Never have I found a volume that combined so many different original sources to clearly lay out how the Founding Fathers and early Americans viewed their relationship toward God. Drawing on their own words, Mr. Carper pulls together the threads that helped knit our nation's early society as they cast off their old political ties to England and took steps forward as a newly minted nation. We were a Christian nation, no matter vehemently some would claim otherwise. Mr. Carper's editorial hand is light, he presents things as they are found without moralizing or trying to score political points.

This books is well worth your time if for no other reason you can read the wonderfully written thoughts and deep feelings of the heart our founders expressed toward God and Christ. Even as just a reference book, this is a prize of great value.

This was certainly interesting. We were founded as a Christian nation, and Jay Carper's book is a compilation of letters and speeches from our founding fathers, proving their Christian values. Great reminder of where this country started. If only it could get back to these values...

Very good collection of prayers to rebut the notion that the Founding Fathers did not have a worldview that was Judeo-Christian.
