ARC copy provided by author in exchange for my own honest thoughts, opinions, and review

With no hope left because of a terminal incurable disease diagnosis, Jackie Hooper has made some difficult decisions including cutting off all ties to her family and divesting her financial assets. If she's going to die, it's going to be on her own terms, not being a burden to her family and not in a hospital.

Currently staying at an exclusive resort, Jackie is one of the many females who are abducted by a raiding Nayanor party though in her case she's claimed by their harbringer warlord Kol-Eresh. Little knowing his claim will be short lived as she's not long for this world, Koi makes it known she's now his and that means he won't allow her to escape, even through death.

If this isn't enough, the Eternals have been increasing their brazen attack of abducting human females brought to Luminos. No one knows the Eternals intent other than all females captured so far by them end up dead. Bringing Jackie to Luminos will therefore put her at risk if the Eternals decide her status makes her prime for their purposes.

* * *

Ongoing spin off series that features a breed of warrior aliens who need Earth females as mates to procreate their dwindling species. They're alpha, dominating, and their primary philosophy seems to be that only the strong survive and it's better to kill off the weak and dishonorable to strengthen the species. Gee, wonder if that's why their species is dwindling.....

The story line is a mixture of romance and ongoing series mystery/suspense that centers around harsh living conditions and mysterious secretive elders who have their own agenda, and they're not sharing with the mainstream population. Piece mealed with each installments, more specifics are added to the ongoing puzzle.

In a nutshell, while I love this author and love love love the different series and world building she has created, this installment didn't work for me at all. Forced and awkward, the main characters lacked chemistry while the world building took a step back in making sense. Additionally, and this is my own personal subjective opinion, the author touched on a pet peeve that seriously irks me. That being that terminal illness has a quick fix. Being in the medical profession, I believe miracles are possible and do happen, but, even in fictional fantasy, I have issues when terminal conditions are easily resolved such as occurred in this story. Additionally, family support is VERY important in difficult times so cutting off said loving family is a slippery slope for anyone who really is experiencing a similar situation. Thinking they should do the same in their real life. That it's the better choice. Please authors don't do that.

As for the romance between the main characters. If you've read other stories published by this author, you already know she brings it. Erotic romance with toe curling scenes that have the reader reaching for their cigarette and beverage of choice in afterglow. Less intense than other installments I've read, the author still does a good job satisfying her readers in this one.

Secondary characters. I'm looking back at this story thinking that there really wasn't any stand out secondary characters of note. The ones I did recall would result in possible spoiler content so I'm going with the ... secondary characters do add value to the world building.

Overall, most of my thoughts regarding this story are based on thoughts and opinions regarding when fiction conflicts with my own life philosophy and beliefs. I hope I made it clear that while I appreciated the story in concept, my issues with it are my own and why. Still, this wasn't a strong installment in the series as the main characters and world building didn't jell.

Just keep fighting

Jackie is dying of a rare disease when the Nayanor raid the resort she's staying at. Kol is looking four his fated mate.

I love that Kol is ready to takes on everyone and everything to take care of Jackie. Jackie is willing to go through a lot to get better, even when it's hard. Kol does lend her strength to get through. A heckuva love story.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

She is a runner who has run out of time. Jackie never thought that she would have this fatal diagnosis, and she accepted things as they happened. She is a fighter though, a strong willed fighter. Out on a jog while talking with her doctor she stumbles across something she shouldn't have. Now Jackie believes that she is running for her life, but there is something much more to this, and it isn't all as bad as she originally thought.

He is a Nayanor warlord who was not supposed to be on Terra, not without warning sirens. He is coming to take women back to his planet. Kol hears something and the warlord that he is prevents him from not investigating this. He has found his fated. She is running from him and not afraid to fight with him verbally. Challenge from one's fated is an endearing quality to the Nayanors. Looks like Kol really has found his fated. Only she holds a dark secret.

