*I received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.*

Another fast-paced magical adventure from the authors of Ancient Magic; Hidden Magic is the second book in the Relic Guardians series, and picks up just BEFORE the end of Ancient Magic, but with a different character and in a different place.

I loved this smooth continuity between the two books, that allowed them to both stand alone as individual stories, but also wove them together to create a wider story arc, with Zoe Stark making an appearance by phone and then later in person.

Hidden Magic focuses on Hayley Bevan however, and I actually found Hayley easier to identify with than Zoe. While Zoe is Lara Croft, Indiana Jones and a bit of James Bond, all rolled into one professionally badass bundle, Hayley is more of an ‘everyman’ character. She has a relatively normal job, and her reactions are brave but amateurish in terms of adventurer-skills. Even once she attains some power her instincts and actions remain real and believable to an ordinary person caught up in extraordinary events.

It was interesting to discover more about the rules and limitations of the magic in this world, and that in addition to being born Magicai, the power can be bestowed on (or maybe unlocked in?) someone who was previously unaware that magic even existed. I hope we see more of the reality/ies accessed by the leylines in future books, and I would quite like to know more about how some of these artefacts became imbued with their magical properties.

There was a real surprise for me in terms of a particular character (no spoilers!), but not the relatively minor reveal quite early on in the book. No, I was surprised at how Hayley (our everywoman) dealt with her problems at the climax of the action. I didn’t see it coming, and found the scene and the ending that resulted both shocking and somewhat emotional. I really liked the direction the authors took Hayley with this installment and am totally intrigued to find out what happens to the intrepid team of Relic Guardians next.

My understanding is that the next installment will bring back Jamie, of Rogue Magic fame, and the individual talents of our heroes will begin to combine to form a kickass team (The Warrior, The Scholar, and The Thief). I can’t wait to find out more!

I loved the first book in this series, and when I was offered the chance to get a copy of this book, which is the second book in the series, for an honest review, I jumped at it! Just as I mentioned when reading the first book, I love how the writing styles of the two authors in this series are so similar, leaving no awkward segues into areas of text or visibly different authoring. Hidden magic is just as full of fast paced intreague, interesting and mystical magical artifacts and the battle to get aforementioned magical relics into the right places ( and hands) as in the first book, Ancient Magic. It is nice to see more of some of the characters that were in the first book, and watch them develop, and new characters that add brilliant new interest and plot twists to the story. I feel every book reveals a little more about the world that they live in, and more about the magical underworld that seethes just below the surface. It was every bit as enjoyable a read as Ancient Magic, and like last time, I'm already eagerly awaiting the next book!

Oooh... I like the traveler twist! This world keeps getting more interesting. I hope that the two girls work together in the future. I think that could be VERY interesting. Can't wait to get to the next one! Though I do wish these books were a tad bit longer, even if I had to wait a bit longer between books.

I recieved this book for free and reviewed voluntarily. This book has continued seemingly from the first book Ancient Magic. The main character, Hayley, is just lovely and bringing Zoe in at the end makes these two heroines kickass. I loved the whole concept of finding treasures and having magic attached to them is like finding hidden cache of chocolate. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series as it definitely grabs and holds your attention. Thank you to both authors Victoria DeLuis and Meg Cowley for a fantastic book and overall series.

A Compelling story line. Magic and mayhem. Well written characters. What more can you ask of any book one reads? Hidden Magic is all of this and more. A must read second installment into the Ley Line World Series.
I was voluntarily given an Advanced Readers Copy of this title by the author under no obligation.

This is book 2 of the Relic Guardians series. There is plenty of magic but more than that, it is a really good story. The characters are well developed and there is a lot of action. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I highly recommend this book to all fantasy lovers.

Even though this is the second book, it is just as good as the first. The story line is very intriguing and will draw you in. Our main character, Hayley, is funny, skeptical, a bit too trusting, with a strong moral compass and 100% down to earth. She's not like Zoe at all, but she steps up when necessary. She knows something's not right from the beginning at the dig site and then is sure of it once they get to the museum. When she becomes the accidental protector of an artifact everything changes. Considering she didn't believe in the myths, she adapted really well. All she needs is a bit of training from Zoe and she'll be fine. I liked that Hayley called Zoe at the start before she believed and Zoe was there at the end when it was over. Really, really good book.

Always there are greedy individuals, backed by immense wealth and power, wanting to be more and have more, without a thought for anybody or anything that gets in their way ... and always there will be someone who pays the ultimate price. Another exciting tale of magic and adventure in an exotic location.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Zoe Stark, relic investigator, travels to a new area to look into a case involving a new type of relic. In this story she explores a new area and new challenges, and manages to find a few advantages to help her along in her journey. Magical elements are definitely at play in this book. I'd recommend it to fans of magical genres.

A definite must read for all adventurous magic lovers.

Definitely nonstop action as mentioned in the blurb. A new character is introduced into the mix who is new to the Magic world after getting her hands on an hidden relic. She finds herself on the run from an evil group and is instantly transported to another world where she learns how to control her new talents. When she finally returns, Zoe finds her and together they escape the evil clutches of those who sought her. I was so enthralled with this story I couldn't wait to finish it. I thought about what I personally would do if I were to suddenly acquire magic. Of course my imagination does not even compare to the awesome imaginations of these two authors Ms DeLuis and Ms Cowley when combined together. A definite must read for all adventurous magic lovers.
