He couldn’t keep his hands off me.
Single dad. Works with his hands. Handles big tools.
How could I resist?
I fled my past to find myself.
Instead, I found the single dad boss of my dreams.

Michael Vanderbilt is my rock. He’s got an honest smile, a chiseled face, and a hard body. Did I mention he’s a carpenter? He knows just how to handle a big piece of wood.

So when he reluctantly gives me a job, a place to stay, and stability, I have to hold on as tight as I can. Plus, he’s the best single dad I’ve ever seen.

I just can’t keep my eyes off him...

When he takes me in his arms and pins me against the wall, I melt. My throat closes. My toes curl. My heart swells. I let him have his way. I give in to his every whim.

But not all things are as perfect as they look. Hell no.

Just when I think I’m in the clear, my ex-boyfriend finds me. He stalks me. He wants me back. But I’m not coming back, and Michael is going to make sure of it.

Only love can break your heart. But what happens if your whole world falls apart? Michael Vanderbilt saved my life. Now, I need that daddy more than he knows.

This book is pure tension!
You have to read on and on, from pure curiosity, how all these entanglements will dissolve!
At the same time, it is a wonderful love story, which tells of pure and unconditional love, as each one desires in his life!

Single Dad Boss

The story line for this book was solid but there were times were I felt the book was confusing.

For example, Hero had his daughter, but was working in the barn shop at 1am with heroine and then takes her inside to have sex. So who was taking care of the daughter? Yes 13 yrs old but when did he spend time with her, did he fix her dinner?

Just seemed a bit like the daughter became an afterthought at times though supposedly there.

And it never really delved into what the heroine's ex did to her. We were supposed to guess. It was implied he was controlling in the beginning then all of a sudden at the end he is psycho stalker.

I guess I'm saying the book was more sex scenes and not enough details for me.

I like a good sex scene, but want to relate to the characters and the story. Sex scenes are just the bonus.

Finally things are fitting together better...

I received an Advance Reader Copy for Single Dad Boss written by Kara Hart and voluntarily reviewed this book.

Emily Carter ran away from her controlling boyfriend and tried to make a new life for herself in a new town. When it became clear that there was not much hope left in terms of job offers coming her way, she answers an ad for a carpentry assistant, no experience required, and was able to nab an interview for the next day. Once she saw who she was working for, though, she knew she was in trouble because she instantly had a serious attraction to her boss, Michael Vanderbilt.

Michael had recently divorced and hired Emily because she was someone he felt he absolutely needed in his life. But, there is only really one thing left standing in Michael's way and that is his ex-wife Susan, with whom he still shares a carpentry business, and custody of his daughter Lisa, the one thing he did manage to get right in his marriage. Just when he found someone to move on with and the person he should have waited for, his present becomes a wall to his future and happiness with Emily. And not only that, Emily's ex tracks her down.

This was a good read, of two people needing to still work out their pasts but knowing they needed and wanted to be together because they fit. Emily was the woman Micheal needed in his life to finally be the man he wanted to be.

This is my first read by Kara Hart so I really wasn’t sure what to expect going into it. Single Dad Boss tells the story of Emily Carter a young woman looking to start over in a new city after leaving her controlling boyfriend and Michael Vanderbilt a carpenter trying to get out from under is over bearing ex-wife while keeping their business afloat.
When Michael hires Emily to help around the shop they try to in earnest to not give into the pull between them but luckily for us they can’t resist and their love story begins.
There are things I really liked about this book such as the chemistry between Emily and Michael. I thought that was off the charts hot and very believable however there are things about this book I didn’t care for. Like Michaels ex-wife Susan. The character is important to the plot for many reason, I just didn’t care for the way she was written. Also, I felt there were inconsistencies in the age of Michaels and Susan’s daughter. There are times when he would be talking to her and you would get the impression that she is a toddler or young child but then in the next breath she seemed like she was preteen or a young teenager. It made some of the text confusing and difficult to read.
All and all I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading other works by Kara Hart.

