A young girl is raped and murdered near the Salt Ponds in Key West Florida. A young lawyer is appointed to represent the accused. What follows is a twisted, demented tale of police corruption and cover-up.
Selfie is another page turner that I could not put down. As I finished the book early into a return flight from Key West to Boston, a woman sitting next to me began asking me about it, finding the title and cover interesting. I handed her the book and told her I was done with it and that I hope that she'd find it as entertaining as I did. As we exited the plane some 2 1/2 hours later, she turned to me and said that she wished the flight was longer so she could keep reading it because she, too, could not put it down.
The book is actually set in Key West and revolves around a young lawyer who is defending a man who has been accused of the rape and murder of a young girl. They face an uphill battle as evidence continues to mount, through this twisted, demented tale of police corruption and cover-up.
You can't go wrong with any of Rusty Hodgdon's books! He weaves his mysteries in a smooth, easy to read writing style that keeps you turning the pages.
Combination whodunit and legal thriller, this well-written page-turner has an interesting cast of Keys characters with just enough references to local hangouts to make anyone who's ever been to Key West feel right at home. A delightful read, it held my attention till the very end.
