Langley, Oklahoma has fallen. The once fortified town was blown to pieces by the mad General Hess and his R.U.S.T army and left abandoned. Not it’s free for zombies to roam its deserted streets. Making good their escape during the battle between the dead and Hess’s forces, what’s left of the Screamin’ Mimi’s crew and the remainder Langley’s residents flee south, hoping to reach the last haven of humanity east of the Rocky Mountains.
But everything they’ve lived through has just been a warm up for what’s to come. The shambling hordes grow more massive by the day, secessionist forces want to add them to their ranks, either as soldiers or breeding stock, and the General is determined to use every resource at his disposal to hunt them down. And to top everything off, it seems a certain crowbar-toting combat journalist and one blue-haired ninja girl died in their fall from the top of Pensacola Dam into the floodwaters eighty feet below.
Surviving the coming battle is a long shot at best, but the crew of the Mimi are used to bucking the odds. Maybe, just maybe, they’ve got one, last fight in them. After all, during the zombie apocalypse the only certain things in life are...
I really enjoyed this series, kinda sad it only lasted 4 books, but it came to a satisfying end. You can see how the writer has grown in that previous books spent alot of time rehashing earlier events before getting to the new stuff, this time everything felt new, even when past events were touched upon. I kinda wish this series had been longer, because I fell in love with this band of zombie killing lunatics but perhaps the author will create a new world to entertain us with someday.
The group we have grown to love are now heading to Pecos after escaping from the lunatic Hess and his army. Reaching Pecos, they reunite with old friends and quickly start making new ones. As the inevitable battle with Hess looms, plans are made to stop him and his fellow nutcases and boy, what the citizens of Pecos have planned will blow you away. This is an immensely satisfying conclusion to an action packed, thrilling, nail biting, bloody, emotional ride with characters that you hope will survive the terrifying hordes of dead and waste of skin survivors. I highly recommend this series if you enjoy edge of your seat zombie stories.
This rounds it out and it's just as nuts and over the top as the rest.
I liked Kat the most.
The action in these was good fun but it could have a little less "spice" since it felt a little like it was taking over sometimes and I like my zombie books to be mainly zombie gore, not other bodily fluids.
