I love apocalyptic and survival fiction. I've read a ton of it. I've also read other books by this author. Honesty....this series is just... dumb. The story was just barely interesting enough to keep me reading... There are WAY too many different plots and sub plots going on. Drug dealers and bikers and Russians and Australian spies and Angry ex-wives all within 3-5 days after an EMP event that shuts down the power and electronics...Oh my... LMAO...Most of the characters are totally annoying and shallow. Too much detail in the unimportant parts of the story and not enough detail in the important bits. I have read MUCH worse than this... but I don't recommend wasting your money. The only reason I am going to finish this book is because I paid for it.
Bunker reminds me a lot of Reacher. A Lot. Not quite as charismatic though. The story is of a Russian attack, using an EMP to incapacitate most everything. Bunker, on a train, decides to hike back to the nearest town. In the process, he becomes this town's savior, so to speak. The romantic bits are a bit...fluffy? I don't know, seem pretty unlikely, though Bunker does nothing to encourage it. I got this set for free.
Wow! I'm loving this series. Bunker is a man determined to leave his old life behind when the unthinkable happens, a seemingly targeted EMP attack, and the Russians invade the US. He ends up in a small Colorado town, and decides to help the residents resist the Russian occupation. Very exciting, and action packed read which kept me on the edge of my seat. I thought all of the characters where well written, and unique. I highly recommend these books.
I throughly enjoyed these 3 books of Bunkerverse thrills and intense events! Great characters and an interesting storyline that kept my attention. Not totally believable because Bunker is nigh on indestructible but, hey! That’s fiction sometimes, right.
the first book was okay. i kept reading the second hoping to found out more about the EMP but was disappointed. Gave up early in the third installment when the violent weapons porn became too much.
what I personally want in a story like this is to hear how people manage off grid
If you are in between books, need a break from serious reading, then you might find this series something to fill the void. The story is engaging, but predictable and as I go to book three, a bit over the top. The super non-super hero type story. Not a bad read, just okay.
The storyline in a little implausible. Russians and Australians invading a small town in the US. The same people getting kidnapped three times in as many days. But I’m enjoying the byline and the characters so I’ll keep reading.
I think I have found a new author. Jay Falconer is a great story teller. The books keep moving and keep you interested. I would recommend to anyone looking for an easy read.
Liked the series which had endings without ending the storyline. Not a cliffhanger but would’ve loved if it had been a single book. Narrator is terrific and I’m glad they had him perform the whole series.
Good stories but the second book had a massive problem: At least two missing pages close to the end of the book. Also for being a three book bundle some of the characters were not very defined by the end of the third book.
I really enjoyed reading these three novels. The drama, suspense and action kept me turning pages to discover what would come next. I already purchased books 4 and 5. Can't wait to start reading them.
Good premise for a book, survival following a mysterious EMP pulse. However, character development is very shallow and stereotyped, robbing the story of its potential. Women are sex objects and children are whiny and incapable. Hero is likeable but mysterious, very little background on him given in first book, just clues. Book one is very short, more like a novella.
