Nothing is going Maddy’s way: she just lost her job, her landlord is a lecherous nightmare and three months ago, her boyfriend dumped her and the reason why haunts her: Your libido is out of control for a girl.
Those words have been circling in her head ever since.
When a job working on a new subscription box—chock full of fun for his and her pleasure— falls into Maddy’s lap, she thinks the universe is laughing at her. And when she gets a look at the jaw-droppingly handsome owner of Purely Pleasure, she knows it.
Carter Daniels understands passion. The inventor and reluctant CEO has made his name—and his fortune—on creating some of the hottest toys on the market. When the delectable Maddy’s hired as the company’s new social media manager, Carter tells himself to stay away, no matter how much the spirited brunette tempts him.
But at the company retreat, Carter overhears a tipsy Maddy confessing her ex broke things off because of her high libido. Now Carter can think of nothing else.
Maddy’s curves and quiet strength have got Carter all worked up…now it’s his turn to show her what it’s like with a man who can’t just keep up, but stay up.
Skylar Hill writes steamy romance about once-in-a-lifetime love.
She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her very own lumberjack/soulmate. When she’s not writing, she’s hiking one of the trails around her beautiful city, or drinking chai lattes in a cafe and eating way too many cinnamon rolls. She has several tattoos…but in places only her husband gets to see!
She is currently hard at work on her next steamy novel.

This was such a sweet love story! Carter and Maddy are absolutely perfect for each other, and once they finally realize that, their chemistry is on fire! I loved the return to Skylar Hill's Portland, and this story was really terrific. Beyond the wonderful love story, we have an alpha male who truly knows how to treat women right. He works hard to create a work environment that is safe and allows for the free exchange of information and ideas. That it's a business making sex toys is just a bonus! Both Carter and Maddy know what it means to sacrifice for the ones they love, and Nat isn't the only one who can see how right they are for each other. We also met several wonderful secondary characters that I hope will become primary characters in their own future books by Ms. Hill. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Actually I would give this book 8-10 stars if I could. This was an absolutely delightful book that I enjoyed reading so very much. Maddy is reeling from the loss of her job when the owner of the company was arrested for fraud and before that her boyfriend had broken up with her because she liked sex too much. When her best friend Nat, who is the CFO for a company that manufactures and sells six toys, recommends her for an unexpected opening in the company she interviews and is offered the job immediately by the owner. Carter is smitten with Maddy and excited about her working for the company because she has very great ideas. Maddy is just as smitten with Carter. They have to navigtate a few difficulties in order to finally get their HEA but you have to read this book to find out exactly how and I'm sure you will be as enchanted as I was. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily writing a review to let others know just how fantastic this book is.
I loved almost everything about this book. Carter is like dream guy. He's alpha AND a feminist. His entire life is literally dedicated to the pursuit of the female orgasm, but isn't a creep about itat all. After a rage quit another book I definitely appreciated this pro believing women, pro equality, sex positive book. I liked the heroine. She was fun and quirky and her emotional hangups were realistic without being the focus of the book and I appreciated it wasn't just another "Oh I'm so fat" thing. They were adorable together and I thought the romance was decently paced for a shorter book. My only real complaint is how abrupt the end is. It feels like you're turning around the drama point to move on but instead of getting some time to see them together after everything is resolved it has them engaged married blah blah blah in the paragraph immediately after his successful procedure. Like damn at least give us an epilogue
Maddy just lost her job to a lousy boos and her boyfriend kind of cliche but the reason for thier break up puts Maddy's self esteem very low.Her best friend come to her rescue in setting up a job for her at Nat is working at. Carter owns a sex toy company. He just moved to new location to be closer to his sister. Cater hires Maddy and cue the instant chemistry leads to flirting, a lot of flirting and finally they get together.Somehow they are perfect for each other and I just really enjoyed reading their story. This is one of those book that have the perfect characters and the perfect plot and would not put down without finishing kind of book.
I had heard about this novel in a newsletter and had been excited to read this book. I wasn't disappointed! I've read a few books by Skylar Hill now, and this is another story I've loved. It's the first in a new series, and has a very slight mention of another series of hers, which made me smile.
This story centers on Maddy and Carter. Maddy has come out of a bad relationship with some scars and lower self-esteem, but over the course of the book, she improves greatly. Maddy has spunk and an adventurous streak, and it is embraced fully by Carter. Carter is a hot geek, complete with glasses, bad jokes, and a heart that'll make you melt because of how much he cares about others. He runs his company with an awareness of women and does his best to make everyone feel like they are part of a family and in an inclusive environment. Together, the two start off crushing hard on one another, which eventually leads to some very steamy, exciting, and beautiful moments between them that you can't help but love. What's between them is so hot!
