Hiding out in a mental institution isn’t glamorous. I call it surviving.

I’m blissfully unaware of the world outside the walls—and spell—that hides me. Until the ghost shows up with talks about his friends being marked by a demon. Oh, but not just any demon. The same one who has marked me and wants me dead.

My Father.

Fearful daddy dearest would be my next uninvited guess, I make the choice to follow the ghost to his four, very alive friends. To my relief they want my father dead as much as I do. One thing I’m not prepared for is finding out that Zane—the alpha wolf shifter—is my mate, and the demon mark links the five of us—ghost included—together on a deeper level than I thought.

Teaming up and facing the demon stirs up passion and dark secrets none of us are ready to face.

The author had good ideas for this book but unfortunately, I don't think the execution was very good... Marked for them is supposed to be a RH paranormal but if you're looking for one, there are way better books out there than this one nowadays. In a RH, you're usually after the emotional connections between the characters and here, I felt nothing. Everything happened too quickly and they all found everything too normal when it wasn't. There wasn't any chemistry and I wasn't invested enough by the plot for me to look over the issues I had with the book. I don't think I'll be continuing with the series.

Marked for Them is a Paranormal Reverse Harem story by Lia Davis. I am a big fan of Lia's and I believe this may be favorite book of hers to date. It features a fractured group of young men who have been friends since the third grade, but a tragedy at graduation broke their group apart. Zane, an Alpha werewolf, and Dimitri, a witch, live together at the destroyed coven house, and Trevor and Wyatt, both psychics, live together as a couple. Wade, Wyatt's twin exists as a ghost. Their lives were all ruined by a demon, Salrus who marked them as teens and gave them the order to destroy his daughter, Reese. Reese has been on the run her entire life and has hidden in a mental hospital the last 2 years. Once discovered by Wade and her father, Reese follows Wade to his friends to team up and try to destroy her father or die trying. Her days of running are over. Once Reese meets the boys their bond flares to life. It's deeper than physical attraction and not dependent on the demon marking. They are meant to be together and Reese quickly decides that she is meant to save "her" boys from their pain and her father's torment.

These characters are great; so diverse. I love that there are so many different types of paranormals involved. We have the powerful, protective, possessive Alpha, one very powerful 1/2 demon 1/2 witch, another witch who is scared of his powers, 2 psychics with different abilities, and a ghost that can go from realm to realm and become solid. The possibilities are nearly endless with this group. Add in their life time friendship, a relationship, the pain of their shared trauma, and a girl that they all want and it's an unbelievable group dynamic.

The story line itself is full of excitement and suspense with some sexy scenes thrown in. It's full of action. This is a book that you need to clear a night for because once you start, you can't stop. It ends with a wicked cliffhanger that leaves you worrying and wanting Book 2 now!

Basic premise Reese Summers is half witch half demon so a hybrid, her father who wants her dead marks a set of best friends and tasks them with killing her. Ten years later Reese has closeted herself away in a mental institution hiding herself from the demon with medication when the ghost of one of the boys appears asking her for assistance. This leads her to seek out the boys who she instantly senses deep connections with.

This one was a bust which was a shame as there were some excellent ideas here unfortunately it just wasn’t executed well. I had zero connections to any of the characters involved the harem such as it was seemed to spring out of nowhere with no build-up at all and the instalove was big here. This just didn’t feel authentic and natural, it’s hard to explain but there just wasn’t for me any real chemistry. It also had a very much tell-not-show style of narration so the result was that I felt very disconnected from it all.

I’m also just not interested or invested in what will happen to any of the individuals next and it all just felt disjointed and extremely messy. The writing itself wasn’t bad just lacklustre and without real depth-it also felt one-dimensional, unfortunately, this is going to be the end of the road for me.

First of all, I want to say that if I ever come across an Ouija board I will immediately start running the other way (possibly screaming). I read too many books and watched too many creepy movies to just stand around an Ouija board waiting for disaster to happen.
Now to the actual book. The plot itself was good. I can see what the author wanted to do here, and I think it was a fine idea.
My issues was with the emotional aspect. First there was Reese's escapes from the 'nut house', as she lovingly calls it, and finding the guys who were marked with the purpose of killing her. What annoyed me was how they all reacted to each other. Like, we just met, but let's act all buddy-buddy, like we've known each other for years and be comfortable together. You what a harem? Sure, no problem. It's not like it's weird or anything, forming a relationship with a complete stranger.
Then the fact that Wyatt and Trevor haven't talked to Zane and Dimitri for nearly ten years, yet when they finally meet, it's like nothing ever happened between them. No emotions whatsoever. I don't believe you.
The sex scene was like three sentences long, or something, and I didn't realized it was happening until it was over.

