Grace hasn’t had the best life lately. The restaurant she opened with a friend to showcase her chef skills has finally folded and her serially-wed, flaky mother has just been left by her latest husband, once again spewing all the evils of the male species to Grace. When Grace receives a letter offering her two weeks at a resort in Alaska it seems like a good time to get away. Little does she realize there will be some big surprises when she arrives. Not only does she come face to face with a man from her past she's worked hard to forget and is mortified to see again, but everything she always thought she knew about her biological father is as far from the truth as the stars in the Alaskan sky are from the majestic mountains.

The advance copy of this book I read is my first by this author, and I’m so glad I found her! I loved everything about this book and can’t wait to read the next books in the series! Although this is a standalone and Connor and Grace get their happily ever after, it’s clear there’s still some unfinished business for an important secondary character, and I really want to meet Grace’s sisters. Along with a great plot and a well written and professionally edited story, the scenery is picturesque, the island town is charming and the supporting characters are unique, a little quirky, and a lot loveable. This is a setting a reader can return to time and again, and it will feel like coming home but with new delights yet to be discovered.

Grace and Connor were both dynamic, complex, realistic characters that I couldn’t help. but love, and their story had me hooked from the first page to the last. Due to a past misunderstanding, Grace is adversarial towards Connor, which really has him confused. His recollection is much different and, in fact, Connor credits Grace with being a pivotal influence in his life. They’ve both had some challenges in their childhoods, but it has effected them very differently. Where Connor has realized he can’t control things and is content to go where life takes him, Grace develops a plan and sticks with it, even to the own detriment. This makes for some conflict in their developing relationship, and along with all the shocking surprises that shake the very foundation of her life, it’s a lot for Grace to deal with. But Connor is always by her side, listening and supporting Grace in his calm, unflappable way. Their relationship is sweet in spite of challenges and has a lot of chemistry in spite of no intimate details. They manage to learn and grow on their own while still supporting the other and are so much better as a couple than individually. Theirs is a hopeful, authentic, unique, inspiring story that you won’t want to miss!

I received a free, advanced copy of this book form the author. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Some lies are told out of maliciousness, wanting to hurt. Some to avoid hurting someone else. And others out of cowardliness. Derek Wakefield's lie is the latter. After surviving leukemia, he wants to get to know his 3 daughters and hired a PI to find them. He has always lived in Aurora, Alaska, on Polaris Island. Northern Light Retreats was started by his father in the 1950's for running fishing trips, but Derek had expanded and refined it, becoming the main source of the island's economy. When the PI locates his middle daughter, Grace Cooper, he has no idea what lies her mother had told her. One day his wife and baby daughter were there and the next they were gone. He has his lawyer write a letter with an offer for 2 weeks all expensive paid vacation at the Northern Lights Retreat, set up by her recently deceased father. He lies because he is afraid she will not come to meet him.

Grace Cooper, was lied to by her mother, her whole life. She was told that her father was abusive and dead. She was never even told his name. She should have had a clue, when she witnessed throughout her life, that her mother went from one man to the next, never faithful to her husbands or they to her. Nevertheless, she managed to graduated from culinary school, worked her way through restaurants, until she open her own, A Touch of Grace, with a classmate. Unfortunately, after 3 years, it failed, as so many restaurants do. At a crossroad, she decides to go Alaska. Right off the boat, she runs into a man from her past, Connor Reed, with whom she had worked on an organic farm one summer. Due to a misunderstanding, she was hurt by him and he is clueless why, but unlikely in these kinds of stories, they actual talk it out. Will she allow her father the same curtesy, when he finally reveals his true identity? Can she forgo her dream of running a restaurant in NYC and trade it in for running the restaurant in the family retreat, with her new found family and a man she can trust and love?

The author weaves a lovely story about how people who come from dysfunctional families, can still succeed in life and love, when they learn forgiveness and find the right person to share their life. The characters are appealing, the town folk charmingly quirky and the scenery artfully described.

