This "strategy guide" is geared towards the first two Pokemon games, Red and Blue. This could have been a four or five star rating if I had read this back when I was ten and just getting into the games. There are some helpful hints for new players. But there are also hints that make no sense. Why do I need Max Repels when fighting the Elite Four? The writing is entirely geared towards a young (young young young) audience and sometimes you want to slap the author as he will go off on tirades about nothing pertaining to the subject - supposedly to try to make the book entertaining to that younger audience. Frankly, even as a kid this would have annoyed me. If you know someone just getting into the game and they start with one of the original games this book cannot hurt to have. However buying a legit strategy guide would be better in my opinion.

yes i actuallyy read this book. i learned that when this book was written it was during the red/blue ages
