This sequel to Pittacus Lore’s Generation One is the second book in an epic new series set in the world of the #1 New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series.

Newcomers as well as fans of the original series will devour this fast-paced, action-packed sci-fi adventure that’s perfect for fans of Marvel’s X-Men, Alexandra Bracken’s Darkest Minds trilogy, and Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series.

The Human Garde Academy was created in the aftermath of an alien invasion of Earth. It was meant to provide a safe haven for teens across the globe who were suddenly developing incredible powers known as Legacies.

Taylor Cook was one of the newest students and had no idea if she’d ever fit in. But when she was mysteriously abducted, her friends broke every rule in the book to save her. In the process, they uncovered a secret organization that was not only behind Taylor’s kidnapping but also the disappearance of numerous teens with abilities. An organization that has dark roots in the Loric’s past, untold resources, and potentially even a mole at their own school.

Now these friends, who have become known to other students as the “Fugitive Six,” must work together to bring this mysterious group to an end before they can hurt anyone else.

A very good book and continuation of the series. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because the first 2/3 of the book are very slow. I can see why this was done this way to show the characters growth and maturity. Also when you have 9 characters to develop in the same book it will get a bit slower. Just of the pace of the book is what made this very good instead of great.

The other thing I really like about this book is the classic X-men style of the book. The themes of racism, not fitting in and not knowing who to trust. Along with saving the world in many cases from itself. The are more appearances of the old heroes, but these are small, and I think that was the right decision because they would have overshadowed the Earth Grades, not allowing them to develop as much.

The last 1/3 of this book was beyond awesome. Lots of action revelations flying fast, and lots of action. Then then ending promising huge things to come. I can't wait for the next book. this was a bit of a setting the scene, but also showing the new characters so grow and make their own decisions.

I think this might be the first time I've read a Pittacus Lore book and not been super-duper invested in it. Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed Fugitive Six for what it was worth, but it was considerably harder to enjoy at times than previous books in this 'verse. Even more third-person POVs clamor for dominance here, and just like Generation One, it leaves me feeling more than a bit disconnected from the characters compared to the original Lorien Legacies.

But there's one thing for sure about Fugitive Six - we're venturing into some seriously choppy, muddy waters here. The narrative gets super political at times, with jibes at in-universe "Wolf News" and "Jon Leary" as stand-ins for Fox News and Sean Hannity and, building on the previous book especially, a most welcome disdain for conservatives - look no further than Caleb's asshole brothers, who hit him with the homophobic insults and mock the concept of trigger warnings for good measure. They're bloody cartoons, but then again, one thing I've learned from writer Twitter is that the current crop of right-wingers is too one-dimensional and transparent for self-respecting writers to write. (Incidentally, I totally headcanon Caleb as bi. Just sayin'.)

What's really the selling point of this book is how much it turns things very morally grey compared to previous novels. Everyone's going behind everyone's backs, and there's not a lot of distinction between the good and bad guys sometimes. (Though there's one returning unfavorite who's pretty much the absolute worst, even more so than ever.) And by the end of this one...well, I won't spoil it, but it gets pretty Aveyardian, that cliffhanger. Not like the original Aveyardian cliffhanger of Glass Sword, but more like King's Cage in that you'll be begging the book, "Nooooooooooooooo..."

All I will say is this: I hope that Book 3 comes out by this time next year like scheduled.

perhaps we should live to fight another day

this book took a turn that i wasn't expecting at all, i hope theres another book in this series because it cannot end like that.

Plot: Fugitive Six picks right up after the events of Generation One and the group is back at the academy however things are not what they seem, with this secret group after human glades no one is safe. Even though this book doesn't contain a lot of action it does make up for it with so much character development, character returns and plot that just keeps getting deeper and deeper. Having the multiple POV'S is helping me with understanding the story better and it works really well while reading so i've enjoyed that.

