Fate put her in his path, and he has no intention of ever letting her go.
Olivia Fairchild gave up her dream of being a competitive barrel racer at nineteen, to follow her first love wherever his life as an F15 pilot took them. When his plane was shot down months later, right before the birth of their daughter, Liv’s world shattered. She returned to her parents’ isolated ranch in Colorado to raise her daughter alone. One year led into the next, and before she knew it, her daughter was grown and gone—leaving Liv bored and cranky. She finds herself spending too much time on social media feeds, cyber-stalking the hot guitar player she met at a concert over the summer.
Ben Rice recognized her as soon as he saw her sitting at the bar. Liv, that was her name, and fate kept bringing them together. The first time he saw her, after his band CB Rice opened at Red Rocks, he watched her. She loved music—and she felt it. Not everyone did. She danced, she laughed, she smiled, she lived. That was why he remembered her name when he introduced himself at the end of the show. “I’m Liv,” she’d said. And he was ready to. He’d endured too many struggles in the last few years. He’d worked hard to keep the band going, and he wasn’t going to give up. With a new record about to be released, this was their year—he could feel it.
Used to getting what he wants, Ben pursued the reluctant Liv. But knowing he wanted more from her than she was willing to give, she told him following a man around the globe wasn’t in the stars for her. Been there, done that, retired the t-shirt. She had her own stars to chase this time.
When those stars fall around her feet, and Ben refuses to let her sweep them up alone, how could a girl not love him? And when she does, how can she let him go? A better question is how can she ask him to stay when she sees how bright his future could be without her?
This is book can be read as a standalone with no cliffhanger.
This book had a few moments, but mostly it frustrated me. I thought since the leading couple were in their 40’s, it would mean a mature relationship. This couple was anything but mature. Ben, the sexy cowboy/musician with his own band, could be controlling. He overcame his wild past and ready to settle day. I found it hard to like Liv. She couldn’t make up her mind, and at one point was down right cruel to Ben. I wasn’t invested in this couple. Their relationship was all about the sex and lacked trust. Plus, the ending was rushed. I am not sure if I will read the next book in this Series or not.
I enjoyed this book due to the fact that it has older characters. The only thing I didn't like about Olivia is that she didn't know what she wanted nor could she make up her mind about Ben. Olivia gave me a headache until she finally figured it out. Ben deserves a Gold Star for putting up with Olivia, and not giving up. The chemistry is SMOKIN HOT between them.
Voluntary review of an ARC. I really loved this book, even though I would have liked to smack both Ben and Liv upside the head a few times. The characters were very interesting and engaging. The romance was hot but not too graphic. The fact that the lovers were a little older also appealed to me. Recommended.
Fall for Me is the first book in the Cowboys of Crested Butte by Heather Slade and what an awesome way to have a second chance at love and life after death and divorce.
Ben, lead musician of his band CB Rice, divorced single father of two boys, who has lived life in the fast land for over two decades. Between having cancer, a bitter divorce and an intervention he realizes that life just might be passing him by and maybe just maybe there is someone out there who can give him his second chance at love and a life filled with happiness…Liv may just be that someone.
Liv, a widow at nineteen and now 20 years later with a grown daughter in college and a ranch she loves goes to a CB Rice concert which she have been following for a long time (loves the lead singer’s voice) with her daughter, her best friend, and her daughter’s best friend. While at the concert she meets the lead singer aka Ben Rice and therein lies an attraction that neither can get away from but with Ben wanting more and Liv not knowing how to have a relationship these two might be destined to be passing ships in the night….but fate has other plans an keeps throwing them together.
Each has past heartaches, insecurities, one living life on his terms, another doesn’t know how to open her life and heart to another and friends helping them to find their way to a fuller and richer life but can these two find a way to make it work and get a second chance at love???
Ben has made his fair share of mistakes in the past, but that only makes him absolutely sure that his attraction to Liv isn't another one. Liv, on the other hand, has been alone for so long she really doesn't know how to make room in her life for a relationship, especially one with an intense, lovesick singing cowboy who pushes all her buttons. Their journey is fraught with insecurities and heartache and more than once I wanted to shake some sense into both of them, but their story is a brilliant look at love for the over-40 folks who are still very much in the prime of their lives.