So, overall, great idea for the plot, but the emotional aspect left something to be desired. Hope it will improve in the next book, because I really do want to see how the story unfolds.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great beginning for this series.
Book 1 was more a background book for me.
Here, you get to know who are the players + how the demon put his mark on them.
Reese was needed to complete the new "Pack"
The demon's mark linked them together + also gave them a boost on their natural power.
I loved the storytelling.
The storytelling grabs you + do not want to let you go.
Even though it ends in a cliffhanger, it was a good read.
I can't wait for book 2.

I love RH books and was very happy with this story! It's a great start to the series. It starts out with the guys as teens and then hops to Reese in the mental ward seeing a Wade. From there the story moves along at a nice pace. There's a little mystery thrown in about the demon and the council and that the story even more interesting. I'm so glad I'm reading this series after the next book is out so I don't have to wait to find out what happens! A definite must read and be prepared for not much heat but hey, they're getting together so I didn't mind.

I loved this one. The whole mix of paranormal characters sucked me right in; shifters, witches and demons.... As ever the world building is meticulous and the characters are engaging. The idea behind the book intrigued me right from the start and I loved the fast paced rythm. Excellent read.

I actually enjoyed reading this book. There are some things that need to be hashed out but otherwise enjoyable. I normally dont do this but I feel I do a little to get my feelings for the book across sooo.....SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!

I wish there was more of an affection connection with Zane and Reese. She's his mate and there is sexual chemistry off the charts. Just there is something missing from that. Could be they dont know each other and perhaps the lovey dovey stuff will come later. He's sweet in a gruff way. I felt she was more connected with Dimitri. He was sweet and shy and there was chemistry there too. Zane is an Alpha wolf so maybe he is different. I dont know yet. I feel we havent really gotten to know these guys totally yet. Could just be the way he is. You know he cared about her because the times he was away from her he freaked out a little and hugged her and sniffed her when she was back. So...I think it could just be a Zane thing. I was on the fence about Wyatt and Trevor only because they cut themselves off from Zane and Dimitri for one thing and they kept feeding the Council on Reese's whereabouts. This was before they met her though. Because of the marking things I know they did this to remain alive but still that was painful when Reece found out. Wade...I really love him. Yes, he's a ghost but perhaps he's more. Time will tell. She's supposed to have a bond with all 5 and he can be in solid form when he chooses to be. I think the dynamics of this big ol relationship will be interesting. They are all different and have been through their own hells. This ends on a cliffhanger sooo I'm not ecstatic about that...it was disappointing.

Part witch and part demon Reese has hidden herself away in a metal hospital, the drugs keep her demon father from finding her. The hedge witch part of her can communicate with the dead and she can see ghosts as well.

A couple of things happen when a ghost named Wade shows up. First he is trying to convince her to leave with him to aid his friends in killing the demon that marked them and second her father Selros (the demon) shows up. Jumping through realms with Wade to evade Selros, she ends up at the Rose Lake Coven, a coven which is no more, destroyed by Selros and now inhabited by Deimitri and Zane.

Reese felt an immediate attraction to both Zane and Dimitri. One she would need to investigate further. However they needed to strengthen the wards around the coven before anything else. They didn't need Selros popping in.

I did a lot of giggling at some of the interactions here. That would be changing soon enough.

Educationing herself on demonology and Wade finding more information on the council helps to expedite things. They did have to get Wyatt and Trevor on board though. Something that wouldn't be easy, since Wade is Wyatt's twin.

Lots of suspense, plenty of heat and a bit of a cliff hanger. Fortunately book two is out so it's not terrible.

"5 out of 5 stars! All of Reese’s life she has been living in seclusion and on the run. She is half-demon after all. Than with her father trying to kill her staying hidden is necessary. But when a ghost finds her and brings her to men who might be able to help protect her, she finds the courage to take it upon herself to make a new future for them all. Now they just have to be sure to defeat their common enemy (her father) before he rips their lives apart even more...

