If this is Freedom then Lock me up!Cody Miller would define himself and his family as the true definition of "trailer trash."His mother, an ex-hooker and MC club girl, overdosed on drugs when Cody was just a little boy. Left with only his older brother to protect him, Cody was raised in the slums by a mean, drunk father who taught the boy the only way to deal with your emotions was with your fists. After Dax Marshall, the president of the Southside Skulls and the only man Cody had ever looked up to, finds out that the boys are being abused, Cody's father goes "missing" and for a while, Cody's life is everything a fourteen-year-old boy could imagine it would be.He got to live on the Southside Skulls ranch and be raised by a man that was feared by many and respected by most.No one put their hands on him and for the first time in his life, he was allowed to just be a kid.He had the run of the ranch with his best friend Jimmy, and Macy, the neglected daughter of one of the club brothers who Cody would befriend and then fall head over heels for.Cody also spent a lot of time in his adolescence with a homely girl named Hannah who lived next door.Hannah was a wild one with an adventurous spirit and she taught Cody what it was like to have fun. But as Cody's young life had already proven to him, things don't stay good for long. Hannah's father moved them away to keep her from her friends on the ranch. And just about the time Cody and Macy were old enough to think about taking their love to the next level, tragedy struck. Cody's older brother was brutally murdered and no amount of begging from Macy or his best friend Jimmy could stop the boy from exacting his revenge. That revenge ended with one man dead and another critically wounded.Cody was tried as an adult and sentenced to fifteen years in prison. His only saving grace was Dax who made sure the boy was taken care of on the inside.Dax also visited him regularly, but he would be the only one who did. When Cody finally comes out eight years later, he'll come face to face with his best friend and his girlfriend and he'll be looking for answers.Dax has his hands full with the boy in a man's body, and while Cody's trying to learn all the things he was cheated out of learning sooner, another familiar face comes back into his life.Hannah...aka "Harley Yates," the free-spirited, homely little girl was back, and she was the epitome of a beautiful swan. She was just as adventurous as ever too. And...she was the girlfriend of Detective Kyle Brady, a man who would love nothing more than to take down the club who had already stolen his little sister.★★★★★ "This whole series kept me on the edge of my seat with the suspense, drama, and romance!"★★★★★ "These books are brilliant reading. They are fast paced and the story just pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages desperate to find out what happens."★★★★★ "The story was filled with so many surprises as wells as twists and turns which dealt with death, revenge, love, laughter and secrets coming to light."★★★★★ "A real page turner from beginning to end with a bunch of lovable and engrossing cast of characters as well as a very complicated plot.."Take a wild ride with Dax and his men, Cody, Jimmy, Macy and the red-headed demon, Harley. You'll want to hold on tight because with this crew you can never be sure where the ride will end and who will be left standing when it's over.
So I enjoyed the previous book and was looking forward to this one. But it just didn't talk to me.
I found that Macy was just a bit too frivolous for me. She was with one guy and then not even 24hours after her ex comes back she is sleeping with him, while hiding a secret that the ex had every right to know. Cody I really wanted to like, but its like he wanted to be a douche. From the minute he got out of prison he was questioning Dax and the way he ran the club, (even though he wasn't part of the club). Cody was and is so in love with Macy that he will do anything to have her back and by his side. But then an old friend from his childhood shows up and now he is torn between her and Macy.
I really wanted to like it but it just didn't work for me, I felt like the characters were too 'childish' in some ways and maybe needed to develop more.
But I won't give up, and would love to read the next one.