This book was a midnight read for me, meaning I started it way too late at night and couldn't put it down until I'd finished it somewhere around 4:00 am. The author just draws the reader in with a beautiful, captivating story line and characters that feel so authentic. The love these two have for each other shines through despite all the problems standing in their way. It's an extremely talented author who can create such believable characters and situations an amazing story that makes the reader want to never leave this fictional world. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
A widow and a divorcee find love This was a good story with lead characters that were appealing, realistic, and strong. I liked both Liv and Ben, flaws and all, because they bravely soldiered on and took a chance despite their doubts, fears, and differences. It wasn't easy or smooth-sailing but then the best things usually aren't for they require a lot of effort and determination. Unlike most of the romances I've read, the lead couple here were older (in their 40s like me) and had kids so I could really relate to their predicament. It's true that love can come and happen at any stage of one's life, but it's up to the person if he/she welcomes or rejects it. The story had a great setting too and wonderful supporting characters. I liked the scenic, relaxing, and peaceful ranches that Liv and Ben called home as well as the good friends, neighbors, and family that came with it. I'm excited to read the next book in the Cowboys of Crested Butte series (Dance with Me) which features Liv's daughter Renie and their neighbor Billy. The sneak peek at the end of this book made me smile. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
A unique story line that is well written and full of suspence. I was surprised how captivating the story was and I like the plot. All girls have dreamed about their Idol looking their way. So this was an amazing read. I like the way Heather Slade takes the aspects of family into her story. It is not always an easy ride to combine two families. This way we all can relate to the main characters and their situation. I like the chemistry and the emotions between the characters. Liv and Ben are not young teenagers and I like the twist that this is about second chance love after being 40 years. We all have the chance of love in spite of our past. It is not always easy but worth it. I can only recommend this amazing book.

Fall for Me was a fun and sexy read I loved this book. Heather Slade is an amazing author who has written a five star story with some really great characters. It was a page turner I didn't want to put it down until I finished it. There is Liv widow and mother with one daughter Liv loves the band CB Rice and soon she meets Ben the lead singer of the band, Ben is a divorced father with two sons who he is devoted to. Liv and Ben have some serious chemistry between them. It was a fun read because the characters are in there 40s and it was nice to read about mature people who feel real. This is a story with some ups and downs well worth the read. I honestly recommend this book.
Fall For Me by Heather Slade is a very good book. This is a realistic, charming and funny look at love after 40. Liv and Ben have great chemistry and you could not help but fall in love with them as they fell in love with each other. This well written book features complex characters, an interesting and engaging story and down home feel and charm. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
Who hasn't had fantasies about their favorite singer falling madly in love with them. This one is a gripping second chance romance and the author even touches on some of the issues of blending families, which I thought was great. We read romance for that warm fuzzy feeling and Fall for Me left me wanting more.
This story was really wonderful.Great relatable characters, Beautiful emotional story line .You will not be disappointed. One of my favorite books of 2017.
I liked the characters because they were older and this gave them a 2nd chance at love, or maybe the 1st chance at real love. Unlike her name, Liv hadn't really lived at all, but she finally takes a chance on Ben. Hot and explosive are words that come to mind when they do meet. I know Liv was sheltered for the most part. Then raising her daughter all those years, she never got to be "Liv". She did go after her dream with both hands and I was so tickled. Yes! Never too old for dreams. Then devastation and anger. Ben had been thru a lot, and he still had a few issues to work thru, but he was committed to Liv. He was awesome and hot to boot. The journey they took with all the ups and downs was so realistic I felt I was taking it with them, all emotions included. The seamless switching of POV'S gave me insight to both sides. That was a definite plus, no wondering. I received an ARC from the author and am giving my honest review.
I received an ARC of this book which I voluntarily reviewed. I found this book very enjoyable to read, the characters are older, there's a musician and lots of horses, right up my street! Olivia was widowed at a very young age and feels like she moved through life as a daughter, wife and then mother without really taking any time for herself. She keeps bumping into Ben but doesn't think a relationship between then can go very far as she feels she has nothing to offer. I have to admit there were times in this book when I wanted to slap Liv, pushing Ben away like that. Always a good sign when you get that involved with the characters! Definitely a recommended read!
A divorcee and widow finds love. I liked this because the characters were older. At times in the book, Liv drove me crazy because she couldn't make up her mind about Ben, but Ben keeps trying to win her over. In this book you get and family, cowboys and a singer. Can't wait to see what happens next in the series.
"Fall for Me" (Cowboys of Crested Butte Book One) by Heather Slade is a great read. I enjoyed Ben and Liv's story. This story has romance, passion, family, cowboys, musicians, and more. Great start to a series. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series in "Dance with Me". Highly recommend to all fans of romance, cowboys, and series.
