Will this bundle of joy pull the couple together or tear them apart?
Sandra E. Sinclair is a dreamer and hopeless romantic. Sandra grew up in London, England where the skies are often gray and the streets could be cleaner. However, she doesn't let this dampen her spirits. She loves her hometown and considers herself a true-blue Londoner, who is happy to find her sunshine overseas, and she does as often as she can. It’s through traveling abroad that she finds her inspiration for her stories.
Her stories are designed to elicit every emotion in her readers. You will laugh, cry, be shocked, and titillated. The one thing you won't be, is bored.
What a delightful little romance about a situation that probably happened often back in the day. Women were left without means because of the actions of others, and after seeking on his work where the targets of appropriate behavior by members of the household . That is what led to Pru to seek a marriage far, far away .
Our hero Austin is a less-than-perfect person, but evidently very appealing . He's got some definite ideas about the baby that shows up on the scene , but he never gives our heroine time enough to explain who the baby really is . I love how the author manage this . The author developed both characters well, and they both added to the story. I also like the way she developed the secondary characters in the story.
This was a fun read with a very interesting and satisfying conclusion.
You are an heiress and suddenly your parents have been murdered and everything is gone but your big brother. And then he brings you to the house of family friends, asking them to watch over you while he goes off mysteriously. Instead of treating you as an honored guest, these "friends" toss you into the attic to share a room and become a domestic. Then, adding insult to injury, the husband begins to make aggressive and unwanted advances. It's the 19th century--what's a gal to do? Eighteen, innocent, and wanting to stay that way, Prudence escapes to become a Mail Order Bride.
Wonderfully narrated [AUDIO] by C.J. McAllister, the story comes alive as a surprise package delivery at the railroad station completely changes the character of the adventure and Pru discovers the innate kindness of strangers as she progresses towards her HEA [Happily Ever After]. Both male and female voices have their own character and uniqueness and the male side of the story has its own quirks involving an unusual bequest. Charming and delightful.

My second book by this author and a much more enjoyable read. Prudence the damsel in distress and Austen the man who always assumes the worst.
Prudence has had a string of bad luck. Her parents were murdered, her brother ran off and left her with family friends that turned out not to be friends at all. Now she has taken her last chance at a happy life, as a mail order bride to Austen. BUT... just as she's leaving town, a strange man hands her a baby.
Austen is handsome, and well to do, and leads a rakish-devil-may-care existence. BUT... his uncle has made a contingency to his will that he must marry in 2 months. Rather than put effort into wining and dining someone in an area where there are few women to begin with, he sends away for an 'insta-bride'.
When they meet, he immediately makes judgment on her because of the baby without stopping to listen. But don't worry, it gets better.
It's a sweet getting to know you story with low angst. Some misunderstandings that are kinda humorous. Thank goodness for Austen's brother the preacher and his ability to talk reason to them both.
Prudence's parents died, leaving her an orphan with an employer who openly leered at her and told her in no uncertain terms what he was going to do with her. She needed to run, so she contacted the mail order bride company and headed out west to meet her new husband. Austin Alwin finds himself in his own predicament. His uncle died and his will states that Austin has to be married within a few weeks or he'll lose the only home he's ever known. He gives his consent to marry Prudence, but with the condition that she doesn't have a child. Prudence had no children, but her brother handed her his son to raise because he couldn't. When Prudence arrives at Austin's, his biggest fear has come true. At first, he's angry, hurt and feels manipulated, but when Prudence tries to explain about the baby, he shuts her out. The ending is so sweet and the reader can't help but fall in love with all three of them. C.J. McAllister did a wonderful job with the narration. With a well-modulated, dynamic voice, he brings each character to life.
I loved this Mail Order Bride Book! Prudence Fairchild finds herself is a very bad situation and being a mailorder bride seems like the perfect solution. Austin Alwin also finds himself in a difficult situation. He must marry quickly or he will lose the ranch he inherited from his Uncle. A mail order bride seems the best solution but he has one requirement. His bride must have no children. When Prudence shows up with a baby Austin must make a decision. Will he marry Prudence or does he have time to find a suitable replacement? I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title. A young girl, orphaned and left in supposed safe hands, find that the husband in the house as nefarious designs on her. Her escape and consequently the taking charge of her nephew, may have put her safety in jeopardy. It must have taken courage for gentlee women to cross a continent, in times when traveling unescorted was frowned upon. However, many were escaping unsuitable situations, praying that what they were heading to would be better. With a shortage of "God fearing" women, a man really didn't know what would land on his doorstep, when asked a bride to join him.
Minding Benji by Sandra E Sinclair is a short mail order bride romance. It is well written, with misconceptions, misunderstandings, surprises, tempers and forgiveness. The story line is good, the characters are developed and the story moves right along. I was able to finish in a couple of hours. Once I picked it up, I didn’t want to put it down. Once again Sandra Sinclair didn’t disappoint. I would most definitely recommend reading this book. I did receive an ARC but voluntarily read and gave my honest and fair review.
As this series progress you see repeated towns people from other books and that is nice. You don’t have to read these in order as they are stand alone, but like I stated before you get to know the town and it’s people by reading the others. This story was nice it didn’t loose me anywhere with stalled out storylines. The ending was a bit rushed but it was still good.
The story is so sweet. Of course, there are ups and downs, but in the end it all works out, which I love in a book. I've just recently discovered books by this author and will be looking for more.
The narration was acceptable.
I requested this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
I enjoyed this book Austin is flawed and Prudence is alone in the world and terrified of what will become of her. How the author takes that a makes into an amazing story is great reading
Well the author achieved her goal by writing "Minding Benji" I laughed ,cried extra by reading this book. I look forward to more books from that Author!!!!!!!
Lots of emotions happened with me while reading this book. Ups and downs, twist and turns, anger and delight are some experiences I had. This story flowed really nicely and not forced. The characters are relatable and you felt you were apart of the story.
Prudence needs to escape a not so good situation, she finds it in an ad. She gets it and takes off. But she also gets a nephew she wasn't expecting. Her extended is surprised but finally comes around
Excellent read! Family obligations, loss of a loved one, and new relationships are dealt with in this clean romance. I would recommend highly for all :)
I LOVED this book and couldn’t bring myself to put it down! Mail order bride? Check. Semi-secret baby? Check. Hot headed, relatable male? Hahaha check!!! This was such a fun read for me that had me reading “just one more chapter”. Definitely recommend!
In this enjoyable mail order bride story, Prudence turns to arranged marriage to escape an aggressive lascivious employer and travels West to meet Austen, who has to marry to keep his home.