Emily has run away from Chicago and a very dominant boyfriend who treated her as a piece of property instead of someone he loves. She moves to Nashville, has no friends yet and is in search of a job.
Michael is a single father who has been divorced for awhile and has an extremely bitchy ex wife. She not only his is ex, she also owns half of their carpentry business. He's looking to hire someone else to help out in the shop.
When Emily calls about the job, Michael has her come in for an interview regardless of her not having any experience. When he first see her, he knows he has to have her. When Emily sees Michael come out of the house, she is instantly attracted to him but notices he is still wearing a wedding ring. Their attraction is very hot and undeniable. When she questions him about how long he's been married, he tell her that he's been divorced for a long time now. She's very happy to hear that news. Even though a relationship between them shouldn't happen, they just can't keep their hands off each other. What will happen when his ex finds out? What will happen when Emily's ex tracks her down and wants to meet with her? Can they have a relationship and work together too? Will his daughter like Emily? There is so much to this book and you will get all those answers and more when you purchase the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book.

A Good Read

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy.

Emily is a young woman looking to survive in new city after leaving her mentally abusive boyfriend. Michael is a carpenter who'd just escaped a dysfunctional marriage but still deals with his b@#$& of an ex-wife while running their business and co-parenting their daughter.

Emily was hired under Michael as an apprentice, to learn the trade. From the start, the attraction between the two is too strong to ignore; they eventually give in to each other. Now they both have to face the music and deal with their crazy exes as well as try to make their relationship work.

I liked each of the characters, including the ex-wife (and honestly, she is a hard person to like throughout this book). The relationship between each of the characters seemed believable and well developed. The chemistry between Michael and Emily felt real and uncontrollable but a bit too fast; however, it still worked for the storyline. Unfortunately, there really wasn't much of the ex-boyfriend until the end of the book. We are told the history between he and Emily, but his actual appearance seemed abrupt and incomplete.

Kara Hart did a good job with this one and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

I could not finish this book...

I'm sorry, but this book just did not do it for me. I felt no connection to the characters whatsoever. The "relationship" was super rushed, and mostly just consisted of sex all the time. The story was disjointed and confusing. Emily was not very likable, no one really knows what age Lisa is or why she is really even there, since she's not really an important element to the story, and Michael is weak. It felt like a lot of the components of this book were thrown together because the story was supposed to fit a certain mold. Single dad, alpha male is a turn on for many...not so much when the dad isn't really invested in the parenting, the kid is not really present much, and he seems like a pushover most of the time. Sorry to say, but I cannot recommend this book. It just needs a lot more character depth. Something to keep the reader interested.

This is a quick and easy read which I enjoyed very much. It's the story of Michael and Emily, whom are both getting out of tormented relationships. While there is the element of insta-love, it flows so well in the story that you quickly get caught up in it and find yourself rooting for their HEA.

I liked that the storyline took us away from the alpha billionaire, instead we get Michael, a hard working business owner, whom puts the love he has for his daughter above all else. Emily, is feisty, intelligent, loving and willing to get her hands dirty kind of girl. Which is exactly what our Hero needs to gather the courage to stand up to his unstable ex-wife. Totally recommend this book.

Emily escapes her controlling ex boyfriend, leaving Chicago for Kentucky. She tries to find a job but no one will take a chance on someone with no work history. Until she applies at a carpentry shop owned by sexy Michael. Emily is attracted to Michael but her experience with her ex fills her with caution. Michael has his own painful heartache from his ex wife so he is also guarded. Watching the budding relationship grow is entertaining, especially the constant scenes where Michael & Emily can't keep their hands off each other. This is an enjoyable read, but to be perfectly honest, it was not my favourite out of Kara’s books. To get away from a controlling and stalker ex, Emily moved to a new town in order to start over. Michael is a carpenter who hires Emily. These two have great chemistry together. What bothered me though, was the way in which Michael let is b***h of an ex wife call the shots, instead of sorting her out once and for all. This is just my opinion though, I am sure other readers did not feel the same. I always love this author’s work though, and it kills me to only rate a 4 for this book. Sorry Kara!!

Im going to be honest and say that while this was a good read, it wasn't my favorite that I've read by this author. I've read a few by Ms. Hart that I have thoroughly enjoyed but for some reason this one just didn't hit that mark for me. It was still good just not as good as her others. Sometimes I felt a little confused as to what was going because it seemed to skip ahead fast at certain points in the story and not in others. But I still enjoyed the characters and the storyline.