Can I just say now what I’ve been thinking since I finished this novel ... which is, “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!” Why Ms. Davis, did you do this to me?! I am on Ms. Davis’ newsletter list and when she was pimping this novel ("Marked For Them") it left me REALLY intrigued. Therefore, I preordered it and was so excited on release day to get it ... then I completed this novel in about 12 hours (because of sleep and my family bugging me). Marked for Them by author Lia Davis is the first book in the Witches of Rose Lake series. I liked this fast paced, action packed start to this series. There is a ton going on and it kept me turning the pages wanting more.
All the players in this book
Reese, has been hidden away in a mental institution for two years. Only to be found by a ghost with a mission. She is a demon/ witch hybrid.
Dimitri, he is a witch who is really scared of his powers. Considering what happens when he is a teen I cannot blame him.
Zane the Alpha were wolf.
Trevor and Wyatt are psychics. Wyatt lost his twin Wade.
Wade, a ghost who sometimes becomes solid. He has a complicated after life.
Ohh and let us not forget the Ouija board that starts all this trouble.
All of that together with a demon who wants to kill his offspring and you have the start of a memorable love story.
This is a very fast paced book. Lots of action and great dialogue too. Great world building. I want to know more about what will happen to these people in the future. Does end on a cliff hanger. But overall, I cannot wait to read more and find out what happens next.

Marked by a demon as youths, these five friends have had their lives ripped apart by the command of their demon master - kill a witch. They have done everything to avoid this task, until she barges into their lives and tells them that the time to rise against the demon is now. Reese gets to know these men and begins to forge an unbreakable bond that will give her enough power to end the demon, her father, once and for all. The dynamics among these six are complex and complicated as they get to know her and to train their skills for the fight ahead while dealing with their own jumbled emotions.
To call this a reverse harem series is to oversimplify it. These people are bound together on every conceivable level and their task is clear. Nothing will stop them as they embark on this journey to end Salrus and expose the Witches’ Council’s duplicity and manipulation. This first book, Marked For Them, only touches the surface of these burgeoning relationships. I hope we get to know more about each of them as the story continues. Author Lia Davis has laid the groundwork for what promises to be an exciting series.

I really liked this book. There was a LOT of dialogue (which I'm a big fan of). The "world-building" was done at a comfortable pace for me. It's not all done upfront, nor are you left currently wondering "so what EXACTLY is possible". It's progressive in a comfortable way. It has a quick pace overall. The book kind of starts off running. I kind of wish it would have eased me into it a little bit more. I'd like to have felt the "waiting/hiding" of the characters a little bit more. Maybe had a chapter explaining the monotony of hiding in the insane asylum and at the coven house, before everything up and changes. But other than that, I'm definitely hooked.

I liked all the characters, though I'm definitely looking forward to learning more about them in the next book.

The "adult" scenes were kind of weird to me. They felt a little forced. I wanted them to either be MORE or just not be there. They were too short and not descriptive enough for my tastes. It felt like it would have been better off if it had just kind of trailed off and left it suggested that sex had happened.

Marked for Them by Lia Davis will knock your socks off with her cliffhanger ending. Suffice it to say I already ordered book 2. Character and world development is phenomenal. Imagine a witch, 2 psychics, a ghost and a shifter all being mated to another ghost...what a great premise. The story builds nicely but l definitely wished for more heat between them but I now know that this is a series and each book will build. I loved Zane the alpha shifter and Dimitri the elemental ghost. They are the first two characters we really get to know the best. The rest of the guys Wyatt, Wade, Trevor are last and not as developed but the basics are definitely there. The protagonist we haven't met in person yet but the dread, anger, fear and hatred of all the characters bring him to the forfront of the suspense. This is the first book In the series and I will definitely be reading them all. This author entices her readers and keeps you hooked to the last page. Well done.

I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it

Reese has locked herself in a mental institute trying to hide from her father, he demon marked her and wants to kill her. Meanwhile a group of friends, who were demon marked when they were 17, have long since split up and are trying to avoid the demons call.

