Imogen O'Sullivan is horrified when charismatic tycoon Raoul breaks up her engagement and makes her his own convenient bride! She once surrendered everything to Raoul--body, heart and soul. But as he stalks back into her life, it's clear he has punishment in mind, not just passion! Can Imogen resist Raoul's potent brand of delicious vengeance?
I was born in Nottinghamshire, England, but I didn't live there for very long. The family moved to West Yorkshire when I was just eighteen months old and so I have always regarded Yorkshire as my home. I grew up there as the middle child in a family of five—all girls—in a home where books were vitally important and I read anything I could get my hands on.
Even before I could write I was making up stories. My mother tells the story of me recounting the tale of the Three Little Raindrops — Drippy, Droppy and Droopy to my two younger sisters when I was four. I can't remember a time when I wasn't scribbling away at something, and I wrote my first 'book' when I was eleven, an adventure story, most of it in secret in lessons at school—particularly maths lessons, which I hated.
But everyone, particularly teachers and my parents, told me that I would never make a living as a writer, and I should work towards a more secure career. So I decided instead that if I couldn't write books, I could at least work with them and so I settled for becoming a librarian. On leaving school, I went to the University College of Wales Aberystwyth where I studied English and Librarianship for my degree.
More importantly, university was also where I met my husband who was also studying English there. We married and moved back north, eventually settling in Lincolnshire. Here I worked as a children's librarian until I left work when my son was born.
After three years of being a full-time housewife and mother, I was ready for a new challenge, but needed something I could do at home, and so I turned to my old love of writing. My first attempts at novels were written on the kitchen table, often late into the night when my son was asleep or during a few snatched hours when he was out at nursery school.
The first two novels sent off to Harlequin Mills & Boon were rejected, but the third attempt was successful. I can still remember the moment that a letter arrived instead of the rejection slip I had been dreading. I think I must have read it over and over at least a hundred times before the reality of what it said sank in, and for days I kept checking it just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. In 1984, THE CHALK LINE was published just in time to be one of my best Christmas presents ever.
Fitting in hobbies around working and being a wife and mother can be difficult, but I always find time to read. I love all sorts of fiction, especially Romance, obviously. I also enjoy historical novels, detective fiction and long, absorbing biographies about fascinating people and I can spend hours in bookshops just browsing. I enjoy knitting and embroidery, but I rarely get time to do either now that I'm a full-time writer. I also love looking round antique fairs or junk shops, hoping to add to my collection of Victorian embroidery. During my working hours my four cats, all adopted from the RSPCA, usually keep me company in my study, though they have to be dissuaded from sitting on the piles of papers that they are convinced are there just for them.
I love to travel and visit new places, especially places with an interesting history, and I always enjoy visiting old castles or stately homes and imagining how the people who used to live there spent their days.
I'm often asked if I'm a romantic sort of person because I specialise in writing Romances. Well, if being romantic means caring about other people enough to make that extra special effort, then yes, I am. Romance is about making the important people in your life feel valued and letting them know that you care. But I also write about relationships and the difficulties people sometimes have in understanding each other, or expressing affection, or overcoming problems.
Sometimes—when the right words won't come, or an idea hasn't worked out as I'd thought, I wonder why I don't have some regular nine to five job, but when the story's flowing and the characters come alive, I really can't imagine a
While Imogen O'Sullivan is preparing for her upcoming wedding at her family home in Ireland her ex-lover Raoul Cardini comes back into her life. He was invited by Imogen's father, who doesn't know that Imogen and Raoul knew each other before. (Imogen and Raoul had a short-lived romance a couple of years ago and now Raoul believes Imogen aborted their baby...she didn't, she had an ectopic pregnancy. Imogen doesn't know Raoul found out about the pregnancy.)
Imogen's planning to marry a wealthy friend (Adnan) to help get her father out of debt. But when Adnan walks in on Raoul and Imogen in a compromising situation Adnan decides to call the wedding off. Imogen and Raoul discover they are still attracted to each other, but Raoul came to Ireland for revenge...
This was an enjoyable read. It was a bit slow at times, but I did like the heroine Imogen. She was caring, sweet, and strong. At first Raoul wasn't very likable (probably because he was misinformed about the pregnancy/abortion and was angry and wanted revenge) but he started to get nicer and more considerate and thoughtful when he discovered what really happened about the pregnancy.
Very emotional read (heroine had an ectopic pregnancy) but the plot was moving slowly and the end was not what I wanted. We never found out if hero and heroine had a baby and I just felt depressed. For those who care hero was heroine's first lover. She was celibate during separation but we have no idea if hero was celibate or not. Safe but depressing read.
I liked the last few chapters a lot! I didn't like how the storytelling began...with the heroine having flashbacks about how her romance with the hero began. I always have the hardest time getting into to romances told in such a way because I want to see the heroine fall in love first. I'm able to root for the heroine and really learn what motivates her when storytelling begins that way. It was such a chore to get to the halfpoint because I wasn't feeling the love the heroine felt when she had the short flashback thoughts.
A big negative...no epilogue. I know the sister will have her story told however I would like to read about the heroine & hero being parents. Reading about a heroine's grieving over a ectopic pregnancy is so sad.
This is Kate Walker’s first book in months but let me tell you the wait is worth it. A Proposal to Secure His Vengeance is sexy drama, sizzling chemistry, red-hot revenge and intense angst that ricochet out the roof! Imogen O’Sullivan is no doormat. She encompasses the essence of grace, sass and independence. But she is a spitfire when stroked the wrong way. Raoul defies every law of gravity when he dismantles her life. He wants revenge but Imogen is stronger than he thinks. Raoul on the other hand is beautifully scarred. I didn’t like his personality and his lust for revenge at first, but as the story progressed, I got to know him better, I got to see him evolve and it got to a point where I cheered for him to get his girl. Beneath his tough, broody exterior is a man whose heart yearns for the healing touch of love. Overall, Kate Walker beautifully brings this story alive. It is sexy and engaging and I enjoyed it!
When Raoul Cardini arrives in Ireland to seek vengeance on beautiful Imogen O’Sullivan the woman he fell for years before he finds himself still attracted to her, but there are a lot of misunderstandings between these two people so their journey to a HEA is a very rocky one where stubborn wills almost tear them apart again, make yourself comfortable for a read that will keep you absorbed.
Imogen had had a hard life growing up, her love of horses kept her close to her father but then her parent’s marriage broke up and her mother and sister left separating them for many years. When she takes a holiday years later in Corsica she meets a man who will steal her heart but he insists that a holiday fling is all he wants and there are consequences at the that are heart-breaking for Imogen, but life must go on, she finally finds her sister and then she agrees to marry her friend Adnan to save the stud, but Raoul arrives and everything changes.
Raoul is very wealthy businessman and is sick of woman wanting him for his money he has been hurt badly before and swears it will never happen again, so when he is drawn to Imogen after meeting her in a bar their relationship will not go any further than the fling he insists on but maybe his heart has another opinion and when he gets information that is not correct he goes for vengeance, when he discovers the truth a lot changes.
This really is an up and down story Imogen was so strong considering what she has been through and Raoul is hard very hard but there is a side to him that cares deeply and when Imogen’s world is crashing he steps up to the mark and makes everything so very good, theirs is a sensual and wobbly start, oh but the smiles when the truths are uncovered. Thank you MS Walker for another fabulous story.
Reunited lovers! Secrets, lies and revenge push this story into the limelight as each believes wrong information about the other leading to hard feelings on both sides. This wasn't my favorite book by this author as it was a bit confusing and very slow moving, but in the end I was intrigued enough to want to know how they were going to manage that happily ever after.