Ben Rice lead singer/guitarist of the band CB Rice met Olivia after their performance at Red Rocks. He spotted her in the audience and sang to her.
Olivia 'Liv' Fairchild was at the concert at Red Rocks with her daughter Renie, her best friend Paige and Paige's daughter Blythe. Much teasing occurred as Ben crooned his songs to her. It's after the band left the stage that things got more interesting.
The seats the friends had scored for the concert were next to the VIP section and that's where Ben and his band settled after their set to watch the rest. For Ben though he only had eyes for Olivia.
When he introduces himself after the concert we see just how clueless Liv is about flirting.
This isn't the only time Ben is going to run into Liv and that becomes the catalyst for a interesting relationship.
Liv's daughter Renie is heading to college, and every moment she can spend with her is special. Skiing they run into Ben again with his sons, and then Ben once more in Las Vegas for a Charity Concert. While Ben takes this as an omen, Liv decides she has to find herself as Liv before she can even think about a relationship.
First read from this author. Found the start a bit disjointed, the story jumped about too much, wasn't sure where it was going. We meet Liv, a 40 yr old widow, who's been widowed since not long after her marriage 21yrs earlier, her daughter and her friends, what little of them she has. Over the course of a year she attends a few concerts for a band she really likes and keeps bumping into the lead singer who she has a bit of a crush on. Ben is interested but finds Liv hard to work out. Being honest, she behaves like a spoilt child that needs a good slap for a good part of the book, Ben on the other hand behaves like an obsessed stalker, just a bit full on and creepy. However, the story takes a bit of a turn mid-way through and that's what kept me reading. They both have the chance to follow their dreams but in very different directions, with shocking consequences. It becomes much more believable and although ending a bit abruptly, it was ok.The taster for Book 2 in this series at the end actually seems like a better read already.
Ben is a singer of a band called CB. They were on the cusp of becoming big. He is divorced with two boys and shares custody. Olivia (Liv) is a widow and has an adult daughter. She inherited the ranch she lives in from her parents. Ben and Liv met by chance three times in a year, and this time he was letting her go. They were in Las Vegas and he was performing in a charity concert. His family owns Crested Butte a ski resort in Colorado, a number of hours away from Liv in Colorado. They both have issues they have to overcome, but it’s really hard. They are drawn to each other like a magnet. But, he has to tour and she finally decides she’s going to pursue barrel racing. So they’ll be apart a lot. This is a push and pull story with love and two independent people who want control. It’s an emotional story with all the feels. It’s very informational, too.
I received this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. Liv is the widow of an Air Force Pilot. She married young right out of high school, got pregnant and was a widow before her baby was born. Her Daughter is in her last year at Dartmouth and empty nester Liv has a ranch where she boards other people horses and pretty much keeps to herself with only a few close friends. CB Rice is one of her favorite bands and Ben is their lead singer. Fate has made it so Liv and Ben have bumped into each other several times in the last year. There is definite attraction there but she is scared of letting anyone in and he has some issues of his own.
Fall for Me (Cowboys of Crested Butte Book 1) by Heather Slade is a wonderful book. This is a great romance that is based in reality and is all the more emotionally moving because of it. A beautiful romance between two characters that have lived, loved and lost. The author has penned a storyline that engages your emotions and your mind. Ben and Liv are an awesome couple, each struggling with their pasts to get another shot at happiness.
This is a new author to me so I had no expectations going into the book. The chemistry is odd between Ben (CW star) & Liv a fan who owns a horse ranch. Instalove is always a stretch for me but the author does a passable job of making it real. The chemistry between the two characters was what was off for me. I ended the book more confused about the author's writing style than when I first opened the book. I'm going to read the second book in this series before I make a final assessment.
What a book! You’ve got rock stars and ranchers, barrel racers and mothers, and a couple of kids thrown in the mix.It starts out at a rock concert and you’d never believe it ends up at a ski resort and a ranch, and lots in between! If you like this sort of thing, like I do,then this is the book for you.
I did enjoy the story but I felt like Liv's character was a little to messes up. I realize that her insecurities and independent nature were the focus of the book, but it was a bit much. I did enjoy it enough that I am going for the next book in the series
I'm a huge Heather Slade fan. But this was too boring for me. Maybe because it's older or maybe even because it's not security based or maybe even because I've read so many authors in between? I just couldn't get past the 5th chapter
