About the author

Aya Nakahara is an award-winning Japanese comic book author who made her debut in 1995. She is most famous for her Kansai-dialect romantic comedy series Lovely Complex (also known as ラブ★コン or Love★Com) which as well as spawning a feature film and a 24-episode animated television series has been translated into many different languages and has been published across the world.

She primarily writes in the romance and romantic comedy genres. Her most recent work is Dame no Watashi Koishite kudasai R (ダメな私に恋してくださいR).

Ayy ya me hacía falta volver a leer mangas 🥺 jajajaj

Y pues continuando con la historia de Risa y Otani, que ahora ya son pareja 🤭, aparece una nueva personaje Mimi chan chan chan que viene a ser la rival de Risa por el amor de Otani ( aunque las cosas parecen ya haberse zanjado, pero va a ser la versión femenina de Haruka) xd

Our main couple acts more like bickering pre-teen siblings than potential lovers, which reminds me somewhat of Rumiko Takahashi's pairs from Ranma 1/2 and InuYasha. Our newly introduced rival Mimi has been neighbors with Ōtani since they were kids--per manga serial standard, we've heard nothing about her before now--and having reached junior high, she now has a pubescent crush on him.

Mimi's a girls' magazine model and is about as tall as Risa. On top of that, her longer acquaintanceship with Ōtani makes Risa wonder if he might be overlooking an obvious better match. It doesn't take too long for the reader to see that Risa and he get along better with each other, and are also more honest with each other. Mimi tries to bully Risa while Ōtani is absent or has his back turned, which of course ends up backfiring on her. Risa isn't budging, and Ōtani sees how badly Mimi's treating her, when she's been presenting an angelic face to him before now.

This is funny and fun, but Nakahara's no Takahashi. Occasionally Love★Com hits a note that strikes the heart, and I appreciate those moments, as rare as they are. Otherwise we've got shoujo romance as usual with slightly above-average humor, and average art. There's nothing wrong with that, though I'm also not going to give it a gold medal when it deserves something more like a participation prize.

Finalmente llegaron a si primer cita como novios, pero ahora ha surgido una pequeña complicación y se llama Mimi. Ella es una vecina de Otani que al parecer esta enamorada de él y cuando se entera de que Risa es su novia se propone quitárselo ....sin embargo descubre el verdadero Otani y este le revela algo increíble

Y ahora que ya son novios, tendrán su primer cita, pobre Risa le ganan los nervios
Y pues para ponerle algo de problemas aparece un nuevo personaje, Mimi, que entre varios atributos tiene ser una chica superlinda, que trabaja de modelo, igual de alta que Risa, vecina de Otani, y un poco psicopata. Y pues si esta medio divertido, pero esperemos no lo alarguen mucho puede volverse cansino rápido.

Yaaaaay, it happened! They're together! Huzzah and hooray!

One of my least favorite tropes is "will they or won't they?" I much prefer seeing a writer/artist take the time to explore a relationship and the dynamics within that than have them repeatedly break up and get back together. Which is probably why Love Com is my favorite shojo manga series--the rest of the series is devoted to exploring their relationship and letting it grow.

We get to see Risa and Otani's first date and poor Risa stressing out about how to act or what she should do. It takes her a little bit of time to realize that she can have fun with Otani as her boyfriend just as much as she had fun with him as her friend.

Isn't it so satisfying when Otani introduces her as "his girlfriend" to his ex?

Aborrezco los triángulos amorosos, y éste es el segundo que llevábamos en lo que va de volúmenes (y todavía falta uno más). Pero Risa y Otani son tan bellos, y su relación es tan hermosa, that I don’t really mind.

Lo que no me gusta de esta relación es que se siguen insultando y es algo que a mi, en lo personal, no me gusta o me hace sentir que su relación sigue siendo más de amistad.
Y la relación de Risa y Mimi me causó mucha gracia. Cuando se declaran la guerra y Risa le pide prestado para pagar sus bebidas 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

This “love triangle” started out kinda ridiculous. Mimi’s character seemed unlikable and just outrageously awful, but Risa was able to look past that and look into her heart and sympathize with her regardless of her being downright terrible towards her. I think this volume really showed Risa her character in a new light. She had Otani as her boyfriend now and she doesn’t have to put up with mean girls who take a liking to her boyfriend, but she still handled the situation in a mature way that showed that even though she feels a bit misplaced and insecure in her relationship with Otani, she doesn’t project it onto others anymore. As we saw earlier on their first date she kept comparing herself to his ex girlfriend when they’re two completely different people. I think that moving forward, now that Otani is aware of those feelings she had too. They’ll be able to grow more comfortable with each other and their new relationship.

It was all right, not really a fan of what the author decided the plot should be in this episode.

This one was where Koizumi faces off with her boyfriend’s neighbor who had a crush on him and she acts like a cutesy little middle school girl in front of him but is sadly a furiously angry b!tch to Koizumi who wants to steal him away. I get that happens in real life and the drama tends to be even more spicier and juicy especially between adults compared to this book but Koizumi being slightly dumb about the whole thing and wanting to actually help Mimi “feel better” when she was going to get rejected by ôtani… eh, that wasn’t very realistic at least over here in America. And kind of gross that a middle schooler who works as a model wants to have a relationship with a high schooler…
But that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Un manga marrant qui se lit bien.

J'ai bien aimé suivre l'évolution des sentiments des personnages et des réflexions autour.

Par contre pas top l'amitié / amour avec des piques, des critiques, des engueulades et des coups à longueur de journée.
En fait, ça crie un peu trop tout au long du manga.

C'est aussi pas assez féministe à mon goût et ça banalise du sexisme ou des agressions sexuelles... Notamment avec le grand-père insupportable.

Et à la fin ça traîne trop en longueur. Je pense que ça aurait pu s'arrêter avant.

Divertente, ironico e leggero. Mi è stata regalata l’intera serie per Natale.
Ho visto l’anime ispirato a questo manga non so quante volte durante il periodo delle superiori. Poterlo finalmente leggere è una vera emozione per me.
Pur trattando tematiche adolescenziali, l’autrice affronta anche argomenti più complessi: emerge, per esempio, il tema transgender, il che lo rende un manga assolutamente adatto alla nostra contemporaneità pur essendo stato realizzato a partire dal 2001.

Me gusta mucho éste tomo con relación a aspectos entre Otani y Risa, es bastante lindo y entretenido de leer, pero el personaje que aparece aquí no me agrada... es la típica chica con la que no puedo empatizar, pero de igual forma me gusta cómo ayudó a desarrollar algunos puntos.

Risa y Mimi, amé su dinámica. Creí que se volvería, al inicio, una situación complicada y que quizás pondría triste a Risa, pero para nada fue así. Se armó batalla por Otani.