I was so anxious for this book that I can't find the words to properly describe it... I know that I can seem a little crazy, lol, but it's the truth. I love this author's books so it's understandable that I want more and more... Jessie Cooke has a dark, intense and hot writting that will hook you up in a sec. Cody is the second book from the Southside Skulls MC Romance and Jeeze... Have you read the first book from this series? DAX? If you haven't I tottaly advise you to do so because despite they are standalones you need to know the characters better and find out what makes them the way they are. Cody tells the stories of Cody and Macy. Cody just got out of prison after 6 years for avenging his brother's death. He's a biker of the Southside Skulls and very proud of it. But he's not satisfied because he intent to finish the job that had sent him to prison. He was and still is in love with Macy but what did this time apart do to their relationship? Did it killed it? Macy was a sweet girl that saw her boyfriend being arrested. That day changed her life forever. She had to endure so much pain but she needed to survive. She couldn't just stay out and wait for him. She has a past full of secrets, secrets that can make her future impossible. What will happen to these two? This book is intense, is full of action, suspense and betrayal. I have to say something. I loved this book but I loved the first one more. I can't explain why but I had some issues starting this books. But please don't let my words doubt the book because once your into the story you will love it. I know that I'm a sucker for MC books so I devoured this one and I want more. I loves the characters, loved their struggles, their fights. I was mad, sad, frustrated but there were parts that I was happy and hot as hell. Let's see what Jessie has in store for us... I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The first book was a total bust but i thought of giving the writer second chance and reading this book but i was left more disappointed. How can the hero end up with Harley when in the blur Masey is the girl for Cody. The writer is just tricking readers and it's not a HEA if you think the girl Cody ends up with is pregnant with someone else's kid. This book was seriously messed up. Do not read this book if you are used to typical biker romance novels. This book will keep you pulling your hair out and feeling miserable at the end of it. I can't believe this terrible writer wrote 20 books in this series and people are reading it. I am scared to read the third book because who knows the hero might end up with somebody else entirely in the end. The blurbs are supposed to be there for a reason and the writer should understand the meaning of HEA before bothering to write a MC romance novel. If there would have been negative stars the writer would have served those but sadly 1 star is the best i can do.
Cody is one hot mess. He's 24 but his life experiences puts him much older than that. He's suffered a life of abuse by his father, abandonment by his mother and finding his hero, his older brother, beaten to death. His brother was the one good thing in his life. At the age of 16 he goes to prison for 8 years for killing two of the men who killed his brother. He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart who he dreams about in prison. He comes out of prison mentally still the teenager he was at 16. He faces heartbreak when he realizes things don't stay the same for the eight years. He's rash, impulsive, full of anger and seeking revenge still for his brother's death. I really don't know how Dax, the MC president and mentor, was able to be so patient and deal with all of Cody's stupid decisions. The book doesn't end like I assumed it would but it was a good ending. I usually don't like to read the YA romances but I was so involved with watching Cody grow and evolve into the man he became. My heart hurt for him at times but then I wanted to slap him. This one is the best of the series so far.
This was an amazing story about Cody and Macy had exciting twists I didnt see coming,I love this series and all the characters from book 1 coming back.Cant wait for book 3
Cody is getting released from prison and is going back to the clubhouse. He can’t wait to see Macy his girlfriend but quickly discovers that she has moved on with his best friend. No wonder why they hadn’t come to see him while he was in prison. He is hurt and angry and lashes out.
Macy can see the hurt in Cody’s face and his reaction was not a surprise. When Cody see’s Macy and Jimmy at the bar he asks a friend for a favor. This in turn ends with a very hot and steamy scene between Cody and Macy. Macy is feeling guilty and is avoiding Cody. While Cody is confronting her, Jimmy overhears the conversation and ends up revealing a huge secret the Macy has kept for years.
Cody is shocked but is willing to move forward with Macy, however she doesn’t want to be looked at like her mother was. These two had me so confused at times and I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. Then comes Harley, an old friend of both Cody and Jimmy. She has grown up and blossomed into a beautiful woman that Cody is very attracted to. But she happens to be Angels brother’s girlfriend who is a cop. This could be very dangerous territory, will Cody stay away?
Lets just say that Cody is one horny boy who can’t seem to make up his mind on which woman he wants. He had me so confused at times along with Macy and her issues. Than we throw Harley in the mix. This was a good story but at times I felt a little lost. I do have to say that the sex scenes were extremely hot and very panty melting. That boy knows what he is doing. I’m not sure how I feel about the ending, was it the right choice? I don’t know. I feel like I need to see more from Cody because I have so many unanswered questions. Even with these thoughts I am truly enjoying this MC series and I can’t wait to read the next book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Reviewed by MAustin from Alpha Book Club
Although I really liked the first installment of the series, this one fell short for me.