Written in the Stars is the first book in the Northern Lights Romance trilogy by Noelle Fox. With her restaurant’s failure fresh on her mind, Grace Cooper seems to be at a turning point with nowhere to turn. Until she gets a deathbed letter from the father she thought was already dead. It was her father’s dying wish and offer of a free vacation at an Alaskan island resort. Desperate for rejuvenation, Grace jumps at the chance to relax, renew herself and learn about the father she never knew. That last thing she expected to do was run into Connor Reed, a man from her past who humiliated her. Connor has no idea why Grace doesn’t like him but her memory has been the drive force that turned his life around. He is determined to discover why she hates him so. As secrets and truths are revealed, can Grace and Connor learn to trust on only each other but themselves?
Written in the Stars is a fast paced, sweet romance. There’s moments of laughter and banter. Moments of drama and tension. I enjoyed Grace and Connor’s story. It was complex with real human shortcomings and flaws with vulnerabilities and touching moments. I eagerly read as the truth unfolded and yet I didn’t want it to end. I also enjoyed the storyline with Grace and her father and the truth behind his absence from her life. I read reviews that complained the story was “open ended” and while it is a trilogy, Grace and Connor’s story is well rounded and I didn’t feel that the author left it open at all. Readers will most likely see more of Grace and Connor in the rest of the trilogy; but their romance was wrapped up pretty well. I thoroughly enjoyed Written in the Stars and I look forward to reading the rest of the trilogy. If you enjoy second chance romance, I highly recommend Written in the Stars.

Written in the Stars is available in paperback and eBook.

Written in the Stars - I contacted the author and received this story, lucky me! There's a Prologue, which is funny and sets up the pace for the rest of the story, as well as the topics of two more books in this new series. This is a well written, well thought out story with some likable, caring characters that entertain continuously. I steady belly laughed my way through this humor filled, but with some drama - not hysterics, drama - story of a lost father, lost daughter, lost love, lost chance, etc.; it has it all, including romance and some magic.

Alaska is a wonderful character all on her own. I had a wonderful day reading both Blame it on Mistletoe and Written; sadly, I don't have any more Fox books in my library, sob. 5*

Blame it on Mistletoe - This is my first book by this author and I loved it. While it was sad that the wife and son lost their Marine to death, the book was filled with humor, joy and pleasant surprises. This well edited, well written and well thought out story keeps the reader immersed in the pages, which quickly end too soon. The characters are likable, realistic and don't have any of the stupid tendencies givens so freely with Indie writers.

There were a few kinks and twists in the story, but nothing mean, just caring and love. There was some sexual tension but not the-in-your-face-continuously type and no vulgar language. A story that can be read by all ages. This town of Christmas was magical for a mom and her son. 5*

WRITTEN IN THE STARS is the first book in the Northern Lights Romance series. Though each centers on one couple, it will be best if you read them in the order of release.

Written in the Stars is full of wonderful surprises, sweet characters, and humor. I loved the town and the people. I would want to visit here repeatedly. The street and shop names were so fanciful that I actually wanted to open my own shop. Would you visit Capricorn Charms? (I love to make my own jewelry.)

I loved that nothing was “easy.” Grace had real emotions – anger, distrust, and hope – in degrees that I found to be believable. I liked the communication that was encouraged between Grace, Connor, and her father. Communication is the key that keeps any relationship moving on a smooth course.

The book is beautifully written. There is a bit of action, sweet romance, and family drama that was touching and emotionally promising. This is the first book that I have read from Noelle Fox. I don’t want it to be my last. I would love to find out about Grace’s sisters and her reaction to finding out she has them!

