How far would you go for the one you love? Conrad longs to give his wife the child she desperately craves. Rendered infertile by a mutated virus in early childhood, Conrad has undergone numerous tests and trials only to fail time after time. Learning of an experimental fertility serum trial taking place at the University where he works, he races to the department to be placed on the list. Finding no one around, he locates the serum and injects himself. What could possibly go wrong?
This was a fun story with many twists I did not see coming. It had a likable and engaging main character, and of course I fell in love with all the cats.
Received in return for an honest review, naughtiness2*
Completely hooked, loved this book very much, not a romance but love plays a huge role in this epic novel,as do Cats.
As always I never give spoilers what I will say is that this book is like nothing I've read before in its unique way which is not an easy thing to do. Jenny has most definitely written a book that will be loved by cat lovers everywhere and I truly hope that anyone reading this review will give this book a chance to captivate you as it has me, thank you Jenny for writing it.
I was a bit out of my genre comfort zone with this one, but the cover and blurb got me in. JL certainly has good imagination and I am glad I read it. As the climax approached and played out I didn't want to put it down. You may also enjoy Spirit of Love by JL.
Conrad will do anything to give Hope a baby, even steal a non fully tested serum, which has consequences for the couple, their in laws and the children who are born. Addicoat creates loveable characters, a hero who is fall-in-love material and a heroine who will go to great lengths to save what is hers. This is a must read for cat lovers, especially when the main protagonists create a few skills that we animal lovers would all like to have.

Cat lovers will be delighted with the portrayal of Rufus, the feline hero in JL Addicoat's post-nuclear-war world. Facing the trauma of his infertility, the human hero, Conrad, will risk anything to give his wife, Hope, the child she so desperately wants. He injects himself with an experimental serum that he hopes will make him fertile. His love for Hope will make him risk even more as the story unfolds. Luckily he has the support and wisdom of his old friend, Bill. He also finds a new ally in Rufus, a cat who has mysteriously appeared at the science building a year before. As readers will discover, Rufus is no ordinary cat. Addicoat is spot on in the way she describes Rufus's thoughts and relationship with Conrad. I had quite a few chuckles at the things he did and said. For me, although the humans' story was interesting enough to keep me reading, Rufus was definitely my hero. He's quite a character!
I was given a copy of the book by the author and this is my honest review.
A fun futuristic novel exploring issues of biotechnology, love, human nature and a world ruled by cats. The characters are captivating and the storyline is truely unique. A wonderful read.
What an amazing concept for a book. At first I was a bit sceptical thinking it a bit far-fetched, but the easy reading got me in and then I was hooked wanting to know how it all ended up. That J.L. Addicoat is a cat lover is plain to see. Loved Rufus.
