When Izzy agreed to become an undercover poison taster, she didn’t anticipate that it might involve driving around the streets of Los Angeles with a corpse in the trunk. Because the police asked her to. She also didn’t think finding a body together could be considered a bonding experience until she met Connor’s family. But fate delights in marking its territory all over Izzy’s expectations. And this time she’ll be caught between the powers of Homeland Security, an evil human trafficking ring, and the Taste Society all working toward different ends…

Chelsea Field

Chelsea Field has lived an exciting life for an introvert.

She’s fallen off a galloping racehorse, faced down dozens of Australia’s most dangerous animals (including vicious roosters, for those of you who’ve read EAT, PRAY, DIE), and while she’s never sold buns or coffee for a living like her protagonist, she’s consumed plenty of both.

Yes, all of those points are about animals or food. I told you she’s an introvert.

After writing a romantic comedy (no, you can’t read it) where the hero was a photographer from Burnside and then meeting and marrying a photographer from Burnside a few years later, she’s a little worried her writing has weird prophetic fate-like powers. So she makes sure nothing too bad ever happens to her characters, just in case life decides to imitate fiction again.

You can get to know her better at http://chelseafieldauthor.com. As the middle child of five, she’s used to being ignored, though, so don’t sweat it.

This is my 4th book in the series and I think I'm done. Even though the idea of poisoning celebrities being a thing isn't enough to hold my interest. And, hey, I really like the idea. How much fun would that be?

Go. Away.

The problem for me is the character development. In that there is none. I feel nothing about the characters in this book. I probably feel more for Kim Kardashian. Disgust and distaste are feelings, right?

And the romance? Ugh! The thing about a series with a couple that has no actual love scenes is that the romance isn't believable. There is absolutely no heat or chemistry between this couple. He barely sees her, and when he does it's just to protect her from the latest thing trying to kill her. He barely speaks to her too. I mean, like grunts and two word answers. I don't need sex scenes, but I do need to feel the attraction and heat between a couple to believe in their relationship. Even if they were just flirting I'd be happy. But, there is nothing. I have more chemistry going on with my Amazon delivery guy, and I see him more often than Izzie and Conner see each other.

2.5 stars.

I think I'm starting to want a little more romance now, since the lack of development for the H's character is starting to bother me. The amount that the h thinks about Connor, talks about Connor, and misses Connor, is just silly given that Connor is almost never around. And that fact makes it seem like the MCs' relationship is mostly in the h's head. Which was frustrating.

Also the propensity of trouble finding the h was irksome. She really needs to be more proactive about her ninja and arms training because I'm having a hard time believing that she would survive all her crazy encounters with the bad guys. By now a normal person would have been killed a half dozen different ways and yet she still manages to bumble away from anyone with the intent on hurting her again and again.

Other than those quibbles, the reality behind the mystery was a real treat. I never suspected what was really happening until after not-so-subtle hints were dropped. And the humour was as funny as always. I will read more of this series and by this author, but I do hope that things pick up in the relationship department. I don't need any intimate scenes (really, those are best left to the imagination) but I need more real connection, more conversations, and more regular showings of how much the H cares for the h instead of just him rescuing her all the time. And between this book and the next, the h needs to have a lot more training since I refuse to believe that she wouldn't be killed with her current abilities.

A fun wild ride cozy mystery with some romance and humor! A MUST read!

Another wild romp through the life of Izzy! This is the fourth book in an incredibly creative and hilarious series! Each book of the series brings more surprises and wonderful character development. Izzy works for a secret group who are taste tester to the "rich and famous." In this book, her client is a well loved movie star. We learn more about Connor through his sister Harper who takes a bigger role in this storyline than in the previous book. Complete with a dead body, homeland security, human trafficking, twists and turns in the plot we are taken on a very crazy ride through a fantastically written cozy! We love our nosy older neighbor Etta who loves to get involved with Izzy in everything-but she is amazing in her knowledge of criminal things and how to do some questionable things and is very secretive about what her past was; We learn more about Harper who took to Izzy and helpfully gets involved in her cases and can dish the dirt on her brother, Connor, Izzy's boyfriend and a senior member of the secret tasting group. Chelsea Field writes fast paced dialog with a great sense of humor. You must get this book if you want some fun and mystery. In fact, you must read this whole series! I received an ARC from the author, but the opinion expressed here is strictly my own.

Probably my least favorite book of the series. It just has stupid choice after stupid choice because she expects someone to save her. There were also several lulls in the book. Overall, didn't make me want to really keep reading.

4.5 **** Simply said, I enjoy this series and it's characters and scenarios. This one dealt with a dark subject matter that engaged the reader without being too graphic. Some lack of commas and a couple other little things lost part of a star; otherwise, a very good, quick read.

Action never stops

This book had a more serious plot, and yet still had light moments. Love the characters, the writing style, and the heart in this series. I'm snagging the next book right now!

Giggles galore!

This whole series is fabulous. Chelsea Field has created a wonderful cast of characters that you just can't help but love. Each story has its own mystery, yet the overall series suggest an even deeper one. I can't wait to see where she takes us next!

Ready for the next in the series!