When Jackie thinks she has made it away from the warlord, she turns around only to find him right there next to her. She is somehow not completely afraid of him, even though he towers over her. Kol informs her that she is his fated. Now he has to convince her. Jackie finds out in small ways just how much a Nayanor will do to keep their fateds safe from harm and happy. Kol is no exception to this. He seems to be wooing her, in his own way, and that way does endear her more to him.

Then it happens, the secret she was hiding comes to light. Jackie needs to tell him, only things progressively happen and she can't. Kol is at her side immediately. Jackie's diagnosis is brought to Kol from the healer. There is an idea on how to help her, but it is not something usually done. Jackie agrees to go ahead with the procedure and for a short time she feels more hopeful. But the rejection begins and she knows there is nothing that can be done, she starts to give up hope. Kol fights this at all times and costs, including her asking him to leave her alone. Things start happening, and now there is only one way of finding help to cure his fated. A great risk but for her he would do anything.

Kol does beat the odds stacked against him, and Jackie is helped by someone that no one would have expected to help. A cure?! A lifetime of happiness and hope for Kol and Jackie, not to mention a happy ever after, with a little extra surprise at the end to boost their happy ever after. But to get there you must go through the horrible season that happens once a year, and a war that is never ending (and began so long ago) and worth every step in that journey.

As with all Vi Voxley's books, this was another that shall remain on my keeper's list. She provides multifaceted adventures, larger than life heroes and feisty heroines.
In this story, Jackie Hooper is rapidly dying of a newly discovered incurable disease. She chooses to spend her last days not having her loved ones weep over her, and chooses not to weep herself. She checked herself into an exclusive resort and is fully enjoying its services and especially loves challenging herself with runs and strenuous climbs as long as she is able. Her doctor keeps tabs on her.
Out of the sky suddenly appears a Nayanor space ship. She thought that the Palians had devised an early warning system, but somehow they were able to get by it. They send down scout ships to capture any young females capable of having children. Jackie is one that is scooped up.
She soon finds out that she is the fated mate of the Harbinger of this space ship, Kol-Eresh. She does not let him know that his plan for a lifelong mate is soon to be doomed.
They head back through the wormhole the Nayanors created to their planet, Luminos.
The first adventure is after she is running around a track on the system, but somehow they were able to get by it.
The first adventure is after she is running around a track on the ship and collapses. Their healer informs Kol-Eresh that it is bad and he has no idea how to help her. NOT what he wants to hear.
She meets Ashley the fated mate of another Harbinger and the holder of the largest fortress on Luminos, The Black Hall.
More scary adventures await them, but we do get our HEA and epilogue at the end!

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Jackie Hooper and Kol-Eresh. Jackie knows that she has a disease so rare that so far the Union has no known cure for it. So Jackie is determined to live her life her way. Which means living where she wants to live even if that is away from her family, and doing what she wants even if it hurts to do it. She doesn't want her family to remember her sick and dying, she wants to remember the vibrant, loving woman that they know and love. One day while running she makes the joke with her doctor about getting abducted by the Nayanor and living out her last days in the throws of pure bliss. However when they actually come will she give in to the man who is to be her fated or will she tell him that they can't be together because she is dying?

Kol-Eresh can't believe he has actually found her. The one woman who is meant to be his until the end of time. Little did he know how quickly that time will come. However he is a Nayanor and they never give up and he will never stop fighting for the life of his fated. He has no faith in the Etherals but with his fated's life on the line he will search for them for they maybe their only hope. Again he didn't realize what a fight he would have to take on to get to them but that is something a Nayanor reveals in. Will he make it in time and be able to save his fated or will he loose the one woman destined only for him?

