Anything is possible for the women in apartment 7B.
Even the best kept secrets only last so long.
Life comes easy to Roan Westfield—big man on campus, college football star, girl magnet, and family wealth too—until a silly, beautiful, enchanting cheerleader takes a misstep into his lap at a citywide pep rally and changes the course of his life forever. Damn fate. In hindsight, he should have let her take the fall. His heart still hasn’t recovered from the deep ruts Presley left in her wake.
Goal-oriented Presley Adams is determined to move past her meager upbringing, but life isn’t always easy on her. While she’s had her fair share of struggles, she generally manages to land on her feet, until an intricate tumbling pass goes askew and she winds up wrapped around the gorgeous upperclassman football star. She should have ignored how nicely he cushioned her fall, because the only thing Roan manages to do is leave her devastated and alone to pick up the pieces of her life.
Secrets have a way of changing the rules. When California calls, both answer but for very different reason. Now, on a collision course with destiny, can Roan dig deep to find the answers he needs or will the past destroy his one true chance at happiness?
Roan is a steamy standalone contemporary romance novel. No cheating. No cliffhangers. HEA.
A Q&A with the authors:
Q – Where did you get the idea for the Hollywood Binge series?
Julia: I love pure romance. Writing romance without a mystery or paranormal element is my heart. I think Hollywood with all its glitz and glam is exciting, but more than just exciting, Hollywood is people. It’s dreams and disappointments wrapped up with dirty, perfect, imperfect, lovely, and disgusting life.
Rylie: Well said, Julia. I completely agree. Hollywood is a mindset, a place of dreams and hope, a place for new beginnings and second chances. It’s fast paced, open-minded and thousands of miles away from West Texas.
Q - Julia’s male character is a movie star and Rylie’s is a football player, did you focus on a specific type of career for the guys?
Julia: I love the idea of old Hollywood, but I didn’t want to write about the past, but the present. Bad boys and their toys are exciting and Cam Harris knows how to get into and out of a load of trouble. I didn’t force the career for Cam, he just kind of picked it.
Rylie: What I like about the Hollywood area, no one’s bigger than the area. In LA, sports in general, football in particular aren’t near the live and breathe mind-set like in other places such as Pittsburgh or Dallas. I like Roan getting a taste of being a small fish in a big pond. What’s different for me than Julia, I think I needed Roan’s big attitude lost in the hills of Hollywood. Dark and dreamy is plentiful in Orange County. Not quite so many cheerleaders cheering him on from the sidelines. He’s got to get knocked down a peg or two.
Q – What was the most difficult part of writing about Hollywood?
Julia: There are plenty of preconceived notions about Hollywood and how the other half lives. I’ve found that Hollywood is more than an idea or a cliché. It’s hope and dreams that mix with real life people who are working hard to make their way in the world.
Rylie: Well, Hollywood isn’t West Texas. Getting the vibe down while losing the cliché as Julia pointed out was important. Las Angeles is an eclectic hub of every nationality all packed into one place.
Who doesn't love a second chance romance with a little secret up in a The mix? Roan Westfield has it all, star player on his college football team, looks and money. Girls want him and men what to be him. And then the girl of his dreams just falls in his lap, literally. Presly Adams has worked hard to get where she is and away from her poor upbringing. Life hasn't been easy, but she powers through until the one man she should've never fell for shatters her heart.
Loved this book, it was sweet yet heartbreaking, and definitely had me feeling so many different emotions.
Another pager turner that will have you up reading all night. Can't wait to read more from these two authors.
Roan Westfield is the star football player of his college, and big man on campus. But the day that he catches a cheerleader named Presley, he's done for, and all he wants is to make her his. However, he waits too long, and has to witness her being the girlfriend of another man. He finally mans up the night before he enters the NFL, when he learns that Presley is single, and hunts her down. Presley Adams is bound and determined to rise above her upbringing, but life intervenes, when one night with Roan derails her, as it was the best night of her life, until he leaves her in the dust, to pick up the pieces of her life. Now years later, fate finds Roan in the same city as Presley, and she's freaking out, as she never wanted to see him again. But for Roan, he sees this as a new opportunity to work things out with the girl he never stopped loving. As these two circle each other, will secrets revealed finally put the past to rest, or destroy them a second time around? I absolutely LOVED Roan, especially with the little hint of football in it. (I'm dying waiting for football season). Presley was a great female lead that I totally had her back for, so wanted to junk punch Roan more than once. And while I did have a slight thing for Roan, his inability to communicate caused a lot of problems, so he deserved a bit of torture. Once again, this talented duo wrote an addictive story that I couldn't get enough of, so I devoured it in one sitting. Plus, more secrets made for more f-bomb dropping worthy twists that still has me all jacked up about. Again, the colorful cast of secondaries provided some comic relief in the middle of serious angst, and I was able to laugh through my leaky eyes. Now here's where it a bit dicey for me, (Please understand this is only MY OPINION!), the ending was too rushed for me, after all of my dramatic emotions, I needed a bigger production. With all of that being said, I cannot wait for more from these two, (hopefully in the very near future), and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I love reading a book that can surprise me and leaving me with some feels I can't even describe. This book did it. This book did so much. I fell in love with these character's, and I didn't want it to end.
