C.D. Reiss

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

There's one STANDALONE and the first book of three different stories from an author who never fails to grab my attention with her sexy stories, charismatic characters and her effortless, intelligent writing style.

Submission: The erotic steam factor is off the scale. It has the kinky, dark edge of a controlling, powerful dominant and a sexy submissive who's not afraid to speak her mind, be independent and enjoy the pleasure. Jonathan and Monica’s relationship evolves in a wonderful way, it’s addictive viewing... Yes, it's viewing because this author shows amazing pictures with her words. The protagonists sizzle on the page together, erotically lighting it up.

Spin: If you love a story with erotic romance, wonderful depth ridden characters and delicious sexy writing all wrapped up in suspense and intrigue in an underground mafia world, then you should delay no longer, experience the world of Antonio Spinelli

Kick: The story telling is picture perfect; it's raw, sometimes uncomfortable, but addictive reading. I believe we’ve only touched the surface in Kick and there’s still so much more to discover about Fiona, Deacon and Elliot. I've a feeling this series is going to take me to some dark places... I hope so!

Hardball: A MUST-READ STANDALONE for all ROMANCE lovers, it offers the perfect romantic escape with a SEXY, charismatic, baseball playing hero called Dash Wallace, an engaging story and a heroine who you'll want to be friends with.

(I have completed reading each of the separate series and LOVED all of them.)

This is a ME problem NOT the BOOK

Book 1 : Submission (Beg, Tease, Submit) 3.5 Stars
So the H Jonathan was nothing like I thought he would be, he was a fantastic hero. Also a bit broken from his previous wife/ex-wife. To be honest that one was a bit (how do you call it when you know whats gonna happen? lost the name for it.) like it happens all the time even in real life. I'll spoiler it

But to be honest this one didn't convince me to buy the other ones (especially after seeing that it was 6.50$ and 7.91€ . If it was my favorite author I would consider it.)

Book 2 : Spin 3 Stars
This one is about a mafia boss.. So to be brutally honest It's not a man I would piss my pants for.. Mafia bosses are a favorite of mine, but this one just didn't reach my expectations. Overall it was a good read but not so good that I would buy the rest of the series, so I'm not continuing..

Book 3 : Kick 4 Stars
So how effin weird was this little read? But this one picked my interest so I'm buying the other parts. They aren't so expensive as the other ones. I'm still not entirely sure about this series, but I just want to know what the hell happened and what's gonna happen further. Also she kind of cheated what is very bad in my book and opinion, I hate cheaters because they had another choice one tho hurt the other party less.
So that stopped me a bit too, but the need to know what happened is a bit bigger than the no no no.
So I'm continuing this series!

Book 4 : Hardball
So this one was a bit different but also did the same for me. I didn't like it so much, this is a probably me problem and not the book. But for me it didn't do what it must do. I saw the problems coming before they were there.

Book 5 : Submission
This was a preview of the newer series. I felt intrigued, but it fell flat at the end. I was thinking of buying the others but then I just decided to not do that. I know the end from the previous one that I bought...

This is a Me NOT the book's problem!!

The Alphas is a sampling of CD Reiss' hottest men. Commanding complex and definitely the type to leave a girl begging for more.
SUBMISSION is the beginning of something special - an exhilarating, sometimes dark, but always engaging journey. It's the story of Jonathan Drazen, a self proclaimed sadist still in love with his ex-wife, and Monica Faulkner, an ambitious musician who can't afford the distraction of a relationship. They don't meet "cute", thankfully, and their chemistry is palpable from the start. Monica thought it was sweet and doomed from the start, but as a reader I hope she's wrong because these two burn down the house when they get together. The sex is HOT and the banter hotter. I can't guarantee you'll be satisfied but you will be begging for more of Jonathan and Monica. CD Reiss created my first girl crush in the literary world. Monica Faulkner is so layered and conflicted. She's self aware, sometimes so much so it hurts. It's the dilemma she faces when it comes to love vs. career that touches my heart because it hits close to home. Monica Faulkner is not your Disney princess, virginal romantic heroine and I love her for it!!

And Jonathan. I could go on about him for hours. Suffice it to say he's not a Disney Prince. The dude has BAGGAGE. Sign me up to be his bellhop. All hail the Ginger King!
SPIN -Theresa Drazen's story is vivid, fast paced, and an absolute joy to read. Ms. Reiss gives us a compelling, complex heroine to love, and a stunningly beautiful, brutal man to seduce us all. Set against the backdrop of a contentious election and a brewing mob war in a gritty modern LA, trouble finds Theresa Drazen. Her orderly life is in shambles and her heart tattered, thanks to infidelity and a broken engagement. She's desperately trying to keep it together and maintain her cool, controlled facade. But mob capo Antonio "Spin" Spinelli crosses her path and all bets are off.

