This is a fantastic book! I cannot recommend it more highly. For me, Stoicism is natural. It is how I have learned the long way around to cope with the world.
George Bradley's presentation is written in an easy to understand style that provides the basics of Stoicism in very practical contexts by combining inspirational accounts and day-to-day applications of Stoic ideals.
My first audiobook! I've had a vague awareness of stoicism for years, but beyond a bit of fascination and support for its concept, I've never truly looked into it. This book does a wonderful job of explaining the classic precepts of the stoic philosophy while relating them to modern life with both historic and modern anecdotes. I highly recommend this book for anyone even vaguely interested in incorporating the stoic philosophy into their life.
Stoic in name. A collage of quotes of definitely non-Stoic characters like Bukowsky, 50 Cent, Clinton, etc pierced together with some Stoic concepts. Definitely not what I had in mind.