So many of characters all have different conflicting ideas about how things should be going and especially with Ran and Isabella who voice their opinions very loudly to everyone. I think were on the brink of a civil war and things will be getting a lot more worse for everyone before they get better. Ran, Caleb and Isabella along with Five and Einar are all on one side of the fight where as Tayla, Kopano and Nigel are on the other so i think going into book three if we get one there will be a huge dynamic shift with everyone. I think also John and Nine will both choose different sides because of the way i think it's headed and i'm actually scared to see where it goes next with these two characters.

Five makes a return to the story and actually has a larger role then i was expecting him to have but he did change and shake things up a bit, i still have a strong dislike for this character. Also making an appearance is Agent Walker who also has a very big role in this book and i'm not sure if she will be back again but it will be interesting to see where her character fits. John, Sam and Six all also make small cameo appearances leaving only Ella and Maria from the original series not have made an appearance.

The story however did drag on a bit which does make for slower reading but i do praise the authors for making up for it with story progression, character development because other wise i would have clocked out from this book. However the last few chapters is absolutely crazy and i had to go back a few times to read them to make sure i got everything.

Characters:

Taylor Cook: Taylor had a real tough time in the first book from discovering her powers, to getting to the academy to getting kidnapped then getting rescued she has already been through it all and its only the second book of the series. I think she has become a really great leader and asset to the academy and i think she will have to choose what she's really fighting for because i'm not 100% convinced that she even knows what she's doing. She did however really start to come out of her shell a bit more but i think she will have trouble with whats coming because civil war is coming and i don't think she will handle it well.

Kopano Okeke: This character is one of those characters i don't really think wants to get involved with anything but with him and Taylor starting something he will do anything to protect her and will end up fighting along side her, I don't want to see Kopano get hurt because as i said in my review for book one i think this character has one of the biggest hearts and has had everyone walk over him in regards to his powers. Kopano needs to fight back more and get that fire in him that i know he has deep down and with the war coming he will need it more then ever.

Caleb Crane: as i said in my review for book one i find Caleb interesting because there are still so many layers to his personality that i don't think we know everything to him just yet. Caleb however does get a lot more page time in this second book when he goes back to his family to deal with the death of his own father and we start to see how his personality is shaped by his own family and it was very interesting to see. I really didn't like his family in this book and the way they treated him was something that makes my blood boil and he just did sit back and let that happen, now i do believe he made the wrong choice in going with Ran.

Nigel Barnaby: Nigel continues to be one of my favourite characters from this spin off series because his character just jumps off the page with his loud and sarcastic personality which i love. I feel so sorry for Nigel because he is now stuck in the middle of this civil war that is about to come crashing and he just went on a side without really thinking about it, i would have love to see him just walk away from everyone and not participate in it because i think he will end up getting hurt the most because i feel like he has the less to lose or gain.

Ran Takeda: Ran really surprised me in this book because she literally left the academy and chose to be on Einar's side of this upcoming civil war and i'm really surprised. In the first book she comes off as real timid and really didn't like fighting or violence but in the last few chapters of this book did a complete 180 and has chosen a side and is willing to fight in this war that will surely get out of hand. I don't want to lose Ran or any of the other main characters but with them all choosing sides i think that will seal a few peoples fates. Ran's opinions are all valid but i was just shocked she actually left the academy and some of her friends behind because she feels like she doesn't belong and that makes me really sad.

Isabella Silva: Isabella is fighting for herself and she really did surprise me also because her opinions and feelings are different to those of the rest of her friends and the academy. Isabella is really learning to stand on her two feet and be the leader i know she can be, however it does make me sad that she did decide to leave. What Isabella said towards the end of the book really shocked me because she also feels like she doesn't belong and wants to venture alone with those who will accept her and it makes me sad that she doesn't feel accepted.

Nine: Nine has really changed since the finale of the original series i do miss the old nine when he would just charge into battle and be ready for a fight but this new Nine is different and i'm slowly starting to respect him more. I have a feeling that Nine and John will go head to head in the third book if we get one because the way this one ended John is seriously up to something that Nine will definitely be angry about.

Make no mistake, a war is what is happening. A great battle for control of people like you.

I do love how there are always little messages or themes throughout these books and it's so clear, we have racism, acceptance, not feeling wanted and so many more and these authors do a really good job at making sure these topics are all covered in the series.