Cody was just released from jail for manslaughter only to find out that his teenage love Macy and best friend Jimmy have moved on with each other. Cody still thinks that Macy is the one and tries to go back to where they left off 8 years ago regardless of any consequence. Crazy events take place and Cody and Macy now have a shot at the HEA, but nothing ever comes easy.
While Cody struggles with acclimating to his new life and his need for revenge, he is re-evaluating his relationship with Macy and what he wants out of life. Meanwhile, Macy is keeping a secret that she knows will most likely keep Cody away for good and Harley, an old childhood friend of Cody makes her appearance and Cody is torn between the two females as they both played a significant role during his early years.
Once the secrets are revealed and real love is professed, who will Cody have his HEA with?? I totally did not see the ending coming and maybe it could have been omitted from the story altogether and I’m not sure why the author threw that in there. I’ll give this one 3 stars, but I’m not giving up on the author yet! I loved Dax’s story and I look forward to the next installment of the series!

This is the second book in the Southside Skulls MC series, which can be read as a standalone but best read after the first book, Dax.
Cody had been locked up for the last eight years since the age of sixteen. Now with an early release he is going back to the MC without no knowledge, that his girl Macy (who he has not heard from whilst he was on the inside) is now firmly hooked up with his old best friend, Jimmy.
This was an unusual plotline and slightly immature for my own personal tastes as I prefer my MC reads much more gritter and featuring the established brothers of the MC. Cody is not even a prospect at the start. As with many new adult reads (which I have categorised this one as being) there were lots of angst and misunderstandings. There was also the issue of Macy and her secrets and then throwing in Harley, another person from his past who coincidentally also happens to be Dax's old lady, Angel's brother's girlfriend. Phew! Such a mix up!
I much preferred Dax to this book but overall an engaging hot romance of young love. I just wanted Cody to end up with someone so much better than he did and that strange twist at the end was just not needed. As this was a more new adult MC read for me this was a three stars, but if you like the younger end of the MC then this is for you!
This is book two of a really long series and was hoping they were as good if not better than the first one. Sadly this one is what I call a so-so read. Maybe it's because I don't agree with the author on some points. Here we go.... Ms Cooke has the H as a young twenty something male who's maturity stunted as a teenager when he first went to jail. That is why the H acts like a teenager BUT I disagree. If he killed with his bare hands and did eight years in prison then in my opinion he would have been forced to grow up and mature more quickly. As I said it's a matter of opinion and Cory acted so young and did stupid things so often it annoyed me so I had trouble getting into the book. Hopefully the next one will be more like the first one.
I enjoyed the previous book and was looking forward to this one. First I wondered why the second book is about CODY an unknown kid of someone that no one respected. He’s not even in the club or prospecting. Who is so immature and impulsive. What author switches the heroine that she sold us in the blurb? Obviously it didn’t work for me. I wanted to stop reading but I wanted to know what happened to DAX and the crew. As I was reading this book and DAXs I noticed some startlingly similar love scenes. I just feel like the author just threw in every plot twist she ever heard of! I rarely rate books so poorly. I just can’t let her get away with this crap! It’s a romance not a swingers party! Cheating my tail ( I’m trying so hard not to curse). First you sold us Macy and Cody who both wanted to be different from how people see other bikers act sexually promiscuous. I’m now trying to decide if i want to read anything else of this authors. What a HUGE disappointment! How did it get such a high rating overall?
This book was well written and not the reason for this rating. The rating is straight up aligned to this tales Bull $#it flip on the romantic entanglements. Sorry Jessie but the flip pissed me way the hell off. Should have gone with my gut and DNF this book.