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Written in the Stars: A Sweet Island Resort Romance Series Set in Alaska (A Northern Lights Romance Book 1) by Noelle Fox
Stars out with Grace and she's just sold her restaurant an is at odds with what to do next when she sees the letter from the week before.
A letter from a lawyer who under her dead father's wish wanted her to visit the resort he had made in Alaska, all expenses paid for a few weeks.
Story is also following Derek, Grace's dad and he's never been in her life but wants to get to know her and her other sisters....
Grace had heard a lot of things from her mother but as time goes on she really doubts anything she ever told her.
Like that she meets a man she had once worked with in CO, at the resort but she has to explain to him what really happened. He was in a bad time of her life and he needs to tell her, no hard feelings...
Love the events that take place, locations and all things relating to beauty and nature. Love also the food as she's a chef and her dad wants to persuade her to stay there and run the kitchen at the lodge...
Lots of scary moments in the wild....
Excerpt from next book in the series in included.
Can't wait to read the next...

The Stars Were Written, By Tex on January 12, 2018

(Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of the book and decided to provide my honest review, which I have.) Written in the Stars by Noelle Fox is a wonderful contemporary romance with humor, surprises, and wonder that creates an enjoyable quick read. The primary reason the main character came to the island after some fits and starts end on a positive note. This has to do with the very important secondary and tertiary relationships. There is an important re-uniting of the main character with the secondary and tertiary characters from the past fraught with misunderstandings. Once these characters begin to spend time together with a clean slate they find forgiveness, friendship and then love. Written in the Stars is a story of positivity and what can result because of the belief in love. Also, many kudos to the author for her writing prose which lent a lot to the readability to the storyline. My RECOMMENDATION: If you want a little love with chuckles, read Written in the Stars. You will not be disappointed. –Tex.

Grace, Connor and her father Derek

Grace could never have thought that the day she was having could get any worse. Then her mother Katherine called! Same story different day! Her latest husband wanted a divorce! Grace wasn't sure she could handle her mom after just selling her dream restaurant "A Touch of Grace" after only three years. What happens next? She knocks over her mail and finds the letter she thought was a joke. She decides to contact the attorney named and after talking with him, realizes it's not a hoax and decides to go on the vacation! The father she thought was dead all these years, wasn't, or hadn't been, but is now? She was confused, but, hey she never knew him and she really needed some time away before starting over. You will really like this story by Noelle Fox! I didn't want to put it down and then I was at the end and wanted more! 👍

To preface this book review I must first say I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

That said, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this book. What seemed to be a corny premise and with expectation of a corny ending was actually a delightful read. The book was a delightful journey with twists and turns, ups and downs, surprises and delights. Nothing feels cliche or trite, the emotions feel real and every pay off feels earned even the happily ever after. Nothing is ever easy or taken for granted and as a result the book and is character allowed to be real, to take an emotional journey that is heart-felt and touching.

I truly enjoyed this book and will definitely presume the authors other books!

This is my first book to read by Noelle Fox, but it definitely won’t be my last. I loved the start to her Northern Lights trilogy and I’ve already purchased books two and three. Written in the Stars is the story of Grace and Connor being reunited after seven years. He turned down her proposition back then, so she wasn’t happy to see him on the island, lol. I loved the story of how Derek has three daughters and he has his lawyer send each of them a letter telling about a two week all expenses paid vacation at his retreat. Will the other two react the way Grace did when they find out their father is actually very much alive? Grab your copy and get ready to want to go on an Alaskan adventure.

Each individual has to follow their own star (destiny).

Grace has followed her star but has found that she might be a shooting star. She had her dream when everything went belly up. Her major goal in life to own her own restaurant and be the head chef has been eclipsed. Her mother who is in yet another crisis of her own is no solance. A letter from an attorney in Alaska has informed her that her father's dying wish was to give her a two-week all expense vacation on his island resort off Prince William Island. Her mother had told her that her father had died years ago. She had lied because it was convenient for her purposes. Can Grace Regan her fallen star?