I've read all the books in the series and this is the last one... for now. Loved each one. The concept of the Taste Society a a secretive company is unique and offers a way to build in all kinds of situations. They keep you turning the pages to see what kind of schemes our heroine comes up with and land her in trouble. The contrast in personalities of the main characters keep their romance evolving in ways to hold your interest. Can't want for the next book!

I want more........

These books are great, fun reads. A professional taster with a penchant for finding mayhem and murder, good looking and intelligent men who want her, a crazy old lady neighbor and a whole cast of interesting characters keep the stories moving and fun.

Love love love.

This whole series is amazing! It's witty, and hilarious, starring a female protagonist who is an average everyday woman who just happens to find trouble at every turn. I recommend this entire series to anyone with a sense of humor. Any fans of Janet Evonovich (sp?) would also love it.

Humorous Mystery

Chelsea Field is devine! Her books just keep getting better and better. Izzy's latest assignment is with a Hollywood star. Drugs, murder, a failed picnic, Conner's family and much more. I just love this author, she is cheeky, smart, funny and learning new things every day, whether she wants to or not! Not to be missed!

Another great addition to the series! I love this author's writing style. As always, this book had the right amount of humor. I liked the mystery and the plot overall. I was also really happy to see Harper in this book more than I was expecting! I do wish there had been a bit more Connor in this book. We did learn something huge about him, but I was hoping for a bit more. He had been a bit more central in some of the previous installments, and I just love when he and Izzy investigate more together.

Fun, Intense and Charming: Recommended!
This book is #4 in the Eat, Pray, Die series and it starts off at a fast pace. Isobel’s current assignment is working for a famous actor, Zachariah Hill. She’s an undercover poison taster, trained by & working for the Taste Society. Isobel (Izzy) tastes Zac’s food before he eats it and can detect any harmful additives.

It doesn’t take long until Izzy and Harper find a dead body in a car trunk. Izzy agrees to help the police and Homeland Security as an informant. Human trafficking is tied to the death, and it’s a complex investigation. (Note: This heavy topic is handled well and doesn’t get graphic. Don’t let it keep you away from this great novel.)

We see Isobel and her boyfriend, Connor, getting closer. It’s fun to read about their dates. Harper, Connor’s sister, is active in this case. We learn more about Harper and her unique dating requirements. This adds humor and helps offset the serious nature of their case. In addition, Harper provides insight into Connor’s personality.

There are several twists and turns. It keeps you guessing, just like Chelsea Field’s other novels. It has a touch of romance, making the main characters even more likable. Izzy is definitely someone you'd like as a friend. She's funny, warm and intelligent. This is not one of those books where the man figures everything out and needs to take over. Cheers to that!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful, humorous mystery. This whole series is a nice twist on the typical cozy mystery because of Izzy's job. I received an advanced review copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it. This didn't influence my review in any way.

Interesting, but not quite up to par

I've read the full series and generally enjoyed all of the books. The mystery is interesting. However, this story lacked the normal level of humor with Izzy, Etta and others. The chemistry between Connor and Izzy also fell short.

Perfect Antidote for a Rainy Afternoon!

Isobel Avery is a poison taster tasked by a secret society to go undercover to prevent the rich & famous from succumbing to poison. Poison & Prejudice is the 4th book in this hysterical, yet thrilling series. This time around Izzy, has been hired to protect movie star heartthrob Zachariah Hill. And such begins the high energy ride that is Izzy's life. From a poison spider to a crazy stalker to a vicious murderer Izzy attracts them all. However, as much as craziness swirls around poor Izzy, she has a big heart & really truly cares about the people she comes in contact with. Her relationship with boyfriend Connor is progressing wonderfully & provides just the right amount of romance for our gal. Comic interludes are provided by senior neighbor Etta, roommate Oliver, & Connor's sister Harper. With such an intriguing plot & fascinating characters I couldn't helped but be drawn in immediately & definitely had a hard time putting this book down!!

This fourth book in the Eat, Pray, Die mystery series continues to amuse me. In this one Izzy, who has a genetic variation which allows her to taste poisons without dying, is food tasting for a famous movie actor, recently separated from his movie star wife. When she borrows his car to run an errand and finds his estranged wife dead in the trunk she is at a loss for what to do, so she takes the car back to the garage while she contacts her investigator boyfriend, only to discover the body missing when she opens the trunk again looking for a missing earring. From there the clues and the mysteries just keep coming. A light and fun mystery with lots of plot twists and clues.

She can do no wrong with writing in my book!!

Well Izzy is up to her ears in a whole mess of trouble again. Although she doesn't have to go finding it it just seems to find her. She's protecting a movie star from being food poisoned when she ends up finding a dead body in his trunk. And then the fun really begins, because there also seems to be a human trafficking ring going on and along for the ride with Izzy are Conner, and his sister Harper.
You will still get your fix of all the other beloved characters. I was hooked from page one myself. Props to Chelsea Field, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your heart and talent on this journey.

Once again in trying to do her job for the Taste Society Izzy finds herself getting swept up into investigating a crime. This time the stakes are higher than ever as she tries to help Homeland Security look into a human trafficking ring. Luckily she can count on her Connor and his family for help.

Poison and Prejudice has a slightly darker tone than the earlier books in the series but still has plenty of moments that will make you smile and it is nice to see the deepening of Izzy and Connor's relationship as he starts to open up to her.