Reese can no longer hide in a drug induced haze and sets out to gather her covers in the hopes of defeating her demon dad

The reader learns a lot in this first of series book. Well written, great storyline we get to meet the heroine and her guys. The writer draws you in to this paranormal reverse harem and keeps you glued to the page. I highly recommend this book, and I am so looking forward to book two

I really loved the sound of this book and the blurb definitely drew me in, but I was a little unsure at first when I started reading this. I'd say it took me till about halfway through the book till I really started to enjoy it and then I felt like the story drew me in. It's a interesting read, quite fast paced and I think that's the part I struggled with the most, how her relationship with the guys was almost instantaneous. I do prefer a build to romance and the relationships, but I see why it's the way it has been written in this book as it is an important part of the story, her instant relationship with the guys.
Nevertheless, once I got more into the story I did enjoy it and Zane is definitely my favourite. I will be reading the next part and I'm looking forward to it.

Holy Cow, I loved this book!!! I like reverse harem and thought I'd give this a try and I was so surprised how much I loved this book. I immediately grabbed the second in the series because I needed to continue reading.
Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, which I usually hate, but it was done so well.
It starts off where we see a bit of the back story and then we go forward. I will admit that I cried a little because of our ghostly boy! I just felt so bad for him, it's not fair. But i have high hopes for him. Zane is so alpha male that I love him and his growly and possessiveness. But remember, it's a reverse harem, so he does share.

If you like reverse harem and paranormal then you'll love this.

Great new twist on a RH story!

Loved this book! It was a new twist on the RH theme. I love that it involved both humans and supernaturals. It makes so much more sense than some of the RH books because the guys have all been friends since 3rd grade and already feel like a family no are used to sharing things.
They've all gone thru some struggles as a result of Reese's demon father. But now that all six of them are together, maybe they can turn their futures around.
Loved the character development and the storyline. Can't wait to read the next book! Definitely a new Lia Davis fan!

Thrilling beginning to this new series. Emotionally gripping, action packed, heart pounding fight to save the world from a nasty demon and corrupt council.

Reese has been on the run her entire life hiding from a demon father that wants to kill her and that she watched kill her mother. Zane, Dimitri, Wade, Trevor and Wyatt are five friends that have grown up together and are family, they are marked by the demon and ordered to find Reese and kill her. However demon daddy did not count on the five of them resting orders and plotting to kill him instead of his daughter. Highly entertaining reading adventure with a cliff hanger ending.

Holy cliffhanger Batman. That’s one wicked cliffhanger. They story was thrilling, had heat to spare, and had a level of excitement to it that kept you glued to the pages. The flow was fast and never quit until the end. I liked the different dynamics each relationship had. I was thinking there might be more challenges between Reese and Trevor and Wyatt, given the relationship between the two men. Normally I don’t care for cliffhanger books, because you never know when the other is going to be written, so it took off a star. But that is a preference thing to me. If you don’t mind cliffhangers, it’s a five star read. I can’t wait to start the next in the series.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading but found myself being drawn into each and everyone . Everyone has their own special qualities that they bring into the new family they are starting. I wanted to cry as I read about how the Demon (I'm not going to give away his name) forced himself into their lives and the heartache he caused in the very beginning. But when Wyatt found Reese and brought everyone else together was exciting, wonderful, and touching. Each relationship was new yet different in it's own special way. Everything they were going thru is making them true mates/family. I loved it all except that I have to wait till the next book.

In the beginning, I was confused at how the events came about and why but towards the end things were explained. It is a really cool puzzle once the pieces start to come together and I am betting we will learn even more in the next book. I was surprised at the dynamic between everyone and how different they all are in a physical sense as well. I do like the main female, she's smart and warm even after everything she's gone through. The story plot is awesome, great characters and the narrator helps bring everything to life. I am loving this book and looking forward to more of the series! Marked for Them is a PNR/Reverse Harem story. Our heroine is a ½ demon ½ witch hybrid. She has been hiding out in an insane asylum since shortly after her father killed her mother. Now she’s been found and a ghost leads her to temporary safety and four other guys.
The world building is great and it was fun getting to know the guys but I felt this story required a longer book. The author handles it by leaving us with a cliff hanger ending which I hate but I love knowing we are going to get the rest of the story and more time with the guys.

A half Witch half Demon girl, one male ghost, one male wolf shifter, one male witch, and two humans with some questionable abilities, being hunted by her demon father what could possibly go wrong, one word nothing. This book was awesome you would think with so many characters that as a reader you would have a hard time keeping up but actually I thought it was amazingly well written and I was able to keep track of all the characters in the story. I cannot wait for book two because I can just imagine what the six of them will be up to.

