This book is a well deserved updated edition. The huge colorful illustrations, the comparisons of speed, weapons, manueverability, the history of design and purpose... all make for a well composed reference book.
My only complaint is that several of the older designs were relegated to the back of the book, with less impressive pictures and information, and a few vehicles of less importance were left out all together. So while this is a good reference for any Star Wars fan, it is not what I would call a complete reference. Still, a positive addition to any collection and useful when trying to make sure that the SW authors got their facts straight.
This was purchased as a gift for my Star Wars obsessed 8 year old nephew. Alas I will need to buy another copy for him since I have yet to put this one down, and do not see me relinquishing positive control over it to anyone. This book is as much a joy to thumb through, as it is to sit and actually read. The descriptions and photos are top notch and any Star Wars aficionado would be remiss is excluding this from their collection.
even if you think you are a star wars expert this book tells you more than you know. i think its safe to say, this book rules. its a non fiction book about a fiction story.
Not that detailed or informative, unfortunately. The art had an odd superdeformed look. The copy I looked at was starting to come unbound at the bottom, but I don't know if it's a problem with all the copies, or only this one. (Though it didn't seem to have seen particularly hard use.)
