B. Love really has a passion for writing and for music. I've seen that love manifest in previous novels, but this book here...showcased her talent and love for both.
Loved how Maisyn gave them haters hell with her lyrics. Loved Maisyn and Sulu's connection.
Can't wait to read about Havana and Grim!! On to book 2!
As usual, this woman is a BEAST! I loved every moment if this book, from beginning to end. This was a Love and Hip Hop, Remy and Pap kind of read. I admire Sulu and Maze for their undeniable love for music. It blossomed in their relationship. It was funny that they looked up to one another and followed each others music. Their love just put the icing on the cake. I love how they never forgot where they came from. The fact that Sulu gave back to his city while Maze took care of her family shows their character. They are both big on loyalty, so i understand Grim's position in Sulu's life. However, I am SO GLAD that Maze's "bestfriend" got what she deserved. I love positive look she gives black men with the message that you can always choose another route. You don't have to be in the streets all of your life. There is a way out. Grim better handle that before Havana get fed up enough to leave. Also, can you believe that B. Love can rap? LOL, and her voice fits her songs. I cannot make this stuff up. I'm truly looking forward to Part 2. Way to go B!
I'm usually not a fan stories with lyrics but I truly enjoyed this book. Sulu was intriguing from the very beginning. I love Maze's personality and her love for her family. I definitely want to know more about Grim, he seems interesting. Another good read from B. Love.
While this was not my 1st read by B. Love, this was the 1st urban romance read by her. This was a great beginning as Sula & Maze's lyrical talents poured through the pages. Storyline held my attention & I'm looking forward to reading more about this couple's musical and lovely relationship.
‘No One Can Get In The Way I Feel For You…No One…’
Maisyn Young…Talented…Gorgeous…Center Stage…Humble…Life Changing Moment. Maze is standing on the cliff, preparing to jump in hopes of flying with the eagles. She’s competing for the spot in the limelight that she’s fantasized about…that prize that she’s been chasing since before forever. She has no idea that all her dreams will manifest…if she just JUMPS!!!
Sulu Kano, world renowned gangster rapper stands in the shadow watching this beautiful soul that pulls at him for some strange reason. It goes beyond her looks, even her hypnotic lyrics that sync so perfectly with the part of ‘him’ that he only shares with a select few…so how does she, this stranger tug at his heart without even knowing that she has the key that he threw away so long ago?
Two kindred spirits connect in the midst of controversy and ratchetness…will the light that they shine on each other overshadow the darkness that lurks in the recesses of the costly price of fame and fortune? B. Love has once again created characters that lull you into their love-tale and captivates you with a simple love song. I commend B. Love for giving you fair warning that she does what she does and you can love it or hate it…buy it or don’t (LOL). Big ups to you for taking a stand, I ain’t mad at you. My complaint is that I continue to see the misspelled word done (dan). B. Love Ridah!!! 4.78
There is a power in the pen and truth in the knowledge you spread. This is for sure a classic with a hood twist. It's not often that you find a novel that you not only relate too, but you also learn from and receive a level of consciousness and the love of God from. As with all of B's books you get to see the softer chivalrous BEAUTIFUL side of the black man and the submissive, loving, softer aide of the black woman with and urban twist. Its a beautiful thing to see that when often times we aren't projected in that light. Lift up your Kings & Queens B! #youbetterwerk Sulu and Maisyn were the truth, they allowed the ugly parts of their separate entities to form a bond and to lay down the foundation of something truly beautiful. What I loved most about the both of them was them speaking/feeding life into each other and identifying the great in each other to push them into the next level. I gave this book 5 stars because well Sulu is #bae I can see a little of Tupac with his social consciousness, Wale with his heart, & Chris Brown with that temper & Maisyn is a little Lauryn Hill, with some touches of Lil Kim & Remy. That ending though awww B I need book 2 like NOW. 😂😂😂 Great job!
Wow, this was the perfect love story 😩, I love, love, love Sulu and Maze and the love they have for one another. There love was shown and felt on every page. I love how B. Love expressed herself through the lyrics on the pages and that she made the characters have a connection through them. B. Love always brings out genuine love in her stories and it never seems rushed or forced. You can always feel the love coming off the page and Sulu and Maze was no different. After that cliffhanger my heart hurts for Maze but I know her and Sulu are gonna be fine. I can't wait to start Grim and Havana story 💖.
I loved how both Maze and Sulu had admired each other from afar, and had an appreciation for each other's music. But, when they met, the earth was tilting and ish was shaking! You knew that they would have an undeniable, incredible love! Felt for Sulu as he had to endure all that BS from Silas' greedy a$$! He was persistent, and would not let Maze get away, as he knew she was it! Maze was a beast! A boss, taking care of home, herself, and not letting anyone or anything get in her way. However, she wanted love, craved it. This couple together was magical and musical genius! Great job!
Wow, this book was amazing! It took me through so many different emotions, and I could really feel what the characters were feeling. Sulu was such a great man with a great heart. Maisyn just wanted love the right way. Together they were a dynamic couple. This book really makes you look into your life. I am never disappointed when I read a book by Author B. Love!! The lyrical genius that she showed throughout this book was incredible. I can't wait for the next book!!
