When sexier-than-hell biker, Jace Savage, shows up at Piper Reece's hospital for a gunshot wound, she knows he's trouble. Especially when the Feds show up to question him. But, there's an undeniable attraction between the two and soon she finds herself helping the bad boy biker, who knows just how to repay her.
**Player is a full-length novella romance with NO cheating, NO cliffhanger & a guaranteed happy ending.
You probably guessed that already due to my low rating, and don’t worry, I am gonna tell you why I did not find this book any good, just so you can’t call me a total bitch. Fair is fair, and all.
- The writing style was my first big nope. There were so many POV’s and it literally changed from one sentence to the next. It was messy.
Oh and some of the sentences made me cringe. See below..
“(The arousal that flushed her face left a sweet scent of femininity on his lips" from "Savage (MC Biker Romance)" by Lee Mae, A. Hunter, Melody Simmons)
That’s kinda weird, right? Idk, I just can’t.
- It’s a biker (MC) book. ( Hold your horses, I live and breathe for biker books) That was not my issue. My issue was at 21 % into the book Jace ( main character and biker) tells Piper ( the other main character and nurse ) club business. And not only the vague mysteries kind. Nope! Flat- out tells the woman stuff that can implement the entire club! He has known her for like.. 10 minutes! I understand this is a rather short book, but you don’t break number one rule of MC club! Club business is for members only!
- Insta-love. I am not against insta-love, I do like it occasionally, but it has to be executed right. I cannot say that this was.
- I felt no connection to any of the characters. They weren’t exciting. I didn’t feel the need to KNOW what happened to them. I didn’t wanna be in their heads. Probably why it took me a long time to finish the book.
-Now everything wasn’t completely terrible. The plot truly have something going there, but I personally needed a bit more. And a plot can’t hold a book up, if everything else is lacking, and especially if the plot itself wasn’t 100% spot on! And I am sad to say it did lack. It lacked a lot.

Between 1 and 2 stars, so I'm being generous and rounding up. It's an interesting premise, but there was quite a lot lost in the execution. So here goes, let's touch on some highlights:
-Insta-love. Not just insta-love, but insta-"I'm throwing away my entire life because of some vague attraction and connection with this person I just met." Within sentences (at least how it feels), Jace is telling her club business (which any reader of biker romances knows is a no-go) and Piper is pretty much throwing away her career to shelter him. The insta-love I can deal with. Not my favorite, but I can deal. But this one? Not so much.
- Piper, seriously. No nurse would be asking those questions. And to steal prescription meds for him? And serious painkiller meds at that??? Yeah, that's not just risking her job. That's risking her whole career.
- The characters overall, though. The leads just felt flat. Never really connected to them, and the short length didn't help. And the side characters too. So many of them, and with so many conflicting motives. In a shorter work like this, it just felt like a whirlwind. And to add that some of them were just annoying? Yeah, not fun. Like Sterling, Piper's sister - just wanted to smack her. First of all, bringing all the cops in after her sister explained everything. And second, charging in after them, unarmed, into the exact situation that had her so worried about her sister in the first place. I mean, what's the logic? "My sister's in there and I'm so worried about her getting hurt that I've brought down all these trained, armed professionals, whom I'm now going to follow directly into the danger." But I guess if her sister's hiding a material witness/potential suspect and stealing meds for him... maybe stupid decisions are a family trait.
- Speaking of those numerous characters... it wasn't just that there were so many characters. We got to hear all of them too! Seriously, we had alternating perspectives of about a half-dozen characters. And they'd switch perspectives from sentence to sentence. Some scenes were honestly hard to track whose thoughts we were actually reading!
- Some of the writing was just awkward. Like the lusty/steamy scenes had some really weird turns of phrase.
- On the positive side, it did keep my attention and it was a quick read. Plus, a free find on Kindle.
3rd person omniscient (enough different POVs, I'm not even calling it alternating - it's omniscient and we'll leave it at that). No cheating or OW/OM/love triangle drama. Fast paced, but could be confusing with all the different POVs. Never really connected with the leads (or any of the other characters). HEA and no cliffhangers.
Would I read more by this author? Probably not. Too many other authors I want to read first.
There was definitely an interesting idea, but it felt rushed and I kind of wanted there to be a time skip where the MCs went into witness protection or something for a couple of years and had no idea how the other was. (Maybe throw inna secret pregnancy so dude has more to lose if he fails?)
They seemed to fall in love very quickly and she never really had a good reason to help him in the first place. Plus all his thoughts of her being cracked or desperate seemed to stop just before they both decided what they had was the real deal even though it had only been like a week. More time needed to be devoted to them on the run, but in a mutual way not a kidnap for protection or Stockholm syndrome-like way.
SHE WAS HYPNOTISED BY THOSE DAMN HORMONES!!! This is also a problem because these types of romance make it seem like we, as a species are ruled by our hormones and therefore are unable to even cope when a hot so-and-so walks by. It’s really not a good look (especially for women. It makes it seem like we can’t think past our who-hars)
Also why were the nurses giving out patient information to people who don’t show badges or warrants. Legally a nurse cannot give out room numbers to anyone but family. And unless the patient agrees to make a police statement they can refuse them entry.
