Mystic Valley Alpha Cowboy

Rate this book
My Daddy lied! He was a billionaire!

After finishing art school, Daddy said he was broke and arranged to send me to Montana to marry a rancher who was much older than I.

I convinced myself I’d be all right and went along with Daddy’s plan. Until I saw the rough, tough cowboy come galloping up to the gates of Mystic Ranch to meet me.

Craning my neck to look up at him, I stood frozen to the spot. I blushed to the deepest red when his glacier blue eyes looked me up and down.

His hand was warm and big, as he clutched mine hoisting me up to straddle his mighty steed.

I trembled when I was told to circle my arms around his waist. I could feel the rugged muscles under his denim shirt causing a shock to run down my spine. I bounced a little with every gallop as we rode away as one.

I shook my head in silent disbelieve. He wasn’t old or disgusting…in fact he was quite the opposite. Why did a man like Clyde need a mail order bride? What had Daddy done to me?

Well I wanted to like this book, I love cowboy stories, but the story just didn't do it for me. Jade, the h was a blend of annoying, self centered and lacked personality and confidence. Clyde the H also lacked character development other than being surly. They spent next to no time together and had not much opportunity to actually develop their relationship. The other details, though minor bugged me a bunch. No cowboy gets up at 8am! There is just too much work to do, esp with feeding animals. He also seemed to ranch in a bubble, yet a spread as big as they portrayed would have had other people working there, yet we see no one else. Oh, and has the author ever been to a ranch or farm?? No one takes cabs back and forth from a ranch/farm, esp if you aren't really close to a big town or city. All added up those inconsistencies really made me not get into the story, and made me feel like the author just put in a cowboy and a horse for marketing. Oh, and not even once is the place/area called Mystic Valley! I believe this is the second book the author has published, so I think there is room for her to grow, and I would give her another chance in future. This story had the potential to be good as the plot was unique, instead the book needed some more time to develop the areas listed above.

Mystic Valley was a nice fun read. Jade is getting worried with her art as she has spent 2 years trying to get off her feet and sell a good many pieces. Her Dad is going to cut her off if she doesn’t help him with a deal. She has to pretend she is marrying this guy as he is wanting a wife. She has to do this to get her inheritance or be cut out of the will.

As she arrives at the ranch to meet Clyde Pattinson she can’t believe how remote she is. When a man rides up on his horse to greet her she is taken back how rude he seems. She also notices how handsome he is.

Clyde tells her she is late and takes her up to the house and tells her to have dinner ready at 8 and he will see here then. As he rides off Jade can’t believe how rough he is.

Can she make it through a few days to a month?

Loved the story and seeing what really happens and the twists that take place keep you turning the pages. The characters are well developed and you start to really like Clyde and how he stands up for Jade. You see a softer side of Jade and her ability to get out of her shell and stand up for herself.

Will be reading more books by this author.

Now I don't know if I had a little too high expectations for this book or what because I did have my eye on it for quite some time. I really hate to give any book 2 stars and I hate even more to talk anything bit positively about an authors work but this book was missing a lot in my opinion. The storyline had potential and it seemed like it would be so cute and possibly a little funny and charming. The writing wasn't bad but it was lacking and for lack of better word kinda lazy. It was lacking the meat on the very basic bones of this story. He was a broody, quiet, somewhat closed off man which makes sense because he's always been alone and he seems like he's been alone so long he doesn't even know how to be friendly or even have basic respect for another living in his home. Normally that's fine, I don't mind a broody, mercurial man in a story in fact I like it but I realized it's important to have multiple POV writing. In this story you really didn't know if the guy even liked her or not or how he even felt at all because it was only from her POV. Normally when they do that in a story they get to his POV and you find out he only comes off as pissed because he's trying to remain in control around this woman that is so beautiful and enticing it's making him want to grab her and rip her clothes off and pound her till she screams but all that was non existent in this story. So it was just a quiet, rude dick of a man who didn't act like she existed most of the time. As well as missing whole parts of the love scenes , parts that matter! It's like you were lost during the love scenes like WAIT ! How did they get there. There was no pictures to be painted in your mind. Non descriptive writing kinda bums me out guys! Not only that but it had no reason as to why the chick was falling for the guy every situation was him being rude and her feeling like shit because of it but then her being like I just really like him
And I don't know why.. kinda boring and didn't make you invested in the story of them or the story in general. Kind of wanted to put it down and give up and that goes against everything I believe in. I believe there's always hope for a story and you'll never know what can happen unless you finish it so I did and it ended nicely and got a littlest bit better but didn't save it by any means. I also wanted to finish it just to see how it ended. I didn't enjoy this story at all unfortunately. It was just lacking too much description and anything that made you feel for the story or the characters. I won't give up on the author though. This is the first I've read of her. So that wouldn't be fair. Really was in the mood for some cowboy too and this didn't satisfy that craving ☹️ see for yourself what you think about it.

