This is karmic astrology - way beyond the sun signs - it is true spiritual astrology. Descriptions based on the placement of the North Node (or True Node) in the birth chart, this book provides much depth and insight into each one's soul and its purpose. Beautifully written with strong overtones of compassion.

Well, fuck you book! How dare you. I am not that easy to understand, I refuse your knowledge of me.

North node, in Vedic culture called RAHU, is in the simplest way possible, life experiences that you came here to learn for the first time since the development of your Soul, of which you are completely unaware in this 3D. So Rahu could be brutal. It is never a gentle time when you realise that you have entered into that period because everything is new, and the ego fucking hates that. But when Rahu grabs you, you know it. You don't have to be aware of the north node or anything connected with astrology, but we all experience Rahu (north node) because we all have it. It is inevitable, it is the basic of our life. Any life, no matter the belief system, or religion or any type of shit that makes you feel better/separated from others. Everybody has a north/south node even those ones who think spirituality is wooowooo - not for me, I am sticking to my mental projections because I rely on 5 senses reality to approve my reality.

On the other hand in our life we have something that is called the south node (KETU), which are ''life experiences'' from our past lives, mostly karma. South node is a bit of a comfort zone in our life. We choose the same situations all over again, we choose the same patterns of people, all our fears look comfortable. It is a bundle of karmic lessons which we are trying to let go and update with the emotional release and awareness.

But to one life living in the NOW moment, you also bring the blessings from the past incarnations. You bring awareness of the lessons that you have learned, of wisdom that you have gained, there are plenty of flowers from that meadow which we integrated within our past incarnations and that are somehow easy for us now.

Before we come into our bodies we make a soul contract with our soul and karmic family, and we incarnate into our bodies (which we choose), in the family (which we choose), to a place (which we choose), with partners and friends (who we also choose in our soul contract) to live a life in which we are ''enjoying'' our Earthly roles and lessons.

In January this year/2020 my north node and my south node connected in the same ''dots'', planets and natal charts houses, which means: my kundalini woke up. Kundalini is very specific, immensely powerful life force energy that is coiled in the 1st, base chakra. At the time I didn't have a clue that this mind-fuck is called Kundalini, because I thought that only guru masters from the unknown parts of India experience it. I read about Kundalini and I was thinking, OMG, WTF! I am safe, because this can't happen to one woman from Balkan area, just no. I am not even interested in that kind of spirituality and kundalini yoga and orgasmic power breath or whatever. I can read about it and continue eating my walnuts and Netflixing.

Well.

For me, during those 6 months I was in a state of utter bewilderment. You stop being a human. Kundalini is such a powerful energy which has its own mind, and I survived it only because a. I didn't know it was kundalini, I thought I was having a mental/emotional/physical breakdown and b. I surrendered to this magnificence because this is the only thing that you can do.

But Kundalini, it changes you irrevocably. There is no going back to a person that you used to be, your Ego is just screaming and whining and dying, because you are dying in a way and Kundalini is opening you into spiritual dimension beyond explainable. Your body is physically changing because the kundalini reawakens ancient DNA codes through light frequencies, and that excruciatingly hurts, Your emotions are on 100%, your mental capacity is beyond because it feels like you are on LSD for months, and you enter the spiritual realms of complete unknown: telepathy, Akashic records, energy update of gigantic proportions, everything becomes One, as we are One. It is a very humbling yet, for me unimaginably creative and hard awakening.

And my north and south node, well, they said hello, hello you too in the same time and place. Translating: I had to drastically change. And it is very difficult to explain. So I did all sorts of things: I travelled so much this year (Balkan area based), I met so many people, joined so many groups, had kovid 2 times without any symptoms. And I had to do a lot of research and spent a lot of time being alone so I could start grasping what the fuck was going on with me. And … I connected the dots little by little.

Astrology, seems like, is everything. It saved my life because it stopped being daily horoscope and it started being life-changing science/tool.

It is just stunning how much we are unaware of the importance of our date of birth and planets, archetypes and soul contracts. Astrology provides everything since it is so based in logic and maths.

If you want to start with something light, start with this book. You just need to know your date of birth and the book will provide you with information that are the entrance into the great beyond and unknown of your soul development.

It is lovely and you will have a lot of a-ha! after a-ha! moments.

This book is really amazing. It's written in a self-help style that I generally find hard to stomach, but in this case, I just take it and ask for more. It's all about nodes, which are about what you were in a past life, the things you gravitate towards like fixed habits, because they're safe, versus what you need to explore and strengthen in this lifetime. Whatever, haters. Ask me about your nodes and I'll blow your mind.