This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat from the first word to the very end. This book also shows us that you should never stop fighting for the things you want. You never know where the answers will come from. There are so many twists and turns in this book that I want to tell you all about but don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will say this book will have hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Oops! What happened here? Don't misunderstand - I think Vi Voxley rocks the alien SF romance sub-genre. Her latest alien species, the Nayanor, aren't the nicest guys in the galaxy, what with kidnapping Earth women for mates, and generally being majorly blood thirsty alpha-holes. Kol-Ersh is typical, but the influence of Jackie, his fated, leads him to some unexpectedly unselfish and foresighted (for a Nayanor) action. He requests help from fellow Harbinger Zar, and actually listens to his chief healer's advice. So NOT Nayanor! To save Jackie's life, Kol is even prepared to face down the Immortals - the elders of the Nayanor race. They are the ones who may possibly hold the key to his people's current failure reproduce, among other strange things occurring on Luminos, the Nayanors' inhospitable homeworld. I loved Kol, and Jackie, and their heart-in-mouth struggle to live and love - so why only three stars? Ms. Voxley has apparently had a bad writing/editing experience with this novel. Numerous weirdly disorganized paragraphs, non-sequitur sentences, grammar and word choice errors crop up to derail the sense of the story. So not typical of her writing in previous novels, and so very disappointing coming from a writer of demonstrably far greater talent than this book indicates. I hope the next Nayanor's tale marks a return to her more polished and readable style.

Love this couple!

I always look forward to a Vi Voxley release. Her writing style is such, that the reader finds themselves falling into the story before the first chapter ends. It is hard to imagine that any connoisseur of Sci-Fi romance would not wish to find themselves their own Brion, Corgan or the odd Palian Palladin. Now we can add Nayanor Harbingers to that list. And I will add that Kol and Jackie are now my favorite Nayanor/Terran couple. Jackie is that rare "dying" heroine that doesn't come across as feeling sorry for herself. She fights. And even though she has moments of despair she keeps her big girl panties firmly pulled up and continues to fight on. Kol is a hero you just want to sink your teeth into and never let go. His arrogance is not due to pride or ego but to self-assuredness. He KNOWS he is exactly what he says he is and is capable of all he says he is. His devotion to his fated is beyond compare and you can't help but find yourself just a little bit in love with a character like that. I look forward to the next entry in this series and can't wait to meet th next couple.

Jackie is almost resolved to dying from her incurable illness when she is taken by Kol as his mate. Kol is determined to keep her with him forever or die trying.

This is one of my favorites in the series. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. Kol is so honest and protective that you can't help but understand why Jackie finds herself so attracted to him even under these circumstances. He is fierce in his determination to save the woman who owns his heart and his life even when she might be giving up. Jackie is a fighter too. She has tried so hard to fight the disease. Kol gives her some hope but it is a dangerous choice.

As with the other books there is a great mix of action in the story too. It really keeps everything interesting. For those who have read the other books, you get to revisit some of the characters which I really enjoyed too. It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend checking out all the books. They are great if you love sci-fi romances with a lot of adventure and strong female characters.

Jackie is literally dying from a new disease called Rovecolis that even the Palians the smartest race in the Galaxy cannot find a cure for yet. So she has decided to take a holiday at resort in the Rockies and do what she loves best which is to run. She is enjoying the views and running up the mountain when the Nayanors attack the resort. There was no warning alarms and no way she can head back to the resort so she flees back to the mountains to see if she can hide. Kol-Eresh a Nayanor Harbringer has just landed his fighter and sees Jackie who he knows is his mate and gives chase. He saves Jackie from a fall into a chasm that would have otherwise killed her and takes her back to his war ship the Leviathan. Kol has waited a long time to find his female and he will do all in his power to keep her safe but he will not have an easy time as he does not know about her disease and fate will keep putting challenges in his and Jackie's path with her life consistently in danger.A big thank you to Vi Voxley for the enthralling review copy. Loved this book.

KOL

Kol and Jackie's story is book 3 in the Alien Raiders' Brides and definitely my favourite so far. I absolutely loved it. It was exciting and entertaining, and filled with action, romance and loads of emotion. The author has such a creative imagination and does an amazing job detailing and describing this new alien world, along with the awesome visualisations that manage to draw you in. I also loved the main characters, Kol and Jackie. I know Kol is a barbarian of sorts, but I kinda liked it and I liked him. Yes he is all that, but his also warm and sweet, and very protective of Jackie. He never gives up on his mate. Jackie is strong and kind, but also very broken. She's come to terms with everything that has happened and is going to happen, until she meets Kol. And as they say...the rest is history. This book was awesome. Loved it!