John, Sam, Six and Five have all made appearances in this book and all i want now is to see Marina or Ella to make their first appearances because it doesn't feel complete until we see these two!

If you are a fan of the original 'I am Number Four' series i recommend you continue on with Generation one then read this one because you will get all types of nostalgia. However if you are new here i suggest you read the original series before reading this one as you will be spoiled during the reading of this series of some events that take place in the original series.

I love these freaky teens. Like the Lorien Legacies teens, they are eventful and dramatic which is awesome! This one had some surprise reveals and a shocking turn of event at the end. Cannot wait for the next installment!

My quick and simple overall: loved it and I am so glad my reading slump is over!

"Sorry I was so werid at first." "Don't be sorry." Taylor looked around. "I think we're all a little weird."

What a wild ride that was.

As the second book in this series, it had to be faster. The world and new characteristics that are gonna form part of it are already in place, as well as the fact that we already know the characters, still, I was a bit skeptical about how all this was gonna play out.

Therefore I was pleasantly surprised when this turned out to be much more than I was expecting. It had a lot of action and good character development and it had me second guessing everything, which I always love, so I wasn't sure what was gonna happen at any point.

We follow 5 different POVs, all from different locations, and it was super cool to see the same things -major things- happen to all of them but how differently they reacted to them depending on the company.

Isabela is one of my least favorite new characters I may say though. I value how honest she is and all, but... well, if I knew her in real life I wouldn't be friends with her. I kinda wanted to smack her really hard at some points.

It has a bit of romance sprinkled in the story, the couples are cute but there isn't one, yet, that makes my heart go all warm and soft for them. They're not bad, they're just not quite there for me yet.

All in all the story was really good and, oh boy! that ending was unexpected. I was so shocked when everything was happening. I still can't quite believe it - even though it makes perfect sense - I don't think I'm gonna recover from that one for a while.

"And what kind of friend would I be if I missed the debut performance of Nigel and the Clones, huh?" "A friend with eardrums," Isabela replied."

I cannot get over how amazing these books are. I’m SO happy they’ve continued with a spin-off series that has me just as hooked as the original. I love all the characters in this book and I liked the espionage that occurred. The ending....whoa! It’s a long wait until the next book but it’ll be worth it!

Pittacus Lore is one hell of a cliffhanger. Hahaha. This book is plot twists after plot twists. It was emotionally thrilling.

The Fugitive 6's character development were well-paced. Each of them with their own conflicting ideals, noticeably on Ran and Isabela, and surprisingly on all Calebs. Nigel, as usual is still bloody funny considering he seems to have the worst fate of them all. As for Taylor and Kopano, now romantically involved, let's just see how that goes. Also, there's a lot of comeback appearances from other Gardes, allies and even archenemies. It's nostalgic.

Though the only action we got from this book was at the last few chapters, it still was jam-packed, intense and satisfying.

A civil war is definitely coming. And I'm sensing a Nine-Johnny tandem. I can't stop thinking about it. I just can't wait for the next book. Please!!!! An early release.

This is the second book in the Lorien Legacies Reborn series. First, I liked the title because it fit the story perfectly. I like the premise of this (same with the series that preceded this one.) I wasn't sure after reading the first one, what the desired end was. I think this, the 2nd book, may have clarified that a bit. So that was appreciated.

I liked the action scenes. They were nicely paced. I also liked the characters. They were all distinctively different. I liked too that they weren't all "yes ma'am" kids. Overall, I liked this one. It was a little slow to start, but it eventually gained speed. So 3 stars.

Ahh.

I'm so sorry. But that cliffhanger was brutal and I'm upset. Also, I think the plot is going downhill and I miss Adam.

Also, I wish it had more of Einar, he's pretty much the only person I like, apart from Nigel.

I need to get my hands on the next book now. I did couldn’t even come close to guessing half the events in this book. I’m completely torn. I don’t even know what I’m gonna do with my life when I’m done reading this series. I love this world too much.