I also half expected Patty to turn on Alec given his recent behavioural change. I mean dude was inches away from abusive given his rage and alcohol issues.
And another thing besides fleshing out the story more there’s needs to be some sort of Epilogue. You can’t just end with on arrest they were entire organisations involved surely not everything would be so neat for out MCs quite yet. Another time skip here would show them moving onto a normal life maybe? House, marriage & kids? And maybe even a promotion to a private hospital for our leading lady who damn deserved it too.
I really liked this motorcycle club romance between Jace and piper and Jace is injured and piper is a nurse and doesn’t go on dates but cares about her career and Jace is doing a job for Alec and something bad happened and Jace is there scapegoat and so piper looks after and hides Jace from the agents and his MC club who is after him. Love that piper is close with her sister sterling. Jace and piper talk about jades dad and how he died and I love the spicy scenes between Jace and piper. And love that Jace and piper get there happy ending with Alec being arrested for a lot of stuff and I liked that this book had multiple POVs and I liked that Jace is close with some of the guys in the MC and not a fan of Alec or Ron. But overall I really enjoyed this MC romance and love some of the side characters and I like piper friendship with Carrie who is also a nurse and this was a quick spicy MC romance

Jayce is wanted by criminals and even those he’s considered his family. Piper is torn by emotions and the willingness to do whats right. This is a short but steamy romance and will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.
I read this book via the google play app. This was a first read for me from this author. While this story was highly entertaining, I have to admit, having it read by google AI was definitely off-putting. There were certain words throughout the story that were missed throughout and the story would’ve benefited more with feelings put into the words as well. I daresay some of the story’s meaning may not have come across to the reader even, due to the lack of emotion portrayed in words. I recommend this book for adult and mature audiences.
(Jace & Piper): insta romance. When bad boy biker Jace shows up to the hospital with a gunshot, Piper is the nurse who cares for him. They have an instant connection and a strong chemistry. Jace is in big trouble with his MC and he needs to lay low so Piper opens her home to him. There's a lot of action and drama in the story but a couple of things that would not even make sense in real life. Other than that the story is ok.
This book was so unreal. First, noisy nurse. There has never been a nurse asking those kinds of questions to a patient. Second, Jace told a person on the outside all of the club's business. A true brother keeps club business from their old lady so I know an outsider wouldn't know. Third, too many people and they all have their own agendas.
Great plot, how ever the ending could of been better i thought. As it is all the MC were under the radar but only the Pres "Alec" got arrested. Love the love interest, how ever that could of been so much more.. Also lack of an epilogue on this one. But over all i would read it again and further series.
Story was very short too much. Smut seemed better suited as a story and a hustler magazine. Then a story bought on Amazon. No, thanks if I could give it zero stars I would.
Not the best of Reeds mostly smut not worth your time. The story deserves a hustler magazine instead of Amazon behind it.
I didn't even get to the spicy scenes. I got 68 pages in and couldn't even be bothered reading the last 24. Out of nowhere, they're suddenly in love without any real build up to it. Almost forcing as many things in there as they can. I get it's a short book. A short book means that sometimes you can't put everything in.
I really enjoyed this book. A biker bad boy with a good heart who finds love unexpectedly. The book wasn't too long and got all the character perspectives. Definitely recommend it to mc romance lovers.
Join a dirty talking biker and smart BBW nurse as they get out of trouble and get into bed. Enjoy a few laughs as fate seems intent on stopping them from hitting the sheets.
This was an ok read. Good plot and storyline idea. Just too many diff pov during a chapter, confusing who was who. Not bad fpr a quick read, just the pov thing was off, for me
This was a great love story It ended slightly unfinished but the characters Jace and Piper were well developed and the plot was well written. I just wish there was a little bit more to the story it kind of leaves you hanging.
Thank goodness this was free because I would have been pissed if I paid for this...there wasn't enough character development to make this story good. The concept was interesting enough..the execution was poor.
This is a good read for a lazy day. It's a stand alone and can bang it out in a couple of hours. The main characters have chemistry and the story is developed enough that the story keeps you interested.
This is a short read but I don't think that means the story needs to be rushed so much that it is unbelievable. There was nothing wrong with the characters and the premise but it could have been told better or split into other books like many other authors do.
I could not for the life of me, finish this book.. I tried people, I really, really tried!! I always finish my books, especially shorts. This book had too much going on for such a short book, it had so many pov's it just got confusing. 1/10 do not recommend.
Felt like the storyline was rushed and wasn't too detailed. Didn't have a lot of character build up. I listened to it as an audiobook and the narrator was very monotone, no excitement.
This story captures your attention right away the characters are very relatable. Than at the end everything is thrown in at once and its over when it had a nice flow before that.
It was good, a bit rushed, the whole relationship between piper and savage could have been developed a little more but otherwise it was a good story. I would recommend it to others. It's worth the read.