Cody was a new character that we finally got to know after hearing so much about him.Cody has been connected to the MC through Dax but is not an actual member more like Dax's adopted son.Cody has not gotten over the girl he has left behind since going to prison .With him not being able to let go of the past and move on himself he gets caught up in a love triangle that is not going to end well as it is going to cause problems among the MC.Their is actually more then one love triangle he has involved himself in.Theirs Jimmy, himself and Macy and then their is him,Harley and Kyle.
Cody's former flame is now with his best friend who has now become a full pledged member of the club and Macy is his old lady. This definitely stirs things up between him and his former girlfriend now that they are in close proximity of one another. (All those unresolved feelings and all that)
I really felt horrible for Cody for losing the one person who kept him going during his stint in prison .He has lost the love of his life as she had moved on.Even though you can't blame her for moving on it's hard for him to let go the one person you always thought was your very own soul mate.He will be dealt an even bigger blow once he learns her secret. We just wanted to hug him for the sadness that surrounds him.
I normally pick a favorite character in a story and mine is going to be Harley this time around,That chick was a breath of fresh air among all the chaos.I found Harley to be fun, daring smart, sexy and a bit of a free spirit. Harley was sunshine and was always upbeat and she seemed happy all of the time. How could you not love her as she was intoxicating .I loved how she lived in the moment and be damed the consequences. You could not help but love her feisty personality.
I loved no matter how many bad decisions Cody kept making his brothers always had his back supporting him as well as forgiving him and still willing to help avenge his brother death.Support, love Loyalty!
What a complicated story this turned out to be.There was so much going on in this story that kept you so engrossed. Omg! Cody's life was really a train wreck.Everything and anything just kept happening to him whether it was his own making or just fate.First he finds out the girl he loves ended up with his best friend and feels betrayed by both of them then he rekindles a friendship from his past who is involved with another man and has her acting on her own feelings that she has always carried for you involving you in yet another love triangle.(Not that he wasn't a willing participant but he is suppose to be getting his act together and moving on with his life in a positive direction ).All this while you are carrying a torch for your ex that you are currently perusing.Sounds like a soap opera right? Can you say complicated ? Then you keep making one misstep after another that could land you dead or in prison again. What's next ?

Its also about letting go of ones past and forgiving one another .A real page turner from beginning to end with a bunch of love-able and engrossing cast of characters as well as a very complicated plot.
This book goes into the keeper pile and another fantastic tale in this continuing series.
I really had to stop and decided how I wanted to review this book. I had actually almost thought about stop reading it about half way through. Not because it was not good. Most of it was good but I do not like books that have cheating in them. Not only did Cody sleep with one woman that had a boyfriend but he sleep with two. I do not care that Macy was his girlfriend when he went in prison. She had moved on and was with someone else. For the reason of cheating and the reason I did not like the direction Harley’s secret went I am giving the book a 4 star.
My heart truly broke for Cody. I did like the fact that the story was about a broken boy who lost his brother and wanted to seek revenge. His need to want to seek revenge is what landed him in prison. He made his bed and he laid in it. Now that he was out he wanted to take out the last man that was responsible for this brother’s death. I can respect that to a certain degree.
Cody after prison was a lost soul. He had a lot to deal with. His girl had moved on with his best friend and Cody held a lot of anger inside. He felt like Dax had let him down when it came to getting revenge for his brother.
I loved that Dax and Angel was in this book. Dax was what Cody needed in his life. He will face a lot of crossroads along the way and Dax and the club will be there to help him along the way. Cody will discover a lot on his journey including what brotherhood is really about.
Harley was the second woman that cheated on her boyfriend. I did not like the fact that she had little respect for her boyfriend that she was sexually active with.
Harley will hold a secret that she is scared to share with Cody. I personally did not like the direction she the author took when it came to this secret. I wish it would of went another direction, more in Cody’s favor.
I personally would not of chosen Harley of Macy for Cody. I just did not like either character. I did not like the fact that Macy turned her back on Cody so quickly after he was arrested. I did not like the fact that she acted like she was better then the club life when it was a life she was raised in. Harley I did not like the fact that never thought twice or showed any guilt on cheating on her boyfriend.
