Four years ago, Hadley was the princess and alpha female of an strong, respected pack; then, Kyle turned up, killed her father, and demoted her for good measure. In one night, she lost everything. As life has a way to really, really suck sometimes, Kyle also happen to be her fated mate. Although every other member of her old pack had left, to be replaced by new, young members who shun her, Hadley stayed, to take care of her little brother. Finally, he’s turning eighteen, though. It’s time to go.
Kyle has never felt panic clenching his guts the way it does when Hadley says she’s leaving and he can guess why; suddenly, everything makes sense. He’s had his mate under his thumbs for four years, without even knowing it.

So this could have easily been a 3.5 - 4 star read except it missed one major, huge, massive, how the hell was that missed thing....a verbal apology.
Yes, we know Kyle is sorry because we were in his head BUT he never actually said the words to Hadley. Yes, as soon as he realized Hadley was his mate he stopped screwing OW, he stepped up and became a real alpha, he kicked the OW out of the pack, verbally kicked his own ass over and over again, and did search for her BUT once he found her he didn't verbally apologize!!! No "I'm sorry I demoted you, Im sorry I fucked OW for the past 4 years, I'm sorry you came to say goodbye and caught me in a threesome..." nothing...he said it all in his head but never verbally to her! How could that have been missed?? How could the author NOT include THAT pivotal moment??
Hadley could have been a 5 star heroine and she was until the very end. She stayed with the pack after Kyle took over to raise her brother, she distanced herself from Kyle and was completely indifferent to him screwing OW - that knowledge was this books saving grace because had she been pinning over him while he fucked all and I do mean ALL the OW in the pack I would have DNFd this book asap - AND she walked away and DIDNT look back! She wasn't a weeping violet. She was strong.
Her failure, and the ultimate failure for this book is the lack of apology she demanded from Kyle. After they rescued Sophia she immediately jumped into bed with him WITHOUT them talking about what happened over the past 4 years. And then the book ended....
Obviously this book isn't safe and while I liked that Kyle completely changed his ways he didn't completely win me over and Hadley dissapointed me severely. She deserved a huge, crawl on his knees apology and didn't even demand it. In fact she had NO idea that he had even been looking for her!! For all she knew he was still screwing OW!!! Oh, and on another side note..why mention that Hadley is a virgin AND not have Kyle or her bring it up during their first time?? He should have known and he should have made their first time better and sweeter BUT nope...just shoved right in there!
The writing wasn't bad BUT due to the things listed above I can't recommend this book.
. Well love isn't the only thing that blows... this story does too! It was actually really good until it ended so abruptly with no grovel!
Hadley was a young shifter who was her father's luna for the pack after her mother's death. Her father was a shitty alpha and she is understanding when the new Alpha, Kyle kills him in combat. She is ready to take her place in his pack, but he decides (still not clear why) to make her (an alpha female) the bottom of his new pack hierarchy. He does regret this later but doesn't make the effort to change it. Instead... he avoids her, thus never realizing that she is his true mate.
Now this book is nasty. He screws around with lots of women in the 4 frickin' years since he took over the pack. She even catches him in a threesome with one of his brothers when she goes to tell him she is leaving the pack. She had bided her time till her little brother was old enough to leave for college. All the while knowing that Kyle was her mate. It was actually really great reading about her walking away from him and then his coming to recognize what a complete asshat he had been for years. He determines to clean up his act and his pack/town, which he had let devolve into a horrible place to live. Basically, he had been a shittier alpha than her father!
But then when he finally finds her, her strength against him crumbles way to quickly. The whole ending is hijacked by the kidnapping and horrible rape of a friend of Hadley's (I guess her book is next... don't care). All the wonderful remorse Kyle felt and all Hadley's backbone were swept away in the tide of the next couple's story set up.
Sucked!!!
Kyle didn't even grovel. At all!
Safety sucked. on the bright side, it was very short ; )

