Attorney Frank McNamara's wife runs a medical clinic for the indigent in Dallas, TX. The clinic doctors cannot accept the insurers’ latest inadequate contract without closing their doors for lack of funds. They hang together in confronting the insurers, but their collaboration brings a lawsuit for violations of Antitrust law by the U.S. Justice Department. Frank successfully defends his wife and the doctors in the trial and Appeals Courts. Eventually the case makes its way to the highest tribunal in the nation, the Supreme Court. There, Frank makes a well-received argument for the doctors' stance. But apparently, even Supreme Court Justices can be corrupted.