Overall, I really loved the book. I read it in one sitting, unable to stop reading late at night. Maddy is a fun character, and the company she joins is full of secondary characters that I eagerly await books for, especially her best friend. The story is unapologetically pro-woman, focusing on Maddy's journey of healing and full awareness of herself, as well as giving an excellent example of how a company could be run, with strong female leaders, a focus on feeling safe and welcome, and a leading male who has no problem deferring to important women in his life. The story is well-paced and well-written, with few grammar mistakes, with just enough drama to push the story along and help you feel for Carter.
I received a complimentary copy of this book; this is my honest and voluntary review. I also bought this book because I loved it so much. I highly recommend it to everyone!
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book, All Worked Up by Skylar Hill.
After reading all of Skylar's other books, I've come to expect a lot from her. A lot of beautiful words, a lot of romance and intense heat between the lead characters, a lot of well thought out and researched situations and facts, an incredibly well written storyline that holds my attention like watching the most gorgeous sunset or seeing THE perfect rainbow. Well, All Worked Up not only met my expectations, it far exceeded them! I could reread this book many times and never get tired of it. Thank you Skylar, for writing this book and sharing it with the world!!
Maddy is having the worst luck. Her landlord is a creepy d*ck, her ex-boyfriend is a douch-canoe and she just lost her job. Luckily, her best friend, Natalie, just moved back to town with the company she works for and they have an opening that is perfect for Maddy. Carter is Natalie's boss and owner/CEO of Purely Pleasure, a company that makes sex toys. He is in a bind because his Social Media Manager quit and he needs a new one, ASAP. It is Carter's luck day, Natalie's best friend, Maddy is a Social Media Manager that needs a job. From the moment they meet at Maddy's interview, they are attracted to each other but keep it hidden so not to jeopardize any working relationship they might have. Maddy gets the job and as they spend time together and learn about one another, they come to really like and respect each other. They also begin an intimate relationship but everything may be in jeopardy thanks to an *ssh*l* that seems to want everyone to be as miserable as him. Will their newfound relationship survive his interference or will the damage be too great?
Wow what and amazing story! This was an extraordinary story. Completely well written and thought through. I so cannot wait to get the newsletter showing the proposal.
This is Maddy and Carter story. Of all places Maddy ends up working for book holiday personal toy company. We're she meets her new boss and has to curve her enthusiasm. She is instantly attracted to him and him to her. But they both decide they need to stay away from each other because of working with each other. Then there's the creek the son of one of the investors this man is vile. He even trys to corner Maddy and one of the closet at the job. And that's when Carter saves her. After their company retreat in he over here how her ex treated her, he may just have to do something about it. But as they grow closer together. The creep Dillin thinks he's going to take control of Carter's company but he's smarter than they given credit for and boy wait to you see what he does to this jerk. And I love Carter's little sister Olivia and what he does to save her life is amazing. But you're going to have to read the story to get all the particulars and I swear you're going to love this book. Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.
I loved this book! With a premise like this one has it would seem that it might read like an adult movie, well, thankfully, this is not the case. Yes, there's plenty of passion and steam, but it doesn't supersede the romance or the building of a relationship and the drama that sometimes surrounds them. The passion is instant and the intimacy is organic. I love how flustered and awkward Maddy gets. She is strong, creative, and finds confidence with good friends like Nat and with the genuine affection of Carter.
Carter is a geek in a hot body and his interest in Maddy is completely genuine. Sure he likes how she looks, but it's quickly apparent that what really draws him to her is the substance. She's compassionate, self-sacrificing, fun, amusing, hard-working, and has an intriguing libido issue. All together she presents the perfect package for him and watching their romance grow is an absolute pleasure.
Overall, this story was wonderful! The drama finds a natural and very satisfying conclusion, the side characters are endearing and draw me in so I'm interested in this as a series, and the MC's are totally worth spending time getting to know. I read and reviewed this ARC from the author most willingly.
So good. Skylar Hill has yet to disappoint me so far, I truly love her writing style.
I admit I was slightly down in the mouth that All Worked Up was not the highly anticipated (at least by ME) follow-up to the Exile Ink series about Lydia and Aiden. I am trying SO hard to be patient but patience is a virtue I only have in very small amounts and I'm so ready to for "Lyden" to have their HEA. I so ship them.