Mystic's Valley Alpha Cowboy by Arabella Steedly
Jade finds being an artist isn't paying her bills and her father is done sending her money. Her daddy offers her a way out by marrying a man in Montana. She didn't barging for the tall handsome man she met at his gate to his ranch. Clyde Pattinson is the Mystic Valley Ranch owner. The sparks fly in this book. From the moment Jade and Clyde there is a sexual tension between them. This story is a page turner and so hard to put down. I think everyone would be happy to read this story. I am being gracious with the two - It was right there!!!
I really wanted to get into this book - The characters were there and the original direction of the story would have been pretty good - BUT and this is where I pushed myself to finish - Steedly seemed to go off into some strange version of reality - the whole plot with their father - dump it! The original idea of why she went to marry him was good - you could have taken that in a great direction - his brooding behavior, her insecurities - would have made for a great story but it felt like you just up and quit writing the story said to hell with it and stuck in some twist and typed the end -
I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this ebook and chose to leave a voluntary review.

Good thing it was free

As was mentioned in other reviews the editing is atrocious!! The h is insipid and annoying. There was a thinly disguised plot and the book was aCOMPLETE waste of time. I only finished it because I couldn’t believe it could get any worse. SURPRISE it did. I usually don’t write reviews if I don’t like a book but this one I had to it was so aggravating!! It doesn’t deserve any star.

Nope

I should have followed my rule. Any story that has a main character who is twenty five years old and still uses the word "daddy" for her father is not worth my time. Much like someone too old to use that term this story was shallow, immature and ridiculous. Enough said.

This books was not good

I could not understand the thinking behind any decisions made by any character they were idiotic.

Clyde - why did he feel guilt for loosing his client money? with stocks some time you win some times you lose. The client should only risk what they are willing to lose. There was no reason to be having to take care of his clients daughter after a stock price crash. Why would he think getting married to a stranger with out any conversation before hand a good idea? seriously wtf! If he really wanted to help her out he could have paid for her rent or got her a job or even hand her some cash but not marry her, come on. and then to not say anything when she writes the wrong name??

The dad- the idea that he could force the marriage to teach his daughter a lesson is completely stupid. What kind of parent treats their kid like that and why after being tricked would see simply fall in line with his plan for her life, one she has never wanted? Hello people your kids are their own people you can't plan out their whole lives are you living the life planned out for you by your parents?

Jade - This character is out of her mind. Why would you go along with the fathers crazy plan. How stupid is she to think you can have a marriage that is only for a little while for her father business. Why would she try to please her father who clearly does not care for her. How about get your own job and look after your self? And she kept switching between wanting out of the marriage then saying that she wanted to get marriage.

This book was confused it was trying to be a mail order bride story but was in no way a mail order bride story.
why would you marry some one for anther person benefit and why would you marry some one with out ever having a conversation about the specifics of what is going on.

I can not enjoy a story where all the characters are stupid and have no common sense.

Story did have a epilogue which I like.

they ended up living happily ever after, but I did not like that she needed him to tell her her art was good before she could believe it herself and have confidence in her self and her work.

Clyde Pattinson is one hot alpha cowboy living in beautiful Montana!! Jade Neely was a young, sheltered, naïve artist from the bustling city of Chicago who was basically pushed into an arranged marriage and lied to by her father. So much happens in this book and it was so fun to read. You get to watch Clyde go from a steely-eyed, close lipped cowboy to him standing up for Jade and showing her more compassion and faith in her art then her father ever did. Jade really blossoms and becomes more confident in everything including her art as well as her body. There are some really sexy intimate moments between these wonderful characters that really heats things up!! Throughout all the twists and turns in this story, there is a Happily Ever After that you will want to read all about for yourself!!

When Big City girl Jade meets small town rancher Clyde, it is not exactly love at first. Especially since it's supposed to be an arranged marriage that she doesn't want to be in. I felt like the author couldn't decide if this story was supposed to be a contemporary romance or written back in the 80's. There were a lot of scenes or thought processes, especially with Jade, that I felt were very dated and not how a woman today would have said or responded. I also felt that the dynamic between Jade and her father was an odd one and it left a lot of unanswered questions. Finally, I was confused with the "alpha" part of the title as, Clyde was definitely a manly man, but had very few characteristics of a true alpha as interpreted in most other stories today. I rate this book 3 hearts.