Did I think the storyline was great? Yes, but I would of loved to see parts of the story changed.
Cody Miller has spent the last six years in prison. Does he regret taking the taking of life and beatings that he doled out? Not one bit. He was avenging the death of his brother and he would happily do it again. He missed his time on a bike and he missed the family that he left behind, the Southside Skulls Biker Club. He missed his girl, Macy. He knew that she was angry with him for putting himself in a situation where he went to prison. But Macy grew up in the lifestyle and knows what it entails. All Cody wants is to find out if he still has a place in his family, his girl, and his chance to finish what he started.
Macy Linden loved Cody Miller with all her young heart. She never expected Cody to be sent to prison for murder and attempted murder. Her life went to hell when he left and she had no idea how to handle anything. What she did know was that she wasn’t going to wait for life to pass her by. She would move on and deal with the situation when Cody came back. What she didn’t expect was how Cody would come back. She knew his reaction would be violent, but he also set out to get his girl back. But there are more secrets that Macy is hiding and all it takes is one match to ignite a fire. And when it blazes, there may not be any survivors.
I read the first book in the series, DAX, and was floored with the storyline. I thought that I would like CODY just as much, but I didn’t. I had a hard time empathizing with the main characters in the story and the scenario’s that they were involved with. The story was very well written and kept my attention. I spent more time enjoying the interactions with Dax and Angel and other secondary characters than I did the main ones. There are twists and turns that I was not expecting, and I think that is what kept me going with the book because I wanted to find out what happened in the end. Overall, it was a good story with drama, danger, and some sexy scenes.
Cody is book 2 in the Southside Skulls MC series by author Jessie Cooke.
Cody was definitely an interesting character, although brought up around the lifestyle, when we are first introduced to him he is not part of the club, but has his sights set on becoming a prospect. Cody was an angry young man and had vengeance on his mind, and rightly so, having suffered all his life, this poor guy just doesn't seem to catch a break, maybe that's why I fell for him, even though some of his morals were questionable!! This book has quite a few other main characters; Macy...sorry I didn't like her from the get go, she was weak and played with people's hearts and emotions, not cool! Jessie, at first I didn't like him and am still a little annoyed about how he treated his best friend in his time of need, but he grew on me and then Harley aka Hannah, eventually I liked her, but I didn't like her blasé attitude towards having 'fun' whilst in a relationship!!!
Piqued your interest yet??? I hope so, this book is definitely worth your time, it has a good story line with plenty of drama to keep you hooked, the authors writing is engaging and her characters are well developed and mostly relatable. There are so many other characters that we meet and hopefully lots more to come from this series. As expected the book shows the loyalty, dedication and sense of family you can only get in the MC world. It has plenty of deliciously hot under the collar moments with a little laughter and violence thrown in, well come on, everyone needs balance in their life!! #B2B Lesley
Exacting revenge for the death of his brother has cost eight years of his own life as he served his time in prison but now he is out there are three things that he is desperate to get reacquainted with; 1. His bike 2. His club 3. His girl And not necessarily in that order! Time inside may have cost him more than he was aware of but because whilst we whiled away the hours behind bars his woman Macy was doing what she needed to do to move on, not that she didn’t love Cody, but he had not only accrued his own punishment but she too was serving his sentence. So, first port of call for Cody was to find out exactly what is going on and exactly where his future lies. Macy may have been p**sed when he was sent down but was she still? Macy knew that the fact that she kept her distance while Cody was incarcerated wasn’t going to go down well with him and she was pretty certain that her door isn’t going to be too far down the list of places t visit first and there wasn’t a chance that he was going to like what he finds. Is what they had enough to build a fresh start upon or will the time apart be a step to far? There were so many twists and turns in the story that I found the anticipation almost too much at times, but what I would suggest is that you make yourself comfy and dig in because as far as MC stories go this was pretty enjoyable and the characters certainly had plenty to say for themselves
So this is the second book I have read by Mrs. Cooke and the second book in the Southside Skulls series. I have to say although I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I'm not really sure how I feel about this book.
