reader really cares about the characters - Jason, Will, Ilsa, and Klara. This book is very hard to put down, so don't start it if you have to get to sleep for a real job in the morning. The combat action scenes are very believable. Jason King and Will Slater are NOT indestructible - but are definitely able to CHARLIE MIKE, that is "continue the mission" when they are starved, fatigued, injured, and in pain - falling back on their special operations training and experience. To the critics who feel that some of the action of the aircraft carrier is "improbable" - I would argue that if it isn't "impossible" then it is entirely within the realm of FICTION.
The final book in the series and this was a serious FUBAR type of situation. Jason has the USA and Russia after him for what he might know. Isla and Slater are to be eliminated on the pure basis that 1. Isla went down the wrong path and was just trying to save the only family she knew; and 2. Slater helped Jason get out of a predicament that was beyond either one of their control. That dickwad that had his stick shoved so far up his backside knew how Jason operated and Slater so why act like they committed the cardinal sin when they were the one that got them started in the first place. He got what he deserved so that is all I can say about that in the end. 10 years to be free and to settle down. May not see like a long time but it is. Just to have peace.
I enjoyed the whole series; however, if you write about US military, you need to study a little further. USAF does not have enlisted pilots and have not had same since the 1950s; USN does not have soldiers, they are sailors; US carriers travel as a Carrier Task Group and as such are surrounded by several Aegis destroyers and Aegis cruisers, as well as several nuclear submarines. Also, the carrier's typical aircraft compliment would not include Harrier aircraft and Harriers are not supersonic. The decks of aircraft carriers are called the flight deck, not tarmac. BMW M3s are not turbocharged. I very much like your action scenes and interpersonal relationships.
In this book 6 of the series, King, Slater, and Isla are held as prisoners on board a U.S. Navy super carrier. They have no idea what their future may be ... if they have one. The Russians want King silenced, never able to disclose what he uncovered while the ship is attacked by a private paramilitary force. The three of them escape to Dubai. Now their war is with the U.S. and the Russians. How can they bare up to those extreme forces? No other novel has the speed race of the quest to survive. You'll be on the edge reading unbelievable attempts to survive. Gosh, I need to slow down and breathe!
Great action and wind up of the, series. Mostly really enjoyed the book but even allowing for poetic licence there were some serious plot holes. see spoilers below.
Spoilers
A few major plot holes. Every aircraft carrier has escort ships so even with some technology to hide one helicopter the others and RHIBs would be spotted and destroyed by the escorts.
Nobody else tried to take the only working plane on the ship.
Flying a plane doesn't mean you can fly a Harrier.
A Harrier doesn't have the range to get from East Russia to Dubai especially with an extra passenger.
The last Jason King book and I'm sooo bummed. It was a great series. It was like The Gray Man series, The Jack Winchester series, The Jonathan Quinn series and the Orphan X series. Only, I think Jason was hurt more than all the others were, so he was a little more real, IMO.
In this one Abdullah and Ramsay both got what they had coming to them, as well as all the bad guys, but I didn't like that a main character was murdered.
A slight touch of romance and the F-bomb was used 52 times.
As to the narration: Roger Wayne finished off with his usual splendid reading.
Jason finds himself and his team plus the love of his life, all with a bullseye on them from not only his enemies, but also his bosses! The name of the game is "survival." Get and eliminate their enemies, but not doing any harm to friendlies, or else! Before Jason can call it quits from Black Force, he and his team face capture, torture, and death at every turn. Thanks for a great read.
What a Ride ! Matt Rogers writes Action that's non-Stop.
This is, regrettably, the last of the Jason King Series, but, there will be some great prequel books coming soon. If, like me, you enjoy Action-packed stories, the type the get you so involved, You'll go hungry, even run out of cigarettes, but not be able to stop reading, then, you will Love these Six Books of Jason King' s adventures, and mis-adventures. Unputdownable for sure !
I enjoyed the Jason king series but I did like the ending. I read books for pleasure and i like a happy ending. I was not happy or felt good when I finished this last book. There was no reason to have Isla killed. we live in the real world and that's sad enough the way the government is trying to destroy our country. In sorry but I will switch to a different author....blonski148@aol.com
The premise is horsesh*t. A US Navy veteran, the USN doesn't entirely rely on electronics. in shits across the entire ship there are people with big eyes (binoculars) and sound powered phones (not reliant on electronics at all looking for any anomaly. In hostile waters the watch would likely be more vigilant and perhaps doubled.
Since this was the entire premise of the story I found it barely entertaining, even suspending reality.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
..I really enjoyed this book in particular, as it was the last of the JAson King series. What remarkable character he is. So glad he found someone who means a lot to him. Sorry for him about Isla passing. Glad for Will who misses the fighting and knows he wants to continue. Looking forward to the 2 new series. Thanks, Amarillo Turtle
Another goodread! I have to say that the physical traumas inflicted on our hero - and his incredible ability to overcome them - really stretch your powers of belief, but, having said that, his heroic drive to accomplish the job makes for extra exciting tension in this, and all the other great ysrns. Definitely a most readable author!
A MR. Jason King Novel (\JKSB. - 6)/ US. Navy Carrier
MR. has. penned the sixth novel of the Jason King series, which contains, an attempt by Jason and Will Slater to rescue a team of Health workers being held in a Russian Mine. They escape. They are taken aboard a US. Carrier and jailed. The Russians send men after them. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
The repercussions of the Russian op have left King, Slater and Isla in a world of trouble and pain. Hunted by both sides, they turn to the wrong man for help. What follows is a brutal battle, that will one way or another bring King the peace he has been looking for. Good final book in the series, that is non stop action.
From the sea of Japan 100 miles from the Russian coast Jason King & Will Slater are being held prisoner on a American super carrier as it is attacked by russian mercenaries determined to kill them both, this action packed story blades through Stocholm to Dubai as they battle Oligarchs and dodgy arab businessmen whilst trying to dodge US special forces determined to kill them.
This is obviously the final episode in this series as there are tragic outcomes from all the horrific activity in Dubai. I have been to Dubai and Oman and had a wonderful experience compared to what is imagined in this novel. Also I have been to Thailand and I have doubts that the characters will be content to finish their days there.
Last of a series that expresses action thriller quite adequately even as it wound down. Too much false philosophy at the end for my tastes but meaningful to others as a true closure item. Will Slater might be the next interest if done as well.
Omg, omg, omg!! What an awesome ending to this series. I am so happy that he chose the ending he did, I don't think I would've coped with any other lol. I have already downloaded the first Jason files so can't wait to get stuck into that.
I have just finished the last book in this series in six days. Could not put them down. This series is a great one if you like these kind. I can't wait to read another book by Matt Rogers.👍👍👍👍
This series was so good I couldn't put the books down. When I wasn't at work or sleeping I was reading these fantastic books and loved Jason king's character. Loved it
I read the King and Slater series first. It at times had too much introspection and psycho babble to the point of irritation. I almost stopped reading the series. But the adventure and ass kicking kept me coming back. Looking forward to the next series.
Can't help myself, this is the type of fiction I enjoy when not reading science or history non fiction. Looking forward to more Matt Roger's adventure tales, thanks Matt!
This book was an excellent ending to the series. I can't say I'm happy to see it end. I loved this character and his adventures while still keeping himself human. I will miss Jason King.