Like moths to a flame, they're drawn to one another, despite the road blocks thrown up by those around them and their own preconceived notions The sex is incendiary and there's nothing sweet and gentle about their courtship. As always, the writing is lyrical and emotional, and leaves you craving more. I want to crawl into this story and live in it. I couldn't shake Theresa and SpinI adore C.D Reiss’ voice – the style, her stories, her L.A, her tribe – so I will just say that it’s pitch perfect. She goes from gritty to ethereal and everywhere in between and her story and characters soar.

KICK Fiona Drazen is the focus of this melody. She's the Drazen black sheep/lost cause/ embarrassment. Or is she? Clearly, Fiona has a ton of trouble on her hands - after all, we first meet her in a locked down mental ward with amnesia, a raging sex addiction and an attempted murder charge hanging over her head. Just how did she end up there?

The new man in her life, her therapist, seems to be determined to find out. He, along with the reader, quickly learns there's more to Fiona than meets the eye. Beyond the shallow, spoiled celebutante is a woman who can love others but can't love herself. I love Fiona because despite being so broken there's a resiliency and refusal to be destroyed by circumstances. She is so well drawn with so many layers and shades of gray, you will be dying to retrace her steps on this road to seeming ruin.

And the men in her life. So compelling, fascinating and sexy. They're polar opposites, yet a matched set. Deacon. Her Dom/lover/victim. A dark and mysterious artist of Shibari with a shady past. Eliot. Her therapist, protector and key to her freedom. An angelic looking seminarian who walked away from his original calling and just might be attracted to his newest patient. The story of how these three lives intersect will grab you by the throat and have you begging for more. Not to mention the adventurous sex, gritty and poignant by turns.

HARDBALL At its essence, Hardball is the story of a good man – a kinky, sexy, dirty, poetry spouting one who is too smart for his own good, so much so he can’t see the forest for the trees (sometimes literally), and is burdened with an almost debilitating case of ADHD – and a soft but strong woman who helps him find a new way forward without sacrificing herself and the things she holds dear when his extremely orderly life slips towards chaos. Their courtship, and it is an epic courtship despite protestations to the contrary (and the dreaded EXPIRATION DATE), is full of fun, laughs, Shakespeare (!) and some down and dirty, highly imaginative sex – Dash’s bag of tricks is bottomless.

Dash and Viv are lighter and more flirtatious than most of Ms. Reiss’ other couples but don’t take that to mean they’re frivolous or two dimensional. I adored them. It was such a struggle not to strangle Dash as he continued to refuse to see that the solution to the chaos in his life came wrapped in a bright yellow hoodie. And Vivian – GAAH! I loved her soft, quiet strength. Her mix of innocence and worldliness is the perfect foil for Dash’s sometimes naïve bravado and kinky imagination. He’s a guy no woman would say no to – and Vivian did just that!!!

It’s a magical, uncontrived yet realistic story full of real life people who are messy, contradictory and complete with baggage. I couldn’t put it down and by the end, I had a perma- grin.

If you love your romance flirty, fun and with a slow burn, Hard Ball is for you.

4 stories of Alpha men and their woman. The hardship and struggle they face in order to be together. These stories are only the beginning stories of the four couples, others books to follow in order to finish each series.

This was too slow and too much soap opera drama for me. It took me forever just to get through 17% and it was a never ending cycle of highs and lows for the heroine, who was too stupid to stop putting herself in the same situation over and over again. Been there. Read that. A hundred times before and all ended with the same rating.

Great bundle of First stories from 4 series. Awesome story and excellent writing. I clicked through to purchase book 2 and 3 in the submission series and they were priced $2 higher than book one. The books are worth every penny but I'm already over my book budget. Will pass on reading the remaining three firsts in this box set.

After almost 4 months of having this on my "currently reading" list, I finally finished it this weekend. I mainly read through this set of stories when I wanted a bit of a break from other books I was reading, or when I had 5-10 minutes here and there to devote to my Kindle. (Although I have to admit, probably not the best book to read in public -- I started to read this while waiting for a doctor's appointment, and had to switch to another Kindle book (the other one I just finished) b/c man...If you've read these, or know the type of book it is, you'll understand why)

Anyway, I highly enjoyed "Forbidden" by this author, and when I saw these stories were available to download (I believe for free) from her, I instantly hit the purchase button.