Lets start with Cody. He's a young man who's finally being released from prison after doing 8 years, 2 of those which were spent in juvie. I think Dax nailed it on the head when he described Cody perfectly, he was still a teenager stuck in a man's body. I think Cody had a lot of growing to do in this book. And although he didn't do it all in this book, he did grow some.
Uh lets get to Macy. I just didn't really like her at all. She was so scarred of becoming her mother, that I feel like she indeed did become her, especially after Cody came back. She was just doing too much flitting back and forth between Cody and Jimmy. I also kind of found her anger towards Cody unnecessary, her and Jimmy are really the ones who let Cody down to begin with.
As I said above I'm not sure how I really feel about this book. I don't want to make this review sound negative or like I didn't enjoy it. Because I did enjoy it. I really don't want to give anything away about the book, but there were definitely some twists I didn't see coming. I will say this though the peak at the end of the next book is what really caught my attention.
I'm giving this book 3.5 Stars out of 5 and can't wait for the next!!!!
***I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion***
I couldn't wait for this book. I love Ms. Cooke and her writing style. I highly recommend reading Dax first, even though they are standalones. This book centers around Cody and Macy.
After serving 8 years in prison Cody comes out a changed man. Went in as a hot tempered boy of 16 and comes out as not a well adjusted man of 24. He is emotionally stunted at 16. Cody has no family aside from the Southside Skulls MC and the girl he gave his heart to at 16, the girl that hasn't even contact him once he is locked up. Dax and him have exchanged letters while he has been incarcerated and all he wants to know is about Macy. Once he gets out his in for a big surprise with Macy and one of his "brothers".
Macy has been anxiously waiting for Cody to be released from prison. She has moved on with her life and is dating Cody's best friend and club brother Jimmy. But that's not all Macy has been keeping secret. When Harley, Cody's childhood friend, makes an appearance Cody is torn between the two women. Macy his childhood love and Harley his friend that turned into a bombshell. Who will he choose?
I really didn't like Macy or Harley for Cody. Macy abandons Cody as soon as he is incarcerated. What happened to loyalty and for her to not even let him know about her moving on?!?! Harley is a promiscuous woman who cheats on her boyfriend with Cody. That's not why I don't like her, it's when she tells Cody her secret and how she planned to handle it that I lost all respect for her. That being said I still would recommend this book. Can't wait for the third installment.

*****3.75 Stars***** So I finished this book a while back I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book but it wasn’t everything I thought it was going to be. Maybe because Dax was just so dam good but Cody was good but could have been better; Cody story is good just a bit all over. Cody and Macy where High School sweet hearts until Cody was sent to prison for murder revenge against his brother murderers and it took 6 years away from Macy and Cody. When Cody comes home he can see why his love of his life never came to see him Macy now with Cody best friend Jimmy. Macy feelings are all over the place she knows that she hurt Cody bad but she doesn’t want to hurt Jimmy who has been by her side since Cody has been gone. Now this is where I kind of got lost with my interest Harley is a girl that Cody use to hang out with but now she not the little annoying girl he used to hang out with and get into trouble with. Cody is very much a lost soul since being home and his feelings are all over. But the past won’t let Cody be the man he needs to be. Who will Cody end up with? Will the past destroy his future?
*****ARC from Enticing Journey Book Promotions for review*****
3.5 Stars This story is action packed! I liked that Cody grew with the story and tried his hardest to be mature the majority of the time. I liked the friendship with Dax and liked the majority of the characters. I will admit that it took a good while for me to get into the story. I failed to connect with Cody but I liked Macy and would have liked more of her and her point of view. It wasn’t until near the end that I started to like Cody and a little. I will admit that I felt sorry for him losing his brother the way he did. Although I struggled with this book at times I will admit that I read it in one sitting and don’t regret it. The storyline for this book is jam packed with drama, fairly easy to follow and a nice read.
