Life experience has made Leticia Villarreal the strong and independent woman she is today. She has known soul-deep love had it cruelly taken away, has taken the reins of a thriving ranch and given back to the community she is part of. The only thing missing is someone to share her life with, but is she ready to let go of the ghosts of her past? The future of her ranch looks exciting, could that future include love?

In a community where everyone’s business is fodder for gossip, John Clay Laidlaw’s less than conventional marriage, his handsome good looks, wealth and self-assuredness both attracts and repels Leticia. Long ago, he did all he could to hurt her, why should she think he is any different today? Leticia may be older, but she is also wiser and will not be fooled. It will take an act of true kindness and a shoulder to lean on to melt her heart, does that shoulder belong to a more mature John Clay?

Not everyone needs a fiery, blazing romance between twenty-somethings to be enraptured by a tale. Hebby Roman’s BORDER ROMANCE proves that the passion of romantic love never grows old and life’s experiences gained through age may not take away the butterflies of budding romance, but it does instill the wisdom of a heart that knows what it wants when the time is right.

Ms. Roman has given passionate romance a realistic and beautifully grounded platform to launch from as she shows us that love is powerful when two people come together at the right time and place in their lives. Love is not only for the young, but it can be far more precious with age.
Wonderful as a standalone, but as part of a series, I'm sure it is priceless!

Border Romance by Hebby Roman is spectacular. It's the 3rd book in her Border series and it's even more amazing than the 1st two books Border Heat & Border Affair.
Leticia is still trying to live life after the death of her beloved husband Eduardo, but that's easier said than done.
Her horses and ranch along with her daughter are her lifeblood. Charro horses are her passion, but her newest purchase, a quarter horse which has great racing potential has just landed on the ranch.
Her trainer, Senor Ramos, has eyes for not only the wonderful horse, but for Leticia herself, can he be the next chapter in her life or is he just a distraction.
John Clay Laidlaw an old flame sees her in Houston at the track and all the romance he had buried from years ago, comes racing back.
As Leticia tries to get on with her life with two men who are interested in her, what path will she take?
But trouble has come knocking at her ranch and her beloved Charro horses are the target, can she prevent evil from taking one? When it all comes to head, I literally cried.
I loved, loved, this wonderful book and the mystery incorporated. Hebby Roman's insight she gives her readers into the horse racing world is exciting.
A wonderfully written book of starting over, picking up the pieces, and finding a forever happy-ever after.

Another great addition to the On the Border series. I'm loving Hebby Roman's series that has Hispanic culture, Texas, Mexico and border life. These are the first books I've read by Hebby and I'm excited to read more of her books. She's officially on my go to authors list. Sweet romances with intrigue and mystery added in. Border Romance satisfied my wants that I had after reading the first 2 books in the series. My wants took a different turn than what I had anticipated but more than satisfied my needs. I do not read blurbs and didn't pay attention to the cover even. I like to be surprised! The direction Libby ended up heading with her investments was exciting! The mystery in Border Romance had a tear jerking tragedy toward the end that had me bawling. Now I just want more from these characters. Grandkids possibly? I don't want it to end!

Leticia, Franco and John Clay's story

A second chance romance. Now widowed eight years from a love deep and lasting, Leticia is lonely. A new man from Mexico comes to train horses and brings back fresh memories of her deceased husband and a new feeling of attraction. But, the man who years ago treated her so badly and disrespected makes her start to feel again. The trainer's son gets brought from Mexico to also train horses. Then the problems start with the prize horses. Hebby Roman has intricately wound all this into a mystery and emotional ride that holds you until the end. What happens and who pairs up? Is patience a payoff? Does anybody find happiness? Will this engaging story answer the questions? Find out. Well worth the read.

Hebby Roman’s “Border Romance” has a compelling plot along with wonderful and memorable characters. Leticia Villarreal is authentic and a strong-willed woman who runs a tight rein on the operations of her ranch. It was truly wonderful and refreshing to see Leticia grow and strive for a balance between her head and heart. John Clay’s character growth is memorable and as the pages turn, you are rooting for him. I also felt that I learnt so much about Quarter horse racing. The underlying danger of the story is woven really well with the central plot and you cannot help but continue reading to know what happens next. Hebby’s description of Texas is such that I felt I was literally teleported there. A satisfying and happy read indeed!

Love story and a horse ranch

Well written, nice characterisation, and a solid story. A horse ranch in Texas near the Mexican border has problems with poisoning and a drug cartel. Add in a love story and you get a great book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was a wonderful tale of a woman, Leticia Villarreal, who has mourned the death of her beloved husband for almost a decade. She is slowly starting to awaken to having feelings for someone else in her life but who? Her handsome horse trainer, Franco Ramos or a man that she dated a few times in high school that treated her badly after divorcing her first husband, John Clay Laidlaw? I was a little confused at first (hadn't read the book's synopsis). The story was written in the POV for all three.

While this is the third in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone. I had not read the prior stories and I really enjoyed this one. It does seem strange to me though that Leticia is also the female protagonist of the first story as well (along with the deceased husband).

There were a few sexy scenes but so highly glossed over (really no attention given to details) that that should not offend anyone. What may offend some is the fact that John Clay has been separated from his wife for 10 years! While she wants the divorce, he does not (they combined the ranches when they married and he wants to avoid the mess of separating the properties.) There was a scene near the end that very had tears coming and tissues were needed.

Leticia Villarreal is a lonely widow who, for the past 8 years, has kept busy with her ranch and charity work. Chuy, her foreman, had purchased an amazing horse and he and Franco Ramos, her new horse trainer, excitedly waited for her to come home and see what Stormy Knight could do! Stopwatch in hand, they timed him in a quarter mile. The gelding’s speed would easily have made him a champion. When Leticia decides to set up a Quarter horse racing stable, she is offered help from an old acquaintance which inadvertently exposes her horses to danger.

John Clay Laidlaw, a confident millionaire rancher, knew Leticia since high school. After his first divorce, he asked her to date him. But she remembered his arrogance and refused. Now separated from his second wife, he wants to help Leticia with her Quarter horse plans. Leticia still doesn't trust him until someone goes after her horses and John Clay comes to her rescue. Is she willing to give him a chance with her? Has he proven himself yet?

Secrets, danger, intrigue, and passion, this action-packed adventure has it all and then some.... an exciting read from beginning to end. Grab your copy and find out what’s going on at the ranch and whether a HEA is possible.

The front cover said I was reading Border Affair (On the Border Series Bk 2) but the internal frontispiece gave the title as Border Romance (and looking at Goodreads that is what I have just read). However my kindle book details give the synopsis to Border Affair - confused?
Whatever (whichever) I cannot say that I connected with the characters nor their emotions and I therefore found this book boring and was pleased when it came to an end. I probably won’t bother with Border Affair.