Roan comes from a very well established family. Which means a lot is expected out of him. Including the way he lives his life and who he has in it. Falling in love with someone from the wrong side of the tracks, isn't a good thing. But from the moment he lays eyes on Presley, he knows she's the one. It doesn't matter where she comes from, as long as he can have her. When lines are crossed and feelings start to run deep, things start to blur and life doesn't look so nice.
Presley is determined to rise above the life she has known. She wants more than she had growing up, and wants to help herself and her family. She would never do anything to jeopardize the future she dreams of. Nor did she think one night with the guy she has always had a crush on, could possibly ruin it all. Or that it would ruin her heart. When she is left broken hearted and alone, she finds reasons to be more determined than ever. Failing at life, is no longer an option.
As fate would have it, they end up in the same city again. Coming face to face, they realize they have a past to sort through and a future to determine if they can have. The stakes are higher. The hurt is deepers. The love stronger.
There is nothing I live reading more, than a book where the person is from the 'wrong' side of the tracks. I love seeing a character overcome every crappy thing life has thrown at them, and end up better and stronger in the end. That is what this book is. Overcoming the odds. Determination at its best. The knowledge that giving up is not an option. Prevailing in all its glory. This story has heart. It has pain. It has it all.
The Hollywood Binge Novels: Roan by Rylie Roberts and Cam by Julia Bright. Roan is a standalone novel. I absolutely love reading Rylie Robert's books and Roan is another sweet romance which I thoroughly enjoyed. Roan is a second chance/secret baby story. It is well written, complicated and compelling. Once I started, I couldn't stop reading. I rooted for Roan and Presley from start to finish. Roan is a pro-bound football player who has secretly had a crush on Presley for many years. Unfortunately, the day he noticed her she started a romance with a real jerk. The day Roan is supposed to leave, he finds out Presley is unattached so he goes looking for her, finds and persuades her. Although their chemistry is off the hook a misunderstanding has Roan leaving Presley the next morning. After Presley agreed to go with, finding he left without her left Presley heartbroken and, little did she know, a little bun in the oven. As second chance love's often go, much time passes u til fate intervenes bringing them back together in not just the same city but hopefully back in each other's arms with all cards finally on the table. I loved reading this story and you will too. Highly recommend and well worth the reader's time.
The Hollywood Binge Novels: Roan by Julia Bright & Rylie Roberts is a standalone novel with the Hollywood/Football theme. Roan is a second chance/ secret baby story that I got to beta read. It is a great read that will keep you turning the pages. Roan Westfield has it all, a Pros bound football career, great looks and a wealthy Family. Only the Family is to controlling and the girl of his dreams is with a major douchebag. Presley Adams is the All-American girl to everyone else but she is determined to get pass her upbringing to be more. She must work to get where she wants to be and this is not always for the best. The twist, personal insecurities of both, and invasion of others in their lives make Roan a story that will keep you involved and turning page after page. The sweet personal exploration will keep you from putting this story down and then the results that find Roan and Presley back in the same town later makes this a Story I loved reading. I think you will enjoy it too, give it a try. Thanks Rylie Roberts & Good Writing
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.
A second chance romance, football star, and a huge secret - it's basically the formula for a fantastic book! I really enjoyed Roan - both he and Presley were great characters and their story was compelling. Their connection was so intense and sexy - it was heartbreaking when they hit a bump in their road to HEA. One of my favorite aspects of the book was that the sex was rooted in strong emotions not just lust, and it was HOT! I also love a male lead who takes responsibility for his actions when things go sideways and Roan does that ten-fold. I give Roan 3.75 out of 5 wine glasses!
This is a standalone novel. Roan has it all, he is rich, sexy, and on track to a professional football career. Presley is from the wrong side of the tracks, and is determined to get past her upbringing. The chemistry between these two is intense, but will insecurities destroy any hope of a relationship? No spoilers, this is a must read you will not be disappointed! This storyline with twists and secrets had me hooked and intrigued from the very beginning. I love this collaboration of author’s, and look forward to reading more from them both.
He's the star on campus second round draft pick, but Roan has had his eye on Presley every since she landed on top of him. He didn't win her at the time now his last night in town he finds out she is single. They both are kind of dumb but get a second chance 7 years later. Cute read.
As the title says... Not my usual flavor for my reads, was pleasantly surprised. If your into second chances, and women with attitude. This is definitely for you.