According to this book, my virgo north node suggests that my past lives were centered in monastic/prison environments and that this life is about an emergence into personal freedom and that the negotiation of that is complicated. There's more. It's kind of interesting. It really dignifies why people born in 1979 are such a bunch of mental cases. Astrology, what a science.

This book is for everyone, even those who find themselves skeptical about astrology. This book isn't about sun signs, or anything that superficial. It talks about the nodes of moon that give insight to the type of lives we have lived in the past, what negative attributes we need to let go of, and how we can grow in this lifetime into stronger and happier beings. One of my favorite books!

If you don't know what your astrological node is you might want to figure out. Reading about my node changed my life and the way I look at the path of where I want to go. I was stunned by the accuracy of it and unlike other astrology books it didn't tell me who I was but rather who I am striving to be. And how to take steps to be that person.

This is a book about how the position of the North Node in your birth chart effects your life lessons. I read the chapters that pertained to my 5 immediate family members and it was outrageous how accurate it was describing their personalities, strengths, challenges, and life lessons. It really gave me a better way of thinking about how to communicate with them and myself. I wasn't so in to the healing songs in the end of each chapter but the rest was fun and insightful. I'm glad I picked this up.

This is definitely going to be a reference book I whip out when people be confusing me.

Jan Spiller uses the Nodes when she does her astrology readings and they have been the reason why her colleagues think she is psychic. She notices the position of the North and South Nodes of the Moon by sign and by house. Nodes are the points formed by the moon's orbit around the earth that intersect with the earth's path around the sun. Spiller also notices the geometric relationships or aspects that the Nodes make the other planets and any unusual circumstances with the planets that rule the signs the Nodes are in. Spiller calls them the True Nodes when the North Node is ascending node and South Node is descending node. We have learned attitudes and behaviours in our previous lifetimes that no longer serve us although they may have worked for us in the past, and this is information Spiller receives and interprets from the position of the Southern Node.

Astrology for the Soul believes that the North Node of the Moon is the key to unlocking your natal chart. At least when it comes to understanding your gifts, needs, personality and the tendencies that you have developed in past lives that you need to leave behind. True Node, finding your True North - it's a nice general guide to understanding what makes you tick.

How do you find your True Node? Well lucky for you Spiller has put it in the chart at the beginning of the book, so all you have to do is locate your birthday and flip to the appropriate chapter and start reading!

I doubt I would have read this book if it hadn't been gifted to me by a friend, but I sure am glad I did! Honestly, I'm not sure what I believe about astrology, but this book has been incredibly helpful (and fascinating!) to me. The chapter on my "north node" describes many of the struggles I've had in this lifetime, and the suggested forward-moving steps continue to make so much sense to me. Somehow it's all very comforting and motivating.

I so appreciate that the author (Jan Spiller) says time and time again to take in whatever feels/seems right to you, and to let the rest go. This isn't a doctrine at all and Spiller's way of writing confirms that.

I definitely recommend it, even if you're just curious.

5 stars. This book's vibes are ✨ immaculate. ✨ It's about your north node's sign and house. I've been trying to find a good book on the nodes so this was both educational and fun.

This might be the first time I give a bad book review, but here it is, Astrology of the Soul, was not for this soul. I was very excited to read it because it is LS’s favorite book and she even has a tattoo of a quote in the book. I even did research on nodes, signs and houses in preparation for the book. But I was very sad to have to conclude that this book just isn’t for me.

I don’t have complete disbelief in horoscopes. I have done many quizzes growing up and read enough fortune-telling articles to know that I am a Leo and a lot of what they say about Leo actually do describe me. But I suppose descriptions of other horoscopes might fit me too if I cared enough to read them. What trips me up the most about horoscope is that they seem to imply that every person born between certain dates would have the same personality, wants and needs, and would have the same fortune in the upcoming week/month/year. You can tell me that the positions of the constellations don’t repeat in billions of years, therefore astrology for each soul is different. But I just don’t believe that the time of one’s birth would determine, as the book would go on to explain, their personality, talents, past life tendencies (not going into the science of reincarnation), desires, goals, patterns in relationships.

That being said, I do understand why some people have a deep belief in astrology and find so much truth in the book. They are not delusional or unintelligent, they are just human. And we humans are good at believing in imaginary things, it’s one of the things that makes us so special as a species. So when the book tells one group of people in your previous life you are an observer, therefore, need to focus on yourself in this lifetime, and tells another, you were warriors before, you still want to fight but this is not the life so go care for other people and that’s how you’ll find purpose in life, both groups could choose to believe what the book says and continue caring for themselves and caring for others, both of the things they already do anyway. They do have good advice, but it’s so general that anyone who is willing to believe would believe it is written just for them.