Having just been released after six years in prison, Cody Miller is trying to re adjust. Now free, he heads back to his family, Southside skulls MC. He is also heading back to the only girl he has ever loved. A girl that he hasn’t heard from since his arrest. Macy Linden is anxious to see Cody again but a lot has changed in their six years apart. Macy has a secret that she fears could tear her and Cody apart indefinably.
Jessie Cooke was new to me when I read book one in this series but got me on board for the next. Man oh man is she hooking it up with book two. Don't get me wrong, Dax was so so good but Cody... yes please! It had everything I love to hate in all the right ways.
Sexy. Suspenseful. Riveting. Intense. Passionate. Cody is book two in the Southside Skulls series and not one to be missed. It's no secret MC isn't my usual cuppa but Jessie Cooke is quite persuasive with her words. While this is technically a standalone, you should start from the beginning bc these Southside Skulls are addicting.
Complicated. Angsty. Edgy. Gritty. He's fresh out of prison and nothing is the same. Revenge. Regrets. Secrets. Action-Packed. Cody's journey was one twisted ride. Revelations. Truths. Trust. Love. Nothing will ever be the same.
If you like your book a little out of the box and not on the safe side with page gripping moments and edge of the seat twists then this series is for you!
I really enjoyed the first book this one not so much. Cody was released from prison after serving 8 years for beating one of the men who killed his big brother to death. He also put the other in a retirement home. He goes home to find that his girlfriend and best friend have started a relationship. Neither one of them have written or visited him while he was away. So I really didn't care for them after finding that out. Macy was Cody's first love. After seeing Cody she ends up sleeping with him in a bar bathroom. Jimmy finds out and breaks up with her after telling Cody a terrible secret. I didn't like how Macy whined about worrying that people would think she was a whore like her mother. I almost stopped reading this book because I got so aggravated with everything going on but I finished because I was so invested in the story. I think Cody was immature and I really was impressed with any of the characters. Dax's description of Cody being a teenager in the body of a man was correct. I was pleased with how everything turned out. I will read the next book I think I will like him from the preview at the end of the book.

Cody has done his time for avenging the death of his brother, he's now looking forward to enjoying his freedom with the only family he's known: the Southside Skull MC and the girl he loves, Macy. She's been pretty quite since his incarceration, not one visit, and he's getting a little concerned. Macy is happy that Cody is finally out of prison but doesn't now how he's going to react when he learns of her life now and how it's changed. Their meetings have become strained when they get together as neither of them are the same people any more but lust is ever present. Is that enough for love to build a new beginning? But Cody still has unfinished business, can he complete it and stay out of trouble, and Macy has a secret that could tear them apart. Cody was a character unused to freedom, he'd spent his early adulthood in prison and had a lot of adjusting to do. The story is a rollercoaster of twists, turns and surprises that are unpredictable, a real change from the usual. A brilliantly written story, I enjoyed it very much. Bring on the book 3, I can't wait!
I found Cody Southside Skills Motorcycle club was a really good read , highly recommend that you read Dax it's book one in this series . It wasn't what I was expecting but it was a interesting twist that I didn't see coming . Cody is a likeable hero but at times he did frustrate me he grows through out the book and that's just amazing . I thought the heroin was going to be a total different person but it is a interesting change . I'm very excited to see whats next in the series . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero = 8 heroine = 8 secondary characters = 8 Chemistry = 8 steam = 7 romance = 5 humor = 3 darkness level = 4 enjoyment = 8 angst = 5 action = 4 story line = 8 mystery = 4 character development = 10 pacing = 10 Plot = 10 cover = 10 stars = 4 author = 9 would I recommend this book = yes would I re read this book = yes would I read future books by this author = yes
I absolutely love this series. I stumbled on it from a blog I follow and let me tel you that I haven't looked back. These books can be read as standalones but I do have to say stop and get Dax. You won't be disappointed. This is a new mc world for me. Its so unique and is a nitty gritty world. Loved ever minute of Cody. He went into prison at a young age for revenge. He comes out a different man to a different world. His best friend and his girl are hiding a big secret. All the while he still has some unfinished business that the Skulls need to know about. Dax stepped up for Cody in a way only a real man can. !y heart just over flowered with emotions. They had a connection that stayed strong will he got out of prison. I love Dax from his book but Cody has a special place in my heart. I wanted to beat up Macy and Jimmy like okay I get the connection they felt but come on why can't you have waited. Then Harley what a Woman. She was perfect the goings ons in the club made for some great action. I am a Southside Skulls girl for life.