A great short read about a woman, Jade, who is trying to make it as an artist and a hot cowboy man, Clyde, that her father tricked her into marrying. As soon as she sees him she is taken aback by how good looking he is but is cold with her and only once in a while shows her some warmth. In the beginning he is a mystery to her and she wants to unravel him by getting to know him better. Unfortunately both of them have been duped by her father and both of them are holding secrets.
A great short read with steamy scenes and lust/love. I only wished that I could read Clyde's POV just once to know what he was thinking and feeling at times and that her father got what was coming to him.

I received an ARC copy of Mystic Valley: Alpha Cowboy by Arabella Steedly for voluntarily reviewing.

This was a great book. To be manipulated by your father into a "arranged marriage" only to find out that he was being manipulated by your father also. I can't imagine how I would feel in that situation but I know I would be pissed. Would I stay and try to make it work or would I leave like Jade did?

What happens when Clyde calls her father and he comes to the ranch? What happens after Jade leaves the ranch and gets to the train station? Do they stay together or will Clyde just let her leave without even saying goodbye? Does Jade ever make a living with her painting?

This is the first book I've read by this author. I was not surprised to find Jade was kind of a spoiled little rich girl, who only had to run to daddy to get the bills paid. So, I was not surprised she agreed to the marriage. With the house, land, livestock, a handsome man and money, why go through the motions? Just marry the man and see how it works out. Daddy never expected Jade or Clyde to actually like each other, much less fall in love. He is a pig and I can't wait to see what Clyde and Jade have in store for him next.

Let's start with grown women calling one of their fathers "Daddy". Somewhat unusual when the actual daughter does it but downright creepy when her friend does. I can't even with the idea of an arranged marriage, much less one arranged by her father/pimp, apparently. Gross.

The editing was pretty terrible but the final straw for me was "Clyde's deep angry voice snapped me out of my referee..." WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? Did she bring her own sports official on her walk and then decide to get inside them?!?!?!?!?

It's called proofreading, people. Try it sometime.

Jade starts out thinking that she's going along with her father's plan just until she can get what she wants out of the deal. But there's a lot she doesn't know, and it all starts with Clyde. Alpha Cowboy is really the only way to describe him, and he's one hot cowboy indeed. But he's also got a huge heart, and enough patience to figure out how to fix this royal mess. There are some great steamy scenes, some heart-to-heart talks, and a showdown scene that explains everything.

Jade just agreed to be mail order wife so she doesn't lose her inheritance till her Daddy can secure a deal with Clyde Patterson. Jade can't afford to live on an artist salary so this is a way to get her money just be the guys wife and then go home. But Clyde Patterson is not at all what she expects, she expected someone who couldn't get a wife.

Clyde and Jade

I just finished reading Mystic Valley and it was so real that i could see myself there. What a story. I would never have imagined the twist when I discovered what trick her Daddy played. You just have to read this book. The chemistry was hot and so was the cowboy. Ms Steedly sure knows how to write them.

2.5 I read the description and just had to read this book. But unfortunately there wasn't much to it. Just a short novella. You don't feel the connection between Clyde and Jade, the story is to rushed. :( It's an ok read for the kindle unlimited if you like short stories but I prefer full length so I can see the chemistry build between the hero and the heroine

Sexy and demanding

Clyde and Jade's story is something else. First her father is just one big pain in the behind. Then his continuous lies, conniving ways. Then Jades lie to Clyde. Clyde being the hard, silent, sexy, sulking cowboy, that Jade fell madly in love with. Her only friend, Michelle was a nice touch to the end of this story.

Jade is loyal to a fault. Her father totally didn't deserve her loyalty considering everything he put her through. She was able to meet her ruggedly infuriating Cowboy Charming though.

Grabs you at the beginning

This was a good story. Just the right amount of conflict and sexual tension. I think the last half of the book could of used a bit more but it was still a good ending. Well written self-contained story.

MYSTIC VALLEY was an unique read. It made me happy, sad, & angry enough to punch Jake's Dad in the face! Clyde was a sweet, yet guarded man. The story unfolds very well. I really enjoyed it! I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I personally thought this book was just okay. What I did like about the book was Michelle who is one of the main characters. I thought even though she had a dad that none of us would want to have, she came out on the good side of life. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

It is okay. It is a short read. It doesn't have a lot of character build up nor chemistry. The story flows well enough, the end feels very rushed. The character interactions are choppy. I plan on reading more from this author to see if she improves as her writing continues.