Sometimes you just gotta read a dumper fire of a novel so you can hate read the shit out of it. Male lead - it's okay to be vindictive, vengeful asshole because he's under the false impression that she had an abortion with HIS child. My property !!! Apparently Her body her choice has not entered his thick skull. Lead female - Oh this hot piece of ass chose me out of all the beautiful women. I am the chosen one. My first adult sexual experience was with a random stranger that I spent zero time getting to know before demurely hoping into bed with him. He really does love me, he gave me a handkerchief after making me cry. Nevermind he flew halfway around the world to ruin me, my family business and my long lost baby sister. He was just upset because he didn't know that I had an ectopic pregnancy. Where's the smut? Where's the sex? Smut meter - 💋 - literally, as in one mediocre kiss.

Kate Walker is such an awesome weaver of stories I'd probably give it a 5 star before I opened the first page! Imogen and Raoul are fantastic characters who make the pages burn and crackle with their explosive conflict and passion.
Second chance/reunited characters are my fave (no secret there) so this was A+ from me. The backstory and the plot are exciting and told in such a way I was dying to get to the end to find out how the happy every after evolves.
Another wonderful, wonderful tale, thank you so, so much Kate.
I kept getting interrupted in reading this book, but once I finally could sit down and read it, I enjoyed the book. The heroines are always rescuing their weak fathers by putting themselves on the line, but the hero is irrestible.

I hadn't read Kate Walker in awhile until last summer and that title was very satisfying, however the quality of the writing in this is exemplary: "A Proposal to Secure His Vengeance" is a tightly eminently written romance by an author with such a deftness of touch, that aspiring writers of the genre will experience a masterclass in how it should be done by reading this romance. If this isn't in contention for major prizes in the romance genre this year I will be genuinely surprised!