I would be so easy to believe that because we were born at a certain time, this is what we are like, here is what we need to avoid, this is what we should do. But life is complex. We are the way we are because of genetics, our upbringing, our social class, our family, the people we meet, our unique experiences, our decisions, imaginations, creations, etc. I wish life was simple and we can just enter our birth time on a website and get the answers to who we are and what will happen to us, but it’s not. It might take us a lifetime to figure out our identity, why we are here, how we want to live. But that’s the beauty of being alive. And I rather stumble and discover on my own than to live a life fighting my supposed past life tendencies.

TRULY INFORMATIVE and INSIGHTFUL! I enjoyed reading this book. In chapter form, you read what specifically pertains to you. In this case you locate your sign and corresponding node (north or south) that your sign is in based upon the time you were born. You'll see yourself on these pages and it will let you know that astrology is a very real and current science!

Five stars, and I’ll definitely be coming back to this one.

“Once I lived next door to a retirement home, and I asked many senior citizens about their lives. Looking back, what was important to them? What did they wish they had done differently? Although they gave different answers on many things, every one of them told me that they never regretted the things they had tried that ended up being mistakes; what they regretted were the things they had wanted to do and not done — the chances they hadn't taken.”

Good, thorough. Felt mischaracterized at times also lol. Generally because it tends to be sweeping generalizations but sometimes it feels so personal and specific I felt like, “hey! That’s not true!” Lol. Not everything will land. I felt I was called emotionally dense/bad at reading others emotions/not very empathic (but also gifted in empathy) and that’s like my one claim to talent in life.

This book is entirely about north nodes in the chart. I didn’t realize this going in.

One criticism I have is in the beginning there’s talks of how the nodes are different in different houses with brief examples—ex. North node in Aries in the 7th house. However, there was never any mention of houses in the actual explanation chapters. I only really read about Capricorn because that’s mine and no where in it did the whole “house” thing get explained. Like what’s Capricorn north node 4th house opposed to 8th? I don’t even know what house means to be honest.

I absolutely LOVED this book for Jan Spillers in-depth exploration of the Nodes in the Birthchart. This Book is a fantastic resource for those with a basic fundamental understanding of Natal Astrology looking for a detailed analysis of the Nodal Placement in the birth chart. I greatly enjoy Spiller's psychoanalytic and behavioural observations and detailing regarding each nodal sign/placement.

Note that this book also explores the notion of past lives and reincarnation, as well as interprets each placement of the nodal signs and houses simultaneously. There is not a great depth of exploration of planetary aspects and the nodal axis as the author puts a great deal of detail in focusing on signs/houses.

I highly recommend this book for great foundational insights into the nodes of the birth chart.

I'm reading from the 2008 printing so it's a bit shinier..:)

Amazing info. Hah, it helps me realize why adolescense was so challenging! Haha, whew. It also has helped me see a glimpse as to why I chose the womb I did and when. The energies of the stars, or whatever you want to call it, ..there's no way I can't learn what's described with my north node. Hah, pretty exciting, fascinating and interesting.

She gives a nice indepth look at each node. Well worth the read.

While I agree with the author that the nodes are the key to understanding our purpose in a lifetime, her interpretation of my nodal personality traits did not resonate with me at all. I found a myriad of node explanations on the web that DID resonate, and they all said essentially the same thing. For whatever reason, Spiller’s interpretation was vastly different, so this book won’t be a keeper for me as a reference tool.

Often astrology is either all toxic positivity or overly negative. This book felt dramatic and negative to me. Eg you are the result / victim of your "past life". I can see some people may respond to this with helplessness and a victim reaction.

Didn't really bring me great insights and some statements simply weren't true for me at all. Which ofc may be true for everything astro related because humans are complex creatures. And not easily categorized and put in little boxes.

Love this book, it's introduced me to a whole new aspect of astrology. Based on what house the north node is located at birth. It's simple to figure out with a chart at the front of book and then you just find your corresponding north node sign. The info is everything from past life attributes and things you're meant to focus on in this lifetime. So fun to do with my coworkers and friends!

Jan Spiller is one the greats in her field and has an impressive reputation in Astrology and I am ecstatic that so many have taken gems of knowledge from her work to improve their lives. However, I found her book to be unimpressive and verbose, taking one phrase to define a sign and using the next 40 pages to describe that adjective rather than describe the sign itself.