I have to admit that for the first 2/3 of the book I wasn’t super invested. Honestly, they were referencing a lot of events from Generation One and I didn’t remember anything that happened in it. This is due to a long wait time in between reading the books as well as an unremarkable story. I thought Fugitive Six was going to be more of the same. I thought that until the 2/3 mark and then things got good. Like… really, really good! Like “holy shit, did that just happen?” fantastic! Honestly, that final 1/3 of the book completely saved the series going forward for me.

In this new story arc things aren’t as black and white as the original series. There aren’t any clear good and bad guys here. Everyone has an angle and every side has its own merits. The final 1/3 of the book really delves deep into that moral grey area and the characters became so fascinating. There’s the old adage that “absolute power corrupts, absolutely” and it’s true here too. Everyone will always look to exploit power, especially those without it. It’s made abundantly clear that war is coming between the Guarde and the humans. I will say there is a scene at the end where the Guarde choose sides and its very X-Men and Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Both have similar goals but have different mindsets about how to achieve their goals. As the series goes on, I’m going to love all their interactions.

That. Freaking. Ending! I can’t even! It’s such a cliffhanger and a game changer at the same time! I’m freaking out about it! I need more books now! I’m dismayed that there’s no news about a sequel yet! GIMME!!!!

Just finished reading this book and wowo , oh my !! This book continued and followed up on the aftermath of the events of what occurred in Generation One . So many characters had different conflicting views and beliefs on WHO to trust and side with and it in a way , provided some of that X-Men vibe // Reading through this whole book makes you really wonder : what is the difference really between the good guys and the bad ? 🤔🔥

Okay. That ending was unacceptable. How dare Pittacus Lore do this to me? How am I supposed to wait an entire year to read the next one. I am completely heart-broken.

But, putting the ending aside, this book was fantastic. I really did think I would struggle with Fugitive Six as it has been a whole year since I last read Generation One but still remembered the main idea of it. But I was fine. Fugitive Six was fast-paced, not too complex, exciting, witty, tense - all of the things you need for a successful science-fiction book. I found the storyline addictive and the characters all completely fascinating.

I love the differences in all of the characters in the group of the Fugitive Six - Kopano, Taylor, Caleb, Ran, Nigel and Isabela. (I think Caleb was my personal favourite, but I loved Nigel as well.) You wouldn't expect such different people to get along so well, and they didn't. They argued a lot and disagreed on a lot of decisions, and that's what made them so realistic. Yet you could feel the closeness and family-like atmosphere whenever all six, or even just some, of the group were together, and it made me fall in love with all of them even more.

The storyline was on another level. So much information fitted into 436 pages, but not a lot really happened the more I think about it. The book was just kind of this whole massive event, with it from all of the perspectives of the six main characters, but it was enough to make me want even more. It was quick and intelligent and unexpected and completely mind-blowing. I was shocked by most of the things I read - it was twist after twist after twist, and yet I wanted more because it was so good.

I am just itching to get my hands on the next book. I need it!!!!! Please take less than a year to write the next one Pittacus Lore!!!!!!!

Okay don't get me wrong, I love this world and I've rated almost all of these books 5 stars, but this book wasn't as strong as the others. It just wasn't!

The start really drags, and the main plot of this book was sort of a mystery for me even after having finished it. I mean, I get that this is all about Taylor finding her way into the Foundation and what not, but there are 4 other plotlines happening and it causes it all to feel a bit messy. Not to mention that the Taylor plotline feels so rushed and full of holes because of everything else that is going on.

I swear I didn't hate this book, but I feel like it could have been improved in a lot of places when it came to the plot. The characters are great, as always, (and hooray for someone Icelandic! Einar, my man!!) and I really liked how I got to see some of them grow from what I remembered them being like in the first book. The ending definitely came with a bit of a surprise, and I think the third book in this series has so much potential so I'm stoked for that to hit my mailbox next summer. (Assuming that the release date will be a year away from this book's release.)

All in all, I could never just not read these books.