At any rate, Maddy and Carter were a nice appeasement. I love a quick little romance that is steamy, well-written and doesn't necessarily put us through all the usual angsty BS. Don't get me wrong, sometimes the angsty BS is a necessary evil but sometimes you just want a quick Sunday afternoon read that is drama-free. This book is that.
I really enjoyed the relationship between the two mains and I liked meeting the other ladies at Purely Pleasure. I'm hoping to hear more about them (especially Dr. Renee for some reason. I'm picturing her as a real "corporate meets hippy" type in long flowy dresses with quirky patterns and lots of scarves. I'm also picturing her as a little older--maybe mid to late forties--but secretly a sexual dynamo. This lady NEEDS a story!!) and I would love to revisit that office and see how Nat fares as the new CEO. Oops, spoiler.
After reading the first three chapters in an early sneak peek, I was looking forward to the full book being out. I was not disappointed but I didn't expect to be either. I loved Skylar Hill's Exile Ink series (can't wait for the next 3 of those!) so I knew this would be another great story.
Carter is the kind of guy you just either want to bottle up and keep for yourself or duplicate so everyone could be happy. He's down to earth, smart, sexy and has created a safe and open work environment for his employees. Maddy's had a rough six months until her BFF, Nat, moves back to Portland from NYC and sets her up with an interview with Carter. Maddy is just what he needs for the company but he can't deny she may be what he wants for himself also...except he should keep his distance since he's the boss.
They had great chemistry and all of the characters, including the jerks, were written very well. I enjoyed the touching side story of Carter's sister and the sweet ending. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.
Billionaire and his employee taboo romance..Must Read
Carter owns and is CEO of a sex toy company. He has just moved the company across country to be near his family while his kid sister has a major health crisis. He is also able to financial help by getting her the absolute best doctors. Maddy is a local hire. There is an immediate sexual chemistry and awareness between the two. They try to maintain a distance as he is her boss. Maddy can relate as her younger brother had a major childhood disease and recovered. She is able to destress and soothe Carter. It helps his parents and sister like her also. There are obstacles trying to keep the two apart. With Dillion sexually harassing the females it gets j tense at times. I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to read Skylar Hill's next book
Loved every page of this book about Carter, who is the CEO of his company and his new social media manager, Maddy. She gets hired when her best friend moves back to Portland and Carter's company who she works for needs a new manager. What she didn't expect is the hot CEO and Carter didn't expect sparks with the new hire. Skylar Hill tells a story that jumps at you through the pages and a story about two people who have a lot in common becoming friends and flirting until one day it explodes between them. A really feel good story where the man loves his family and will sacrifice anything for them with Maddy doing the same for hers. A perfect match with no unnecessary drama, with steamy scenes and emotions you can't help but feel when reading making Skylar Hill one of my favorite authors. *I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book*
I ABSOLUETELY ADORED this book! The cover was wonderful, but the story was the thing that really hit me strong. I thoroughly enjoyed how Carter wasn't afraid to let the women of his company have a strong voice and how much he cared about their safety and comfort. I also loved the connection Carter has with Olivia. There's just something about a man like that having the feelings he has for someone so young, and the fact that he was able to be the one person she needed most in the world brought many a tear to the eye. Totally outstanding writing! Really looking forward to the other books based on this company.
***BTW, I totally LOVED the epilogue Skylar sent out!
**Honest review voluntarily provided from a Complimentary Copy**
I voluntarily reviewed this ARC book. Great book. Wonderful love story, could not put it down. Maddy needs a change. She is in a bad apartment with a creepy manager and she lost her job to a fraudulent boss. On top of that, her boyfriend dumps her because she likes intimacy too much. Best friend to the rescue. Nat works for a great company that is moving back to town and they have the perfect position for Maddy. Carter is a man who runs a company but misses being in the lab. Bringing his company back to Portland so that he can be near his family when a health crisis pops up is the right thing to do. But he has other plans, plans that may need to be altered when he meets the enchanting Maddy.
