Hale Street #8

Only Yours: A Hale Street Story

Rate this book
Only Yours is part of the Hale Street Series and can be read a stand alone novel.

She can handle anything…

Daisy Calloway has life handled. As the manager of one of Nashville’s premiere hotels, Daisy expertly maneuvers a warring staff, an anxious boss (who also happens to be her ex-fiance), and a worried sister with the snap of her fingers. The only one she can’t handle is Hudson Bennett, the southern charmer with a sharp mind and a mouth made for sin. The sexy, intelligent, and passionate man is everything she's ever wanted – and everything she's afraid to have.

Until him…

Hudson knows he shouldn’t want Daisy the way he does. But her hands-off attitude is definitely at odds with the way she looks at him, the way she talks to him, and that one night he spent in her bed. It’s the night he can’t forget. She’s the only woman he doesn’t want to forget.

Losing her heart was never the hardest part…

Giving in to Hudson’s charm is like stepping under a warm waterfall. Easy, powerful, hot. The hard part? Confronting her past to find out what she really wants. Because what she really wants is Hudson and having him could mean losing everything.

I read the first three books in this series and always wondered what happened to Daisy. I felt sorry for her the first time we met her because it seemed she was being pushed in a direction she really didn’t want to go. Subsequent events bore this out. Although a lot of people wanted to blame her, I thought she showed a lot of guts to go against the flow – a little late maybe, but better late than never. I loved Daisy and Hudson’s story and enjoyed getting to know them both a little better. I’m not going to give a synopsis of the story because I really think you need to read it to appreciate it. Daisy is a complex contradiction. She really, really wants to fit in but doesn’t know how. I really love how she grew throughout the story and Hudson was one of the main reasons for this. We all need a Hudson in our lives. He was able to love and support Daisy while she sorted through her insecurities. I also think this story points out that nobody else knows us completely and don’t really know what we are and aren’t capable of. I don’t care how helpful they are trying to be. If some of the secondary characters had just minded their own business, Daisy might not have agonized quite so much getting there - but then it would be a different story and I wouldn’t want to change a thing. This was a very emotional read for me and I read the ending with tears in my eyes. (Don’t worry. They were happy tears.) It was nice seeing some of the characters from the previous stories and I look forward to the next story in the Hale St. series.

I received a copy of this book and it is my pleasure to give an honest and voluntary review.

This is the first book I have read from Emily Leigh although I have read several of the other Hale Street books. The main characters in this book, Daisy and Hudson, are secondary characters in other books in the series. I had pictured Daisy as a completely put together strong business woman but as this book progresses, she definitely has some insecurities about belonging to work through. Hudson is a sweet, flirty, and handsome lawyer with many friends on Hale Street but he only has eyes for Daisy.

Ms Leigh has developed a depth to these characters that tugged on my heartstrings and brought tears to my eyes. I love the Hale Street setting on this entire series and it is nice to see that the entire cast of characters is carried on throughout the series. It was nice to get to know a couple of the other characters from Hale Street (Frank, Tilly, and John Sinclair) a bit better in this book too. I enjoyed this story and was surprised by some of the twists and turns that it took getting to the HEA.

I received an ARC of this book and have voluntarily provided an honest review.

This is the first book by Ms Leigh that I got my hands on , and I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially since it’s part of a series I had not read. I should not have worried.
I really enjoyed the story, and the main characters Daisyand Hudson. While others will give you a summary of plot, I will go a different way.
It’s a story about overcoming insecurities. About how panic attacks can affect a person and the mechanisms someone like Daisy employs to overcome them. It’s a story about finding someone that “gets you”, loves you for whom you are , supports you and helps you navigate through the obstacles one finds in life.
At times it’s heartbreaking but at others heartwarming while reminding us how love can in fact overcome everything.
Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions.

Daisy, the Ice Princess, and the Nick name is true. Hudson, Lawyer Boy, wants to help everyone. He has loved her for awhile but knows she will need time, especially since she left Burke standing at the alter. Even Frank mellows out in this story. I am enjoying the couples from Hale Street.

Finally

If you have been waiting for Daisys story than this is it. While it's a good book I just couldn't get into it for some reason. It seemed off. Sorry I tried to like it.