First thing first FREE LU!!!!! Everything this woman drops is str8 FYE! Just when you think you can choose a "favorite book" or series from her she drops some else that grabs your soul! This book is AMAZING! From the beginning to the middle to the END!! This musical love story is like no other!!! B you really have me SPEECHLESS like real talk!!! As always, and I'm sure you know this already, you did WONDERFUL on this TREASURE... Thank you so much for this ride!! This book deserves more than 5 stars. GREAT READ!!!
B. Love why did you have to end it like that?? I need more!!
This is the first B. Love book that I have finished in less than 24 hours. The fact this story is surrounded around music makes it even more easier to love. Sulu and Maze are definitely another couple to love. That end got me. The poetry and music lyrics had me more in my feelings and thoughts than the story itself. I'm excited to learn about Havana and Grim and to see how their love story starts. I feel like Silas isn't gone for good. Another B. Love banger!!
I am definitely a B. Love fan and probably a bit biased but this story was amazing. I love Sulu and Maze because they acknowledged who they were but knew they needed to be better and wouldn’t be defined by their mistakes. I also love that even with the challenges they had, the story didn’t take dramatic and unnecessary pitfalls for the sake of drama. The way the story flowed was realistic and it only made you endear yourself to them more. Can’t wait to read book 2!
Yasssssss B yasssss you never cease to amaze me everything you do is phenomenal. I just love the chemistry that Sulu and Maze had with one another. This just inspires you to never give up on love because when you least expect it you will find it. I'm just ready for the next book because I'm dying to see what's going to happen to this Jo character and I'm anxious to find out how Grim and Havana are going to get it together
Loved, loved, loved everything about this book! Omg! Maze and Sulu were so perfect for each other, and I love how their love for music was intertwined with their love for one another. And can we talk about all those bomb lyrics!? Every song had me so hype!!! Had me rapping and singing like I was Maze in that moment, lol! Now after that ending I can't wait to read about Grim and Havana. Amazing job, B!!! <3
..and this woman right here...this woman, man she will keep you in love. What powerful names she gave the leading man and woman SULU & MAZE too. I have become addicted to the "get right to the point" "instalove" way B. Love pens her works. Always thought provoking; and the lead man and woman (after going through or livin in it), KNOW each is made for the other by time they meet. As always this was an excellent read.
Maze was an aspiring rap artist trying to get signed by a record label when she entered a competition to get signed by a major record label! The top hip hop artist in the world was a judge of the competition as his label would sign the winner. Maze won the contract and the heart of Sulu. She tried to stay away from him, but the heart wants what it wants. A great read!
Giiiirrrrrrllllllllll this is one of my favorites hands down! Sulu is bae I love his rough exterior and his heart. Him and Maze are truly meant for each other. I'm ready for the next installment...... Yassssssss B slay girl another banger but I can't expect anything less from you!
Sulu and Maisyn were everything! Sulu is just the kind of man that makes your heart skip a beat. He was not about playing games with Maze and he let her know exactly how he felt and the situations he were in. I can't wait to read about Grim and Havana. You are such a talented writer and every story you create gives me life!!!
Sulu and Maze's love story was everything. It wasn't the typical love story and I think that's what made it so realistic. The good comes with the bad, but love conquers all. And the way that they used their gift to speak to others is what we as African Americans need right now!
This is my very first book by B.Love and I’m asking myself how? Sulu was everything and more in this book and i loved his relationship with Maze. This book flowed so effortlessly and it has won B.Love a place on my must read authors list. Can’t wait to read more! You’ve gained a fan! -PJ
As always B. Love does her thing with her stories. This was an awesome insight into the lives of Maze and Sulu while focusing around their music careers. There were a lot of obstacles in their way and this story will have you reading until the end because I finished in one day.😁 I am so ready for part 2 to see what is in store for these "label mates".
Sulu and Maisyn shows how good love will make you cry in a good way. They are upfront and honest with each other, displays their vulnerabilities, and help elevate each other. They help each other to be the better version of themselves. They complement each other well.
This was a good read. It was a little short, but there was a lot going on in these pages, so the length was not a big factor. Both MC's are interesting and come with a lot of drama and baggage. It will be interesting to see how they handle thier past and come together.
Maison and Sulu were a force to be reckoned with once they settled between themselves that they were indeed meant to be. He was such a guide and protector of her. Conishia was a spoiled brat and Silas was a bully! Sulu has to work on that temper! Havana loved Grim and it will be interesting to see how they end up! Another great read!
Omg you did it again. Maze and Sulu I love love love them. The way he broke down her walls and made her trust him. Lawd. Havana and Grimm are tooooooooo cute. Silas and his daughter uugggghhhhhhh can't wait for part two.
I don't know how B Love does it but she writes stories that don't sound the same, they're love stories, but they all have a uniqueness about them. I think Maze is my favorite character. I can't wait to read about Grim, he's caught my attention!
This book was beautiful and not the regular singer rapper love story. I love how Maze was true to herself and stuck to her guns with Sulu and the music. I can NOT wait to read about Grim tho he future bae lol but he had both of their backs at all times.
B you never disappoint love . I lovvvveeedd this one sulu and maze are absolute goals but daaaaang why it had to end ugh can't wait til part 2 and I'm super excited about grim and Havana!!! Great job you always leave me satisfied and wanting more !
