I just finished reading The One-Minute Money Mentor for Women. It would be a great addition to anybody's book collection; male or female. Deborah's insight into the importance of a woman's economic security no matter her age, race, ethnicity, occupation, or income level is integral. For many years, marriage was woman's ticket to economic security but times are changing and we are being taught how to get our own money. This is a great tool to have in that journey.

It is said in Ecclesiastes 7:12 that wisdom is protection just as money is protection, but the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the lives of its possessors. That can certainly be said of this book for its goal is to assist women primarily with gaining a better understanding of managing their finances. From presenting balanced and correct views of commonly-held beliefs to providing ways to improve financial standing, the author shares information that will leave readers better off—if they choose to follow the ideas and concepts in the book.

I highly recommend this book for women at all stages of life and anyone else who wants valuable and practical financial information.

This book is a financial mindset book for women from a Christian viewpoint. The first few chapters of the book could be useful for women dealing with financial challenges. Later in the book however, Smith-Pegues has a number of chapters on people skills, networking, leading, entrepeneurship s that that are not financially related and should be in a different book. As an MBA in Finance who has taught many financial management sessions myself, I have read many financial books that are much more useful. For a Christian perspective I recommend Mary Hunt, Dave Ramsey, and Howard Dayton among others much more than this book.

This shortish book contains a wealth of information and advice on how women should and can get familiar with their finances and begin to manage them. The author uses quotes, examples, and analogies from the Old and New Testament to disperse any believes that dealing with money and investing is ‘ unchristian ‘. While it is not a five minute read it is a good introduction with follow up actions to get started. One negative point is the lack of dealing with credit as this seems needed nowadays. Nevertheless, I would recommend this as an introduction.

"The One-Minute Money Mentor for Women" is a great intro book about finance but I don't think the content is just for women only- young adults, fresh graduates, men and etc. will find there are good advice on personal finance.

The materials covered are pretty basic, like common sense to me. Abundance of articles or books are available everywhere. That said, I didn't learn anything new but I am bias for I have an extensive background in accounting and in finance. For readers who are newbies to personal finance, investment and such, "The One-Minute Money Mentor for Women" would definitely make a helpful read. The writing is easy to follow and well structured, even people with nil finance background should find the book useful.

"The One-Minute Money Mentor for Women" is a Christian-based kind of finance read. I personally find the quoting of scriptures and occasional Christian lectures distracting.

Overall, this is a decent read. The author has done a great job to put together the important aspects of personal finance without confusing readers. A 3.5 star rating.

I was expecting a book on personal finances for women. What I got was a book sort of about personal finances for women but more so about quoting scriptures. And scriptures that really don’t have much to do with finances or had me scratching my head and questioning the author’s sanity. No where in the description does it mention that Pegues’ financial strategies and tips are based on bible teachings. I personally don’t have a problem with that I just wished I had been given a heads up. Would I have chosen this book to read if I had known that...perhaps not. I’ll never know. Now I think Pegues might have so actual good tips but they are all lost within the scripture quoting and personal stories that don’t really much to the book. The book is title one-minute money mentor but not once was that really explained as to what is one-minute about this financial strategy. Every chapter there’s either a quote or something but ehhh. Most of her stories or tips are aimed at married women or women looking to be married and with kids. Which is not my life or aspirations right now. Final thoughts nothing ground breaking here but if you are a women looking to base your financial goals on scriptures then this book might be for you. If you are a women looking for straightforward finical advice then this book is may not be for you.

I do love a good book about finance, and this was an adequate example. I was surprised to find it was faith based and probably would not have chosen to read it if I had known, but that fact did not detract from the advice offered.
