This is the sixth book in the Allagash Tails collection. The story - while cleaning an old family trunk, a grandson discovers unopened correspondence from his deceased grandfather. The letter instructs the young man to go to Allagash Lake to retrieve an heirloom "for the sake of the family." In this mystery adventure, canoe with Jim Clark as he searches for the bequest, and encounters a mystical energy highway where he learns more than he really cares to about the future.
The writing dragged a bit at times. There were odd word choices that made it feel stilted. The story was interesting and does give insight into the Allagash region.