Meh. Not great, not terrible. Not particularly memorable, but not unreadable. This book is meh. And I probably won't remember what happened in it by the time book three rolls around, so let's hope for a ton of online spoilers by that point, or a recap at the beginning. More authors need to do that--I am very pro-recap.

It was a good book. What happens to the humans? What happens to Caleb? I want to know what happens to the Loric as well as the humans. I think that I want to know what are the symbols for.
I really hope Five or Ella/ Sam and Six or Marina appears. I want one of the other Loric to appear.
I hope Adam gets out of that Alaskan prison camp. I love Adam. I love all of the Loric. I wish this was real. I'm going to ask James Frey if aliens are real. I want to know if the Loric are in hiding right now. I will ask James Frey that too. I want to know about the humans. I will ask James Frey if I can ask the Loric if I can meet the Fugitive Six? I really would like to meet them. I will also ask James Frey that. I think that I like Caleb or Nigel. They are my favorite characters. I really like them.
I love them. I love the Fugitive Six and the Loric. I hope that if Nigel wants revenge that it doesn't happen because I think he knows Dr. Linda is the mole. I'm concered for Nigel's safety. I'm just looking out for Nigel. I think that is nice. I like that. I really like to talk to a lot. I like this website.
I hope that Nigel thinks twice. I think that Five needs to be babied. Yes real badly because he was drowned in Mogardian ooze on an deserted island by himself. Poor baby. I love Five. He really needs to be babied. Caleb has a crush on Taylor. I don't know why. But I like Caleb. I think he's cute. I do. I really like Caleb. I wish this was real. I like that Caleb uses his duplicates to get girls.
Kopano and Taylor remind me of Eight and Marina's relationship.

ERMEHGEHD!!! And the plot thickens. It's like X-men! I love the twist and turns in this installment, although I still think the pacing was slow. But I am officially on the bandwagon with this spinoff series. Plus the original Garde is back! Hoping to read more about them.

***
Rereading this, and I'm calling it. This will probably be my favorite in the trilogy. I just have a feeling I won't like the next book. Really feel bad for Five. He doesn't deserve all the hate. And where's Adam? Is he ever getting out of prison? And are all the chimera dead? So many questions.

i loveeee this series so much. makes me sad that there’s only one left but anyway. i accidentally read a spoiler in trying to piece together this book which was that five and ran die in the series and i really thought when kopano put the chip in fives head that walker killed them both but clearly not. anyway i’m sad in advance for that and also scared for if anyone else dies (pls no) (except maybe einar). on that note, einar actually scares the fuck out of me. anyone who can manipulate emotions and has bad motives is honestly my worst nightmare. small six cameo slayed but pls bring her back. sooo much happened in this book, i love kopano and taylor they’re cute. i’m not surprised that isabela joined einar but ran i was a little taken aback, caleb i was confused i mean i know he didn’t have much other choice cause fuck being earth garde but still. of course nigel’s mum was foundation bitch, but also wtfs gonna happen now with the foundation if she’s m.i.a? i’m so confused what’s happening with the whole mog ship coming in and everything like john babes who’s side are you on also wtf is going on. what is the black ooze. who’s the good guys. AHHH. one book left baby

First 50-60% was very, very, slow, but the last 40-50% was the fast-paced, action-packed, Loric story that we’ve grown accustomed to.

I’m still not 100% convinced about this sequel series, the new books aren’t as gripping as the originals. I miss John’s POV, the switching between multiple characters can get a little confusing, and the third person narration tends to keep the reader at arm’s length. But having invested so much time, and energy, and years of my life reading Lorien stories, I feel like I can’t give up now.

It was nice to see Five again, I didn’t enjoy how his story ended in the original series and am liking the chance for his redemption. And loving the little glimpses of the original characters.

There are some strong and interesting new characters, and each seem to have grown some since the first book. And now with the splitting of factions, and that cliffhanger ending, perhaps things about to get heck of a lot more interesting.

This was definitely my least favourite book in this universe. The beginning was very slow and too political-focused, which is not the reason I read these books. I want ACTION. The Fugitive Six . Everything felt boring and convoluted, and the plot jumped all over the place. Hopefully the next one picks up.
