Jaywalk: A Novel

Rate this book
It's 2016, with all the baggage that comes with it. Elise is a finance student trying to figure out what to do with her life and Justin is a post-grad intern who accidentally became a political operative. They walk into a Mexican restaurant on Capitol Hill.

Sorry, after seeing that sentence on paper I realize that sounds like the setup for a joke. There’s no punchline. Maybe you could come up with one. If you do, please let me know. I’ll put it on a t-shirt and wear it in public.

They walked into the restaurant because they work there, but they’d much rather do something else. Stuff is happening to them, and around them. But they, like pretty much every Millennial, want to change the world. Justin finds himself out of his depth in a political scandal revolving around an oil pipeline in the Midwest, and Elise gets caught up in a scandal of her own.

Side All political plot points are based on real-world situations. If they seem far-fetched, please keep that in mind, no matter how hard it is to believe

The story of two normal people (and as much as they would hate to be called this, "Millennials") just trying to find their place in a world they desperately want to change.
