Over the years, I’ve racked up a pretty interesting resume. Monster Hunter. Demon Slayer. Paranormal Investigator. Now I’m about to add "thief" to the list.
The mastermind behind this high-risk heist is Vincent Taske, a billionaire dying of cancer. A man desperate to cheat death no matter what the cost.
His plan? Break into the Hagen Bank. According to occult circles, its underground vaults hold some of the most powerful magical relics on the planet. Taske wants the one that promises a chance at immortality.
Only one problem...how do you get around the most sophisticated supernatural security on Earth? Answer: you find a man marked by the forces of Hell. A man like me: Mike Raven. For this is no ordinary caper. We're about to break into an infernal fortress of evil.
Getting into the bank will be the easy part. The hard part is getting out alive...
The book is more of a novella in length however the story continues with the main character being swept up into an adventure with a new cast of characters. It builds on the world and the story in the series however the dialogue is still pretty cringe. It's a super easy read that feels like you're watching an episode of a TV series. For what it is it's a decent read to pass the time but it's not going to be a more memorable book then others. If you enjoy the genre it's an okay series.
Demon Dawn is the fantastic fourth book in this series by William Massa. The plot in this one had me reading it in one sitting even harder to put down then the others. This is definitely one of those you can see easily made into a horror movie! I admit I saw some of the things coming, but that did not take away from reading it, not in the least, in a way it made me enjoy it more. There were however a couple of twists in this book that I did not see coming that surprised me and there was one major revelation that was the light bulb moment so to speak!
Raven never gets the easy assignments and in this case he didn't even volunteer for it! Yet he never stops rising to the occasion and gives it his all, his will to survive the most dire situations, yes very John Sinclair so this could very well hold a torch to that series!
This fourth entry in the series is so far my favorite. More horror than urban fantasy and a bank heist as the main story line makes for a very nail biting thriller. The smooth writing and the perfect pacing are on glorious display and the series keeps getting better and finally shattered my apprehension toward urban fantasy. Since the first book, the series was more gritty horror than sparkly urban fantasy vampire and I'm so glad that this trend strongly continues. William Massa has a knack for fun characters and smooth written action. If these qualities are part of your want list, Raven, shadow detective is your man.
I am so glad William Massa got back on track with this book in the series. This one had me turning page after page. A good adventure for the character. Although I do see a slight correlation between this character and a character from another writer that bothered me a little bit. Why must every main character in an urban fantasy have a demon inside him? It just seems a little unnecessary. At the same time the character showed as lot of growth. On to the next book in the series!
A month has passed since the Blood Rain incident and both Archer and Skulick are struggling to adapt after there brush with being Vampires. Raven is then whisked away from the Cursed City, and pressed ganged into joining a bank heist squad. The bank in question is the devil's bank, so as you would expect nothing goes to plan, we also learn more about the demon Cyon. Slightly different format, as Raven is on his own, but again moves at a nice pace and good edition to the series.
The body count rises as Raven's saga continues in his quest to find the demon that slayed his parents. His talents are challenged and he discovers another relic to add to his arsenal. It is a short but intense read that will keep you awake long past your bedtime.
A surprise ending, I liked the irony, demon hunter has a demon.
It was pretty good, a little slow moving in the middle and nearing the end. I kind of liked the twins, wish they could have stayed around. Wonder what kind of problems Cyon will cause Raven in future? Can't wait to find out. Good story.
In this one, Raven gets kidnapped to go to a demon bank to steal something for a rich guy. Vittoria is the leader of the group to steal the item. It wasn't all fun and games dealing with the demons. Great series!! Start with the first book!
Another good read in this Shadow Detective series by William Massa. Not a deep meaningful book but a genuine page turner with a flawed hero tacking the demons out there. This story was unusual in the series (so far) in being a bank heist with a difference!
Another great read in the series - our hero is on one case and is kidnapped to partake in another. Lots of action and a few twists and turns along the way. The books are a little short but always exciting and I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Raven was kidnapped by a billionaire who needed his demon mark to get into a bank in Switzerland . What follows is a deadly battle with demons guarding the bank , apparently the Devils bank. My main concern is that continuity issues happen .
This is another crazy ride with lots of monsters and gory death but if you are into that sort of thing, it is a great read. Unlike the other books, it doesn't center on usual characters (apart from Raven) and it set outside the Cursed City for a change.
I like this series. Raven is a straight shooter and he gets his point across without too much unnecessary fanfare. This is a great series if you want to focus on the action and not the messy life of the main character. And believe me, Raven can get messy.