Cody has been gone for 8 years, 2 years in juvie and 6 in prison, for killing a man who killed his brother, Since Cody was only 16 when he went to prison, he still has the impulsiveness and thoughts of a teen and not the man that he's grown into. Dax is all he has left as he took Cody in when he was a child. Cody is shocked and hurt to find out that his best friend and his girlfriend have been for most of the time that he was gone. Cody wants to still kill the one man who set up the kill for his brother. When he finds someone to help him, he has to do a favor first which gets him in trouble he didn't see coming. It's then that the really gets the true meaning of being a brother as the club comes together to take care of it. Lacy, Cody's ex, is unhappy with how Jimmy, Cody's best friend, treats her. She thinks about it throughout the book, yet, she seems to keep going back to him, which doesn't make sense with her behavior/thoughts.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read.
3 1/2 stars This second book in the series has a lot going on! There is always some dramatic action or hot passion!
Cody Miller is finally being released from prison. Dax picks him up and takes him back to the MC clubhouse on the ranch. He hasn't seen his girl, Macy, nor his best friend, Jimmy, since he was imprisoned. Then along comes a childhood friend, Hannah or Harley, as he calls her. Things definitely become very interesting!
The story is very easy to read and fast-paced. It is mainly from Cody's point of view but he does try to look at things from both sides. Even though there was quite a bit of action and drama it wasn't as exciting as book 1.
Cody is a likeable character who definitely starts to grow up throughout the story and tries not to be so impulsive. It's great meeting new characters as well as old ones especially Dax, who is such a strong and intelligent president.
I can recommend this book as a fun, entertaining read.
Cody (KU), 317 pgs **** Cody & Harley I loved this book even though I didn’t really know about Cody from the first book, he stole my heart from the beginning of this book. Harley is awesome, brave, honest and fun. There was definitely some chemistry between these 2. The MC action, about the 70% mark was good and exciting but I sure could use more of that throughout the whole book. I like the action mixed in with the romance parts. I took off a point because there needs to be more MC action, more to the ending than just stop with so much left up in the air and there was a too many fluff pages throughout the story. Other than that, I enjoyed this book and recommend you read it. I will continue on with the next book in the series. PS… I didn’t like the cover but that’s just my opinion.
This series will have you on the edge of your proverbial seat and then will whip you as you read! I totally adore this author! With every story within this series she gets better and better and that is not to say she skimps on her characters because SHE DOES NOT! Every guy we meet adds to the cautiously guarded crew of the Southside Skulls MC! Every one of them is cunning and cautious but they are loyal and covetous. They protect their own and heaven help whomever gets in the way of what and whom they favor. One of the best MC series I have read! Oh you might find that some are not easily taken but remember these are men whom you would want on your side if your ever in need. This is the 2nd edition to this book and it is NOT one to be MISSED! I cannot recommend this series enough!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
For most of this book I wasn't sure if Cody was going to end up with Macy of Harley. I also found it strange that Dax kept saying Cody has the actions of a 18 year old because he most of his growing up years behind bars. His actions didn't portray him that way except when he was always jumping into a situation before thinking of the consequences. The one thing that really got to me in this book was when Cody would mention his brother Keller. He wasn't a part of this book except for in everyone who knew him memories. Each time he was mentioned it got me a bit teary eyed. Especially when Cody was recalling how he found him . I was so glad to see that he got his revenge for his brother, although the was O'Toole was a sniveling coward just didn't make him come a cross as someone to be feared by everyone.
