As amnesiac Rei and cutthroat killer Zack try to break out of the basement, they finally arrive at the graveyard that is Floor B4. There, a boy who's become quite taken with Rei has been lying in wait...
Honestly I was a bit disappointed with where the story went in this one. It's still so early in the series and I will be reading on, but I was a little put off by some of the things brought up in this volume. That being said it had nothing to do with the horror parts, which aren't very horror-y in the first place, at least for me, but overall that wasn't my issue.
I’m going to say it again: the game was better. Rachel and Zach were both oddly likeable characters in the game, but now Rachel is super creepy and Zack is annoyingly dramatic. I know that the author is trying to expand more on their characters, but it feels so forced. Speaking of expanding on characters, why does every floor’s villain given the Demon-Slayer-esque tragic backstory? Pumpkin kid’s backstory is that he’s sad that he gets hand-me-downs 💀 like welcome to the world of having siblings, I guess. I can’t feel an ounce of sympathy for him in this version. And why does the Eddie’s design look like Childe from Genshin Impact?
Anyways, I want to like it—I really do—but I’m just hate-reading at this point. It’s still mid (2.5 stars rounded up)
This manga is super twisted and I’m loving it. I really like Zack, but Eddie is my favorite right now. He’s precious! (Major TW for suicidal desires. They talk a lot about who gets to kill the mc and how she wants to die)
This volume was a DELIGHT. A proper TREAT! I didn’t know we got so much more of Eddie’s backstory in the manga. It was so lovely!
Apart from Zack and Ray, Eddie was the other character that made it to my top 3 in this series. In the anime, I found him intriguing because he was so cute while being so deranged. I loved his vision of giving Ray a beautiful death that matched her desires. I think there’s a level of care and attention that I can appreciate from him. He doesn’t want to just destroy. He wants to preserve in a way that best honors the dead person… Honestly, despite my everlasting love for Zack, I think I would’ve chosen Eddie to kill me if I’d been in Ray’s shoes 😂
Regardless, Eddie’s backstory made me more fond of him and more scared of him. He actually has so much love in his heart, but it just turns sour and violent. His need to possess what he loves overtakes his actually caring feelings. All because they wouldn’t give him his own things while he was growing up 😔 I get it. A part of life in a bigger family is getting hand me downs and your things not being yours forever, but it made me feel for him. Again. I know that’s deranged considering he turned all his resentment into the worst possible outcome, but I truly don’t care. He’s still my baby son 🤷🏻♀️
I think that’s everything I have to say about this volume 🤔 I definitely enjoyed it more than the first volume, though I would still say the anime is winning in terms of my preference of format for this story 😂 If we get more background information that’s not in the anime, though, I’ll definitely enjoy that!
This second volume introduces a new threat, an interesting back story and some heart breaking moments that show how corruption affects a child. I am really liking this series, and I think I may be bias because I enjoyed the anime years ago, but I’m excited to keep reading and learning more about Rachel and Isaac as they navigate this maze like building.
i wish they expanded on ray's sudden personality switch (ik they show the reasoning in the first book but they really should go more in depth on it). anyway at least eddie was in this volume? still 3 stars because this plot is just weird
Reading this series is like snacking on saltines. Not particularly good, but you're bored and hungry, so you eat them anyway.
I have nothing really to say in terms of a review. The characters are still pretty one-note, it's not scary, and the dialogue is either repetitive or simple. That's about it.
Since I read the first one I decided to read this one next and I have to say I really so love it. It is so interesting how they add more lore to the masters of the floors than you get to see in the game and I am looking forward to reading the third one.
This is such a twisted story, yet, I am enjoying it and the characters. They are oddly likeable, especially Zak. There is a lot of animal abuse within this volume, but other than that it was a great expansion on the story and excited to continue
Loving this so far, each level you get a twisted serial killer. Which you have to defeat to progress to the next level, I'm little concerned about future volumes. Whilst it's good to have a killer each volume, with a unique backstory, I imagine it'll get old. If you keep doing it every volume, much like villain of the week so hopefully they will add some twists and turns later on.
The interactions between Rachel and Jack are amazing, they play off each so well. I'm not sure if I believe Jack's backstory as it's from his perspective until the other killers, I imagine there is going to be an interesting reveal about that.
We continue from the last volume Zack and Rachel made it to another floor in the elevator we meet a boy named Eddie. You get a background when he was alive, and by the end it them going to next floor.