Moving home is the best decision Emily Carter has made in a while. She gets away from controlling ex Dennis. Looking for work is hard but carpenter Michael Vanderbilt gives her a chance. They fight the chemistry between them due to Michael's ex Susan causing problems. The heart wants what the heart wants so they give it a try. Lots of issues dealing with crazy exes, running a business, a daughter to care for and more importantly.... nurturing a dream of finding the one person you feel so much for. A fantastic read, loved it.

Needs a good edit

Overall, it's an enjoyable book. With a dual POV, the reader gets to know the main characters well. There are inconsistencies in the story that could use an edit, though, such as going from wearing long pants for work to suddenly having a dress or skirt on, going from roller skating to suddenly straddling him on the floor with no transition, etc. I was pulled from the storyline on several occasions due to the inconsistencies, which took away from the story for me. But it's still a good read; it just needs a little polish to make it shine.

Pretty good. I think he's a decent guy, I didn't like that he allowed his ex-wife to be so controlling. Emily definitely needed a good man in her life but I feel like she was too easy especially considering her emotional baggage. I also would have preferred a little more romance because it makes the falling in love so fast more believable if the couple spends more time together doing something besides having sex, which they had a lot of, the scenes were very steamy & well done though :) Their exes added drama and a little edge in the mix.

Emily and Michael are crazy hot together. They can't keep their hands off each other. Michael is a single dad and Emily works for him, so keeping things under wraps is near impossible. The chemistry was so off the charts hot, and I loved watching them struggling to juggle their forbidden relationship, their work, and life in general. Good all around steamy romance. I really enjoyed all the characters, from the lusted up lovebirds, to the jilted exes and the awesome child any parent would be proud to have. There was anguished truth in what was written, but it had real heart as well. I think Michael was my favourite character, I mean who doesn't love a man that is totally into being a Dad. There was a lot of lust filled moments, and a bit of kink, so as long as you're ok with that, you will love this story.

Too much left unresolved

First time read of KH for me. Picked up the title on a freebies list based on the cover.

Some inconsistencies with the storyline/timeline that had me wanting to look for more so it was hard work to stay in the story.

The pacing seemed off to me too. Straight to instalove, dragged in the middle and wrapped out super fast without have the whole ex wife conflict resolved.

It also took me ages to peg down Lisa's age.

Michael is a divorced dad who needs to finally move on. Emily who has gotten out of a bad relationship, desperately needs a job. Michael is hiring and hires Emily and Michael can't stop thinking of Emily. Both needing each other, they can't fight how they feel but with how their past relationship were can they finally be happy.

Single Dad Boss by Kara Hart is a great read. I am a fan of Kara Hart and always enjoy her books and this one was no different. Emily and Michael are a great couple with loads of chemistry. Very well written and entertaining story about falling in love again and overcoming the obstacles from the past that won't let you move on to find happiness. This is a fast-paced read with lots of suspense and drama. Emily and Michael are both trying to move on after their previous relationships ended. With the baggage, they carry from those relationships can they find a way to move on together. Great chemistry, entertaining story and steamy. I liked it.

This is a great romance with a couple you root for after they have been thru so much in their past relationships. He is a good guy who wants to help her and in return finds love. She is just looking for a chance and is so afraid to risk it all. They have this great chemistry.

I enjoyed this story. Emily and Michael are very likable characters. The story lost a star from me because of continuity issues that kept pulling me from the story. i.e. One minute they're at his house then they're at hers. First they are in Kentucky then they are in Nashville?!? I went back several times to see if I missed something but no, it wasn't me.

Boss.

This started if really well but didn't hold up. Honestly the ex wife just got on my nerves so much and the fact he never stood up too her. Plus there was a lot of sex. Believe me I love steamy but this was a lot. I just felt something was missing. Things skipped around a little and didn't connect. The story itself was good and I liked the ending

And I want to be with you for the rest of my life.

Micheal is a single dad with a vicious ex wife. Emily needs a job far away from her abusive ex. I really liked this book. Loved the daughter and the relationship between all of them. Great read! Enjoy!!

I love Kara's mc and mafia books, with this one I didn't feel the same connection with the characters in this book as I do in those. For me this was just an okay read. It moved too slow for my liking.