Overall, pretty good reads. The first book in "Forbidden" is the third story in this set ("Kick"), so if you liked that one, definitely check out the next two in that series. I also enjoyed "Hardball" (b/c I'm a sucker for baseball stories) and the bonus "Marriage Games." I thought the first story ("Submission") was decent, but honestly, it's now been almost 4 months since I finished that one, so I'm not sure if I'm giving that a fair review -- I did like it enough to keep going. The second story ("Spin") I had a hard time getting through. I wasn't really interested in the characters or the story at all -- this story is actually the reason it took me so long to read them all, because I hate not finishing books in case something changes and it becomes worthwhile, but I probably should have saved myself some time and just done that. My Kindle copy also had another bonus story at the end that I ended up skimming through, just because I'm not really into military-type stories (at least in this specific genre).

Overall (minus the 2nd and 6th story), this was good and definitely worth the free (or close to free) download. I am interested in reading the next part of "Marriage Games," but probably should get through my ever expanding library check outs first.

Started out fine....

I got this box set through kindle unlimited. I looked forward to a full story to unfold or at least two full stories. To my surprise I got the first story in three different series. When I wanted to continue to read the second book, I would had to pay. I liked the books, but I was irritated that I was left with cliffhangers.

Only one of the books in the set was a full length book not ending in a cliffhanger. I really enjoyed the story between Vivian & Dash. I would love to see more of this couple.

Overall the writing was very good. I just didn't like that I couldn't finish the first three books because they were in series.

Good writing

Ok, the writing is really good, although there is an abundant use of the f word, so if that bothers you, skip this one.
However, I didn’t enjoy them enough to splurge on the rest of the books in the series’ these are the start of. I just couldn’t bring myself to care about the characters enough. Fiona felt the most real, I felt sorry for her.
I liked the standalone one best, Hardball. Dash and Vivian felt most real with issues so many people have to deal with, and demonstrated good coping skills overall. And they actually did some communicating.

It might seem like a bargain bundle of over 1,100 pages by a well-known author until you invest hours in the first of the four alphas only to discover that if you want to know the outcome you’ll have to buy books not included in this bundle. It appears that’s true for the other alphas, too — the telling clue: (“first in series”). I only found one alpha story that appeared to be standalone. So, if you like teasers and are a Reiss fan, you probably won’t mind. Beyond that, this collection needed serious editing.

Buyer beware - all cliffhangers

The writing was very disjointed and amateurish. Nothing flowed and the jump from one thought to the next was very confusing. A lot of the conversations are humbled and the style it is written makes it unclear who is speaking. Also, all stories are cliffhanger so the author wants you to spend lots of money to finish the story. No thanks, they aren't that interesting and are poorly written.

First time reading CD Weiss and after meeting the Drazen clan I am addicted to this family! I found myself reading the intro to each of the Drazen children and had to continue to their series before reading the next Alpha book. So happy I have been introduced to CD Weiss and the Drazen clan! I also enjoyed Hardhitter but not as fond of Marriage games in this book.

Mixed signals

I thought this book was 4 in a series, however I eventually found out they are from completely different ones. So I was a little worried reading about how dark some of the books were but I couldn't put it down. The author has such a way to leave you on the edge of your seat. My favorites were kick and hardball!!!!! I will read the next in series

This was a slightly disappointing read, as the stories have previously appeared in compilations. I occasionally like to reread books, but I wasted a lot of time and energy reading it. This does not take away from the stories themselves, but just make sure you don't already have them somewhere in your the pile.

Only four stars because I hadn't realised that they were books I'd already read... thought it was new stories.. so probably my bad. The individual books themselves are all gold! Nice to remind myself about Jonathan, Antony etc. :) a great way to begin the CD Reisz trip if your new to her work.

A great introduction to some of C.D. Reiss's most popular works! I love how she takes her complex characters, puts them through the ringer, and then gives them such sweet HEA's. The stories are all fantastically written and are gripping, edgy, and full of twists. It's hard to say which is my favorite-I enjoyed them all and each had such a different feel to them. I would definitely recommend these (and all of the full length books as well) if you are looking for a super steamy and suspenseful ride!

The Smutt was fine everything else sucked.

First book no emotional investment, didn't like the characters. Second one was interesting and then not. Third was all kinds of messed up. Fourth was the best by far.

I enjoyed each of these starter books, to the stage of even following the series in a couple of them.
I followed up with more of this writer's stories, because each was well crafted and interesting, fully engaging me in the story of each.