Kol and Jackie

This KU library read is a great addition to the Alien Raiders series and my favorite to date. Nayanor raiders travel through wormholes in space to Terra, where they kill the men and steal the women in hopes of finding their fated mates. Their race has lost the ability to have female children, so they steal women in order to procreate. But when the raiders come and Jackie is taken, she isn't sure how to tell the harbinger who claims she is his fated that there is really no use in his taking her. She has a fatal, incurable disease that is only a month away from claiming her life. But Jackie doesn't know Nayanor warriors and the bond that ties them to their fated. A bond that hardwires them to protecting, that won't allow them to give up, ever.
This book is really a double, because when the first dilemma is resolved, another begins, and it's a doozy. The books in this series just keep getting better.

Jackie is living on borrowed time. She was diagnosed with a rare disease and has only weeks to live. Not liking the pity she gets from friends and family, she is seeing the world alone. She runs to clear her mind. One day she is on a long run up a mountain, she sees a Nayanor ship attack the resort she is staying in. She hopes to hide but gets caught by a harbinger. Kol sees Jackie and knows she is his destined one. He steals her from Earth which makes her very angry. On the trip back to Nayanor, the two get closer and Jackie gets more resigned to being Kol's. She doesn't let him know that it will be just for a short while. Then she collapses on board ship and Kol is desperate to save her life.
All other alien technology couldn't save Jackie but will Kol?
This is a great story with action and drama. I loved how neither Jackie or Kol gave up. This is a great addition to the series. I willingly received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.

This is the third book in the series and they just keep getting better and better. Kol is a harbinger sent to raid the colonies in search of females to help re-populate his dying Nayanor race. Jackie is a woman who is slowly dying and left everyone she loves to be alone with her illness. While out running, she suddenly sees a Nayanor ship and they are burning the resort where she was staying. As the hatch of one of the ships opens, Jackie is awestruck by the warrior that appears and is unable to move. Finally she regains her senses and the chase is on….Unbeknownst to Jackie she has just met her fated, Kol. What will Kol do when he finds out about her illness? Can they both have their happily ever after? This is one storyline that sweeps you up from the start to the finish. I highly recommend this book and cannot wait to see what happens next in this series.
I volunteered to read an arc for a review.

Jackie and Kol

This is my favorite of the series thus far. I really liked both Kol and Jackie. I was happy to see that Kol was the hero of book 3. It really delved deeper into the history and issues facing Luminos and Nayanors as a species.

Jackie was so spunky especially considering she is deathly ill. I loved her conversation with her human doctor in the first chapter. I found it interesting how her impending death gave her a type of freedom the heroines in the first two books didn't have. Her friendship with Ashley was nice.

Speaking of Ashley, I loved how she didn't sugarcoat her life or the lives of women on Luminos. Yes, she loved Zar and her boys, but she was still brutally honest.

Kol was everything I liked about the Zar and Rhys rolled into a hunky guy with a wicked sense of humor. I loved how he didn't give up on Jackie during any of her medical emergencies. Yeah, he was a jerk a time or two, but I could easily understand why.

Kol and Jackie, a harbinger and his kidnapped fated...Once again Ms. Voxley has brought us to "Luminous" to experience the "Great Night" and the horror of the "Eternals"! The Eternal's desire to experiment on the women brought back from the raids on Terra begins an epic like journey Kol and Jackie must make to save themselves! I cheered Jackie's ingenuity and I gasped, groaned and preened at her continued strength amid her struggles, her upbeat attitude and her discovery of what being a "fated" entails. Ms. Voxley as in all of her stories fills them with a hot blooded alpha, emotional and sexual chemistry and fear for your life moments that cause you to scream and squirm! I can never set it down till I reach the end and then I want more! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I enjoyed this story which is the third book in the Alien's Brides series. This is Kol - Eresh and Jackie's story. It is a very emotional story.
Jackie Hooper is dying from a disease with no cure. She thought how good it would be to have a soul mate she would never have. Remember the saying " Be careful what you wish for".
Kol-Eresh is a Harbinger of Nayanor. He and his men have come to Earth to collect women. He Finds Jackie hiding and takes her for his own. Will he be able to keep her?
The Eternals, the Nayanor elders are kidnapping women trying to change them. They have given the serum to Jackie.
Will Kol be able to save her? Will they be able to find the hideout of the Eternals? I give this book 5 stars. "I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy without pressure to do so".