For Keeps was the first book I read from Skylar Hill and I really enjoyed it. Then I read the rest of her books in a row and I absolutely loved them all and I want more. Maddy is having a rough time, she lost her job because her boss was arrested by the FBI and now she's having a hard time finding a new one. Then her boyfriend David broke up with her because he said her sex drive was too high for a woman. The good thing is her bestie since childhood, Nat moved back to Portland after being gone for five years. Carter Daniels is the founder and CEO of Purely Pleasure, a company that manufactures and sells sex toys. He started the company five years ago in NYC but because of a family emergency he moved the business back to his hometown of Portland. Maddy is excited when Nat, who is the company's CFO gets her a job at Purely Pleasure. Maddy is in charge of their social media department and trying very hard not to crush on Carter. She has no idea Carter can't stop thinking about her either. OMG, Carter was AMAZEBALLS ! He was such an amazing man and a total sweetie to his baby sister. This book is definitely a must read !
Not what you think. I loved this book, it really put a mature look at the sex toy industry. I loved Carter, the founder and CEO of his sex to company and an all around great guy. In comes Maddy, a down on her luck college graduate who just happens to have a friend that works for Carter What a perfect match, and office romance with a twist. Both Maddy and Carter have things they are dealing with, Maddy with her self esteme after her ex made her feel like a whore, and Carter trying to help save the life of his litttle sister. They are such great people, who have amazing sex, and need each other emotionally to round out the relationship. I hope this story goes on, I look forward to seeing them both as they grow in their relationship.
Oh mine...I've got this book for years and just able to read it yesterday and...woow...this book is sooo good i was sorry that i just read it >< And all the characters were awesome..except for dillon and his father and also the ex
Carter..he's just a good boss, friend, brother, son..and most of all as a man! Care for his female employee that he'd do anything to protect them and create a very comfy environment workplace for his female employee. A caring brother and son that he would do everything in his power to save his little sister...And as a man..just couldn't say it anymore..he was that good and loving and protective..
Now i need to read about their awesome best friend a k a matchmaker Nat..^^
All I have to say is "Where can I find a guy like Carter?". He's hunky, smart, devoted to his family AND makes sex toys...need I say more! As you can tell I loved Carter and this book. Maddy was a great character- although I think she should have decked the ex. What man complains about a woman having too high a libido? Most complain cause it's not high enough. There are two more books scheduled for this series and I can't wait. By the way- loved the tie in to the "Exile Ink" series.
*I received an Advance Readers Copy of this story which I am voluntarily leaving a honest review of*
What a great mixture of fun, family, suspense, hope, and love! Maddy and Carter almost burned the office down with the heat between them during their first meeting at her interview. The flames only got more intense as time moved on. I loved the concept of all the smart, strong, and empowered women, who worked for and ran the company. Laughter and sighs ahead...but no spoilers...not sorry! lol Definitely a great story and well worth reading!
4.5 stars. A very enjoyable story. The whole cast of characters were great and the story line was good. The only area that I felt could be improved was that the conflict in the book never really got to a spot where there was tension, and was resolved super quick. That being said, it's nice to have story that isn't burdened with a lot of angst. Overall, a good story. * I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
This book is sweet and sexy. I love that there's no need for drama in this story, it's just of two compatible people feeling attracted to one another and falling in love after getting to know each other. It's simple, sweet, and just a little bit saucy. All Worked Up got ME all worked up before tugging at my heart strings. Love, love, love. I'd recommend to anyone who just wants to sit and enjoy a nice romantic read.
I voluntarily received an ARC for an honest review. After being shamed by her boyfriend for having a high libido, Maddy makes some life changes. She gets a new job with Purely Pleasure, and meets her new boss Carter. They have amazing chemistry, but he's her boss. Do they cross that line? I really like Skylar's writing style. I also read her Exile Ink. I will definitely read more by her.
What an incredibly sweet romance. I feel in love with these two right off the bat. Maddy and Carter have off the charts chemistry. The love Carter has for his little sister was touching. There was nothing I did not love about this book. I want Nat to have her HEA too.
I'm finding that Skylar Hill is becoming one of my go to authors. There hasn't been any book from her that's let me down. This one is no different. Such a great storyline & characters that feel like old friends.
Skylar Hill is an amazing author. I just discovered her books today, and I am hooked l. Once I started this book it was so hard to put it down. Seriously can't wait to start the next one.
I thoroughly enjoy Skylar's writing. She writes steong, empowered women and men that are not afraid of them. I love it when weak men get dressed down in her books. This story included two such moments and they were both pure gold!!!
Purely pleasure is all for purely leisure read. Good plot. Good writing but could have been better. More in depth exploration of characters feelings and their growth through the books needed to be shown. Very flat with respect to the direction the story takes. Overall an okay read.
