I am a little conflicted about this one. There were definitely good learnings and value in the lessons learned from the military operations that could be applied in the business world. But, the absolutely black and white perspective on American and Iraqi troops, the ‘good guys’-‘bad guys’ rhetoric, the ‘you win or lose’ mentality was beyond tiresome. On one hand, you cannot expect much else from a book constructed on war stories told by military people, but still It gave me creeps and left me with ever deeper detest for army as an institution.

Great Summary

Great summary for the book. I have the book and if you’re looking for detailed examples to better help you to execute, the book is the way to go. However, if you’re looking for ideas and helpful information to develop better leadership and team building skills, this summary is more than sufficient. Very easy and straight to the point.

There are no bad teams, only bad leaders.

Very good summary as far as I can tell. Might pick up the real book too just to test if it‘s useful to take that shortcut.

The biggest idea is that of extreme ownership. Never make excuses, accept your losses and make uncertainties part of your plans.

The list of contradictive traits shows why it is so difficult to be a good leader. It‘s a very fine balance that makes a big difference.

Cool stuff.