Loved it

Loved Kol and Jackie. Jackie is dying of a new disease, so new the Palian:s haven't found a cure yet. She is resigned to her fate and is facing her mortality on her own terms. Then the Nayanor come., and she is kidnapped by a harbinger. Kol has found his fated. When he learns of her illness he is determined to find a cure. Trouble is brewing. The Eternals have been raiding and kidnapping females, injecting them with something and leaving them for dead. When Jackie is taken and injected they learn the reason why. Kol will take on the oldest of his people to save Jackie.
Great story. A lot is learned about the Nayanor and their history. Loved seeing Zar and Ashley again and where they are now in their happily ever after.

Another great book. This book has her trademark action adventure and romance. Kol is our alien hero and Jackie is our human heroine. Kol is a harbinger and Jackie is a former diplomat. She is suffering from a terminal illness and has a matter of days to live. She is determined to live her life to it's fullest. Kol is determined to keep her alive at all cost. We are given a look at the "Eternals" those beings that shaped the Nayanors and Luminous. We get a little more information about the healers, the diadon and the relationship between Zar and Kol. I hope that there is at least another book in this series.

The more I read this series, the more I disliked the Nayanors as a whole. The whole premises is that the Nayanors are tough, but they show that toughness by beating their women. On one page it states how much the Nayanors cherish females and then a few pages later there's some side note of a woman being mistreated. And what do the heroines think about this? They just shake their heads and say "Nayanors will be Nayanors." I only kept reading because I was hoping some redeeming quality of these aliens would surface....needless to say that didn't happen. I gave this 2 stars and not 1 because I reserve 1 star ratings for DNFs.

Jackie is dying and the only thing that makes her feel better is running. While out for her run the Nayanors attack the resort where she is living. She is captured by Kol-Eresh a Nayanor Harbinger. Kol is determined to save his mate, and will convince one of his healers to take extreme measures in an effort to save Jackie. Jackie will fall for Kol, but can they survive a battle with the Eternals. Wow, exciting and sexy read, well written characters, and a few surprising twists in the plot. Fantastic book, I loved it!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.

Holy Harbinger, this was a fantastic story. I LOVED Jackie’s character from the get go. Smart, funny, sexy, dying. It was an amazing start to Vi Voxley’s KOL and I didn’t stop reading until I finished.

With the various different offshoots of stories in the Galactic Union, we are given new background information on the various alien species that find human women so attractive drawing you in like a moth to a flame. These stories rapidly become addictive to where you can’t read only one.

This was really my top favorite book by this author to date. There was very little that I didn't like, and a lot that I did. I love Jackie and Kol. Kol was adorable in his own ways, and how determined that he was to save Jackie. Jackie was a great character in her own right, and I really enjoyed seeing them together. It was a fun book, with some heartwarming moments. I was really happy with their HEA. I'd love to see more books like this from the author. I was gifted a copy.

In an effort to make others feel better and deal with "it" in her own way she does what she needs to. Things go sideways as she notices they've arrived without any alarms going off. Is it too late for the warning? One thing she isn't prepared for is running right into the Harbinger but she plans to outrun him. Is she ready to die to accomplish it or will he catch her and change her mind?
Love the Raiders series. I voluntarily received a complimentary copy for an honest review.

A major emotional roller coaster of a tale

Talk about drama, Jackie was diagnosed with a terminal illness, then she found herself kidnapped by a Nayanor. This was just the beginning of this love story that started so rocky and never became easy, but it would become good.
As usual these tales are hot, the females feisty and the men totally alpha which makes for an entertaining story. A fun read