Written In The Stars by Noelle Fox
Grace has received a letter from a solicitor saying her father had died and left her a two week holiday on Polaris, a lovely island in Alaska. The ferry had just landed and waiting to greet her was Derek Wakefield, the owner. But also right beside him was Connor Reed, from a time in her past she'd rather forget!
This was an enjoyable story about Grace Cooper, a chef who's restaurant had begun with real promise but went steadily downhill until there was no choice except to close. She needed to recover and this holiday opportunity had come at a perfect time.

I absolutely love this author. I don’t think that I’ve read a single piece of her work that hasn’t held me captive. This story definitely holds up to that standard. It takes place in a small town in Alaska. The descriptions were so vivid you got a sense of the locale and feel of the town. I liked how these people handled their challenging family issues and tried to work everything out. The heroine had a lot of surprises when she got to Alaska; least of which was finding love.

As a whole, this was an enjoyable read with a mixture of heart-wrenching moments, surprises and romance that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

The premise of this book was very interesting. A man trying to right the wrongs of his past with his three children that don’t know anything about him. There are three books in this series and each book represents one daughter’s story. This is the middle daughter’s story even though it is book 1 of the trilogy.

The book was a quick read and while enjoyable I think it could have been better. Other than the episode while whale watching there wasn’t much going on besides her roaming around town and hanging out with the love interest.

I’m going book 2 is better.

I loved this book. The town where Grace was from is a town not to far away from where I live. It was cool to see that. I liked all the characters they were likeable and believable. The story line was smooth and flowed. It drew me in right away and once I started reading it I didn't want to put it down. I will definitely be looking out for other books in this series and also anything else Noelle Fox wrote. GRET JOB! GREAT READ!

This is a great romantic book suitable for most ages with no exotic sex scenes. Grace Cooper receives an invitation for an all expense paid vacation from her dying father. Grace had lost her restaurant so thought it was a great time to go to Alaska.

There she meets Connor Reed with whom she had a bad experience in the past. She also learns about her father and family secrets. I recommend this as a book for most ages. I won it from Goodreads in their giveaway contest.

Sweet, clean, second chance romance

A quick and easy read with a beautifully described Alaskan town for a backdrop. The "two broken souls becoming the best versions of themselves" story, but the author made me invest in these characters. Like a cozy mystery, the sex isn't on the page, but I'm cool with that. And also like a cozy, there's a whole resort town filled with characters I look forward to seeing in the next two stories.

After receiving a letter from a father she thought was dead, Grace goes to Polaris Island and the Northern Lights Retreat. While there she runs into Connor, someone she knew years ago. When she learns the truth about her father, will she leave Polaris Island or can Connor convince her to stay. I love reading Connor and Grace's story, and can't wait to read the other stories in the series.

3.5 Stars because I just couldn’t get past Derek’s selfishness. I was confused on if we were to follow the relationship build up between Grace and Connor or Grace and Derek. Maybe I just wasn’t in the right mind space to really enjoy this book? I really loved the blue and it sounded so good but just didn’t hold my interest like I had hoped.

This is a delightful easy read and enjoyable story. It's full of fun, quirky and loveable characters. Set in a great small town with majestic mountains and Alaskan stars. I enjoyed reading and following as Grace and Conner have a second chance at romance. The story is well written and I enjoyed to the last page. I can't wait to read the next books in the series.

This is the first in a new series by Ms. Fox and the first book I’ve read penned by her. It was different than I thought it would be, but not in a bad way. This is a roller coaster of an emotional novel. It’s also very sweet. It's not a YA novel, but I’d trust a mature 16 year old or older to be able to handle reading it.

I was given an ARC copy for a honest review.

meh

The plot and characters had the potential for a charming romance, but as is often the case, instead of polishing the core elements into a good and cohesive story, the author chose to pile on superfluous drama to pad the plot and distract from the choppy transitions. As it was, the emotional intensity simply wasn’t there.

It was decent. Honestly a bit hard for me to get through as the characters were flat and the whole idea of it was a little silly. I didn't feel invested in any of it and seeing as it was so short the author really didn't have time to build the characters or make the plot more interesting.