Overall rating: 5

Book one is perfection! The reverse harem scenario is in place with each character having their own unique place in the mix. The antagonist is out there, making the suspense and danger build quite expertly. This author did wonders allowing we readers to feel the dread, turmoil and anguish each character feels towards the uncertain future they faced. There is a cliffhanger, precisely place right where a reader is most wanting more which we know was done purposely. Oh the cruelty! Seeking out that evil book two now.

I can’t see anywhere on the cover that this is a reverse harem book. This should be clearly shown as others may not like this genre. Myself, I don’t mind, if it is accompanied by a good storyline. Lia Davis takes you into a world that is similar to ours therefore it is easy to envisage, the difference being though is hers is filled with Wolf Shifters, Witches and Demons. The storyline develops at a fast pace, just like her realtionships with the 4 guys and a ghost. I was slightly disappointed the development of the relationships seemed to take over, from the main reason they came together in the first place. However if this was meant as setting the ground work for future books in the series, then I understand. I finished the book, so there was a hold that kept me hooked and turning the pages. I would read the next book in the series and hope that it contains more strength and direction in the reason they are there. Slightly weak, but promising start to a new series, but interesting enough to make me want to read book.2. Which hopefully will clarify where this story will lead us. The Cliffhanger was great. Please remember these are my own thoughts & opinions, we are all different and look for various reasons why we like or dislike a book. I don’t leave spoilers for this reason, because you should make your own mind up. It is definitely worth giving this book a chance.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So the cover of Marked for Them features a leather-clad buxom blonde standing in front of four jacked dudes. Four guys, one girl; I liked those odds. I was in. The premise goes like this: Reese is half-demon, half-witch. Her father, a power demon, marked her for death. Seeking human recruits to help in the effort, daddy demon marked five teen boys as well, demanding they submit to his will, hunt and kill Reese. As the teens grow into men, they thwart the demon and face deadly consequences. Through paranormal intervention, Reese joins with the men, a witch and alpha shifter among them, and comes to find they’re fated mates. All. Of. Them.
Hot, right? The story ended up being rather lukewarm. While the premise is great, the character development and romantic tension fell a bit flat for me. Relationships, characters, and scenes of romance are hastily developed. The story also ends in a cliff-hanger; definitely not my preference. I feel with a slower roll out, Davis could’ve more fully developed a pretty compelling concept. I’m not giving up on the Witches of Rose Lake Coven. I’d still like to see what kind of magic this interesting little coven creates.

I had a strange feeling throughout the whole book as if the author had a plot map to follow and not enough time or words for it to appear seamless. The characters were too rational and easily accepting. I expected more reluctance from all of them, especially given how the group was formed. And now it was like, 'Oh, there are 5 of you? Make a schedule and I will mate you in order.' WTF? Even Trevor had no major problems, and he is gay, for god's sake! The same feeling persisted in terms of their actions - every decision was the right one, no other options were discussed, and information (book, journal, council meeting etc.) was always conveniently there to help. Way too easy if you ask me.

What I liked, though, was the idea of different types of beings in the group (a witch, a ghost, a were). And in general the writing style was pleasant to my eye.

And the final nail to the coffin for me was the fact this is the first book of the series. I managed not to notice that when reading the blurb and had a shock when the book ended as it did. Of course my lack of attention is not the author's fault but I was not hooked enough to want to read the second book in the series.

I like reverse harems stories and even like paranormal romance. The story starts out with the guys as teens and then hops to Reese in the mental ward seeing a Wade. From there the story moves along at a decent pace. There's a bit of mystery thrown in about the demon and the council even with that the story did not become more interesting. I was disappointed in the sex scenes in the story they felt like it was thrown in. The premise of the story was good but it just did not flow in what I expected from this genre. I didn't feel the love with Reese and Zane. He tells her and the boys that she is his mate but I am not feeling it. I feel more of the connection between her and Dimitri or even Wyatt but not Zane. She has sex with Zane, he marks her and she has sex with Trevor Wyatt's boyfriend. Zane marks her and she uses that mark to mark Wyatt and Trevor. Things happen before she can get to the remaining men. The ending of the first book ends on a cliff hanger. I am not going to pick up the next book to find out what happens.