I liked the book, I liked the setting, the characters, but there were a couple of things that made me give it just three stars.
First of all, it was too short, I felt like there were things that were too rushed, and some things were left kind of unresolved.
If the point was to keep the story short, maybe get rid of other parts and give us a better ending, or making a longer book. This way I just feel like it started great, and ended in a rush.
This had the makings of an absolutely brilliant story, despite being a very fast read. The h was amazing, again even though this was a fast read so not really time to deep dive into character development.
The H was..... the anti-Alpha. Alpha in name only? Whatever. He's a twit. So I was seriously looking forward to the grovel.
SPOILER
There was no grovel. None. 4 years of mental anguish and pain he inflicted on her. This, up until then, terrifically independent and strong female... took this twit with no grovel. Hell, not even an apology. He literally banged every female in the pack. Repeatedly. For YEARS. A threesome on the desk, that she walked in on. And yet she maintained her virginity the entire time. Naturally. She went from Alpha to Omega in a single day, at his command. Annd.... she just rolled over and went for the HEA.
This book was insulting AF, to Sage's readers. This is the book that made me never pick up another of her titles, despite having been an avid fan. The shocking disappointment was.... harsh. Add to that that the lead in for Soph's story was so strong, and Sage never delivered it, so you are on a perma-cliffhanger for yet another story that had serious potential to be amazing. That's TWO stories, ruined.
This second chance story did not quite work for me. I think MS's H's have a real problem saying the words I'm sorry, they feel the remorse, and the guilt, but they honestly don't seem to be able to communicate that to the h.
I’m now unsure what edition I have read, but I admit it fell flat in the end. The heroine was badly hurt by the self-centered and oblivious actions of her mate. She left him for justifiable reasons. He realizes the levels of his own douchery and makes steps to change. The problem I have is that *she never saw it happen* yet somehow she still forgives him and they have the magic sex that is supposed to heal 4 years of her being completely neglected and mistreated in the same pack as her mate? The mate/alpha who used his pack as a personal harem? Yeah...no. She walked out on him like a badass but takes him back the day he finds her. I wish there was a grovel and I wish the heroine had made him work for it like she deserved.

Love Blows is about the heroine Hadley and hero Kyle.
The book is a great start to the Laketown series. the heroine Hadley was the daughter of the previous alpha she is strong and powerful but beaten down by circumstance and just life in general. The hero is the new and current alpha a total show off and sleazeball initially who is a total player until its too late and he loses.
I love books filled with angst and the hero is giving major vibes of that when he can't find his lady love.
This is a really good book and start to this series. i really cannot wait for the next installment.
Frankly i'm fed up with authors who make us invested in their stories and so we hate the male mc with a passion and for good reasons, but then we are let down because the female mc's forgiveness comes easy or there re s really no punishement for it first. I hate that. Men need spanking too. To be fair the book is short and the guy did some growth and recognizes his wrongs to himself, even if he never apologized to her.
This is a cute && quick shifter story. There is a lot packed into it, you get the history of the time, the history of the Main characters (Hadley &a Kyle) as well as a good summer of their friends. I really enjoyed it and would love to read more in this series.
The book was a good read; however, the story or plot could have been a little more detailed and elaborate.
I kept waiting that something would come up where in we would know who is doing what and why but it simply skimmed through the events rather than give an experience to me as a reader as to what exactly took place and why.
Great book, quick read. This book follows the life of Hadley Lewis and her fated mate Kyle Jackson. Kyle becomes Alpha of the Lake town pack by being in the right place at the right time. He likes the title but cares little of what it means until the day that Hadley leaves the pact. The very DAT he finds out that she is his fated mate. Kyle has to make this right. Find out if he is able to win Hadley's heart and her trust. You will not regret your choice. Happy reading.
I got this book from the author for an honest review.
3.5 stars
Kyle is the alpha of the wolf pack. He's busy playing the field and fails to realise what he found 4 years ago - Hadley his fated mate.
Hadley is finally leaving, she wants affection and love but she has no expectations from Kyle - she can't expect him to commit to her and have him resent her. Leaving is the right option for both of them.
Will Kyle change his ways? Will he try to win her back?
I enjoyed Kyle and Hadley's story but there were times I felt the book rushed. Kyle won her over quite quickly which was a shame, I would have liked Kyle to work harder to earn her trust and love back. I liked Kyle, he clicks on quickly upon her departure and I liked the intensity of his longing for his mate. Hadley's feelings towards Kyle in the beginning are unclear. You only get a glimpse of her feelings towards him - a deeper longing for her mate would have helped form a stronger connection between them.
This was a short, sweet read and I enjoyed it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Ok fair warning this author is gleefully explicit, if you have read the "Not quite fairy tail" series you will be aware of that! very in your face (in more ways than one) descriptive, not so much smutty as just full on, no excuses sex and with various partners (at least until they get together)
Arrrrgh I really liked the story right up until it had been so promising until then.
Also I was a tad annoyed, I had just finished reading https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30223508-little-red and the author had gone on about how she was writing longer stories I didn't realise this was only like 68 pages till after I read it /sigh
Enjoyed this book, the characters were well developed and likeable. I couldn't wait to see what happens next. Not a big fan of this author's abrupt endings, a little more finesse and elaboration would go a long way- as would a round of proofreading. There were a lot of typo's and grammatical errors.
Enjoyable paranormal romance, with plenty of suspense just wish the book was longer - have tried to find any information on a 2nd book and/or more in the series but can't find any. A definte keeper.
